HASSIE GOETZINGER

BEAVER, Okla. -- Hassie Belle Goetzinger, 91, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at the Beaver County Memorial Hospital in Beaver.

She was born May 28, 1908, to James Isaac and Maggie Jane (Smith) Masoner in Greer County, Okla.

She married Willis Goetzinger June 4, 1931, in Mangum, Okla. He died April 14, 1963.

She graduated from high school and went to three years of college for her teaching certifications. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ and a past member of several local clubs in the Beaver area.

Survivors include two sons, James Goetzinger, Annandale, Va., and Robert Goetzinger and wife, Virginia, Beaver; two sisters, Cleo Feaster, Norman, Okla., and Josephine DeBoard, Andrews, Texas; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ in Beaver with the Rev. David Glascock presiding. Burial will follow at the Pioneer Cemetery in Beaver.

Services are under the direction of Clark Funeral Service in Beaver.

LEILA JANE VANDEBURGH

BEAVER, Okla. -- Leila Jane VanDeburgh, 62, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at the Beaver County Nursing Home in Beaver.

She was born July 6, 1937, to Fred and Della (Gregory) Reiswig.

She married Scott VanDeburgh Sept. 20, 1955, in Beaver. He survives.

She graduated from Beaver High School in Beaver. She was a member of the Beaver First Christian Church since 1949 and a member of the music club.

Other survivors include three sons, Steve VanDeburgh, Balko, Okla., Craig VanDeburgh, Medford, Okla., and Doug VanDeburgh, Jacksonville, N.C.; one daughter, Tami Hernandez, San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, Gary Reiswig, East Hampton, N.Y., and David Reiswig, Evansville, Ind.; six grandchildren and a host of other relatives.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Beaver First Christian Church in Beaver with Roger Neff and Chuck Lightfoot presiding. Burial will follow at the Pioneer Cemetery in Beaver.

Services are under the direction of Clark Funeral Service in Beaver.

LEON BLUM MORRIS

BEAVER, Okla. -- Leon Blum Morris, 79, Beaver, Okla., died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at Beaver County Nursing Home.

He was born Feb. 11, 1920, to John and Effie (Blum) Morris in Ochiltree County, Texas.

He married Winifred Gordon Aug. 4, 1938, at Arnett, Okla. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary last August. They lived all of their married life in Beaver County, although from 1969 to 1991, they spent winters in Zapata, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, "Winnie", of the home; one daughter, Judith Depew and husband, Donald, Beaver; one son, Jack Morris and wife, Mary Ann, Balko, Okla.; six grandchildren, Daren Depew, Stacey Tanner, Dane Morris, Brooke Taylor, Tyler Morris and Ashley Morris; two great-grandchildren, Randa and Carson Depew; and a sister, Juanita Sharp and her husband, Clifton, Boise City, Okla.; and a sister-in-law, Marjor Morris, Perryton, Texas.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Beaver First Christian Church.

Burial will be at Blue Mound Cemetery under the direction of Clark Funeral Service, Beaver.

JUNE GRANT

GROVE, Okla. -- June Grant, 61, Grove, Okla., died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at Grove General Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was born March 20, 1938, to Foy and Christine Clay in Shamrock, Texas.

She married Robert Grant in 1982 in Liberal. He survives.

She owned and operated Prairie Spot Grocery in Turpin, Okla., for many years. She was a trained medical aide.

She owned and operated Just For Fun Amusement Park in Grove.

She was a member of Cornerstone Church, where she belonged to the Silver Saints.

Survivors include two daughters, Tommie Harms and husband, Dan, Liberal, and Tonya Fowler and husband, Terry, Grove; four sons, Wesley Grant and wife, Jeanette, Liberal, Bert Gragg, Cushing, Okla., Brad Gragg, Bakersfield, Calif., and Chris Grant and wife, Lisa, of Grain Valley, Mo.; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cornerstone Church, Grove, with the Rev. and Mrs. Bill Lay officiating.

Friends may pay respects from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ellis Family Funeral Home, 107 N. Broadway, Grove.

Memorials are suggested to Cornerstone Church.

ZETA BRENNON

BEAVER, Okla. -- Zeta Brennon, 69, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at the Beaver County Nursing Home in Beaver, Okla.

She was born Sept. 27, 1930, to McKinley and Cordelia (Young) Freeman in Dewey County, Okla.

She attended the Church of God and was a homemaker.

She married Michael Brennon Aug. 12, 1966, in Beaver. He survives.

Other survivors include a son, Charles Peterman, Houston,Texas; three daughters, Brenda

Holcomb, Bella Vista, Ark., Tamara Bensch, Manhattan, and Melody Clark, Beaver; two brothers, Joe Freeman, Gage, Okla., and Cecil Freeman, Woodward, Okla.; six sisters, Daisy Gregory, Beaver, Alice Hull, Forgan, Okla., Lois Hoskinson and Rosemary Rock, both of Woodward, Carol Dunavant, Amarillo, Texas, and Sandra Reynolds, Athens, Texas; and many grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Beaver First Baptist Church.

Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Clearlake, Okla., under the direction of Clark Funeral Service, Beaver.

GRAYCE IOLA CALHOON

BEAVER, Okla. -- Grayce Iola Calhoon, 83, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at Mercy Health Care Center in Oklahoma City.

She was born April 13, 1916, to Harrison James and Flossie Mae (Kagy) Killen in Toledo, Ohio.

She married Dean Henry Calhoun Sr. Feb. 14, 1936, in Toledo Ohio. He died August 5, 1970.

She graduated from high school and attended two years of college. She was a dress shop owner in Beaver and had been a 30 year resident of Beaver County. She moved to Oklahoma City 20 years ago.

She was a member of the First Christian Church and a past member of the Beaver Garden Club, both in Beaver and a member of the China Painters of America.

She is survived by one son, Jim Calhoon, Beaver; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

Graveside funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Pioneer Cemetery in Beaver, with Audie Brooks presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Service in Beaver.

CHARLES HELMICK III

TYRONE, Okla. -- Charles "Chuck" Helmick III, 51, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at his home in Tyrone.

He was born Dec. 27, 1948, to Charles Jr. and Frances A. (Taylor) Helmick in Ottumwa, Iowa.

He married Judy Harrison April 22, 1972, in Tyrone. She survives.

He graduated from the Burlington, Iowa High School. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam conflict.

He moved to Liberal in 1972 where he was employed at Tradewinds. He moved to Garden City in 1973 where he worked in housing construction. He moved to Tyrone in 1975 where he was custodian for the Tyrone Public schools for 15 years. He retired in 1995.

He was involved with Way International and was a member of the VFW Lane Day Post #3166 in Liberal.

Other survivors include one son, Nathan Helmick, Tyrone; one daughter, Dolores Cates, Tyrone; his mother and step-father, Frances and Larry Miles, Burlington, Iowa; four brothers, Tim Helmick, Oskaloosa, Iowa, William Helmick, his twin, Goodletsville, Tenn., Raliegh Helmick, Burlington, Iowa, and Robert Helmick, Libertyville, Iowa; four sisters, Jean Cheney, Springdale, Ark., Ruby Nichols, Danville, Iowa, Rosie Helmick, Pinebluff, Ark. and Rusty Kobbs, Burlington, Iowa; and four grandchildren, Bessie, Abigail, Russell and John Cates.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Graveside services with military honors will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Tyrone Cemetery in Tyrone with Larry Yeager presiding.

Friends may call at the Miller Mortuary from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. until noon Tuesday.

RICHARD BAKER

TURPIN, Okla. -- Richard "Rick" Baker, 49, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at his residence in Turpin.

He was born March 16, 1950, to Arthur L. and Doris (Goddard) Baker in Sidney, Neb.

He married Mary Ann (Kost) Musgrave July 29, 1994, in Liberal. She survives.

He worked as the parts manager for Chrysler Corner. He was a member of the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in Liberal. He served in the United States Army for 18 years.

Other survivors include two sons, Richard Baker Jr. and wife, Melinda, Liberal, and Douglas Grant Baker and wife, Cheryl, Balko, Okla.; one step-son, Jay Musgrave, Liberal; two step-daughters, Tammy Janzen, Liberal, and Stacy Gowan, Oklahoma City; his step-mother, Jean Baker, Stillwell, Okla.; two brothers, Jim Baker, McPherson, and Ron Baker, Yardley, Penn.; two sisters, Sandra Horseman, Porsha, Ark., and Doris Goddard, Lubock, Texas; two half-sisters, Jackie Nelson, Loveland, Colo., and Val Jean Wheeler, Bakersfield, Calif.; and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant half-sister, Teresa Baker.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Liberal with the Rev. Wyatt Carpenter presiding. Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call at Kitch Funeral Home from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday.

The family suggests memorials to Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in care of Kitch Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second St., Liberal, KS 67901.

STEVEN ESTIL MILLIKAN

BEAVER, Okla. -- Steven Estil Millikan, 56, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in Greeley, Colo.

He was born Jan. 27, 1943, to Fred Ernest and Lillian Beatrice (Willis) Millikan in Beaver.

He married Mary Ann Marcum Aug. 5, 1972, in Alva, Okla.. She died in 1997.

He graduated from high school and attended four years of college. He was a member of the Baptist Church for more than 50 years. He was a farmer and rancher all of his life.

Survivors include one brother, Carlyle V. Millikan, Shawnee, Okla.; four sisters, Patricia Huddleston, Darrouzett, Texas, Lavena Winfough and Jean Cordell, both of Havensville, and Rosemary Holloway, Arkhoma, Okla.; and a host of other relatives.

Graveside funeral services were at 2 p.m. today at the Alva Municipal Cemetery in Alva. Services were under the direction of Clark Funeral Service in Beaver, Okla.
