John Dee Mouse

KANSAS - John Dee Mouse passed from this life Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004 in Kansas, Okla. at the age of 74 years. He was born Aug. 27, 1929 in Delaware County, Okla. to Sequoyah and Annie (Russell) Mouse. John married Rosie Mae Fields on Sept. 26, 1951.

John is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 53 years, Rosie Mouse; four sons, Stephen Floyd "Archie" Mouse of Colcord, John Edward Mouse of Oaks, Victor Mouse of Kansas, Okla. and Cletus Mouse of Kansas, Okla.; three daughters, Bertha Whaler of Tahlequah, Cleta Gay Huntley of Park Hill and Rebecca June Yahola of Lebannon, Tenn.; two sisters, Elizabeth Hyet of Edison, Mo. and Georgia Barker of Grandby, Mo.,; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, Sequoyah and Annie Mouse; a daughter, Roberta Leigh Soap; a sister, Barbara Fry; and a brother, Dean Mouse.

A wake service will be 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004 at Reed-Culver Chapel. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2004 at Long Prairie Indian Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Fixin officiating. Interment will follow at Long Prairie Cemetery under direction of Reed-Culver Funeral Home. Pallbearers include, Joey Fields, Elmer Panther, Jr., Matthew Fields, Harold Osage, Willie Fencer and Anthony Cochran. Honorary pallbearers include Kevin Davis and Scott Davis.

Kirby Malinda McLain

TAHLEQUAH -- Memorial services for Kirby Malinda McLain, age 44, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday Aug. 6, 2004, at Hart Funeral Home Chapel.

Kirby Malinda McLain was born to Roy Gene Perry and Karen Jo (Delong) Burnett on July 17, 1960, in Muskogee, and passed from this life on Aug. 3, 2004, in Muskogee.

Kirby graduated from school and attended classes for clerical work. Kirby loved people. She was an excellent seamstress and did beautiful needlework. She loved to go to garage sales and search for a bargain. On July 18, 1987, Kirby married Danny McLain in Tahlequah. When she wasn't working at Wal-Mart, Kirby loved the time she spent with her family. Her family was everything to her. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and loved ones.

Kirby is preceded in death by her Uncle, Barney DeLong.

Kirby is survived by her husband, Danny, of the home; her mother, Karen Burnett of Bartlesville; two daughters, Stephanie Machell and husband Antoni Jason Lino of Muskogee, and Amanda McLain of Bentonville, Ark.; grandmother, Josephine Frisbee of Tahlequah; one sister, Christie Jean Swaim of Bartlesville; three brothers, Donald Ray and wife Twila Perry of El Paso, Texas, Roy Dale Jenkins of Tahlequah, and Thomas Loyd Swaim of Bartlesville; two granddaughters, Ericka May Lino of Muskogee, and Haley Jade McLain of Bentonville, Ark.; Uncle Duanne Bascom of Tahlequah; and Aunt Mary Catherine Frisbee of Tahlequah; as well as a host of friends and loved ones.

Gwen Augusta Gore McHone

TAHLEQUAH -- Services for Gwen Augusta Gore McHone will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at Reed-Culver Chapel with Terry Rush officiating. Interment will be private at New Home Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction by Reed-Culver Funeral Home.

Gwen Augusta Gore McHone was born Aug. 10, 1906, in Peggs, Indian Territory. She died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, in Tahlequah.

Gwen was the daughter of Isaac Reese and Julia Etta Elizabeth (Graves) Gore. She married Rufus Dinsmore McHone on Aug. 29, 1925, in Tahlequah.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Rufus McHone, who died July 16, 1991.

Gwen grew up and attended school in Peggs, Oklahoma. Gwen and Rufus lived in the New Home community near Peggs most of their married life until they moved to Tahlequah around 1975.

She was a member of the Home Extension Club Extension Club in Peggs for many years. She loved to crochet and to grow beautiful flowers. She was a member of the Church of Christ and attended church in Hulbert, Locust Grove and Tahlequah.

She is survived by three nephews, Donald McHone, Joe Gore and Wendell Welch; three nieces, Donna Musgrave, Barbara Breedlove and Louise Terrill; a grandnephew, Monte Musgrave; and a grandniece, Lynn Berglund.

In addition to her husband, Gwen was preceded in death by three sisters, Myrtle Musgrave and husband Homer, Willie McHone and husband J.R., and Juanita Weidner and husband Ted; a brother, Ray Gore and wife Bertha; and two nephews, Boyd Musgrave and Dennison Welch.

Janice Nora Vineyard

TAHLEQUAH -- Services for Janice Nora Vineyard, 67, of Cookson, will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at the Grace Baptist Church of Tahlequah, with Rev. Jim Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Cookson-Proctor Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home. A reception will be held at the Carter Baptist Church following services.

Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Morrison, Rodney Morrison, Michael Morrison, Jimmy Utley, Anthony Margarit and George Guthrie. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Randy Shine.

Janice Nora (Evans) Vineyard was born on Aug. 25, 1936, to Edward Christopher and Ora Corretta (Bodine) Evans and passed away on Feb. 28, 2004, in Tahlequah. Janice married Bill Scott and lived in Bakersfield, Calif., where they operated a painting business. Janice kept books for her husband until 1986 when he passed away. She later met Ray Vineyard in Barstow, Calif., and they married in August of 1998 in Memphis, Tenn. After Ray retired in 1998 he and Janice moved to Cookson. Janice attended Grace Baptist Church of Tahlequah.

Her parents; her first husband, Bill Scott; and her brothers, Sonny and Ronnie Evans, precede Janice in death.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Vineyard; one brother, Dennis Ross Evans of New Mexico; three sisters, Neoma Ethel Houston of Cookson, Hope Lorrraine Morrison of Cookson, and Patricia Ann Sharrum of Idaho Falls, Idaho; many nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends and loved ones.

Janice lived a full, simple and happy life. Her love of Jesus Christ is what inspired her daily. Although Janice had no children, she loved her nieces and nephews as her own. Her family was the most important part of her life. Janice will be missed by many.

Francis Joseph Smith

LITTLETON, Colo. - Services for Francis Joseph Smith, 80, of Cookson, were held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26 at the Drinkwine Funeral Home Chapel in Littleton, Colo., with interment following at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.

Smith was born to James Joseph and Minnie Montgomery Smith on Jan. 10, 1924 in Waverly, Kansas and died Feb. 21, 2004 in Vian, Okla. Smith was a retired inspector for Factual Insurance Company.

Smith was preceded in death by his first wife, Alamita Smith, his parents, and several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Caroline, of Cookson; a son, Paul Joseph Smith, of Florida; a step-daughter, Marie M. Johnson, of Cookson; and two sisters, Lois Peterson, of Dike, Iowa, and Marion Tingle, of Arvado, Colo.

William Edward "Will" Adair

TAHLEQUAH -- Services for William Edward "Will" Adair, 80, will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 4, 2004, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Douglas Thompson of Combs General Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Moodys Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mike Powers, Bill Hamilton, Tracy Thompson, Bartow Hix, Chuck Hix and Wyman Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Steve Younger, Odis Osburn and Bill Copeland.

Will Adair was born Oct. 8, 1923, the son of Edward Theodore and Alpha (Davis) Adair in Moodys, and passed from this life on March 1, 2004, at his home. Upon graduating from high school, William began his studies at Northeastern State University. It was at this time he was employed by Pan-American Airlines as an engineer, and remained there for the next 26 years.

Will was a man of many talents. He was an outdoorsman who loved the woods and fine rifles. He raised beautiful vegetable gardens and was very adept in the kitchen. He was a proud member of the National Rifle Association, as well as the Republican National Committee. But that which made him happiest was the time he spent with his wife, family, cousins and close friends. He was a member of the Combs General Baptist Church, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Will is preceded in death by both beloved parents.

Will leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 15 years, Jewell (Collins) Wilcox-Adair; one son, William Adair II of Ecuador; one stepdaughter, Elizabeth Hamilton and husband Steve of Tahlequah; one stepson, Dale Wilcox and wife Cathy of Tahlequah; two grandsons in Ecuador; seven step-grandchildren, Cory Johnson and Ephraim Hamilton both of Tahlequah, Gary Wilcox and family of Fort Gibson; David and Beth Wilcox of Gilmer, Texas, Sara Wilcox and Hannah Hamilton of Tahlequah, and Andrea Wilcox-Coltran of Oklahoma City; as well as many family members and loved ones.
