Joan "Pat" Stewart Christie
Shawnee resident Joan "Pat" Stewart Christie, 76, died Friday, Sept. 28, in Shawnee.

Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Sharon Baptist Church. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Dustin Clay Coleman
Prague resident Dustin Clay Coleman departed this life on Wednesday, Sept. 26, in Paden, Okla., at the age of 17, with his sister, Carmalica LeShea Holley.

Dustin Clay Coleman was born March 30, 1990, in Shawnee to Michael John Coleman and LaDonna Kay Brauer. He was a senior at Paden High School.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, LaDonna and Glenn Martin of Prague; father and step-mother, Mike and Doreen Coleman of Paden; brothers, Chris Coleman and Michael Coleman, both of the home; grandmothers, Avis Coleman of Paden, Ruth Holley of Chickasha, Freda Bailey of Prague and Evelyn Martin of Prague; step-brothers, Wade Martin of Prague and Willie Bell of San Antonio, Texas; step-sisters, Crystal Saldana, Raven West and Rachele Eakins; special friend, Miranda Mayfield; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; many friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Prague with Bro. Tim Emmons and Steve Truelock officiating. Burial will follow at the Paden Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Shirley Mae Wajda
Shawnee resident Shirley Mae Wajda, 76, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Church of the Living God with Pastor Keith Ward and Bro. Robert Ingram officiating. Burial will be at Dale Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Bobby Nolen
Shawnee resident Bobby Nolen, 68, died Sunday, Sept. 26, in Shawnee.

He was born Dec. 6, 1935, in Oklahoma City to Clarence and Cornelia Nolen.

He attended McLoud High School.

He retired from Seagate Technology. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960.

He was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church.

On Oct. 22, 1955, Nolan married Betty Geisler in Shawnee.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Alton Nolen.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Nolen, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Karen Nolen of Shawnee; one daughter, Marjeana Nolen of Atlanta, Ga.; one grandson, Austin Nolen of Shawnee; stepmother, Maxine Nolen of Norman; two sisters and brother-in-law, Pat and Keith Burbank of Norman and Ann Coreil of Baton Rouge, La.; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Methodist Church Building Fund or Good Shepherd Hospice, 4350 Will Rogers Parkway, Suite 400, Oklahoma City OK. 73108.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Chapel with Rockford Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Resthaven Funeral Home is directing arrangements.

Melvin A. Brown
Shawnee resident Melvin A. Brown, 61, died Monday, Sept. 27, at a local hospital.

He was born Dec. 21, 1942, in Shawnee to Argel and Gladys (Beal) Brown.

He was a 1960 graduate of Shawnee High School.

He married Sharon Selby in 1962 in Shawnee.

Brown served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1964. He worked for Newton Walls, Borden Dairy, Shawnee Block Plant and Chapman Construction. In 1979, he began work at General Motors.

He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local No. 1999.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon, of the home; four children, Leslie Temple, Steven Brown and wife, Becky, all of Shawnee, Lori Jones and husband, Stephen, Cheryl LeClair and husband, Cory, all of Tecumseh; nine grandchildren, Justin Waller, Heather Waller, Charles Temple, Jordan Brown, Shelby Weston, Hannah Weston, Conner Jones, Joey Jones and Emily LaClair; one great-grandchild, Gabriel Vance.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service in Shawnee with Bill Matthews officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee.

Jamie Floyd Conger
McAlester resident Jamie Floyd Conger, 29, died Monday, Sept. 27, in McAlester.

Memorial donations may be made to Swearingen Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.

Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.

Swearingen Funeral Home is directing arrangements.

Pricie B. Shafer
Longtime Chandler resident Pricie B. Shafer, 92, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, in Chandler.

She was born Aug. 14, 1912, in Chandler to Price and Roseanna (Massie) Walters.

On July 16, 1930, she married Ray Samuel Shafer in Okemah.

She was a homemaker and lifelong member of the First Assembly of God Church in Chandler.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter; two brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Bill Shafer of Chandler and Ray C. Shafer of Tulsa; one daughter, Sue Galbraith of Chandler; one sister, Nataline Collins of Chandler, two nieces; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and other relatives and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the First Assembly of God Church in Chandler with the Rev. Doyle Seeley officiating. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler.

Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler is directing arrangements.

Joan "Pat" Stewart Christie
Shawnee resident, Joan "Pat" Stewart Christie, 76, went home to be with Jesus Friday, Sept. 28.

Pat was born July 13, 1931, in Williamsport, PA. to L. Edward and Belle (Weaver) Stewart. She graduated from Warren High School in 1951 and went to work at New Process Co. in Warren, Pa. Later she went on to work for 10 years at a local dry cleaner in Warren.

In 1954, she married her one and only sweetheart, William "Bill" Christie, and they enjoyed 53 wonderful years of love and laughter.

Bill was in the military for many years, so they lived all over the world and finally settled down in Sacramento, Calif. While in California she was an avid volunteer at a local hospital, where she volunteered over 5,000 hours. She was also an active member of Florin United Methodist Church.

They moved to Shawnee in February of 2002. Pat was a member of Broadway United Methodist church and frequently attended Sharon Baptist Church. She loved to sing in the choir and listening to Big Band music. Pat was a member of TOPS in California, Oklahoma and Korea. She loved ceramics, camping, sight seeing, crocheting, and collecting lighthouses. She was a lifelong cat lover and had them around her house most of her life. Through all of this, the one thing Pat was most proud of was her identical twin sons.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Bill Christie of the home; her children, Michael Christie and wife Elsie of Shawnee, Mark Christie and wife Yvonne of Tobyhanna, Pa.; grandchildren, Kim Christie and Matthew Christie of Pa., and Alexander Christie of Shawnee.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Sharon Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Heart Association.

Minnie Ann "Mitzi" Hecker
Houston, Texas resident Minnie Ann "Mitzi" Hecker, 89, passed away Friday, Sept. 14, surrounded by her family at her home in Houston.

Minnie's passing is a great loss to her family and friends. She was a model wife, mother, aunt and grandmother, who always put family and her Jewish heritage first.

A leader in her community, she touched the lives of many people from Shawnee, where she was born to, Gladewater, Texas, where she raised her two sons with Husband Sid. Minnie took an active role in the PTA, Boy Scouts, band parents, synagogue, local civic groups and charity organizations.

Settling in Houston with Sid to be near her sons, Minnie gave of her time and her boundless energy to several organizations, such as B'nai B'rith and ORT America, and to those in need. She was kind to everyone she met, and will be remembered as truly generous and selfless person. After Sid's death, Minnie moved to Westbrae Court, where she was known as an "angel," looking after the welfare of many of the other residents.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Sid; parents, Alick and Rose Frankel; and sister, Margaret Thaler.

She is survived by her son, Don Hecker and wife, Marcia; sisters-in-law , Lori Hecker and Dorothy Rosenbaum; grandchildren, Stacey and David Lanza, Shari and Justin Sanders, Michael Hecker, Jennifer Hecker and Carl Smith, Ben Hecker, and Yael Young; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Sydney Sanders; and special friends, Thelma Atlas and Marty Kaufman.

Graveside service was Monday, Sept. 17, at Beth Yeshurun Post Oak Cemetery, Rabbi Jack Segal officiated. A memorial service followed at Westbrae Court.

Arrangements were under the direction of Houston Jewish Funerals.

Pauline Robertson
Pauline Robertson, 79, Shawnee, died Sunday at her home.

She was born Oct. 12, 1922, in Shawnee to Arthur Hodge McDonald and Stella Victoria (Potter) McDonald.

Robertson attended and graduated from Shawnee High School. She owned and operated Pauline Beauty Shop in Shawnee.

On Oct. 16, 1969, she married R.B. Robertson in Enid.

She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Shawnee and Wives of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Preceding her in death were her parents, and husband.

Surviving are their children, Michael Farrall and wife, Priscella, of Austin, Texas; Jackye Baker of Houston, Texas; Vickie Sims of Lawton and Vandra Hale and companion Brenda Savage of Round Rock, Texas; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Thomas Pringle of Shawnee; brother and sister-in-law, Hodge and Vera McDonald of Shawnee; nephew and niece-in-law, Tom and Amber Pringle of Shawnee.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Matthews officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
