Barney Gordon Green
Sykesville, Md., resident Barney Gordon Green died Wednesday, July 11, 2007.

He was born Aug. 13, 1912, in Maud, Okla., to the late Jess David and Georgia Mae Oaf Green. He was the husband of the late Cora Nell Green.

Mr. Green had been a banker for First National Bank of Maud. He also was a farmer for many years.

He was an avid golfer as well as an avid football fan of his alma mater, The University of Oklahoma.

Also preceding him in death were his daughters Nell and Mary Ann Green.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Donald Evick of Gainesville, Va., and Maryln and Jack Harman of Sykesville, Md.; granddaughters and spouses, Anne and Todd Chappelle and Jennifer and Brett Huntington; great-grandchildren, Jack Taylor and Rachel Elizabeth Chappelle and Owen Samuel and Cameron Marie Huntington.

A funeral liturgy was held at St. Joseph Catholic Community in Eldersburg, Md. Burial will be noon Friday, Aug. 24, in the Wanette Cemetery, Wanette, Okla.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Children's National Medical Center, 111 Michigan Ave. N.W., Washington, D.C. 20010.

Services are under the directon of Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, Sylesville, Md.

Lori Kay (Burgess) Millican
Konawa resident Lori Kay (Burgess) Millican, 45, died Monday, August 13, at Carl Albert Indian Health Center in Ada.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa with Bros. Dennis Traxler, Kellos Walker and Ed George officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Jerrell L. Robertson
Shawnee resident Jerrell L. Robertson, 19, died Saturday, August 11, in Shawnee.

Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mike Wester officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Carl Roy Moore
Longtime Shawnee resident Carl Roy Moore, 63, passed away Monday, Aug. 13, in an Oklahoma City hospital.

He was born Oct. 18, 1943, to Homer and Anna (Whited) Moore in Shawnee.

He graduated from Prairie Valley High School

Carl farmed and ranched. He retired from Mobile Chemical Corporation in Shawnee.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Dorothy Waldrup.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Pearlene Moore of the home; daughter, Tina Moore of Shawnee; son, Sheldon Moore of Shawnee; grandchildren, Brittany Herron, Christopher Moore, Karra Reynolds, and Jordan Harjo, all of Shawnee, and Tiffany and Austin Moore of Saint Louis, Mo.; step-grandson, Clinton Herron of Seminole; one brother, Jim Moore and wife, Alice, of Oklahoma City; one sister, Linda Campbell and husband, Bill, of Shawnee; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Fairview Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Higgins and the Rev. Jess Power officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.

Carmel Columbus
Shawnee resident Carmel Columbus died Tuesday, Aug. 14, in Shawnee at the age of 83.

Rosary will be 6 p.m. today at Walker Funeral Service Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be noon Friday at St. Benedict Catholic Church with the Rev. Maurus Jaeb, OSB, officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Cogee Factor Miller
Cogee Factor Miller, 98, of Wewoka died Friday, Aug. 15.

Survivors include her daughters, Rosalie Grothaus of Shawnee and Sally Taylor of Wewoka; sisters, Mary Joyce Tiger of Wewoka and Lena Wright of Wewoka; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and many other relatives.

Wake service will be 6 p.m. today at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel in Wewoka.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Amon Harjo and the Rev. Amos Harjo officiating. Burial will follow at Factor Family Cemetery.

Gladys Davis
McLoud resident Gladys Davis, 94, died Thursday, Aug. 14, at a McLoud nursing home.

She was born, Oct. 17, 1908, in Oklahoma City to Hugh Arnold and Mattie (McKinley) Winger. She married Martin Davis, who preceded her in death.

She was a seamstress at Balliet's in Oklahoma City for many years and moved to McLoud in 1949. She was a member of First Baptist Church of McLoud where she taught Sunday School. She also was a member of the Cheerful Workers Club.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; a sister, Daisy Winger, and a grandson, James Davis.

Survivors include a daughter, Louise Jorgensen of Seagrove, N.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, Hugh and Beverly Davis of Longville, Minn.; Wayne and Rosalie Davis of McLoud; Ken and Bridgette Davis of Burnsville, Minn.; a sister, Bertha Greenhaw of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Dale Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Taylor officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Zola G. Woodruff
McLoud resident Zola G. Woodruff, 87, died Friday, Aug. 15, in McLoud.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Clydene and Robert Stanfield of McLoud; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Paul Woodruff of Dallas; Donnie and Nancy Woodruff of Yanush; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Sharon Everhart of Oklahoma City; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of McLoud. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service of Harrah.

Joe King Shirley
Former Konawa resident Joe King Shirley, 87, died Friday, Aug. 15, at a Dallas hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Shirley of the home in Carrolton, Texas; two sons, Joe Shirley of Coppell, Texas; Frank Shirley of Konawa; a daughter, Delane Shirley of White River, Ariz.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Konawa with the Rev. Pam Shirk officiating. Burial will follow at Konawa Cemetery.

Carmel Columbus
Shawnee resident Carmel Columbus, 83, passed away Tuesday August 14, in Shawnee.

She was born Oct. 22, 1923, to George and Georgia (Lopez) Vasquez in Norman.

Andrew Columbus married the love of his life and "his diamond" Nov. 9, 1940. They had six children - 'their jewels".

She worked for Harps Dairy for 15 years. She then was the head cook at El Burrito for 34 years.

She was a faithful member of St. Benedict Catholic Church for more than 30 years and a member of the Parrish Guild.

She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, animals, traveling, and spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Andrew Columbus; son, Andrew Columbus Jr.; grandsons, Timothy Hollingsworth Jr., and Leo Napier; granddaughter, Gina E. France; son-in-law, William "Asa" Duncan; brother, George C. Vasquez; and sister Viola Silva.

Survivors include her daughters, Velia Heller and husband, Jerry, Carmelita Duncan, Loretta Windsor and husband, Vance, Elizabeth Columbus-Wall and husband, Jack; son, Daniel Joe Columbus; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Bennie Rivas, and Pauline Enochs; many nieces and nephews, some of which were Mr. and Mrs. Edward English, Francis and Don Stevens, Nancy and Jack Beckham, Linda (Columbus) Crawford, Juanita Vasquez; and her dogs, Bonita and Blackjack.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 p.m. today at St. Benedict Catholic Church with the Rev. Maurus Jaeb, OSB officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Walter A. Mathews
Longtime Shawnee resident Walter A. Mathews, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Aug. 15.

Walter was born Dec. 6, 1923, to Walter S. and Lela (Thrasher) Mathews in Hutchinson, Kan.

Walter went to high school in Kansas and then attended Kansas State University.

He married Jannie Matthews and the enjoyed 52 years together before she died in 1999.

He was a conductor for Rock Island Railroad for more than 30 years before retiring. Walter was a member of the First Christian Church of Shawnee.

Walter and Jannie loved to travel all across the United States. One of their favorite places to go was Branson, Mo.

Also preceding him in death were his parents; and a sister, Gladys Ryan.

He is survived by his children, Kathleen Mathews Taylor of Ithica, N.Y., Edgar Mathews, James Mathews, and Bruce Mathews and wife, Melinda, all of Shawnee; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Jimmie Earl Fairman
Seminole resident Jimmie Earl Fairman, 61, died Friday, Aug. 15, at his home.

Survivors include his mother, Doris Fairman; wife, Theressa Fairman of the home; son, Jimmie Earl Fairman Jr. of Oklahoma City; three daughters, Barbara Jean of Florida, Patricia Anderson of Oklahoma City and Cristine Rowe of Ohio; a stepdaughter, Nattie Marie Brown of Ohio; a sister, Ginger Holt of Cromwell and 15 grandchildren.

Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.
