Sumiko E. Anuszewski

Age 71, Lawton, Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses West Congregation with Mr. Terry Kiner officiating.

Mrs. Anuszewski died Tuesday in a local hospital.

Burial will be in Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.

She was born January 15, 1933 in Hokkaido, Japan. She married Stanley Peter Anuszewski, Jr. in 1954 in Japan. He died March 13, 1984. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, West Congregation.

Survivors include a son; Stanley V. Anuszewski, Ozark, Alabama, two daughters; Dora A. Presley and her husband Leonard R., and Roxanne C. Heinz and her husband Michael E., all of Lawton, three grandchildren; Sean C. Piatt, Lauren R. Heinz, and Arianne M. Heinz, all of Lawton, and brothers and sisters in Japan and Hawaii.

Helen P. Stephens

Age 100, Elgin, Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, December 4, 2004 in the First United Methodist Church, Elgin, with Rev. Blessing Yap, pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Stephens died Wednesday in Oklahoma City.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Lawton, under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home of Fletcher (formerly Robbins Funeral Home).

Mrs. Stephens was born October 26, 1904 in Missouri to Roscoe and Minnie (Cremer) Choens. She moved to Elgin at the age of four. She attended school in Elgin and later finished high school at the Women’s College in Chickasha. She married Bailey Raegan Stephens in 1940. He died in February of 1969.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Elgin, the Church Quilting Club and the Church Choir. She was also a member of the Methodist Women’s Missionary Society.

Survivors include Three Sons: Bailey Stephens, Lawton, Oklahoma, Will Rogers Stephens, Moore, Oklahoma and Robert Stephens and wife Rebecca, Elgin, Oklahoma; One Daughter: Carolyn McNeil and husband Burton, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Eight Grandchildren: Curtis Jump, Charlotte Taylor, Cynthia Barton, Cecelia Jump, Crystal Hardberger, Christy Glover, Kim Stephens and Brandon Stephens; 14 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by a Son, James Jump, two Sisters: Gladys Choens and Mozelle Choens; a Brother, R.C. Choens and a Granddaughter: Juli Anderson.

Patricia Burrier

Age 74, Lawton, Services will be 12:00 PM Monday at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Ricky Sanchez, Chaplain, Red River Hospice, Duncan, officiating.

Mrs. Burrier died Friday at her residence.

Burial will be in the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin.

She was born on February 15, 1931 in Mansfield, Ohio to John Patrick and Dorothy Virginia (Sanford) Flood, Jr. She grew up in New York and Connecticut. She married John Jerome Murphy, Jr. on October 22, 1949 in Fort Devins, Massachusetts. She then married Richard Lane Burrier on May 11, 1974 in Woodbridge, Virginia. He died on May 6, 1993. She traveled extensively with both her husband’s while they were in the military. She moved to Lawton in 1993. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, the American Legion Post #26, Pleasant Valley Senior Center and the Nora O’Neal Adult Day Care.

Survivors include eight children, John J. Murphy, III of Dallas, Texas; Susan Threlkeld and her husband, Gary, of Dallas, Texas; Patricia Evans and her husband, Mike, of El Paso, Texas; George M. Murphy and his wife, Joan, of Green Bay, Wisconsin; William M. Murphy and his wife, Susan, of Saco, Maine; Kathy Murphy and her husband, Clint, of Lawton; Jan Stafford of Lawton; and Jean Lockey and her husband, Jon, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; three brothers, John Patrick Flood and his wife, Ellen, of Wisconsin; George F. Hambach and his wife, Laura, of New Jersey; and Michael “Mick” Flood of Ohio; a sister and brother-in-law, Jodi McBride and Bob of Oregon; fourteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5700 North Portland, Suite 203, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73120.

Juanita J. Benge

Age 94, Lawton - Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the First Christian Church with Rev. Bryan K. Dunham, officiating.

Mrs. Benge died Thursday in Lawton.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.

She was born August 31, 1911 in Springdale, Arkansas. She moved to Oklahoma at the age of six and was a 1930 graduate of Wetumka High School and later attended East Central State Teacher’s College. She married William M. Benge on June 24, 1931 in Calvin, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on November 15, 1971. She moved to Lawton in 1945 and was active in various local, civic and fraternal organizations. She was an active member of the Sweet Pea group in the Lawton Garden Club, served on the Comanche County Election Board and performed voter registration service for 50 years. As a member of the First Christian Church for over 57 years, she served on the church board and was active in church activities including the Christian Women’s Fellowship where she was past president and taught the Lookout Sunday School Class for eighteen years. She was a member of Eastern Star and Amaranth in which she held many local Chapter and State offices.

Survivors include a daughter and son in law, Bette and Charles L. Dunham, Lawton; a daughter in law, Rita Benge, Midlothian, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

A son, William J. Benge, a daughter, Barbara Brubaker Dale, and a great granddaughter, Katelyn Rose Dunham, preceded her in death.

MSG (Retired) Lemuel B. Hamilton

Age 90, Lawton - Graveside services will be at 9:00 AM Thursday at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill with Dr. Keith Miles, pastor of Central Baptist Church officiating.

Sgt Hamilton died Monday in a local hospital.

Burial will be under the direction of Becker Funeral Home.

He was born May 23, 1916 in Wilson, Oklahoma to George Washington and Minler Ethel (Cox) Hamilton. He grew up near Wilson, where he graduated from high school. He married Helen Ruth Clinton on December 25, 1942 in Davis. She died April 18, 2004. He served in the Army from 1939 until 1962. Sgt Hamilton was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Following his retirement from the Army, he was a dental lab technician. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law; Jim and Sharon Hamilton, Lawton, Roy and Nancy Hamilton, Lawton, and George Hamilton, San Diego, California, two daughters and son-in-law; Linda and Bill Whisenant, San Antonio, Texas, and Judy Hamilton, Aurora, Colorado, four grandchildren; Matt Hamilton, Edmond, Julie Hamilton, Lawton, Mark Hamilton, Tyler, Texas, and Michael Hamilton, Lawton, three great grandchildren; John Michael Hamilton, Lawton, Emmalee Rose Hamilton, Lawton, and Joshua Hamilton, Edmond, a sister; Vivian Lewis, Duncan, and a brother, John Hamilton, Virginia Beach, Virginia.

SFC (Retired) Jacob J. Kukurich

Age 78, Lawton - Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Monday in the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Rod Ozmun, Pastor, officiating.

Sergeant Kukurich died Wednesday at his home.

Burial with full military honors will be in the Veteran’s Field of Honor at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.

He was born on May 26, 1928 in Akron, Ohio to Nickolas and Theresa (Bradach) Kukurich. He served in the US Army and had two tours to Vietnam. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and retired on April 1, 1974. He received numerous medals including the National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star Medal, three Overseas Service Bars, six Service Stripes and the Good Conduct Medal (6th Award).

He married Melitta Helferich in Aschaffenburg, Germany on March 11, 1962. He worked with Civil Service at Fort Sill and retired after many years. He was also a bus driver for Lawton Public Schools for three years. He was a member of the German/American Club, Lawton Boat Club and the Retired Serviceman’s Association.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Brigitte Lehew and her husband, Dale, of Lawton and Rosemary Smith of Lawton; seven grandchildren, Melinda, Johnathon, Misty, Crystal, Aaron, Jason and Nathan; 13 great grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law, Steve Kukurich and Sylvia of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; a sister, Rosalie Mack of Akron, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Roland Helferich and his wife, Monika, of Siegsdorf, Germany; and several other nieces and nephews.

His parents, a sister and a brother preceded him in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Indian Territory Home Health and Hospice, 305 NW Sheridan Road, Lawton, Oklahoma 73505.

Orilla Mae Rasco

Age 74, Lawton - Funeral mass will be at 10:30 am Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Rev. James D.M. Stafford, Pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Rasco died Wednesday in a Lawton hospital.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Becker Funeral Home.

*** A Rosary service will be held Monday evening at 7:00pm at the Becker Memorial Chapel ***

She was born July 17, 1932 in Lawton to John and Valentine Rohenkohl. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated in 1951. Before graduation she started working for RMA and Charley Wade Oldsmobile, and later worked for Etta Sullivan Insurance and Marian Duncan P.A. She was a member of the Professional Women’s Club, OSPA, the American Legion Post 193 and was an avid bowler. She married Joseph S. Jung in 1953 and James B. Rasco in 1976. Mr. Rasco passed away November 23, 1997.

Survivors include her children and their spouses: Sheryl and Art Mata of Lawton, OK, John and Debbie Jung of Lawton, OK, Mary Jo and Randy Griffin also of Lawton, OK. Grandchildren: Angie and J.T. Konczak of Kilgore, TX, Jason and Julie Duncan of Surprise, AZ, Chad Strause of Lawton, OK, Kerry Duncan of Tempe, AZ, Jeremy Griffin of Lawton, OK, Tyson Jung of Lawton, OK and Cody Griffin of Lawton, OK. Great Grandchildren: Tucker Konczak, Trinity Jung, Katie Jung, Kali Duncan, and Ryder Konczak. Step-son and Step-daughter: James A. Rasco and Phyllis Winstead. Step-grandchildren and Step-great grandchildren: Two sisters-in-law: Lucia Rohenkohl of Lawton, OK and Lois Rohenkohl of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and a very special friend Ted Chaat.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, four brothers and a grandson Christopher Wade Duncan.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Brenda Landers

Age 44, Elgin - Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Fletcher Christian Church with Paul Lutz, Pastor, The Cowboy Church, officiating.

Mrs. Landers died Monday at her residence.

Burial will be in the Fletcher Cemetery under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home, Lawton.

She was born February 20, 1962 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, to Billy Ray and Norma Britton Simerly. She was a 1980 graduate of Lawton High School. She married Dave Landers on June 28, 1998 in Lawton. She had worked for K-Mart for eight years and had been an employee of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 15 years. She had lived in Elgin for a number of years and was active in the annual Relay for Life there.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; two daughters, Alyssa and Angela Massey, both of the home; two sons, Austin and Aarron Massey, both of the home; her mother, Norma Simerly, Cushing, Oklahoma, two brothers, Steve Stowers, Cleveland, Oklahoma, and Michael Simerly, Montgomery, Alabama; a step son and daughter in law, Damian and Chandra Landers, Elgin; a step daughter and son in law, Brandy and John Resseu, Seattle, Washington; three grandchildren, Dillon, Dalton and Makai.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Victory Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Box 769, Elgin OK 73538.

Thelma Grooms Petty

Age 74, Wichita Falls, TX - Services will be at 10:00 am Tuesday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mike Murray, Pastor of Lawton Heights Church of the Nazarene officiating.

Mrs. Petty died Sunday in Wichita Falls, TX.

Burial will be in Letitia Cemetery, east of Lawton.

She was born February 1, 1932 in Indiahoma, Oklahoma to Charlie Wesley and Ruby Mae (Brutton) Grooms. She married Vester Truman Petty on March 13, 1953 in Lawton. She had worked at Surplus City for many years, worked hard to take care of her family, loved the mountains and was an excellent seamstress.

Survivors include her former husband Truman Petty of the home, three children, Truman Petty and his wife Mary of Walters, OK, Charlene Bullard and her husband Bill of Elgin, OK and Shirley Brown and Floyd Maxey of McAlester, OK. She is also survived by two sisters, Hazel Davidson of Antlers, OK and Myrtle Henderson and her husband Arliss of Elgin, OK, nine grandchildren, Tammy, Dearl, Charlie, Billy, Mandy, Jamie, Truman, Phillip, Jamie Don and twelve great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Elmer, Buster, J.C. and J.W.
