Dr. Johnny C. "Doc" Rolland

PARK HILL -- Memorial services for Johnny C. "Doc" Rolland, 69, will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, April 30, 2004, at the Hart Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jeff Reed of Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Asbill, W. A. Smith, James "Pappy" Miller, Jim Shirrel, Henry Ben, and James Bunch.

Johnny Rolland, "Doc" to his friends, was born one of five children to Roy Eugene and Beulah (Riggs) Rolland on Jan. 12, 1935, in Braggs, and passed peacefully from this life on April 26, 2004 in Tulsa. After he graduated from high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served during the Korean Conflict from 1953-'56. Upon being honorably discharged, he settled down to raise five children.

Doc completed his doctorate in special education and graduated from the University of Oregon. In 1969, he moved from Eugene, Ore., to the Tahlequah area. Doc then taught for Northeastern State University from 1969 until his retirement in 1997.

Doc loved life. He enjoyed a good game of horseshoes, loved to barbecue, ride his horses and spend time with his family and friends. Doc had a deep appreciation for all of God's creations, which could be seen through his unconditional love of helping others, his dedication to his professional career, his love of fun, and his pursuit to master crappie fishin'. Doc touched a lot of lives with his kind words of encouragement and giving spirit. A loving Husband, Daddy and Papaw, he will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Doc is preceded in death by both of his beloved parents.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Terry of the home; five adored children, James "Jim" Rolland of Tahlequah, Valerie and James Rowland of The Woodland, Texas, Todd and Melinda Rolland of Broken Arrow, Talara Rolland and Tarina Rolland, both of Tahlequah; three brothers, Robert Rolland and wife Freda, and Kelly and Jo Rolland, all of Muskogee, and Randy Rolland of Fort Gibson; and a sister Jackie Lewis and husband Finnis of Muskogee. The seven special grandchildren in his life are Taylor, Kelsi, Tyler, Murphy, Madison, Christina, and Zoee; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.

Daniel Sampson Willis

KAHLOTUS, Wash. -- Daniel Sampson Willis, 78, of Kahlotus, Wash., died at his home on Wednesday, April 21, 2004.

He was born Feb. 28, 1926 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was one of 12 children born to Almus and Florence Willis. At the age of four, the family moved to Leach in a covered wagon, then later moved to Proctor, where he was raised.

Dan was a farmer/ranch hand who had worked for various employers throughout the years, eventually retiring from Inland Empire Land and Cattle Company of Deary, Idaho.

Dan married Sue James on Dec. 30, 1971, in Vancouver, Wash. He was a very devoted family man who adored his children and grandchildren. He and his wife, Sue, moved to Kahlotus in 1996 from Roseburg, Ore.

In the early days, he was a rodeo rider and enjoyed training horses. In more recent years, he loved his farming, gardening, rabbits and chickens. He was a farmer at heart.

Dan is survived by his loving wife, Sue, of Kahlotus, Ore.; children, Ruby and husband, Terry Allen, Lee Willis and wife, Debbi, and Charlotte Hardin, all of Roseburg, Ore., Sheila and husband, Ron Rondeau, of Hemet, Calif., Deborah Older of Richland, Wash., Rebecca and husband, David Kanzler, of Lamont, Wash., Cindy and husband, Ken Kloxin, of Ketchekan, Alaska, Tracy Harrell, of Clarkston, Wash., and Shannon McMillan, of Pullman, Wash.; 17 granddaughters, 6 grandsons and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Dora Rogers, of Portland, Ore., Lillie and husband, Aubory Lanier, Ann Surls, Manda and husband, Mosco Gilman, Jim Willis and Jess Willis, all of Florida, Cynthia and husband, Paul Jackson, of Georgia, Ted Willis and wife, Naomi, of Oklahoma, Billy Willis, of Texas, and Delbert Willis and wife, Mary, of Missouri.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

A memorial service was held Saturday, April 24, 2004, at 12:30 p.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Connell. Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home in Pasco, Wash. is in charge of arrangements.

Edith Mae Wolfe Cantrell

HULBERT - Graveside services for Edith Mae Wolfe Cantrell, 101, original enrollee of the Dawes Commission, of Hulbert, will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2004, in the Holland Cemetery. Rev. Bill Parker will officiate. Interment has been entrusted to Green Country Funeral Home.

Edith was born July 12, 1904, in Proctor, Okla., Indian Territory the daughter of John and Inez Reese Wolfe. She departed this life on May 7, 2004, at Tahlequah, Okla. She was an original enrollee of the Dawes Commission, and had worked in the health field as a private duty nurse. Edith is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Flo Lowrey, and a sister, Lydia Weatherford.

Edith is survived by her son Dennis H. "Dick" Garison, three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives, friends, and loved ones.

Rita Starr Garcia

TAHLEQUAH -- Graveside services for Rita Starr Garcia, 44, of Tahlequah, were held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 4, 2004, at the Tahlequah City Cemetery, with Pastor David Howell of Christ Church officiating.

Pallbearers were Jon Garcia, Matthias Barcia, Chris Garcia, Miguel Garcia, Roger Ramos and Gary Highers.

Rita Starr Garcia was born to Florentino and Judy (Nunnelee) Ramos on Aug. 2, 1959, in Artesia, N.M., and passed away in Tahlequah. Rita, or Tiny, as she was known to her friends, completed life with a master's degree in psychology. She married Jon Garcia on Aug. 3, 1980. Together they raised three sons. The family returned to this area 21 years ago. When Rita wasn't busy working at Dollar General, she could be found out with her family or friends, enjoying the day shopping. At home, she loved to read a good book. But most of all, she enjoyed the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith.

Rita was preceded in death by her mother, and her grandparents, Malone and Etta Nunnelee.

She is survived by her three sons, Sgt. Chris Wayne Garcia of Fort Campbell, Ky., Miguel Angelo Garcia of Loveland, Colo., and Matthias Ward Garcia of Tahlequah; her husband, Jon Garcia of Tahlequah; two sisters, Tina Highers and husband Gary of Muskogee, and baby sis Barbara Petrauskas of California; one brother, Roger Ramos and Deborah Joseph of Muskogee; two grandchildren, Kaleb Garcia and Tyler Garcia, both of Owasso; an aunt, Sue Felton of California; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends and loved ones.

James Robert Stott

TAHLEQUAH -- Graveside services for James Robert Stott, 74, of Tahlequah, will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 19, 2004, in the Tahlequah City Cemetery, with Rev. Daniel Phillips officiating. Interment has been entrusted to Green Country Funeral Home.

James, known by his middle name of Robert, was born the son of Richard and Allie Anderson Stott on April 16, 1930, in Tahlequah. He passed from this life on May 15, 2004, at Tulsa.

Robert grew up in Tahlequah where he attended school. He enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge, he and Barbara Bailey were married in Huntsville, Ark., on Dec. 4, 1952.

Robert has been predeceased by his parents; a brother, Leo Stott; and a sister Linda Odom.

Left to cherish his memory are Barbara, his wife of 51 years; a son, Mike and his wife Dawn of Tahlequah; two granddaughters, Becky Martin and husband Brad, and Jamie Stott, all of Tahlequah; two great-grandchildren, Maddie and Seth Martin; three sisters, Kathy Hutton of Monroe, La., and Rita Faucett and Betty LaBass, both of Tulsa; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives, friends and loved ones.

Robert Lee Waddle

PARK HILL -- Graveside services for Robert Lee Waddle, 74, will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday April 27, 2004, at Park Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Garland Thomas of New Life Worship Center in Tahlequah officiating. Services are under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Robby Waddle, Billy Ingram, Wesley Garner, Steve Garner, Richard Ingram and Norman Lee Emerson.

Robert Lee Waddle was born on May 31, 1929, to Jesse A. and Evelyn (Purcell) Waddle and passed from this life on April 25, 2004, in Tahlequah.

Robert served his country in the Army and Navy during World War II in Japan and Korea. Robert loved the out-of-doors and could often be found riding his horses and and tending his ranch.

Robert was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Muskogee and served as a Shriner, the Benevolent Paternal Order of the Elk in Tahlequah and Muskogee, and the Cherokee County Cattleman's Associations.

Robert is preceded in death by both of his parents, a brother, Bill Waddle and a sister Margie Wyers, and his first wife, Jeri (Wyers) Waddle- Emerson.

Robert is survived by his four children, Rita LaJean Fitzgerald of Corpus Christie, Texas, James "Bug" Waddle and wife Gloria of Broken Arrow, Bobby J. Waddle and wife Jan of Park Hill, OK and Janet Kaye Ingram and husband Richard of Tahlequah; his ex-wife, June Chapin, four stepchildren, Gary Young, Kathy Lawrence, Michael Young, and Larry Young; four sisters, Juanita Palmieri, Pat Taft, Eloise Belcher all of Muskogee and Louise Hamon of Okmulgee; one brother, Cary Waddle of Okmulgee; seven wonderful grandchildren, Kris, Lisa, Mindy, Brittany, Bobby, Brandie and Billy; and three great grandchildren, Lacee, Gracee, and Gary Wayne; many nieces, nephews, cousins; as well as many friends and loved ones.
