Hilda J. Turnbull

Age 85, Elgin - Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday in the Paradise Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Donny Crittendon, pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Turnbull died Wednesday in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Burial will be in the Paradise Valley Cemetery under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.

She was born June 27, 1920 at Fletcher, Oklahoma, to Dempsey W. and Henryetta E. Smith. She had lived in this area all of her life. She was married to Benson H. Turnbull on July 27, 1939 at Lawton. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2003. She and her husband had owned and operated the Porter Hill Grocery and Station for 28 years. She was a member of the Paradise Valley Baptist Church and the Eastern Star of Elgin.

Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Don and Vicki Turnbull, Corpus Christi, Texas; four granddaughters, Monica Adamson, Donlyn Jones, Heather Turnbull and Jennifer Langley; three grandsons, Charles Turnbull, Cody Ramos and Ben Lederman; five great grandchildren, Grayson Jones, Cody Adamson, Jordan Adamson, Ashley Adamson and Kinzie Jones; a great great granddaughter, Tristan Dawn Adamson; a sister, Stella Turnbull, Corpus Christi, Texas.

A son, Chuck Edward Turnbull, three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

1SG (Retired) Charles Richard Gill

Age 58, Lawton - Services will be at 9:30 AM Thursday at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel.

Sgt Gill died Friday at his home.

Burial with full military honors will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin under the direction of Becker Funeral Home.

He was born July 19, 1947 in Norristown, Pennsylvania to Charles C. and Caroline S. (Famous) Gill. He married Hai Thi Le on September 14, 1970 in Bien Hoa, Vietnam. Sgt Gill was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from the Army after 22 years of service. He then worked as a certified mechanic for Montgomery Ward in the Automotive Center for 10 years and was currently working at the Auto Craft Shop at Fort Sill.
Survivors include his wife; of the home, four children; Snow Sherman and her husband Scott, Chickasha, Caroline Bennett and her husband David, David Gill and his wife Kimberly, and Kim Mi Bickle and her husband Edward, all of Lawton, and thirteen grandchildren; Alexandria, Tommy, Jr., Jace, Victor, Mason, Patrick, Justin, Zachery, Jesse James, Wyatt, Christopher, Daniel, and Jonathan.

Buster C. Self

Age 88, Lawton - Services will be 2:00 PM Monday in the Cameron Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Jones, Pastor, and Rev. Mike Teel, Associate Pastor, officiating.

Mr. Self died Thursday in a local hospital.

Burial will be in the Mountain Park Cemetery, Mountain Park, under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.

He was born on May 8, 1918, North of Mountain Park, Oklahoma to Otis and May (Lance) Self. He farmed around the Tipton Area from 1945 until 1966. He then moved into Tipton and worked for the Oklahoma State Highway Department for 15 years, retiring at the age of 63. He moved to Altus in 1983 and then to Lawton in 1990. He was a member of Cameron Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jan Laseter and Billy of Whitney, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Dean Self and Sharon of Lawton; five grandchildren, Misty Chandler and her husband, Daniel, of Lawton; Neil Self and his wife, Cheryl, of Cache; Dustin Self and his wife, Kim, of Cache; Mark Andrews and his wife, Linda, of Lawton; and Matthew Andrews and his wife, Cheyenne, of Germany; 12 great grandchildren, Aaron, Austin, Ethan, Tarran, Jagger, Jordan, Jerni, Summer, Joshua, Mark, Adam and Richard; four sisters, Pauline Edwards of Apache, Juanita Harold of Snyder, Christine Hewitt and her husband, Conrad, of Pennsylvania, and Pauletta Jestice and her husband, Paul, of Bethany; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

His parents, a brother, Olen Self, and a sister, Ruby Coley, preceded him in death.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cameron Baptist Church Building Fund, 2621 SW ‘C’ Avenue, Lawton, Oklahoma 73505.

Anjila Joan Grimsley

Age 43, Lawton - Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Cliff Gravitt, pastor, Northside Baptist Church, officiating.

Ms. Grimsley died Monday in Lawton.

Burial will be in the Temple City Cemetery, Temple, Oklahoma.

The family will greet friends Thursday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

She was born April 26, 1963 in Lawton to Jerome Roy and Onita L. (Robertson) Grimsley. She was a graduate of MacArthur High School. She was employed by the Director of Environment at Fort Sill.

Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Twyla and Jeris Sample of Claremore; nephews, Eric Sample, Sean Sample, and Kevin Sample; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and great-nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Ryan Sample.

Ingeborg Theresia Maguffee

Age 78, Richland, Michigan - Graveside service will be 11:00 AM Friday at the Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, with Ron Babbit, Minister, Contact Church of Christ, Tulsa, officiating.

Mrs. Maguffee died Sunday in Richland, Michigan.

Burial will be under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

She was born on September 23, 1928 in Linz, Austria to Oskar and Anna Waldes. She married CWO (Retired) Bob L. Maguffee in Linz, Austria on April 14, 1948. He passed away on March 1, 2002. They were married for 53 years. She traveled with her husband in the military to many places, moving to Lawton in 1965. She moved to Richland, Michigan in 2002.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Nelson and Gary of Anaheim, California and Susan Slack and Randy of Richland, Michigan; a son and daughter-in-law, Major (Retired) Michael Maguffee and Diana of Tulsa; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

1SG (Retired) Alfredo Perez, Sr.

Age 75, Lawton - Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Monday in the Holy Family Catholic Church with Chaplain (LTC) Neal Buckon, Fort Sill, officiating.

Sergeant Perez died Thursday at his home.

A rosary service will be held Sunday at 5:00 pm at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel.

Burial will be in the Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.

He was born May 12, 1931 in Whittier, California to Florencio and Petra Perez. He joined the Army and served in Korea and Vietnam. He received numerous medals including the Korean Service Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Purple Heart, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm, National Defense Service Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster, Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), Good Conduct Medal (Sixth Award), Eleven Overseas Bars, United Nations Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. He married Henriette Ulaga in Chickasha, Oklahoma on December 22, 1965. She died on January 19, 1990.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Alfredo Perez, Jr. and Allison of El Paso, TX, and Juan Rodriguez and Leyda of Cache, OK; five grandchildren, Rhys Rodriguez, Matthew Johnson, Jourdan Muenster, Max Weis, and Joe Weis; his mother, Petra Perez; two sisters, Manuela Varela and her husband, Manuel, and Pilar Perez; a friend, Rosamaria; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father and wife.

Hazel Dee Robbins

Age 89, Fletcher - Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 4, 2007 at the First Baptist Church, Fletcher with Brother A. L. Swagerty and Rev. Rodney Campbell, pastor, First Baptist Church, Fletcher officiating.

Mrs. Robbins died Monday.

Burial will be in Elgin Memorial Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Becker Funeral Home of Fletcher (formerly Robbins Funeral Home).

She was born December 6, 1917 in Galt, Missouri to Jasper William and Jessie Edith (Carnes) Willis. She came to Oklahoma from Missouri at six months of age. She grew up near Devol, where she attended school. She married Homer W. Robbins on January 18, 1936 in Walters. He died May 9, 2004. She and her husband moved to Elgin in 1938. They also lived in Cement and Rush Springs before returning to the Farm in Elgin in 1956. She had been a resident of Fletcher since 1990. Mrs. Robbins was a member of the First Baptist Church, Fletcher. She taught Junior Girls Sunday School for many years at First Baptist Church in Elgin. She was also a member of the Mistletoe Neighborly Club. She loved quilting and gardening.

Survivors include a son; Dale Robbins and his wife Carolyn, Fletcher a daughter; Janette Tate and her husband Luther, Elgin, four grandchildren; Alan Robbins and his wife Kathy, Chickasha, Dana Hodge, Chickasha, Tracy Spelce, Springfield, Missouri, and Brian Tate and his wife Christy, Elgin, and six great grandchildren; Shelby Hodge, Harrison Hodge and Ryan Hodge, all of Chickasha, Cassie Tate and Alison Tate, both of Elgin, and Zachary Robbins, Chickasha.

She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters; Morene Winkle, Mabel Lake and Vida Green and two brothers; Clifford and J. J. Willis.

Imogene Miller

Age 87, Lawton - Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM Tuesday at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Dr. William F. Watkins, associate pastor at First Baptist Church officiating.

Mrs. Miller died Saturday in a local hospital.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

She was born October 4, 1919 in Cassville, Missouri to David Andrew and Rosabelle (Brooks) Beck. She moved to Anadarko at the age of 2 and graduated from Anadarko High School. Mrs. Miller came to Lawton in 1951. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 42 years retiring in 1979. She married Wesley Miller on January 1, 1951 in Lawton. He died September 17, 2002.

Mrs. Miller was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, and the Southwestern Bell Pioneer Club and was a volunteer at the Holy City Easter Pageant. She attended the first Easter Pageant in 1926.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by four brothers; Elzie, Ilis, Clinton and Woodrow Beck and three sisters; Hester, Frances and Virginia.
