E.A. MATHIS

HOOKER ­ Okla. ­ E.A. "Al" Mathis, 86, Hooker, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.

He was born April 11, 1915, to Ed and Jennie (Woolsey) Mathis in Moline, Texas.

He married Loerine Wilson June 26, 1938 in Lefors, Texas. She died in May 1992.

He married Letha Judd Jan. 27, 1994. She survives.

He grew up during the Depression and his family moved many times, settling in the Lefors and Sayre, Okla. area.

He graduated from Sayre High School, and attended Texas Tech University on a football scholarship for one month before moving back to Sayre.

He began working for Caltexo Oil Co. in 1937, and moved to Continental Oil Co. at the Dansinger Plant in Lefors the following year.

He moved to Hooker in 1948 and worked for Dorchester Gas Producing, retiring as a superintendent in 1988 after 32 years with Dorchester.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hooker.

He served on the Hooker school board more than 10 years. He was president of the Blackmer Municipal Golf Club, and was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge.

His hobbies included golfing, traveling the U.S., and visiting family.

Other survivors include three sons, Richard Mathis and wife, Janet, Golden, Colo., Bob Mathis and wife, Ann, Belle Vista, Ark., and Bill Mathis and wife, Rita, Montgomery, Ala.; two step-daughters, Vicki Hofferber and husband, Larry, Hooker, and Sherri Lackey and husband, Doug, Marietta, Ga.; two brothers, Floyd Mathis, Hooker, and Ted Mathis and wife, Audrey, Canyon City, Colo.; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Hooker with the Brother Ron Mimms presiding.

Burial will be at Hooker Cemetery in Hooker under the direction of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker.

Memorials are suggested to the Blackmer Municipal Golf Course or the Hooker Ambulance Association, both in care of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.

VIRDIE MAYO

FORGAN, Okla. -- Virdie Mayo, 90, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, in Big Spring, Texas.

She was born Aug. 12, 1911, in Beaver County, Okla., where she lived until five years ago when she moved to Big Spring.

She wa a homemaker and a member of the Forgan First Baptist Church in Forgan.

Survivors include one son, L.D. Robins, Forgan; two daughters, Loubel Dickens, Big Spring, and Roberta Oldfield, Sayre, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Forgan First Baptist Church with Wayne Moore presiding and Mike Mackey assisting.

Burial will be at Midway Cemetery in Floris, Okla.

Clark Funeral Service in Beaver is in charge of arrangements.

VIVIAN C. FISCUS

LAVERNE, Okla. ­ Vivian Charlotte Fiscus, 70, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

She was born March 14, 1931, to Estol Vernon and Mable Marie (Huddleston) DeVilbiss in Avard, Okla.

She married Doyal B. Bay Nov. 14, 1949.

She married Johnny V. Fiscus April 1, 1968. He died in March 1989.

She attended grade school in Avard and went to Waynoka (Okla.) High School.

She had been a waitress and a nurses aide.

She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Laverne and the Order of the Eastern Star. She taught Sunday school.

Survivors include two sons, Frankie Bay and wife, Susie, Moody, Texas, and Steve Fiscus and wife, Shelli, Edmond, Okla.; four daughters, Charlotte Boliver and husband, Ronnie, Lake Dallas, Texas, Barbara Boley, Durant, Okla., Tammy Mulbery and husband, Tracy, Laverne, and Cyndi Travis and husband, Ron, Liberal; one sister, Sharon Lyon and husband, Larry, Alva, Okla.; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Delys Hull.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Assembly of God Church in Laverne with the Rev, Wes Peterman presiding.

Burial will be at the Waynoka Cemetery in Waynoka.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Myatt-Seeger Funeral Home in Laverne.

Memorials are suggested to the Laverne Senior Citizens in care of the Myatt-Seeger Funeral Home, Box 909, Laverne, OK 73848.

DORIS L. MCCAULEY

PRAGUE, Okla. ­ Doris LaFaye McCauley, 69, died Friday, Dec, 21, 2001, in Oklahoma City.

She was born Aug. 15, 1932, to Thomas L. and Ibbie Faith (Clark) West McCauley.

She married Charles Patterson. He preceded her in death.

She had lived in the Prague area since 1995 and was a hairdresser.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Prague, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include her mother, of Prague; one son, Dale Alan Patterson, Payson, Ariz.; one daughter, Laverne Ashlock, Yukon, Okla.; one brother, John McCauley, Prague; four sisters, Elaine Newman, Jeannie Brown, and Naomi Ruth Davis, all of Prague, and Carol Beckwith, Liberal; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her father in 1976 and one daughter, Deanna Sue Dickerson in 1998.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Prague wit the Bro. Tim Emmons presiding.

Parks Brothers Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

HOMER E. DIXON JR.

GUYMON, Okla. -- Homer E. "Boodles" Dixon Jr., 84, died

Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at the Veteran's Center in Norman, Okla.

He was born April 15, 1917, to Homer Sr. and Esta Dixon in Childress, Texas.

He married Marie Shields Nov. 6, 1937. She died July 18, 1982.

He and his wife lived in Guymon, where he worked as a shop foreman and parts manager at the Chevrolet dealership.

In 1943, he joined Patton's 3rd Army and was in the European Theatre. He returned to Guymon after the war.

He and his wife, along with Otto and Jean Frittz, formed the "House of Color" in the early 1960s. It was a local home improvement and art supply store. He specialized in vinyl flooring and picture framing.

He and his wife retired from the business in early 1982.

In 1998, he moved to Norman.

He was a member of the Victory Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, David Dixon and wife, Julie, Norman; two brothers, James Dixon and wife, Alice Margaret, Dallas, and Richard Dixon and wife, Charlotte, Liberal; one sister, Mickey Nash and husband, Howard, Guymon; and two grandchildren, Tori Rae and Kylie Dixon, Norman.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Victory Memorial United Methodist Church in Guymon with the Rev. Mike Chaffin presiding.

Burial will be at Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon.

Memorials are suggested to Victory Memorial United Methodist Church's Children's Ministry in care of Henson-Novak Funeral Directors, Box 1306, Guymon, OK 73942.

LORETTA S. CUMMINS

BEAVER, Okla. -- Loretta Susie Cummins, 53, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at her home in Beaver.

She was born May 11, 1948, to Cecil and Leona (Burns) Bridwell in Beaver.

She graduated from Beaver High School in Beaver. She attended college for three years.

She married William Ray Cummins May 30, 1969, in Beaver. He survives.

She ran a home Internet commerce business.

She has resided in Beaver for the past eight years.

Survivors also include her mother ; one son, Lance Eliot Cummins, Stockbridge, Ga.; one grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Clearlake Baptist Church, in Clearlake, Okla., with Wayne Moore presiding.

Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Clearlake.

Services are under the direction of Clark Funeral Service in Beaver.

Memorials are suggested to the Clearlake Baptist Church, Rt. 2, P.O. Box 73, Beaver, OK 73932.
