Georgia Ann Stone

TAHLEQUAH -- Georgia Ann (Parnell) Stone, age 88, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and formerly of Tahlequah, died Wednesday, April 21, 2004.

A graveside service is planned for 11 a.m., Friday, April 30, 2004, at the Tahlequah City Cemetery, under the direction of the Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Tahlequah.

Georgia was born July 15, 1915, the daughter of Elba Elliot Parnell and Ethyl Mae (Briggs) Parnell. She grew up near the old Bethel School north of Hulbert.

Georgia married Albert Stone on May 21, 1938. They made their home in Tahlequah, where Georgia was an excellent seamstress and homemaker. She also was a member of Grace Baptist Church. After the new church was built, she spent countless hours hanging drapes and curtains. She also helped out by cooking and cleaning up at church functions and funerals.

Georgia had lived in Cincinnati for the past seven years at Brookwood Retirement Center, where she was known as "Georgia from Oklahoma." Her desire was always to return to Tahlequah.

Her husband, Albert, preceded her in death in November 1990.

Survivors include two sons, Kirby Stone of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Stanley Stone of Poteau; a brother, Richard Parnell of Tulsa; four granddaughters, Michelle (Stone) Bachman of Baton Rouge, La., Lynette (Stone) Roff of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kerri (Stone) Henderson of Poteau, and Kristin Stone, a student at Stillwater; and four great-grandchildren, Chandler Stone Bachman of Baton Rouge, La., Seth Aaron Henderson of Poteau, and Garrett Raymond Roff and Lottie Marie Roff of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Vernon Glenn Gibson

TAHLEQUAH -- Services for Vernon Glenn Gibson will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 15, 2004, at Reed-Culver Chapel, with Rev. Billy Parker officiating. Burial will follow at IOOF Cemetery in Hulbert, under the direction of the Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Tahlequah.

Pallbearers will include David Stanley, Larry Dotson, John Murray, Gary Dotson, Dwain Denney and Blaine Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Garry Roberts, Tye Thomas, J.D. Keys, Earl Ginn, Herbert Warren and Rufus Hendricks.

Vernon Glenn Gibson (Glenn) was born April 5, 1952, in Tahlequah, to Vernon JB and Eula Mae (Somner) Gibson, and walked through heaven's gate on May 11, 2004, in Tulsa, after reaching the age of 52 years, 1 month and 6 days. At the time of passing Glenn lived with his wife Barbara, in the Woodall area.

Glenn was a very productive citizen, contributing to the Woodall community's growth. Glenn and Barbara built, owned, and operated Gibson's Midway Conoco for approximately 17 and one-half years, as well as the Gibson's Car Wash for five years. At the time of the onset of Glenn's extreme illness, he was constructing the All American Grill Restaurant, beside the Gibson's Car Wash, which is near completion.

By trade, Glenn was a carpenter. By choice he was a maker of cabinets, furniture, and trim. There are many homes and businesses in the Tahlequah and surrounding areas with woodwork by Glenn Gibson.

Glenn had a great love for 1960s music with a collection of eight tracks, cassettes and discs. His radio dial was always tuned to the stations that played '60s music. He also enjoyed his workshop, where he and his friends rebuilt and painted older model show vehicles.

Family members, friends, customers and acquaintances will agree that Glenn was a very passive individual who gave a lot of himself but never expected anything in return.

He was very dedicated to his mother, wife, children, grandchildren and friends.

Glenn was preceded in death by his infant sister, Teresa and his father, Vernon Gibson.

Glenn is survived by his wife Barbara Gibson of the home; his mother, Eula Mae Anno of Tahlequah; his dad Jessie Anno of Hulbert; a son, Glenn Jr. and Casey of Haskell; and two daughters, Chrissy Turney of Hulbert, and Jerri Cook and husband Kelly of Fort Gibson; three sisters, Debbie Garr of Tahlequah, Tammy Williams of Lake Kiowa, Texas, and Beth Hendrix of Gulfport, Miss.; four brothers, Brian Gibson, Scott Kirk, Mitchell Anno and Jess Winsett, all of Tahlequah; six grandchildren, Paige Shepherd, Megan Cahill, Riley Beasley, Madalyn Cook, Logan Cook and Tukker Gibson.

Heaven will never welcome a more dedicated and loving husband.
