Jerald Preston Hill

TAHLEQUAH - Graveside services for Jerald Preston hill, age 70, will be held Monday, July 19, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Tahlequah City Cemetery with Rev. Arliss Moon and Rev. James Dill officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Eisemann, Mark Orvis, Deanney Hill, Harold Hill, Thomas Walker and Leslie Howe.

Jerald Preston Hill was born on June 13, 1934 in Holdenville, Okla., one of eight children to Walter Fay and Ida Lillian (Adair) Hill. He attended school in Holdenville and upon completing school, he married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Tyler, in Sand Springs, Okla., on April 6, 1957. Jerald worked as a security guard with Pinkerton's in Tulsa until his retirement. In 2000, he and his wife moved to the Tahlequah area. Jerald loved to go fishing and create his own fishing flies. he loved camping and hunting. Jerald could occasionally be found looking for buried treasure with his metal detector. But most of all, he enjoyed the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Tahlequah.

Jerald is preceded in death by his Dad in 1952; his Mom in 1975; two brothers, David and Kenneth Hill; one sister, Jean Toulbert; and one great-grandson, Cody Daniel in 1996.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Mary E. Hill, of Tahlequah; three children, Jerry and Jennifer Hill, of Tahlequah, Patty and Wany Eisemann and Debra and Mark Orvis, all of Tulsa; his brothers and sister, Deanney and Helen Hill, of Norman, Harold and Jewel Hill, of Moore, Jimmy Hill, and Betty Hill of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Angel and Kevin Luby, of Washington, D.C., Heather and Matthew Murphy, stationed in Korea, Luke Eisemann, and Donovan and wife Jennifer, of Tulsa; five great-grandchildren, Ethan and Aiden Luby, of Washington, Christen Orvis, of Tulsa, and Ruthie and April Isborn, of Tahlequah; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends and loved ones.

Floyd 'Dale' Combs

TAHLEQUAH - Floyd "Dale" Combs was born on May 3, 1942 in Tahlequah to Robert and Lillie (Ford) Combs. He passed from this life on Thursday, July 22, 2004 at his home in Tahlequah at the age of 62 years. Dale grew up on the Illinois River in the Combs Community, which was founded by his grandfather. He attended Tahlequah Public Schools, graduating in 1959 at the age of 16. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 17, becoming a teletype operator in the Radio Research Command Unit during the Vietnam War. He received the following declarations: Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Sharpshooter, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 60, Good Conduct Medal and Meritorious Unit Citation.

Dale left the Army with an honorable discharge in November 1967. After his military service, he attended Northeastern State University to continue his education. Dale was an avid admirer of the fine arts, having a huge collection of educational books, cook books, novels, movies and music. He attended the Tulsa Performing Arts and was a familiar face at local libraries and book stores. Dale also spent time in Oregon and Tulsa before returning to Tahlequah. Since that time, he had been a devoted caregiver to his mother. Dale often took his mother and Aunt Eunice Johnson on drives along the river where he grew up and around Northwest Arkansas where his ancestors lived. Dale was often seen with his mother and aunt at Wal-Mart on Saturday outings or out for Sunday lunch. Dale was employed at the Wal-Mart Store in Tahlequah for 25 years. He was an avid sports fan, never missing a THS, NSU or Tulsa Hurricane football or basketball game. When Dale's grandchildren Jeremy, Kyle, Brett and Devyn began their sports careers, Dale was on the top row for a bird's eye view at Keys and Fort Gibson football and basketball games, with his best friend Don Hawkins. Dale has many friends and family from all around the world who will miss him and never forget him.

Dale was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Lynn Combs of Germany.

Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Hansen and husband Don of Fort Gibson, Hetty Combs and Bennie Breedenbach of Buitenpost, Netherlands; a son, Dower Combs and his wife Sherri of Cookson; his mother Lillie Combs of the home; two sisters, Pearl Anderson and husband Don of Tyler, Texas, Ardith Black and husband Joe of Dallas, Texas; a brother, Jim Combs and his wife Myrna of Laughlin, Nev.; his grandchildren, Jeremy and Kyle Combs, Devyn Moran, Brett Hansen, Hessel and Dirk Hartmens and Esther Breedenbach; his special friend, Jetty Kuiper of Groningen, Netherlands; his best friend, Don Hawkins of Tahlequah, and many more friends and loved ones.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2004 at Keys First Southern Baptist Church with Dr. Andy Bowman officiating. Burial will follow at Tahlequah City Cemetery under direction of Reed-Culver Funeral Home. Pallbearers will include, Brett Hansen, Randall Johnson, Jerry Gibson, Bobby Wallace, Tommy Webb and James Leslie (Jimmy) Combs, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be the Wal-Mart Associates of Tahlequah.

Rachel Lynn Mason

SEMINOLE - Services for Rachel Lynn Mason, 21, Seminole, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, at Swearingen Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Gus Shi officiating, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Chester Phillips, Dusty Darr, Andrew Shi and Jesse Andrews.

Rachel, a longtime Seminole resident, was born Feb. 23, 1983 in Shawnee, Okla., to Earl Lynn and Twila (Smith) Mason, and died Thursday, July 22, 2004.

Rachel graduated from Seminole High School in May of 2001 and attended college at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. She was also a student at Seminole State State College. She was very active in Seminole High School's debate program and was currently working with them while attending school at Seminole State College.

Rachel is preceded in death by her father, Earl; grandmother, Sue (Billie) Smith; and grandfather, Rev. John V. Smith.

She is survived by her mother, Twila of the home; one uncle, John Smith of Austin, Texas; an aunt, Kim Rodgers of Stillwater; cousins, Hannah and JT Rodgers of Stillwater; and a host of friends.

Blynn Ivan 'Sonny' Spears

TAHLEQUAH - Blynn Ivan "Sonny" Spears was born on Nov. 28, 1929 to Daniel Eli (D.E.) and Theta Lethal (Kile) Spears. He went to meet Jesus on Friday, July 23, 2004 in Tahlequah at the age of 74. Blynn graduated from Tahlequah High School in 1947 and attended Northeastern State College. He retired from the U. S. Postal Service as a Rural Route (Pony Express) Carrier in 1985 after 33 years of loyal service, of which he took one day of sick leave. Blynn owned and operated 2-S Saddle Shop for 25 years. He was a member of the Central Church of Christ. He enjoyed his life as a husband, father, sportsman and horseman. He was president of the Tahlequah Round-Up Club, a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, the American Paint Horse Association and the International Order of Odd Fellows. He was also a mentor for many 4-H members where he coached the Drill Team for many years.

Blynn is survived by his wife Margie Violet (Wilkey) Spears of 56 happy years. Also surviving Blynn are his children, James Edward Spears and wife Jackie of Tahlequah, John Alan Spears of Oakland, Calif., Patti Ayala and husband Jesse of Tahlequah; two grandchildren, Leah Rachelle Spears, of Fayetteville, Ark., and Craig Patrick Spears of Tahlequah; five step-grandchildren, Malinda Kaiser and husband Albert of Round Rock, Texas, Monica Soffera and husband Troy of Killeen, Texas, Melissa Robichaud of Austin, Texas, Breque Parnell of Fort Gibson, and Kaleb Parnell of Tahlequah; two great-grandchildren, Abrielle Kaiser of Round Rock, Texas, and Legan Robichaud of Austin, Texas; his brothers, Jack Spears of Tahlequah, Zach Spears of Okemah; a sister, Norma (Spears) Reeves of Austin, Texas; two very special "daughters", Tanya Moody of Copan, Sarah Brown of Pocatello, Idaho; and a special "grandson" Cory Brown of Pocatello, Idaho, and a host of nieces, nephews, many friends and loved ones.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2004 at Reed-Culver Chapel with Dan Melhus officiating. Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Hulbert, Okla. under the direction of Reed-Culver Funeral Home. Pallbearers will include Kenny Adams, Mike Chastain, Tom Hix, David Spears, Kerry Spears and Ed Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will include Red Fuller, Jim Loftin, Rusty Carroll, Leo Stinnett, Bryan Hix, Mark Hix, G.V. Gulager, Randy Coles, Tom Speake, Hack Neff, Raymond Morrison and Randy Jones.

Terry Davis

FORT SMITH, Ark. -- Terrell (Terry) Jean Davis, 61, of Van Buren, Ark., died July 26, 2004, peacefully in her sleep of a heart attack, at her home. She was born on Sept. 20, 1942, in Fort Smith, Ark.

Terry was CEO of Davis and Associates Annuity Group of Van Buren, Ark., and partner of Eugene Fabry with Fabry-Davis and Associates of Cookson. She was a 1960 graduate of Fort Smith High School and a 1963 graduate of Sparks School of Nursing, a registered nurse, and a registered representative of The Annuity Group/Long Term Care Consultants. She was a former board member of Lincoln Childcare Center, a former member of Women's League of Van Buren, and former president of Fort Smith Art Center.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at First Lutheran Church of Fort Smith, Ark., 412 North 12th St. A reception for visitation with the family will be held following the service in the church fellowship hall. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Ark.

Terry was preceded in death by her parents, Glynn Terrell Davis and Evlyn Sivley Davis of Fort Smith.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Kay Kunkel Pierson and husband Grant Cole Pierson of Van Buren, Ark.; a son Joseph Glynn Kunkel of Olympia Fields, Ill.; and grandchildren, Joseph Bailey Pierson and Laura Jean Pierson, of Van Buren, Ark.

She loved her children and grandchildren and friends. She enjoyed time at Lake Tenkiller, traveling, gardening, boating, shopping for antiques and the arts.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church of Fort Smith, Ark.

Juanita "Nito" Folsum

TAHLEQUAH -- Services for Juanita "Nito" Folsom were held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 30, 2004, at Reed-Culver Chapel, with Rev. Patrick Freeman and Rev. Grover James officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of Reed-Culver Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will include Buck Hamilton, Beaver Hamilton, Awkie Hamilton, Bruno Oldbear, Andre Guoladdle and Mike Johnson. Honorary pallbearers include Benny Tiger, Frank Tiger, Jerry Wayne Tiger, Ben Tiger Jr., Olan Durant Jr., Richard Folsum, John Hamilton, Jarrod Proctor, Lewis Proctor and Mike Factor.

Juanita "Nito" Folsum was born May 12, 1950, in Pawnee, to John W. and Caroline (Hood) Folsum. She passed from this life Tuesday, July 27, 2004, in Tahlequah. Nito worked as a licensed practical nurse for 22 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcom "Bobby" Folsum; a daughter, Angela Marie Folsum; and a brother, Riley "Beans" Tiger.

Survivors include three daughters, Paula Folsum, Bobbie "Bo" Folsum and Thresa Folsum; one son, John Tiger; three sisters, Johnnie Mae Gokey, Nancy Rae Tiger and Becky Marie Rivas; three brothers, Benny Tiger, Frank Tiger and Jerry Wayne Tiger; and nine grandchildren, Bethany Tiger, Amy Tiger, Anthony David Tiger, Courtney Kirk, William Kirk, Helen Gayle Folsum-Soap, Stacy Louise Folsum-Soap, Joshua Brent Folsum-Soap and Carey Ann Folsum-Soap.
