Leola Sauls (Sister Girl)

Age 82, Lawton, Services will be 1:30 PM Monday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with her grandson, Timothy Newton, Lawton, officiating.

Mrs. Sauls died on Thursday, August 18, 2004 at a local retirement center.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Family will greet friends on Saturday evening from 6-8 pm at Becker Funeral Home.

She was born on March 20, 1922 in Idabel to Ison and Senta Brown. She married Morris Sauls in Wichita Falls, Texas on July 8, 1966. Leola was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Survivors include her 10 children, Lola Mae Bailey of Dallas, TX; Bobby Jean Hill of Midwest City; Hebert Lee Minnow of San Francisco, CA; Wynona Allen and her husband, Hathaway, of Lawton; Rodney E. Connors and his wife, Gina, of Warner Robbins, GA; Denice Dorsey and her husband, Frank, of Baton Rouge, LA; Frank Newton, Jr. of Oklahoma City; Christina Leak and her husband, Kevin, of Hamburg, Germany; Leola Washington and her husband, Keith, of Dallas, TX; and Hermena Hampton and her husband, Ezra, of Hephzibah, GA; 33 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.

Her parents, husband, two sons, Thomas A. Connors and Rudolph E. Newton; a sister, Gertrude Brown; a brother, Leon Brown; and a granddaughter Patricia Riddle Sanders, preceded her in death.

Sakaki K. Whitney

Age 76, Lawton, Service will be 1:30 PM Friday at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Dean Long, SGI USA Lawton District Chief, officiating.

Mrs. Whitney died Monday, October 4, 2004 at her residence.

Burial will be in the Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

She was born on November 20, 1927 in Setamai Machi, Japan to Daizaburo and Saki Konni. She was formerly married to Robert Lee Short. She married MSG (Retired) John W. Whitney in Wichita Falls, Texas on March 27, 1978. He died on August 6, 1998. In 1970, she started working at the Fort Sill Officer's Club and retired in 1991. She was a member of Sok Gakkai International USA.

Survivors include two sons, Audie Short of Lawton and David Short and his wife, Dawn, of Hillsdale, Indiana; a daughter, Barbara Akers of Hillsdale, Indiana; and four grandchildren, Scott and Lacey Short, and Levi and Tanner Akers.

Her parents preceded her in death.

CW2 (Retired) W.L. “Bill” Suits

Age 74, Lawton, Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Friday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Deacon Herman R. Lawrence, Holy Family Catholic Church, Lawton, officiating.

Mr. Suits died Tuesday in Lawton.

Burial with full military honors will be in the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin.

He was born May 7, 1930 on Staten Island, New York. He married Marie Anne P. Gervais of St. Leonard, New Brunswick, Canada on September 4, 1954 at Loring Air Force Base, Maine. He served with the Air Force and the Army, and retired in 1971 after a total of 21 years of service. He served in Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from the Army, Mr. Suits received a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Oklahoma in 1975. He worked 11 years as a counselor and Drug and Alcohol Program Supervisor with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. He was also retired from United Services Life Insurance Company. Lastly he had been working as a certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor with the Oklahoma DUI/DWI Program. He was an active member and lector at St. John of God Parish, Fort Sill.

Survivors Include: his wife Marie of Lawton, Sister: Betty Tibbs of Santa Maria, CA, Son: Curt Suits of Dallas, TX, Daughter: Leslie Suits of El Paso, TX, and Granddaughter: Zoey Charlson of El Paso, TX.

Ila Mae Collins

Age 87, North Richland Hills, Texas, Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Friday at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Jerry Cotton officiating.

Mrs. Collins died Wednesday in a North Richland Hills care center.

Burial will be in Post Cemetery, Fort Sill.

She was born November 15, 1917 in Wetumka. She married J. L. Collins on November 2, 1942 in Eufaula. He died June 13, 1986. Mrs. Collins was a member of Richland Hills Church of Christ in North Richland Hills, Texas.

Survivors include two daughters; Rhonda Cotton, North Richland Hills, Texas, and Pamela Ousley, Edmond, a son; Larry Collins, North Richland Hills, Texas, a granddaughter; Deborah Schmidt,, Southlake, Texas, three grandsons; David Cotton, Southlake, Texas, Allan Ousley, Hugo, and Danny Ousley, Edmond, and seven great grandchildren; Wes Cotton, Forrest Schmidt, and Ashley, Colby, Emily, Andrew, and Michael Ousley.

Adolph R. “Dob” Romo

Age 92, Lawton - Services will be 10:00 AM Thursday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ralph Davis, Retired Minister, Cyril, officiating.

Mr. Romo died Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at a local hospital.

Burial will be in the Pioneer Cemetery, Southwest of Chickasha.

He was born on August 14, 1912 in Brownwood, Texas to Jacob and Virginia (Gonzalez) Romo. He came to Oklahoma from Texas with his family on covered wagon to pick cotton. He married Syble Irene McDonald in Chickasha on November 27, 1933. Mr. Romo played the steel guitar for many of the local bands in the Lawton area.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Anita Darlene Romo, of the home; and Janis F. Richardson and her husband, Edward N., of Shawnee; two grandchildren, Ashley and Whitney Richardson, both of Shawnee; and two sisters, Vera Ward of Phoenix, Arizona, and Annie Garcia of Wolf City, Texas.

His son, Billy Raymond Romo, and ten brothers and sisters, preceded him in death.

Rosabel A. Williams

Age 86, Lawton.

Mrs. Williams died Tuesday in a local hospital.

She was born on September 4, 1919 in White River Junction, Vermont to Horace H. and Edith A. (Kent ) Punt. She grew up and graduated High School in White River Junction, Vermont. She later attended Nursing School in Boston. She married Bishop H. Williams on January 2, 1945 in Fort Meyers, Florida. He passed away February 19. 1994. She retired in 1986 and they moved to Lawton.

Survivors include three sisters: Marian Gault, Evelyn Donley and Elizabeth Kieper all from White River Junction, Vermont and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Three Sisters: Myrtle Horton, Alice Horton and Bernice Pratte and a Sister –in-law Mrs. Horace Punt preceded her in death.

MSG (Retired) Elbert Wayne Price

Age 61, Lawton - Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Lawton Heights United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles King, Pastor, officiating.

Sergeant Price died Friday in Norman, Oklahoma.

Inurnment with full military honors will be in the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.

He was born August 8, 1944 in Toledo, Illinois, to Cleo Virgil and Dorothy Lake Price. He was a 1962 graduate of Cumberland High School in Toledo and in 1989 received his BA from Cameron University. He was married to Lyn M. Dye on January 23, 1999 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a member of the Lawton Heights United Methodist Church.

He was retired from the U.S. Army on August 31, 1983 at Fort Sill. He was a veteran of Vietnam and his awards include the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four service stars, Bronze Star Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star Medal with V Device, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm, Good Conduct Medal sixth award, two Overseas Service Bars, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon -4, NCO Professional Development Ribbon-3, Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14) and Expert Rifle (M-16). Following his retirement from the Army he worked for Civil Service at Fort Sill with EEOC.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; a son and daughter in law, Christian & Sheryl Price, Edmond, Oklahoma; a daughter and son in law, Christina and Robert Bausch, Lawton; a step son and step daughter in law, Joe and Shiloh Coppersmith, Michigan; six grandchildren, Xavier Price, Catherine, Stephen and Robbie Bausch and Gabrielle and Savannah Coppersmith; two sisters, Carol Ahlfield and Donna Ahlfield; a brother, Virgil Price; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawton Heights United Methodist Church, 1514 NW Andrews, Lawton OK 73507.

Eugene F. (Gene) Inklebarger

Age 79, Lawton - Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Fletcher Christian Church, Fletcher, with Jim Hall, minister, officiating.

Mr. Inklebarger died Monday in Lawton.

Burial with military honors will be in the Fletcher Cemetery under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home of Fletcher (formerly Robbins Funeral Home).

He was born October 19, 1926 in Apache, Oklahoma, to William Marion and Misper Frankie Wyatt Inklebarger. He grew up and graduated high school in Apache. He married Patsy Ann Sessums on June 22, 1950 at Verden, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on August 20, 1999. He later married Bernice Allen on March 10, 2001 in Lawton.

Mr. Inklebarger enlisted in the Army and was a veteran of World War II and was discharged on November 28, 1946. Following his discharge he returned to Oklahoma and farmed with his brother until he began work in the oil fields on oil rigs, an event which began a lifelong career in the oil and gas industry. His career first took him to Casper, Wyoming, in 1953 where he worked for Mobil and True Oil Companies. His career later took him overseas to Libya, to Southeast Asia, where he helped construct the first offshore gas processing plant in the Java Sea, and later to the Middle East. He worked many places stateside and was employed by TransOk Oil Company upon retirement. Following his retirement he worked as an oil and gas process consultant.

He was a member of the Fletcher Christian Church and a 32nd Degree Mason.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; four daughters and two sons in law, Deborah Ann Hoyt, Grapevine, Texas, Billy Sue Halvorson, Oklahoma City, Pamela Kay and Steve Shiflett, Fletcher, and Terrie Jane and Ray Rowe, Oklahoma City; five stepchildren, Margaret Allen, Richard Allen, Sherry Bentley and Garry Allen, all of Lawton, and Sally Cregg, Trophy Club, Texas; four grandchildren, Mark Lee Halvorson, Joshua Heath Shiflett, Lauren Michelle Hoyt and Meagan Renea Shiflett; 14 step grandchildren, Scott Powell, Chance Allen, Shelby Allen, Todd Murphy, Christy Goodin, Shay Murphy, Kiley Cook, J.D. Cregg, Cory Allen, Kinsey Allen, Steve Rice, Brad Rice, Lori Griffith and Ginger Gardner; two great grandchildren, Nicole and Morgan Halvorson; 17 step great grandchildren, Makayla and Kacie Powell, Madison and Peyton Goodin, Trae Allen, Troy Allen Murphy, Hanna Murphy, Macy Murphy, Jackson Cook, Jayle Rice, Desiree', Zachary, Dane and Drew Griffith, Ashley, Hailey and Preston Gardner; one step great great granddaughter, Alexis Denaye Gardner; two cousins, Wanda (Inklebarger) Carter, Lawton and Connie (Minor) Haskins, Spokane, WA.

One brother, Harold Ralph Inklebarger, and one sister, Thelma Lorene Inklebarger, preceded him in death.
