Howard Ray King
Eufaula resident Howard Ray King, 79, passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, at the Muskogee Regional Medical Center.

Howard was born Aug. 23, 1927, to Calvin Homer and Margariette Leona (Hunt) King, in Shamrock, Okla.

He graduated from high school and later attended OSU-Okmulgee. In 1945, Howard enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force.

On Aug. 8, 1947, he married Iva Jeanne Daley in Oklahoma City. They were happily married for 59 years.

Howard worked as an electronics technician. He was a ham radio operator for 40 years. He loved to fish. He always felt his greatest achievements were his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl and Herbert King; and sister Geraldyne Likens.

Survivors include his wife, Iva Jeanne of the home; daughter, Beverly Thackray and husband, Doug lee of Utah; brother, Bennie (Pepper) King and wife, Marylou of Shawnee; sisters, Anita Goodman and husband, Robert of Sapulpa, Pat Burke of Odessa, Texas; sisters-in-law, LaVerne King of Odessa, Opal King of Midwest City; three grandchildren, Roger and Mickelle Thackeray, BJ and Tia Johnstun and Tracy, and Jason Stephenson; two great grandchildren, Isabella Stephenson and Olivia Johnstun; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Kelley Memorial Chapel of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home, 401 N. Main, Eufaula.

Arrangements under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home.

Nellie Pauline McDaniel
Former Seminole resident Nellie McDaniel, 95, passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, in Everett, Wash.

She was born Dec. 6, 1911, to Thomas Bryan and Etta Nellie (McElroy) Carey in Wyatt, Mo.

She married her husband of 57 years, Lowell E. McDaniel in Sapulpa. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1986.

She was a Nanny for the David Boren family for many years as well as other families in the Seminole and Shawnee area. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seminole.

Also preceding her in death were her son, L.E. McDaniel; one brother, two sisters, one granddaughter and two nephews.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Barbara McDaniel of Bothell, Wash.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Nellie to Providence Hospice and Homecare of Snohomish County, 2731 Wetmore Avenue, Suite 500, Everett, Washington 98201.

Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. A reception will be held following the service at Omalee's, 206 N. Main in Seminole. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at South Height Cemetery, Sapulpa.

Thomas R. Rabideau
The Rev. Thomas R. Rabideau, O.S.B., of Shawnee died Wednesday in an Oklahoma City nursing center. He was 82.

Rabideau was born Sept. 29, 1916, in Oshkosh, Wis., to Joseph and Anna (Penzenstadler) Rabideau. After grade school in Oshkosh, he attended St. John's Seminary Prep School in Collegeville, Minn., and then attended St. Gregory's College.

He was received into the novitiate of St. Gregory's Abbey in 1936. He made his monastic profession on Aug. 22, 1937, and made his solemn monastic profession on Aug. 22, 1940.

He earned his bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from St. Benedict's College, Atchison, Kan., in 1939. He spent three years in theological studies at St. John's Seminary, Minnesota, before returning to St. Gregory's for the final year of studies. He was ordained to the priesthood on Jan. 31, 1943.

Rabideau taught biology and coached sports. He earned a master of science degree at The University of Oklahoma in 1950. During this time he served as curator of the Museum of Art Gallery.

He served as pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish in Seminole from Jan. 22, 1951, to December 1996. He also continued to teach life science and engineering graphics at St. Gregory's High School and College.

Survivors include three nephews and their wives, Daniel and Georgia Rabideau; Richard and Carol Rabideau; and Thomas and Sandra Rabideau; his monastic community of St. Gregory's Abbey; his parishioners at Seminole; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dominican Sister Mary Lourdes Rabideau; and his brother.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Church in Seminole with Archbishop Eusebius J. Beltran presiding. Mass of Christian burial will be 4 p.m. Tuesday in St. Gregory's Abbey with the Rev. Martin Lugo, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Gregory's Abbey Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Memorials may be made to St. Gregory's Abbey or St. Gregory's University.

Vera Virgie Claxton
Lone Grove resident Vera Virgie (Hawkins) Claxton died Thursday in Ardmore. She was 92.

Mrs. Claxton was born Aug. 27, 1906, at Lehi, Indian Territory to Billy and Lula (Burchfield) Hawkins. She married E.O. Claxton in 1931 in Tecumseh.

After living in the oil fields of northern Oklahoma, Mrs. Claxton moved to Brock in 1949. She had lived in Ardmore since 1982. She was a member of the Brock Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Leta J. Croskell, Shawnee; two sons and daughters-in-law, Don E. and Betty Claxton, Lafayette, La., and Gary N. and Patti Claxton, Wilson; four sisters, Betty Melot, Tecumseh, Nova Brewer, Shawnee, Almeda Foust, Denver, Colo.; and Bill Tarbox, Norman; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982; four brothers; and one sister.

Services were 10 a.m. Saturday at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel, Wilson, with the Rev. Jim Gillum officiating. Burial was in Lone Grove Cemetery.

Johnny Thomas Johnson
Lifelong Seminole resident Johnny Thomas Johnson died Friday at an Ada hospital. He was 46.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Seminole, with Dr. Kelvin Moseley and Rev. Robert Hightower officiating. Burial will be at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Johnson was born Sept. 6, 1952, in Seminole to Thomas and Francina (Factor) Johnson. He married Vickie Lankford on June 4, 1971, in Wewoka.

Johnson graduated from Seminole High School in 1970 and attended Seminole Junior College. He was a salesman for Seminole Chemical. He was a member of Harvey Road Baptist Church, where he had served as associate pastor.

Survivors include his mother, Francina Johnson, Seminole; his wife, Vickie Johnson, of the home; son, Jeremy Johnson, of the home; daughter, Tiffany Johnson, of the home; sister, JoAnn Conner; and brother-in-law, Tommy Chambers.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Johnson in 1978; his father, Thomas Johnson; and his sister, June Chambers.

Jessica Marie Bounds
Jessica Marie Bounds was stillborn Thursday in Oklahoma City.

Survivors include her mother, Regina Bounds, El Reno; grandmother, Ruth Psiester, El Reno; grandfather, Ralph Bounds, Midwest City; uncle, Ronnie Psiester, Henderson, Texas; aunts, Angela Parker and Amanda Slay, both of Del City; and godparents, Shelly and David Davidson, Bethany.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Chandler, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.

Loraetta P. Sample
Newalla resident Loraetta P. Sample died Friday at a Harrah nursing center. She was 70.

Mrs. Sample was born May 31, 1928, in Salt Springs, Okla., to Herman Wyatt and Beulah Faye (Peyton) Powders. She married Harlie Sample on March 4, 1950, in Texas.

She had lived in Freedom, Okla., until moving to Midwest City in 1951. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Harlie A. Sample, of the home in Newalla; six children, Harrietta Williams, of the home, Cherry Henson, Choctaw, Harlie Austin Sample Jr., Oklahoma City, Gail Sample, Midwest City, Krystin Prescott, Lincoln, Neb., and Jay Sample, Choctaw; her brother, Virdin Charles Powders, Wagoner; three sisters, Ova Geerdes, Purcell, Emma States, Washington, and Lurabelle Johnson, Arnett; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery, Newalla, under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah.

Ann Elizabeth Marak
Ann Elizabeth Marak, 92, Shawnee, died Wednesday in a local hospital.

She was born Feb. 16, 1907, in Gibson, N.M., to Michael and Elizabeth Sakach. She move to Gillespie, Ill., in 1917, graduating from Gillespie Community High School in 1926 and from St. John's Hospital Nursing School, St. Louis, Mo., in 1929. She was a private duty nurse at St. John's from 1929 to 1935. She married Louis B. Marak in Shawnee in 1941.

From 1949 to 1977, she worked at ACH and Shawnee Medical Center, where she was the operating room supervisor and the associate director of nursing. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Louis and Noelle Marka, Eureka, Calif.; two grandsons and a granddaughter-in-law, Jason and Jennifer Marak of New York, N.Y., and Ethan Marak of Glendale, Calif.; and sisters Dolly Rice, Oklahoma City, and Catherine Bohn, Alton, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Elizabeth Ann, in 1947; her husband in 1993; one brother; and one sister.

A prayer service and rosary will be 6 p.m. Thursday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, with the Rev. Charles Massoth, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Nora Alene (McKinley) Smoot Farley
Nora Alene (McKinley) Smoot Farley, 90, of Asher, died Thursday in an Oklahoma City nursing center.

She was born Feb. 14, 1909, in Marshall County, Ala., to Dearwood Beady and Mattie Elizabeth McKinley. She owned a cafe in Asher for many years and was a homemaker and a babysitter.

She married Earl Jay Smoot and then Hansford William Farley. She was a member of the Avoca Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hansford William Farley; one son, John Dearwood Farley; a granddaughter, Tresa Farley Williams; one sister, Jewel Madge McKinley; and eight brothers, Donald Beady McKinley, Joseph David McKinley, John William McKinley, Van Beaurn McKinley, Daniel Dewey McKinley, Hoyt Lee McKinley, Harold Vance McKinley and H.D. Gorden McKinley.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Sue Smoot, Bethany; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Ernie and Debbie (Smoot) Stucker ; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Eddie Charles and Monica Smoot of Tucson, Ariz.; four great-grandchildren, Casey John Hoover of Oklahoma City, Eddie Charles Smoot II, Phoenix, Ariz., Jeffery Michael Smoot of Phoenix, Ariz., and Rene Williams of Shawnee; sister, Jessie Samantha McKinley, Oklahoma City; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Wanette Cemetery, with Granville Clapp officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Home.

William Owen Talley
Chandler resident William Owen Talley, 92, died Tuesday, Feb. 27.

Service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church of Chandler.

Arrangements under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler.
