FLORENCE E. FOSTER

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Florence Elizabeth Foster, 80, Oklahoma City, formerly of Guymon, Okla., died Friday, April 26, 2002, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City.

She was born July 21, 1921, to Sidney Lewellen and Emma Artie Vosper in Owasso, Okla.

She married Mitchell Haman Foster Aug. 22, 1942, in Oklahoma City. He died Aug. 25, 1986.

Her father died when she was young, so she and her siblings went to live and grew up at the Masonic Home in Guthrie, Okla. She attended school and graduated from Guthrie High School.

She attended the School of Nursing in Wichita.

While her husband served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, she lived in Oklahoma City until the end of the war.

She and her husband moved to Guymon, and then after her husband's death, she moved back to Oklahoma City.

She was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Guymon.

Survivors include one son, Alan Burk Foster and wife, Beth Ann, Glencoe, Okla.; one daughter, George Anna Foster, Oklahoma City; one sister, George Anna Wright, Moore, Okla.; one sister-in-law, Betty Nell Garrett, Oklahoma City; two nephews, John B. Garrett and wife, Debbie, and William Foster Garrett and wife, Theresa, all of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Micah Foster, Sarah Foster and Scott Foster; and one step-grandson, Dustin Dunbar.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home in Guymon with the Rev. Shannon Davis presiding.

Burial will be at Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon.

DOROTHY M. ADAMS

GUYMON, Okla. -- Dorothy Myrtle Adams, 82, Guymon, died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon.

She was born May 8, 1919, to Fredrick Thomas and Myrtle Viola (Zimms) Walker in Butler, Okla.

She married Monroe J. Adams Oct. 22, 1938, in Arapaho, Okla. He died March 26, 1999.

She was raised in and attended school in Butler and graduated from Butler High School.

She and her husband moved to Leedy, Okla., where he worked for MKT Railroad. They moved to Gate, Okla., and in 1957 to Tyrone, Okla.

She worked at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal for several years and then worked with her husband in the Liberal school system.

In 1994, they moved to Guymon.

She was a member of the No Man's Land Senior Citizen's Dance Club and the Victory Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Eddie Lane Adams and wife, Laura, Henderson, Nev., and Donaven Eugene Adams and wife, Pam, Guymon; one daughter, Marketta Sue Kidwell and husband, G. David, Guymon; 11 grandchildren, Freddie O'Malley, Malinda Napoli, Marketta Faye Carbo, Monroe John Adams Jr., Eric Smith, Verdonna Ashley, Ranz Adams, Veronica Adams, Sabrena Adams, Amy Jo Urias and Mandy Jonet Kidwell; and eight great-grandchildren, Kevin and Trevor Ashley, Natausha and Nikalus Urias, Wedge and Raven O'Malley and Maverick and Bret Adams.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Freddie Dewain Adams; three brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services will at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Victory Memorial United Methodist Church in Guymon with the Rev. Mike Chaffin presiding.

Burial will follow at Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon.

The family suggests memorials to the Arthritis Foundation in care of Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942.

BRET LANKFORD

GOODWELL, Okla. ­ Bret Lankford, 24 Goodwell, died Friday, April 26, 2002, at Meade County Lake.

He was born May 20, 1977, to Ronald D. and Jennifer K. (Day) Lankford in Dallas.

He married Jeri D. Kost Aug. 8, 1998 in Weatherford, Okla. She survives, and is expecting their first child in August.

He graduated in 1995 from Weatherford High School.

He served in the U.S. Army from February 1996 until January 1998.

He attended two years at Southwestern University in Weatherford, and transferred in January 2001 to Panhandle State University in Goodwell, where he was majoring in biology. He was also a teacher's assistant.

His hobbies included gardening, fishing and working with animals.

Other survivors include his parents, Ronald Lankford of Arlington, Texas, and Kay Day of Edmond, Okla.; one sister, Jennifer Lankford, Edmond; grandparents, Ben and Wynona Day, Carter, Okla., and Obie Lankford, Ardmore, Okla.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Lockstone Chapel in Weatherford.

Graveside services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Floris (Midway) Cemetery in Floris, Okla., with Willis R. "Bud" Davison and the Rev, Stanley Lehnert presiding.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.

The family suggests memorials to the Bret Lankford Memorial Fund at Community Bank in Liberal, or in care of Miller Mortuary, 908 N. Lincoln Ave., Liberal, KS 67905.

DELOSE SMITH

TYRONE, Okla. -- Delose "Bus" Smith, 75, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born March 13, 1926, to Fredrick Delose and Ruby Lois (Rhiness) Smith in Plains.

He married Mary Lee Hook Dec. 6, 1947, in Hugoton. She survives.

He had lived in Tyrone for the past 10 years, having moved from Guymon, Okla.

He was employed as a lead measurement technician at Panhandle Eastern for 36 years. He retired in 1984.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Other survivors include two sons, Terry Smith, Tyrone, and Timothy Smith, Rawlins, Wyo.; two sisters, Mary Anderson, Grand Junction, Colo., and Phyllis D. Ann Eaton, Liberal; three grandchildren, Trevor Smith, Beau Smith and Bambi Fulton; and one great-grandson, Andrew Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lloyd Smith and Lewis Smith; and one sister, Alice Joy Smith.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel in Liberal with the Rev. Keith Bryant presiding.

Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and until service time Saturday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal. The family will recieve friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second Street, Liberal, KS 67901.

VERNON A. DUERSON

TURPIN, Okla. -- Vernon Alvin "Dutch" Duerson, 90, Turpin, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born Dec. 16, 1910, to James Lewis and Agnes Vina (Stephens) Duerson at his family's homestead in the Dombey community, Okla.

He married Lenore Adams Mitchell May 2, 1949, in Colorado Springs, Colo. She died Feb. 14, 1996.

He was a farmer and rancher, and he co-owned the Duerson Brothers Insurance Company with his brother, Paul.

He lived on the family homestead

until March 1999, when he moved to Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal following a stroke.

He attended Enterprise School until it consolidated with Turpin, where he attended high school.

Her served as an electrician in the U.S. Navy for two years on a fire and rescue ship.

He was a member of the Turpin Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Duerson and wife, Ronna, and Alvin Duerson and wife, Lisa, all of Turpin; one daughter, Jane Ulibarri and husband, James, Turpin; six grandchildren, James, Andrea, John, Allison, Mellisa and Trey; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, Theo Newell, Lewis Duerson, Herman Duerson, Dennis Duerson, Leslie Duerson, Paul Duerson, Bertha Duerson and Inez Young Wiley.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Turpin United Methodist Church in Turpin with the Revs. Travis Welsh and Dianna Izquierdo presiding.

Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.

Memorials are suggested to either the Kidney Foundation for Jim Duerson and Jane Ulibarri or to the Turpin Methodist Church, both in care of Miller Mortuary, 908 N. Lincoln, Liberal, KS 67901.

CAROLYN M. CONNER

BEAVER, Okla. -- Carolyn M. Conner, 79, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at Beaver County Hospital in Beaver.

She was born Feb. 14, 1922, to Isacc Newton and Nellie (Webin) Phelps in Beaver County, Okla.

She married Lester Conner in 1944. He died Feb. 6, 1997.

She had been a lifetime resident of Beaver.

She was employed as a teller and later a bank official at the First Security Bank of Beaver prior to retirement.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, VFW and the Garden Clubs, all in Beaver.

Survivors include one son, Bill Conner, Beaver; two sisters, Mary Alice Gregg and Nellie Sharp, both of Beaver; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Beaver with the Rev. Bill Moore presiding.

Burial will be at Pioneer Cemetery in Beaver.

Clark Funeral Service in Beaver is in charge of arrangements.
