JOHN R. GIBLER

HOOKER, Okla. -- John R. Gibler, 87, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at Elk City Nursing Home in Elk City, Okla.

He was born Nov. 15, 1916, to Edward and Annie Strange Gibler on the family farm southwest of Hooker.

He married Alma Mae Mouser June 30, 1935 near Mouser, Okla. She died Nov. 2, 1998.

He attended school at Locust Grove Rural School near his home.

He farmed in Dighton and drove a truck for Groendyke Trucking for a few years.

In 1946, he took over farming from his father and continued to far until his retirement in 1982.

He and his wife moved from the farm to Hooker in 1990. In 1999, he moved to Elk City.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hooker, the Odd Fellows Lodge and Lions Club.

Survivors include one son, Devon Gibler and wife, Janetta, Elk City; one daughter, Judy Lamb and husband, Jim, Evans, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Joe Davis, Lubbock, Texas, David Gibler and wife, Anjanette, Hooker, Jana Kaye Belding and husband, Jeff, Jonesboro, Ark., Amanda Lamb, Bolivar, Mo., Jamie Lamb, Evans, Wendy Davis and Anna Marie Naasz, both of Elk City; four great-grandchildren, Aaron, Sydney, Caitlin and Mackinzie; and one great-great-grandchild, Reagan Nicole.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Kathy Kaye Naasz; two brothers, Ralph Gibler and Eldon Shaffer; and one sister, Edna May Kennedy.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Hooker with the Rev. Rick Trobaugh presiding.

Burial will be at Hooker Cemetery in Hooker.

Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association in care of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.

LEROY FAST

HOOKER, Okla. -- LeRoy Fast, 69, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born Dec. 14, 1932, to Clarence and Nellie (Loewen) Fast in rural Hooker.

He married Velma Spiegel. She preceded him in death.

He married Evelyn Marie DeRome Feb. 14, 1970, in Adams, Okla. She died Dec. 17, 1996.

He attended school in Adams and graduated from Adams High School in 1951. He then attended Panhandle A&M College in Goodwell, earning a degree in 1955.

He then entered the United States Air Force, serving for two years.

He operated as a fertilizer distributor for many years and later was a truck driver, driving for Spike's Trucking out of Moscoe.

Survivors include two step-sons, Marvin Dow, Loganville, Ga., and Michael Dow and wife, Kathy, Laretto, Ky.; one step-daughter, Rita Mead and husband, Alvin, Pratt; and one sister, Alberta Mouser, Garden City.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Gospel of Grace Church in Hooker with the Rev. Odie Nunley presiding.

Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Luka Cemetery in Luka with the Rev. Scott Buller presiding.

Memorials are suggested to any local animal shelter or the Humane Society in care of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.

HAROLD D. KIRKSEY

HOOKER, Okla. -- Harold Dewayne Kirksey, 61, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born Feb. 22, 1941, to Ezra Thomas and Bertie Lorene (Daring) Kirksey in Springfield, Mo.

He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was employed with BF Goodrich in Miami, Okla., until his retirement in 1989. Following his retirement, he moved to Hooker, where he had been a resident since.

He was a member of First Baptist Church and American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Janet, of the home; one son, Chris Kirksey, Grove, Okla.; six daughters, Patricia Lee Fason, California, Mary Ann Nichols, Broken Arrow, Okla., Donna Sue March, Columbia, Mo., Pamela Jean Washington, Garden City, Karen Lee Hodges, Kansas City, Mo., and Nichole Janine Cook, Laverne, Okla.; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Cecil Kirksey, Wagoner, Okla., and Ezra Thomas Kirksey Jr., Miami, Okla.; and one sister, Jenelle Pittman, Miami, Okla.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Hooker with the Rev. Ron Mimms presiding.

Burial will be at Hooker Cemetery in Hooker.

Memorials are suggested to Life Recovery Ministries in care of the church office or Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.

WILLIAM J. FRENCH

WAYNOKA, Okla. -- William J. French, 72, former Hooker, Okla., resident, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at Waynoka Nursing Home in Waynoka.

He was born Oct. 4, 1930.

He and his wife, Martha, were residents of Hooker before moving to Waynoka in 1989.

Survivors include three sons, Rick French, Waynoka, John French and wife, Donna Sue, Missouri, and Leslie French and wife, Angie, Tyrone, Okla.; one daughter, Donna Faye Brannum and husband, Steve, Georgia; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

Graveside services were today at Camargo Cemetery in Camargo, Okla.

Marshall Funeral Home in Waynoka was in charge of arrangements.

CHARLES L. HUEBNER

TURPIN, Okla. -- Charles Leroy Huebner, 60, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman, Okla.

He was born June 30, 1942, to Ernest H. and Augusta "Gussie" P. (Wald) Huebner in Liberal.

He attended and graduated from Turpin High School in 1960 and attended Central State University in Edmond, Okla., for two years.

He was a lifelong farmer in the Turpin community and was manager of Perryton Equity in Turpin for several years. He was a county commissioner for Beaver County for the past 21 years.

He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Liberal, and the Association of County Commissioners of Oklahoma.

Survivors include one son, Craig Huebner and wife, Cindy, Turpin; two daughters, Kim Hall, Turpin, and Heather Looney and husband, Jeff, New Boston, Texas; two brothers, Joe Huebner and wife, Dorothy, Amarillo, Texas, and Felix Huebner, Turpin; and four grandchildren, Brandon and Brooke Bryan, and Desiree and Chase Huebner; and fiancee, Nelda Gray and her daughter, Amy, Purcell, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Liberal with the Pastor Andrew Wehling presiding.

Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in care of Miller Mortuary, 908 N. Lincoln, Liberal, KS 67905.

JOYCE M. FISCHER

HOOKER, Okla. -- Joyce Marie Fischer, 72, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at her home in Hooker.

She was born April 22, 1930, to Henry and Norma Williams in Los Angeles.

She married Norman Fischer July 31, 1949. He survives.

She spent her early years in Hooker before her family moved to Chelsea, Okla. She returned to Hooker in 1945 and graduated from Hooker High School in 1948.

She and her husband lived west of Hooker, where they farmed. She was a homemaker.

In 1982, they moved to the town of Hooker.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hooker, where she was active in mission projects and youth ministry. She was an Acteens leader.

She was also a member of Baptist Women's Missionary Union, Hagolu and the Quilting Guild.

Her hobbies included traveling, attending barbershop singing conventions with her husband, cooking for family and friends, and volunteering at the grade school library.

Other survivors include three sons, Dick Fischer and wife, Billye, Tom Fischer and wife, Patsy, and Harry Fischer and wife, Emilie, all of Hooker; two daughters, Linda Fischer and husband, Jim Armstrong, Denver, and Carla Thomas and husband, Danny, Mooreland, Okla.; grandchildren, Andrew and Matthew Beard and Kevin and Clare Armstrong, all of Denver, Angela and Courtney Flanagan, both of Hooker, Leigh Ann and Casey King, both of Guymon, Okla., Nathan and Heather Fischer and Aaron and Lyndsy Fischer, all of Atlanta, Julie Jackson of Alva, Okla., Anthony Jackson, Trista, TaLisa and Tyler Fischer, all of Hooker, and Derrick, Brett, Matthew and Katelyn Thomas, all of Mooreland; three great-grandchildren, Hunter and Chase Fischer, Atlanta, and Gabriel Flanagan, Hooker; two brothers, Allen Williams and wife, Elsie, Elgin, Ore., and Gerald Williams and wife, Nancy, LaCygne; two sisters-in-law, Leanore Williams, Peoria, Ariz., and Carolyn Fischer, Hooker; one brother-in-law, Donnie Fischer and wife, Wanda, Hooker; nephews, Willie Williams, Elgin, Tony and Todd Williams, both of LaCygne, A. Kent Fischer and Bryan Fischer, both of Oklahoma City, and Roger Fischer and Fred Fischer, both of Hooker; and nieces, Aladine Williams, Debra Sturtevant, and Amy Debell, all of Elgin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Leland Williams; one sister-in-law, Marjorie Fischer; a niece, Lu Ann Fischer Miller; and one brother-in-law, Allan Fischer.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Hooker with the Brothers Ron Mimms and Tom Lee presiding.

Burial will be at Hooker Cemetery in Hooker.

Memorials are suggested to the Baptist Children's Home, the Hooker Swimming Pool or to the charity of the donor's choice, all in care of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.

NELLIE M. HILL

HOOKER, Okla. -- Nellie Mae Hill, 87, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

She was born Jan. 22, 1915, to Elijah and Mabel (Remling) Hershey north of Hooker.

She married Alex J. Hill II Nov. 28, 1935, in Hooker. He died Aug. 11, 2001.

She attended Hooker schools where she played basketball, softball and ran track.

She and her husband made their first home south of Hooker and later moved to a farm north of Hooker on the Buzzard Place. They farmed, ranched and milked, retiring in 1991. She and her husband stayed on the farm until 1999, when they moved to Liberal.

She was a member of Church of the Nazarene in Hooker, where she was on the church board and was in charge of the food for church dinners. She was past president of the Garden Club, a member of the Mother's Club, Senior Citizens and Loyal Helpers. She worked as a volunteer at the Hooker Chamber of Commerce. She worked in the Hooker Public School lunch room for many years.

Her hobbies included playing the piano, playing games and attending auctions.

Survivors include five sons, Ralph D. Hill and wife, Jenelle, Hooker, James L. Hill and wife, Lorna, Hooker, N. Dale Hill and wife, Pat, Caldwell, Texas, Lynn Hill and wife, Diane, Earth, Texas, and Devon Hill and wife, Brenda, Hooker; one nephew, Norman Eagleton, Sugar Land, Texas; one brother, Clarence Hershey and wife, Jeanne, Hooker; one half-brother, George Tarrant and wife, Donna, Eugene, Ore.; two sisters, Hazel Pittman, Clemson, S.C., and Esther Dammen, Las Vegas; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one infant son, Alex J. III; one step-son, James; one granddaughter, Keri Peterson; one great-granddaughter, Bailee Peterson; three brothers, Ralph, Roy and Eldon; and three sisters, Ruby, Helen and Edith.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Church of the Nazarene in Hooker with the Dr. David Hoffman and the Brother Eddy Scoggins presiding.

Burial will be at Hooker Cemetery in Hooker.

Memorials are suggested to Family Life Center at Church of the Nazarene in Hooker or the charity of choice in care of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.
