Floy (Roach) Turner
Tecumseh resident Floy (Roach) Turner, 91, died Monday, Aug. 20, in Tecumseh.

She was born July 1, 1916, in Simpson (Pope County), Ark., to William and Flora (Simpson) Roach.

She was married Dec. 24, 1935, in Anadarko to Delmer Turner. He preceded her in death April 19, 1990.

Floy has lived in Oklahoma since 1927, living in Pottawatomie County since 1938.

Following their marriage, she and her husband, Delmer, lived on the farm in Caddo County until moving to Pottawatomie County in 1938. They made their home in the Macomb area.

Floy was a homemaker and worked for OU Food Service from 1964 to 1979.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Bertie Jackson.

Survivors include two sisters, Lois Bandy of Chowchilla, Calif., and Rita Marie Viles of Mangum, Okla.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Verma Sears of Tecumseh, Pat and Bruce Turner of Three Rivers, Calif., and Lois and Fred Robinson of California; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will gather at the funeral home from 6 p.m.. to 8 p.m. today.

Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Kevin Rainer officiating. Burial will be at Prairie View Cemetery.

Don L. White
Newalla resident Don L. White, 68, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, in Newalla.

He was born Oct. 8, 1939, in Cleveland County, Okla., to Thomas and Minnie (Little Creek) White.

Don had lived most of his life in Cleveland County. He also lived a short time in Bakersfield, Calif.,

He attended Stella Schools and served in the U.S. Army.

He did many types of contract construction work with the tribe. Don also worked in maintenance at the Resource Center. He taught the Absentee Shawnee Native American language at the Cultural Preservation Center.

Don was a member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe. He was currently on the Tribal Elders Counsel and was the spokesperson for traditional ceremonies and other tribal functions.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Neldean Little Charley, Virginia White and Louella Blanchard; one niece and one nephew.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Clellen Cody of Newalla; one granddaughter, Kristen Cody of Newalla; one grandson, Dakoda Cody of Newalla; two sisters, Edith Goodman and Ruth Blanchard, both of Newalla; and numerous friends and other family members.

Graveside service will be Friday morning at the White Family Cemetery with George Blanchard officiating.

Pfc. Loyd Harold Teague
Former Shawnee resident Pfc. Loyd Harold Teague, 84, currently of Damascus, Ark., went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Aug. 21, in Conway, Ark. `

He was born Feb. 22, 1923, in Floyada, Texas, to David and Laura Mae (Smith) Teague.

Loyd grew up in Texas. He also lived in Shawnee and Gore, Okla., before moving to Arkansas in 1999.

He was a World War II Veteran, serving with the U.S. Army.

He was married June 10, 1942, to Eleanor Jean Snider. She preceded him in death on May 24, 2004.

Loyd attended Abundant Faith Baptist Church in Greenbrier, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 63 years, Eleanor Jean (Snider) Teague; his parents, David and Laura Teague; son-in-law, Bo Dixon; one sister, Lorraine Anderson; five brothers, C.C., J.W., Tom, Paul, and Larry; and one granddaughter, Susan Spears

Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Mae Dixon of the home; one son, David Heber Teague of Damascus, Ark.; four grandchildren, Sgt. 1st Class (R) Floyd "Podgey" Spears of Bauxite, Ark., Kimberly and Harold Krieg of Damascus, and Brian and Michelle Teague of Damascus; seven great-grandchildren, Pfc. Loyd Matthew Spears of Shawnee, Sierra Dixon of the home, Buster Hines, Tyler and Kayla Krieg of Damascus, Gracie Layne Spears of Bauxite, Ark., and Ra' Kai Teague of Damascus.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee with Don Pate officiating.

Meggan Sierra Corbin
Shawnee resident Meggan Sierra Corbin, 15, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, at her residence.

Service will be 3:30 p.m. Monday at Chapel of Walker Funeral Service under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Everett Loman
Everett Loman, 86, died Thursday at his home in Shawnee.

He was born March 28, 1916, in Ada to Leonard and Bertha Loman. He graduated from Ada High School.

He worked in the energy industry from before World War II to 1965. He moved to Shawnee from Farmington, N.M., and was a business owner from 1965 to 2002.

He married Dorothy Rose Schottel on Jan. 25, 1949, at Farmington, N.M.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Loman of Shawnee; one son, Everett Ray Loman Jr. of Shawnee; two daughters, Patty Deleon of Shawnee and Lana Charlton of Cushing; grandson, Chad Pope of Shawnee, one sister, Lee Trout of Albuquerque, N.M.; one brother, Elmo Loman of Yuba City, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Shawnee or St. Benedict Catholic Church.

Services will be at noon Monday at St. Benedict Church with the Rev. Maurus Jaeb, O.S.B. officiating. Burial is in Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Janice Nadine Niederee Joseph
Janice Nadine Niederee Joseph, 69, died Friday at her home in Seminole.

Survivors include her daughters and a son-in-law, Brenda and Hal Patton and Nancy Paulk; brother, Dr. Curt Niederee; three grandsons, T.J. Patton, Nick Paulk and Cody Paulk, and several nephews.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole with the Rev. David Karges officiating. She will be buried in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Bruce Otto Vogt
Bruce Otto Vogt, 84, Shawnee, died Thursday at a local hospital.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Hill, of the home; stepchildren Barbara Taylor, John Bohannon, Joni Little and husband Michael; three stepgrandchildren, Brittany, Genny and Peter Little; one sister, Hazel Floyd, and one nephew, Larry Floyd.

A private service will be held in Florence, Colo., at Highland Cemetery.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Donald ("Don") George Mayfield
Donald ("Don") George Mayfield went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Aug. 22.

He was born Feb. 29, 1932, in Spaulding, Okla., to Katholee Elizabeth and Oran Monroe Mayfield.

He attended school in Holdenville where he excelled in athletics. He was an outstanding quarterback, being awarded All-Conference in football and went on to play at Eastern A&M before serving four years in the U.S. Navy.

He had a 27 year career in the trucking business ("Hacksaw") before retiring in 1989. It was then that he met and married his soulmate, Tommie Sue Martinez, and they enjoyed 18 years doting over their blended family.

Don was an avid outdoorsman, student of the Bible and Sooners and Dallas Cowboys football fan. During his younger days, he enjoyed field trial competitions on horseback with his dad and brother, raising and working his pedigreed bird dogs and fishing at Lake Eufaula with family and friends.

During his retirement, he volunteered many hours in service to the Lord, taking on the new construction and beautification of his church home, Lakeview Church of Christ, and especially delighted in football season and Tommie's homemade meals. Don loved nature and animals and was in awe of the Lord's magnificent creation. He did not hesitate to share his wisdom, deep abiding faith and love of God with all who knew him. Don was an artist and there were few things he could not create, build or repair to the last detail. He and buddy, Jim Bell, were always taking on and arguing their way through special projects.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dean Mayfield.

He is survived by his wife, Tommie of the home; daughters, Kathy Clark and husband, Jamie, of Dallas, Elizabeth Meyers and husband, Anthony, of Edmond, Christina Martinez of Dallas; sons, Mike Martinez and wife, Ranelle, of San Antonio, Wesley Mayfield of Woodward; grandsons, Nathan Bebo, Samuel Clark, Brandon Mayfield, Cameron Meyers, Caleb Meyers, Mike Matthew Martinez, Addison Martinez; granddaughter, Tiffany Finn; sisters, Vinita Hardwick and Laverne Baxter, both of Tulsa; nieces and nephews, friends and church family too numerous to mention and his adored baby girls, schnauzers Mini-Me and Braxton.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Lakeview Church of Christ, Hwy. 102 in Shawnee. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery on Hwy 102.

Edward Louis Saiz
Prague resident Edward "Ed" Louis Saiz, departed this life on Sat., Aug. 25, in Prague at the age of 18.

Edward was born May 22, 1989, in Albuquerque, N.M., to Ambrosio Saiz and Patricia Ann (Scott) Anderson.

He made his home in Prague for the past five years. He previously worked as a technician at L&L Oil Company in Prague.

Ed was a proud graduate of the Gordon Cooper Technology Center auto technician program. He was a musician who loved music and his friends.

He is survived by a special friend, Martha LaJoie of Prague; father, Ambrosio Saiz of Albuquerque; parents, Patricia Ann and Kevin Anderson of Prague; sister, Rebekah Saiz of Prague; brother, Ronnie Saiz of Albuquerque; grandparents, Harold and Gloria Scott of Blanco, N.M., Elizabeth Anderson of Prague; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in New Mexico and Prague, many friends.

Ed's family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home.

Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel with Bro. Tim Emmons officiating.

Ed's final resting place will be the San Juan River Valley in New Mexico.
