MSG (Retired) Douglas F. “Poppy” Brothers, Sr.

Age 63, Lawton - Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Wayne Morrow and Rev. Doug Brothers, Jr., officiating.

Sergeant Brothers died Wednesday at his residence.

Burial with full military honors will be in Highland Cemetery.

He was born February 7, 1944 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, to Charles Raymond and Irene Miller Brothers. He grew up in Bridgeport, Ohio, and graduated high school in 1962. He married Harriet Dixon on April 9, 1963 at Lansing, Ohio.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in January of 1963 and he was retired from the U.S. Army on March 31, 1983 after more than 20 years of service and two tours of duty in Vietnam. Following his retirement he worked for Civil Service at Fort Sill with the track shop at the Field Artillery School and later for Priest Brothers Wrecker Service. He was a member of Western Hills Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son and daughter in law, Doug and Linda Brothers, Jr., Stillwater, Oklahoma; two daughters and sons in law, Debbie and Kevin Vest, Watauga, Texas, and Denise and Michael Shang McKenzie, Lawton; two brothers and sisters in law, James and Shirley Brothers and David and Sandy Brothers, all of Bridgeport, Ohio; six grandchildren, Rebeka Vest, Ashley Brothers, Dustin Brothers, Abbie McKenzie, Jakob McKenzie and Rylie Vest.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Oklahoma, PO Box 2074, Lawton, Oklahoma 73502.

John M. Meadors

Age 80, Lawton - Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma with Dr. David King, pastor, Calvary Baptist Church, officiating.

Mr. Meadors died Tuesday in his home.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.

He was born September 10, 1926 in Mountainburg, Arkansas to Claude and Lillie (Parker) Meadors. He joined the Army on November 24, 1944. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal with 4 bronze loops, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He retired on April 1, 1965 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He married Florence Oshiro on February 18, 1950 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

He is survived by his wife of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Dwight and Debbie Meadors of Lawton; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Don Hoon of Central High; 6 grandchildren, Kathy Adams, James Meadors, Brian Meadors, Cheryl Meadors, Stephen Hoon, and Angela Hoon; 2 great grandchildren, Lacey Hoon and Keagan Hoon; and 3 sisters, Indianola Williams, Geneva Perry both of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Josephine Tomlinson of Winslow, Arkansas.

His parents and 4 siblings, Joe Meadors, Norma Shakelford, Lucille Schader and Lena Sheperd preceded him in death.

Darrell P. “Baldy” Smith

Age 82, Lawton - Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Smith died Monday at his residence.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.

He was born September 25, 1924 in Cecil, Arkansas, to Fred and Ora Williams Smith. He grew up in Arkansas and attended school in Cecil. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp and moved to Lawton in his early 20’s. He married Ruby Faye Owen on April 24, 1953 in Conway, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on March 28, 1986. He later married Vicki Palmer on November 8, 1992 in Charleston, Arkansas.

He worked for U.S. Oil Company for several years and later owned his own independent oil production company until the time of his death. He was a member of the International Order of Oddfellows and the Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Producers.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; three daughters and a son in law, Darlene and Greg Jung, Lawton; Sue A. Smith, Duncan, and Maurine Smith, Lawton; an adopted son, Christopher Palmer Smith, Lawton; six grandchildren, Jason and Stacy Dittsworth, Shelby and Meaghan Jung, Dereck McPherson and Zachary Smith; three great grandchildren, Connor Beech, Brock Johnson and Nathan Dittsworth; a brother, Billy Wayne Smith, Charleston, Arkansas; a sister, Eula Mae Huffman, Ratcliff, Arkansas; a step daughter, Lacy Palmer, Lawton.
His parents, four brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Milton T. Nunn

Age 59, Lawton - Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Nunn died Saturday in Lawton.

Burial will be at 3:00 PM Wednesday at Hanna Cemetery in Hanna, Oklahoma.

He was born October 1, 1948 at Fort Sill to Walter and Lena (Holmes) Nunn. Mr. Nunn graduated from Lawton High School in 1967.

Survivors include his parents, a brother and sister-in-law, Bryan and Hazel Nunn, a daughter, Sarah Murphy, a granddaughter, Rylin, two nieces, Natalie Johnson and Stephanie Nunn, two great nieces, Mikalyn and Kylee Johnson, three great nephews, Josh, Colton and Hunter Nunn and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hanna Cemetery, Hanna, OK 74845.

Hugh C. Swink

Age 82, Geronimo - Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at the Walters Cemetery, Walters with Rev. Dr. Daniel A. Martin, chaplain, Hospice of Southwest Oklahoma and Pastor Leonard R. Presley, pastor of Post Oak Mennonite Brethren Church, Indiahoma officiating.

Mr. Swink died Saturday in a local hospital.

Burial will be under the direction of Becker Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday at the Hart – Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.

He was born July 28, 1925 in Swink, Oklahoma to Robert and Hettie Swink. Mr. Swink grew up in southeastern Oklahoma. He married Mary L. Bowen in 1952 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She died in 1982. They moved to Walters in the early 1960’s. He drove an oil transport truck for his brother-in-law, B. L. Spanhanks. After his wife died he moved to Geronimo to live with his daughter and son-in-law. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Walters.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary K. and John Van Noy, Geronimo, two sons, Julius Bowen, II and his wife Andrea, Pawnee, and Phillip Bowen, California, four grandchildren, Julius Bowen, III and his wife, Hugo, Oklahoma, Samuel Van Noy and his wife Leah, Geronimo, Debbie Lowe and her husband Mike, Geronimo and Sabrina Lesley, Hugo, twenty four great grandchildren one great great grandchild, three sisters-in-law, Ruth Fuller, Hugo, Betty Troutman, California and Katherine Swink, Swink, Oklahoma and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Bernice Zimmerman, Ida Mae Swink, Margie Meadows and May Belle Swink and two brothers, Robert and Billy Swink.

RONALD M. BAUGHMAN
Age, 58, Cache, Funeral services will be 12:30 pm Thursday in the Geronimo High School Gymnasium with Rev. Bill Crow, officiating.

Mr. Baughman died Monday in a Lawton hospital.

Burial with military honors will be in the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.

He was born February 3, 1946 in Lawton to Marvin Lee and Maudie Emaleen (Crow) Baughman. He grew up in Geronimo and was a graduate of Geronimo High School and was an All-Area Basketball Player. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968 and was a veteran of Vietnam. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from Cameron University in 1971 and played in the National Junior College World Series as a pitcher while at Cameron. He later earned his Masters of Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1990 and his Standard Secondary Principal Certificate from there in 1992. He was married to Lynda Crabtree on April 30, 1976 at Cache, Oklahoma.

He began his teaching career at Empire Public Schools in 1972 as a teacher/coach. He later worked a brief time for Roadway Express Freight Company and Blue Cross and Blue Shield before returning to his school career which included being the Junior and Senior High School Assistant Principal and later Principal at Geronimo Public School, the Junior and Senior High School Principal at Grandfield Public School, the Middle School Principal at Frederick Public School and at the time of his illness, the Principal at Indiahoma School.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; daughter and son in law, Traci and Danny Holley, Yukon; two sons and daughter in law, Todd and Linda Baughman, Vernon, Texas, and Ryan Baughman, of the home; his mother, Emaleen Baughman Payne, Wichita Falls, Texas; his sister and brother in law, Peggy and Jerry Jackson, Nocona, Texas; a brother and sister in law, Woody and Kathy Baughman, Grandfield, Oklahoma; a brother in law, Ernie Mickley, Carnegie, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Jace, Madison, Makenzie, Keaton and Cassidy as well as several nieces, nephews and many extended family.

His father and a sister, Joyce Mickley, preceded him in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Geronimo High School.

George Allen Pinkley

Age 64, Cyril, Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at the First Assembly of God, Cyril, Oklahoma, with Rev. John West, Pastor officiating.

Mr. Pinkley died Friday, October 1, 2004 at his home.

Services are under the direction of Becker Funeral Home of Fletcher (Formerly Robbins Funeral Home).

Mr. Pinkley was born September 27, 1940 to Tom Edward and Eva (Myers) Pinkley in La Harpe, Kansas where he grew up and attended school. He joined the Navy in 1959 and was discharged in 1963 as an E-5 Shipboard Carpenter. He married Lois Marie Boddie on June 8, 1978 in West Helena, Arkansas. They lived in Elk City where he worked in the Oil Fields before moving to Cyril in 1981. He helped build the Temple Inland Wall Board Plant in Fletcher, retiring in 1995. He was currently working as a General Construction Contractor. George was an avid Fisherman.

Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Jeffery Chandler Pinkley, Cyril, Oklahoma; a brother, Eddie Pinkley, Kingman, Kansas; 3 sisters, Blanch Barnhart, Chanute, Kansas, Linda Taylor, Wichita, Kansas and Kathy Robbins, Wichita, Kansas; a niece he raised like a daughter, Timberly Jo Reynolds, Cyril, Oklahoma; a grandson, Chandler Pinkley.

Raymond Joe “Butch” Hatchett, Jr.

Age 60, Elgin - Funeral service with Masonic Rites will be 10:00 am Monday at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Don Crow, Minister, Church of Christ, Walters, officiating.

Mr. Hatchet died Thursday at his residence.

Burial will be in the Walters Cemetery, Walters.

He was born on January 17, 1945 in Walters to Raymond and LaDonna (Spence) Hatchett, Sr. He worked for the Haggar Slacks Company before working as a jeweler at Rocket Pawn and Jewelry. He married Karen Powell in Walters on May 28, 1964. He has been a member of the Masonic Fraternity since 1988 and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was also a member of the Shrine and a past director of the Lawton Shrine Klowns. He was a member of the Mount Scott Masonic Lodge #540 and a past master of the Apache Masonic Lodge #223.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Gary Hatchett and Bobby Hatchett and wife, Sonja, all of Lawton; four grandchildren, Gary Hatchett, Jr., Corey Hatchett, Hollie Hatchett and Jessica Hatchett; two great grandchildren, Trinity and Kaylee; his mother, LaDonna Urbin, Oklahoma City; a brother, Bobby Don Klein, Dallas, Texas; four sisters, Carol Combs, Oklahoma City, Susie Brightwell and husband Coy, Valdosta, Georgia, Vicky Scoggins and husband Keith, Arlington, Texas and Brenda Scoggins and husband Steve, Wichita, Kansas.

His father, stepfather, Robert Klein, and his stepmother, Dee Hatchett, preceded him in death.
