LOIS HODGES

HOOKER, Okla. -- Lois Hodges, 91, Hooker, died Aug. 6, 2002, at her daughter's home in Edmond, Okla.

She was born Oct. 3, 1910, on the family homestead northwest of Hooker.

She married Ernie Hodges Feb. 3, 1937, in Riverside, Calif. He died Dec. 5, 1996.

She attended and graduated from Goodwell High School in Goodwell, Okla.

She moved to California to live with her sister, Leila. She and her husband lived in California until 1950, when they moved to Hooker.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Hooker.

Survivors include one daughter, Karen Ownby, Edmond; one son-in-law, Kent Ownby, Edmond; three grandchildren, Joel, Nicholas and Kristopher; and one great-grandson, Gracen.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Leila; and five brothers, Clifford, Gerald, Herbert, Howard and Don.

Graveside services were at 9 a.m. today at Hooker Cemetery in Hooker with the Rev. Merilee Berry presiding.

Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker was in charge of arrangements.

DEREK L. HODGES

FORGAN, Okla. -- Derek Lee Hodges, 20, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, in a motor vehicle accident four miles west of Forgan.

He was born Sept. 4, 1981, to Jerry Wayne and Carol (DuBois) Hodges in Beaver, Okla.

He graduated high school in 2000 and worked as a compressor mechanic.

He is survived by his parents; step-father, Cecil Tedder, Forgan; one sister, Robin (Hodges) Elfers, Beaver, Okla.; one brother, Korey Tedder, Forgan; two grandmothers, Amelia Ratlief, Forgan, and Sue Ann Osteen, Beaver; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Forgan High School Auditorium with Bob Mackey presiding.

Burial will be at Forgan Cemetery under the direction of Clark Funeral Service in Beaver.

R. GENE SHAW

BAKER, Okla. -- R. Gene Shaw, 58, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, near his home near Baker.

He was born Feb. 8, 1944, to Bill and Ruby (Maker) Shaw in Elkader, Iowa.

He married Jean McBee May 26, 1984. She survives.

He moved to Liberal in 1981.

He began Double SS Trucking in 1990 with one grain truck. Double SS currently owns five trucks and leases an additional four trucks.

Other survivors include four daughters, Cara Shaw and husband, Joe Olivas, Amarillo, Texas, Robin Berube and husband, Bob, Amarillo, Stephanie Taylor and husband, Trent, Forgan, Okla., and Kristy Wyer and husband, Kevin, Tyrone, Okla.; one son, Reynold Gene Shaw, Jr.; eight grandchildren, Rex Allen Yearous, Nicole Yearous, Ashley Frias-Shaw, Kristopher Wyer, Kaylee Wyer, Zackary McBee, Courtney Robertson and Alex McBee; six sisters, Ruth Templeton and husband, Steve, Oceola, Iowa, Lois Jokumson and husband, Steve, Holland, Mich., Beck Jorgensen, Doris Shaw McClurkey, and Linda Dillion and husband, Bill, all of Independence, Iowa, and Kay Savago, Rowley, Iowa; four brothers, Dennis Mendenhall, Winthrop, Iowa, Wesley Mendenhall, Los Angeles, Randy Shaw, Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Steve Shaw, Stockton, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved pet, TJ.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Tyrone Baptist Church with the Rev. Chad Rhoades presiding.

Burial will be at Tyrone Cemetery in Tyrone under the direction of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker.

Memorials are suggested to Baker Fire Department for the purchase of a defibrillator to be used in the community of Baker. Donations may be left at First National Bank of Hooker, Riffe and Gilmore Elevator in Baker or Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.

MARY L. BUCK

MIDWEST CITY, Okla. -- Mary "Lou" Lucille Buck, 74, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, in Midwest City.

She was born Sept. 29, 1927, to William and Ella (Thornton) Lambert near Coats.

She married Stanley Ogletree in 1948. She married Russell Buck in 1980.

She attended school in Kismet and had been a longtime Liberal area resident.

Survivors include two sons, Rick Ogletree, Boulder, Colo., and Todd Ogletree, Tyrone, Okla; two daughters, Marsha Helm, Harrah, Okla., and Thyria Ogletree, Boulder; one brother, Allen Lambert, Montrose, Colo.; two sisters, Helen Streiff, Liverpool, Texas, and Boni Gingras, Parker, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Cedra Ogletree, Boulder, Sky Ogletree, Boulder, Matt Helm, Pond Creed, Okla., Casey Helm, Harrah, Okla., Kyra McGee, Boulder, and Nyal McGee, Boulder; and one great-grandchild, Jakob Matthew Helm.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel in Liberal.

ROSS E. WOODSON

LAVERNE, Okla. -- Ross E. Woodson, 56, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, in a drilling rig accident in Decator, Texas.

He was born Sept. 23, 1945, to John Robert and Lora Thelma (Blosser) Woodson in Logan, Okla.

He married Joyce Lynn Raney Dec. 18, 1965, in Beaver, Okla. She survives.

He attended Victory Country School in Laverne and Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Okla. He earned a bachelor's degree in science.

He was a resident of the Logan Community in Beaver County.

He was a farmer and rancher.

He was a drilling foreman for Cheyenne Drilling. He later owned and operated Woodson Commodities.

He was a Drill Sergeant in the U.S. Armed Forces.

He was a member of the Laverne Panhandle Bowling League.

Other survivors include one son, Ross "Eric" Woodson and wife, Nicole, Mooreland, Okla., three daughters, Lisa Moore and husband, Mike, Liberal, Laura Rutschman and husband, Jeff, Dodge City, and Shelia King and husband, Ted, Wann, Okla.; three brothers, Carl Woodson, McAlister, Okla., Robert Woodson and wife, Sharon, Logan, Okla., and Wayne Woodson, Woodward, Okla.; three sisters, Thelma Long and husband, Lowell, Granby, Mo., Leora Bridgewater and husband, Herbert, Durant, Okla., and Shirley Woodson, Woodward; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and one nephew, Mike Long.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Apostolic Faith Church in Laverne with the Revs. Lowell Long and Ann Holman presiding.

Burial will be at the family farm in Laverne.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at Myatt-Seeger Funeral Home in Laverne.

DRADON GORDON

HOOKER, Okla. -- Dradon Gordon, 83, Hooker, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, at Elk City Nursing Home in Elk City, Okla.

He was born Dec. 1, 1918, to James Henry and Lila Irene (Kimble) Gordon on the family farm near Turpin, Okla.

He married Opal Mae Acker Feb. 20, 1941, in Liberal. She died Jan. 29, 2000.

He attended school in Baker, Okla.

He worked for various farmers in the Liberal area. He and his wife lived in Perryton, Texas, until 1959, when they moved to Hooker.

He worked for Herbel Concrete, Tri-County Electric in Hooker, and Beech Aircraft in Liberal.

He retired in 1981.

His hobbies included hunting and fishing, and camping in Cimarron Canyon in New Mexico.

Survivors include one son, Jimmy Gordon and wife, Doris, Canute, Okla.; one daughter, Veda Raff, Hooker; five brothers, Larry Gordon and wife, Lucille, Forgan, Okla., Norton Gordon and wife, Kathryn, Liberal, Ernie Gordon and wife, June, Liberal, Mervin Gordon and wife, Maxine, Calera, Okla., and Dean Gordon and wife, Nancy, Albuquerque, N.M.; three sisters, Marjorie Spady and husband, Leonard, Liberal, Loretta Krieger, Liberal, and Sandra Kelso and husband, Wayne, Colorado Springs, Colo.; one brother-in-law, Lloyd Acker and wife, Deloris, Olathe; one sister-in-law, Rosie Raff, Hooker; four grandchildren, Cindy Cole and husband, Delmer, Shamrock, Texas, Timothy Raff and wife, Carma, Samnorwood, Texas, Rhoda Martinez and husband, Leonard, Guymon, Okla., and Jimmy Gordon II, Canute; seven great-grandchildren, Josh Herzberg, Hooker, Sam Herzberg, San Diego, Calif., Daniel Herzberg and Cinnamon Herzberg, both of Norman, Okla., Colbert Gordon, Canute, Lacey Raff and Christy Raff, both of Samnorwood, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one child; three brothers; two granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Church of Christ in Hooker with Neville Buchanan and John Maynard presiding.

Burial will be at Hooker Cemetery in Hooker directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker.

Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer Association in care of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.

GERTRUDE LEAMING

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Gertrude Leaming, 65, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at Grace Living Center in Stillwater.

She was born Feb. 17, 1937, to Arthur I. and Myrtle C. (Hoffert) Leaming in Liberal.

She attended school in Liberal and had worked at several motels in Liberal for many years.

She had been a resident of Stillwater for the past 10 years.

She was a member of South Church of God in Liberal.

Survivors include one brother, Cecil Leaming and wife, Emily, Pond Creek, Okla.; one sister, Ann Williams and husband, R.J., Perkins, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and four sisters.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Miller Mortuary Chapel in Liberal with the Rev. David Hellmig presiding.

Burial will be at Forgan Cemeteryi Forgan, Okla.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time Friday at Miller Mortuary Chapel.
