Fran Acock
Lifelong Shawnee resident Fran Acock, 81, died Saturday, June 23, at a local nursing home.

Fran was born Oct. 7, 1925, in Bethany, Okla., to Garvin Hill Logsdon and Ethel (Belyeu) Logsdon.

On Dec. 24, 1943, she married Lee Acock in Shawnee. He preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 2003.

Fran was in the interior design business. She was a member of the Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church, Women's Christian Ministries and held many offices in AGLOW.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Calvin Hill Logsdon and Billy Jo Logsdon; and sister, Betty Jane Paddock.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, William (Sonny) and Rita Acock of Mount Vernon, Ark., and Mark and Malinda Acock of Shawnee; five grandsons, Chris Acock and wife, Alicia, of Mount Vernon, Ark., Jeffrey Acock and wife, Becky, of Mount Vernon, Ark., Corbin Acock and wife, Heather, of Sillwater, and Ethan and Jordan Acock of Shawnee; two granddaughters, Tara Huckaby of Oklahoma City and Amanda Acock of Shawnee; one great-grandson, Cody Acock of Mount Vernon, Ark.; two great-granddaughters, Christa and Arin Acock of Mount Vernon, Ark.; two sisters, Helen Jernigan of Shawnee and Jean Vincent of Shawnee; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ruth Deatherage of Shawnee and Dorothy Logsdon of Oklahoma City; a number of nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Terry Vanlandingham and the Rev. Larry Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Lindell Vern Harris
Plano, Texas, resident Lindell Vern Harris died Friday, June 22, at the Medical Center of Plano at the age of 68.

The family will receive friends for visitation 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.

Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at the First Christian Church in Plano, Texas. Burial will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park.

Troy James Swafford
Wellston resident Troy James Swafford died Thursday, June 21.

Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wellston High School Gym. Burial will follow at the Rossville Cemetery, Rossville, Okla., under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.

Elsie McClanahan Showalter
Shawnee resident Elsie McClanahan Showalter, 83, died Thursday, June 21, in Shawnee.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

James R. Cochrane
Shawnee resident James R. Cochrane, 83, passed away Tuesday, June 19, after a brief illness.

Jim was born June 20, 1924, the baby of five children to Dr. Joseph E. and Birdie Green Cochrane of Byars.

Jim entered the military March 16, 1943, as a Navy Seaman Boot. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. Following an honorable discharge Feb. 23, 1946, as a Pharmacist Mate First Class Petty Officer, Jim attended and graduated from East Central State College in Ada.

On Feb. 17, 1949, Jim married Marcella Todd of Ada.

Jim and Marcie moved to Shawnee in the late '80s after he retired from the federal government where he helped to create both the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in Washington, D.C.

Jim was a deacon of the First Baptist Church, Shawnee, a member of the Shawnee Elks Club and the Diamond K. Kiwanis Club.

He was an avid golfer, football fan and political junkie.

He is survived by his spouse, Marcella Todd Cochrane; daughter Susan Cochrane Morris; grandson, Rob Morris; great-granddaughter, Justice Morris; and numerous other family members.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, Shawnee.

Barba Rae (Buoy) Ford
Shawnee resident Barba Rae (Buoy) Ford, 71, died Wednesday, June 20, in Shawnee.

She was born April 30, 1936, to Rome Edward and Iva Mae (Beatty) Buoy in Meeker.

She married Robert C. Ford on March 2, 1956.

Barba retired from Tinker Air Force Base. She also was a waitress at the Grand Caf and the Town Talk Caf. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and attended services at the Salvation Army. She enjoyed spending time with her family and playing bingo.

She was preceded in death were her parents, husband, step-mother, Alice Buoy; two brothers, James and George Buoy; and two sisters, Wanda Mae Moudy and Norma Ruth Bouy.

Survivors include four children, Charles Wayne Ford of the home, Donald Ray Ford and his wife, Deloris, of Prague, Shawnna Kay Dunaway and her husband, Paul, of Wewoka, and Ronald Dean Ford and his wife, Carla, of Shawnee; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three siblings, William E. Buoy of Shawnee, Effie Lou Walker and Gene of Meeker, and Robert Eugene Buoy and Melba of Prague; two sisters-in-law, Janice Lower and Leonard and Lee Ellen Williams all of Ft. Worth; aunt, Florence Jilge of Nicome Park; special friend, Alta Lynam of Shawnee; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Ellis Gregg officiating. Burial will be at Little Cemetery.

James Justin Collins
Shawnee resident James Justin Collins, 30, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, in Fort Smith, Ark

He was born Oct. 3, 1976, to Thomas and Joy (Posey) Collins in Shawnee. He attended Shawnee High School.

He loved to work outside, but most of all, he loved spending time with his children.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Belle Ancell; grandparents, W.P. Collins, Edna Collins, Carl and Emily Posey; uncles, James, Mike and Bill Posey and Glen Collins; aunt, Betty Spillars.

Survivors include his wife, Macie Collins of the home; two daughters, Mariah and Jaycie Collins; two sons, Dalton and T.J. Collins of the home; parents, Tom and Joy Collins of Shawnee; brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Vickie Stevens of Colorado; sisters and brothers-in-law, Tammy and Lee Cooper of Sapulpa, Carla and Jake Stewart of Okemah, Nellie and Don White of Tecumseh, Debbie Cassaday of Sapulpa; nieces, Starla and Daniel French of Shawnee, Amy and Gary Lee of Okemah, Kelby and Kylee White of Tecumseh, Tori, Elisabeth, and Zoe Boyce of Shawnee, and Courtney Boyce of Pink; nephews, Joey and Rikki Volner of Sapulpa, Anthony and Tonya Volner of Sapulpa, Kody White of Tecumseh and Aden Boyce of Pink, Jared Stevens of Florida; great-nieces, Emille Lever, Caylee Robinson, and Lauryn Volner; great-nephews, Ethan Lever, Gary Lee, Grant French, Gibson French, Landon Volner, Colton Volner; parents-in-law, David and Barbara Boyce; grandparents-in-law, Donald and Joann Boyce; sister-in-law, Codie and Stephen Besley; brother-in-law, Jessie and Krystal Boyce; many, many friends.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him

Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chris Steele officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Beverly Rose Collins
Shawnee resident Beverly Rose Collins, 72, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, at her residence.

Service information will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Walker Funeral Service.

The Rev. Havner L. Reid
Weleetka area resident the Rev. Havner L. Reid died Monday, Feb. 26, in Shawnee at the age of 84.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at the First Freewill Baptist Church in Weleetka with the Rev. Cecil Reid and the Rev. Havner L. Reid Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Likowski Cemetery under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home.

Garry Earle Ryan
Former Shawnee resident Garry Earle Ryan died Saturday, Feb. 17.

He was born Feb. 19, 1934, in St. Joseph, Mo., to Nelson H. and Vida (Tate) Ryan.

Garry spent his early childhood living in many parts of the United States as a member of an Air Force family. In 1946, his family settled in Shawnee where he graduated high school in 1952 and then attended Oklahoma A&M, Oklahoma Baptist University and The University of Oklahoma.

Garry served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957 and was an active reservist until 1965.

In 1958, he married Carol Ridenour and five children were born of that marriage.

He was a 42 year employee of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and a longtime member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Shawnee. He was a certified Track and Field official for many years and enjoyed quail and dove hunting.

He is survived by his children, Garry II, Karra Sipes, Paula Sendall, Sharra Wilson and Marla (Jeanie) Padron; grandchildren, Amy Cruz and Amanda Parker, Anouchka and Landry Ambouroue, Lexi Sendall, and Carlee and Alex Padron; and great-grandson, Caden Cruz.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hibbs Funeral Home in Choctaw.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Cemetery, Shawnee.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at Heartland Hospice of Norman or a favorite charity.

Eva J. McCullar
Tecumseh resident Eva J. "Meme" McCullar, 77, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, in Shawnee.

She was born June 23, 1929, in Coal, Okla., to Jess and Linda (Brown) Pullen. She attended Prairie Valley.

On April 6, 1946, she married Lin McCullar in Meeker. He preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 1991.

She and her husband made their home in Shawnee. In 1979, they moved to Tecumseh. They owned the Original Seamless Concrete Storm Cellar, established in 1948.

She was a homemaker. "Meme" was a very special grandmother to her grandsons, and loved her new great-granddaughter, Poppy. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, attending church, and working in the garden. She devoted her life to her family.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Renita Lynn McCullar in 1996; her parents; three sisters, Ruby Queen, Elizabeth Bickerstaff and Valera Aylor; and one brother, James C. Pullen.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ed Abel of Shawnee; grandsons and their wives, Rod and Allison Robinson of Tecumseh, Lang Bartmess of Tecumseh and Jesse and Katie Abel of Plano, Texas; granddaughter, Laura Rodriquez and her husband, Darryll, of Amarillo, Texas; great-grandchildren; Poplyn Hope Robinson, Kierston Rodriquez and Ayden Rodriquez.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Curt Bartmess officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.
