LEON BLAIR

TAHLEQUAH -- Services for Leon Blair will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at Reed-Culver Chapel with Rev. Charles Duvall and Frank Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Ross Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick Patrick, Kevin Cooper, Bill Rhoads, J.T. Taylor, Gary Stephens, Steve Jefferies, Reese Cookson and Roy Langston. Honorary pallbearers will be TPWA.

Luther "Leon" Blair was born on Dec. 23, 1943, in Bunch, to Jess and Minnie (Hammons) Blair. He departed from this life on July 18, 2004 in Tulsa at the age of 60 years, 6 months and 25 days, after a long illness.

Leon attended school at Etta and Tahlequah. He attended Etta General Baptist Church as a child and also Welling General Baptist Church and Camp Robinson. He married Shirley Swafford on Oct. 29, 1962 in Alabama. He was a power lineman for many construction companies. When his three children reached school age they returned to the Tahlequah area and made their home in the Welling/Etta Bend area. Leon was employed by Tahlequah Public Works Authority (TPWA) up to his death. He loved his work family and friends. He will be missed very much by his family and friends.

Leon was preceded in death by his mother Minnie Butler; stepfather Harvey Butler; and one half-brother, Eugene Blair.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Blair of the home; two sons, Timothy Leon Blair and wife Pam of Tahlequah and Marty Blair of Welling; one daughter, Kimberly Thompson and husband Tommy of Welling; six grandchildren; three half-brothers, Euveal Butler and wife Noveleen, Mike Butler and wife Janet of Antlers, and Eugene Blair; two half-sisters, Elise Blair, and Anna Mae Spradlin and husband Bill of Moody.

MARY JANE STAYATHOME

BARBER -- Graveside services for Mary Jane Stayathome will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at Barber Cemetery, with Rev. James Coker officiating. Pallbearers will include Paul Isham, Jim Barnoskie, Jimmy Robbins, Charles Ridge, Sam McCoy and Donald Hardbarger.

Mary Jane Stayathome was born on Sept. 12, 1935, in Barber, to Ned and Cynthia (Chunstudy) Stayathome. She departed this life on July 18, 2004, in Tulsa, at the age of 68. Mary worked at Greenleaf Nursery for 36 years.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Stayathome and wife Ann; two sisters, Anna Ruth Holmes and Clydia Dreadfulwater; one brother, John Stayathome and wife Oleta; seven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

Gene Corbell

FORT GIBSON -- Funeral services for Gene Allen Corbell will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at the First Freewill Baptist Church of Fort Gibson. Burial will be in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of Reed-Culver Funeral Home with Pastor Tommy Honeycutt officiating.

Gene Allen Corbell, 74, of Fort Gibson died Saturday July 17, 2004, at the Veterans Medical Center in Muskogee. He was born Dec. 22, 1929, in Porum, to Eldridge and Ethel (Boles) Corbell. He attended school at Porum and graduated from Muskogee. Gene married Anna Gilliam on Oct. 22, 1955, at Crescent Valley Baptist Church, Cherokee County.

Gene served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. His tour of duty included service on the U.S.S. Antietam, U.S.S. Shangri-La, U.S.S. Yorktown and theU.S.S. Princeton. He received his master's degree in education from Northeastern State University. He was a school administrator for 21 years.

Gene and Ann then moved to Fort Gibson, and he retired from teaching math at Muskgoee Hight School in 1994. Gene had many interests including bowling, reading and farming. He left behind a great legacy, his family. Gene was an exceptional family man. He demonstrated this again and again by putting his family first and everything else second. As his family, our greatest challenge will be to follow in his footsteps.

Gene was of the Baptist faith and attended the First Freewill Baptist Church in Fort Gibson.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Hoye and R.L. Corbell; and two sisters, Essie Tayar and Jewell Parsons.

In addition to his wife, Gene is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Lajuana Corbell of Fort Gibson, and Mark and Annette Corbell of Collinsville; one sister, Lois Mayfield, Muskogee; five grandchildren, Tabitha Snell of Drumright, Drew Corbell of Collinsville, Jeremiah Corbell of Sapulpa; Michelle Orcutt of Collinsville; and Jacob Corbell of Fort Gibson.

Allen "Dean" Jackson

TAHLEQUAH -- Services for Allen "Dean" Jackson, 52, of Tahlequah will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at Hart Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Terry J. Stone officiating. Interment will follow at Tahlequah City Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Taylor, Larry Scraper, Kenny Boston, Allen Legier, Brandon Trammel and Aaron Mannard. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Dell Barnes, Clebern Baker and Randy Jones.

Allen "Dean" Jackson was one of four boys born to Georgie C. and Virginia Florence (Railey) Jackson on Jan. 19, 1952, in Okmulgee, and passed from this life on July 18, 2004, in Tahlequah.

Dean was raised in Okmulgee where he graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1970, before moving to Tahlequah. After moving to Tahlequah Dean met and later married Pamela Ann Carr on July 26, 1975, at the First Assembly of God. Dean and Pamela made their home in Tahlequah, where they have raised their three children, David, Kevin and Amanda.

Dean was currently employed as a liaison engineer for Flight Safety in Broken Arrow. Dean served as a deacon for more than 10 years at Calvary Assembly of God and, most recently, had attended First Assembly of God. He often donated blood and plasma, which had become very important to him. His family and friends will dearly miss Dean.

One brother precedes him in death.

Dean is survived by his parents; his loving wife of 28 years, Pamela of the home; his three children, David Allen Jackson and wife Holly Starr of Tulsa, Kevin Wayne Jackson of Tahlequah, and Amanda Nicole Jackson of the home; two brothers, Jerry Wayne Jackson of Okmulgee, and Paul C. Jackson and wife Sherry of Okmulgee; and several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of friends and loved ones.

Nancy Mouse

TAHLEQUAH -- Services for Nancy Mouse will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at Johnson Prairie Church. Burial will follow at Agent Cemeter. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jon Rany, Kevin, Kris, Mikky, Richard, Derek and Bryan.

Nancy Mouse was born May 28, 1930, in Moodys, to John and Sallie (Agent) Walker. She passed from this life on July 18, 2004 in Tahlequah, at the age of 74.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Mouse; her mother, Sally Turner; her father, John Walker; and three sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include her 11 children: Four daughters, Cora Vann, Dora Vance and husband Ernest, Lucy Overacker and husband Greg, and Nora Weaver and husband David; seven sons, Robert and wife Gladys, David, Jackie, Jody, Michael, Marvin and wife Tawanna, and Clifford; and two brothers, Leroy Turner and Johnny Pritchett.

Birdie H. Hendricks

VALLEJO, Calif. - Graveside services for Birdie H. Hendricks, 94, of Vallejo, Calif., are 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 21 at Skyview Memorial Lawn in Vallejo.

Birdie was born Sept. 21, 1909 in Tahlequah, and died July 14 in Vallejo, her home of 61 years.

Birdie worked an optical shop at Benicia Arsenal for 15 years before retiring. She was a member of the First Church of God in Vallejo and was an avid gardener.

She was preceded in death by nine brothers, two sisters, and two sons.

Birdie is survived by two daughters, Reba Chiarmonte, of Madera, Calif., and Charlotte Pepe, of New York; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
