CLIFFORD R. KREUTZIGER

HOOKER, Okla. -- Clifford R. Kreutziger, 94, died Friday, July 25, 2003 at Wheatridge Park Center in Liberal.

He was born on June 28, 1909, to Clarence and Edith Phillips Kreutziger in Larned.

He married Rosalie Lucille Hill June 25, 1939 in Hooker. She died Feb. 24, 2001.

He and his wife farmed in Hooker their entire lives together. He first moved to Hooker in 1917. He moved to Monrovia, Calif in 1921. He graduated from Monrovia High School in 1928, returning to Hooker in 1930.

He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Hooker, where he was on the church board, served as treasurer and taught Sunday school. He was on the Texas County Farm Bureau Board, where he served in many offices. He was the superintendent of livestock at the Texas County Fair.

Survivors include one son, Emmit K. Kreutziger and wife, Rita, Davidson, Okla.; one daughter, Loretta Hobbler and husband, Kenny, Hooker; one brother, Harlan Kreutziger and wife, Ruth, Dumas, Texas; five grandchildren, Karla Huxman and husband, Todd, Hooker, Troy Hoobler, Okarche, Okla., Nathan Kreutziger, Davidson, Okla., Myka Rodriguez and husband, David, Davidson, Okla., Rachel Morris and husband, Troy, Lawton, Okla.; eight great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Nick and Cody Huxman, Leandrea and Ashley Hoobler, Alyssa Ramirez, Rileigh Morris and Wyatt Rodriguez.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ray.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 27 at the Church of the Nazarene in Hooker, Okla. with the Rev. David Hoffman presiding.

Burial was at the Hooker Cemetery in Hooker.

Memorials are suggested to the Nazarene Church Family Life Center or the Luann Fischer Memorial Swimming Pool Fund in care of Roberts Brothers Funeral home, Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.

TONY DON COMPTON

FORGAN, Okla. ญญ Tony Don Compton, 65, died Saturday, July 26, 2003, in Pueblo, Colo.

He was born July 1, 1938, to James Edgar and Myrtle Irene (Hitchcock) Compton near Turpin, Okla.

He married Lee Skinner on April 6, 1981 in Beaver, Okla. She survives.

He was a thoroughbred horse trainer.

Others survivors include two sons, Anthony Joe Compton, Daytona Beach, Fla. and Steve Austin, Hooker, Okla.; one daughter, Paige Gray, Pueblo West, Colo.; one brother, Joe Compton, Beaver, Okla.; six grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Forgan Methodist Church in Forgan, Okla. with George Saunders presiding.

Burial will be at the Forgan Cemetery in Forgan, Okla. under the direction of Clark Funeral Service, in Beaver, Okla.

FRED DEAN SIPE

TONKAWA, Okla. -- Fred Dean Sipe, 87, Tonkawa, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003.

He was born April 3, l9l6 to Fredrick Dean and Margaret (Scott) Sipe in Tonkawa.

He married Marjorie Jones July l, l936 in Medford, Okla. She preceded him in death.

He graduated from high school in Tonkawa, attending N.O.C. from l933 to l936. He went to Canton, Ohio to attend Lincoln Welding School and then taught at NYA Welding School in Ardmore, Okla. He returned to Tonkawa to open a welding shop. When his father died, he became owner of the Tonkawa OTASCO store. He taught welding at night at NOC for many years. Later he moved to Liberal where he taught welding at the Vo-Tech for l5 years. Upon retirement he returned to Tonkawa. He served in World War II.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Retired Volunteer Firemen's Association inTonkawa. He was a 32nd Degree Mason in the Tonkawa Masonic Lodge and a retired teacher.

Survivors include three sons, Fred Dean, Mazatlan, Mexico, Ted R. and wife, Susan, Holton and Tom L. and wife, Pat, Ponca City, Okla.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert; and one sister, Mary Powell.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Tonkawa with the Rev. Mike Brannon presiding.

Burial will follow at the Tonkawa I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Masonic Rites.

Memorials are suggested to the Tonkawa United Methodist Church, 410 East Grand, Tonkawa, OK 74653.

DWAYNE ELLIS FREEMAN

ROSSTON, Okla. -- Dwayne Ellis Freeman, 72, Rosston, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at Harper County Community Hospital in Buffalo, Okla.

He was born July 6, 1931, to Glenn Ellis and Nellie Mae (Lowder) Freeman in Clinton, Okla.

He married Margaret Mae Snell Sept. 28, 1952, west of Buffalo. She survives.

He was the co-owner of General, Inc. in Laverne, Okla. He was a farmer, rancher and contract pumper. He served in the United States Marines, and he graduated from Rosston High School in 1951.

He was a member of the Church of Christ in Laverne, Okla.

Survivors also include two sons, Steve Freeman and wife, Pam, Alva, Okla., and Dwight Freeman and wife, Georgia, Laverne, Okla.; and one daughter, Melody Jo Puffinbarger and husband, Monte, Camargo, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ in Laverne, Okla. with the Rev. David Hamlin presiding.

Burial will be at the Laverne Memorial Cemetery in Laverne.

Friends may call at Myatt-Seeger Funeral Home in Laverne from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to Laverne Ambulance, Laverne Fire Dept. or Laverne Church of Christ in care of Myatt-Seeger Funeral Home, Box 909, Laverne, OK 73848.

CHESTER H. SMITH

Chester H. Smith, 90, Turpin, Okla., died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born Feb. 3, 1913, to Nestor M. and Emily S. (Staker) Smith in Alfalfa County, Okla.

He married Grace I. Ward on May 8, 1935, in Denver, Colo. She survives.

He came to the Turpin-Greenough community in 1913. He graduated from Greenough High School in 1932 and moved to Denver, Colo. where he worked as a motor electrician for the Gates Rubber Company. He farmed several years and was a heating plant installer. He retired in 1970 and returned to Turpin, Okla.

He was a member of the Church of Christ in Liberal.

Other survivors include two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Smith, Turpin, Okla., and Dorene Smith, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ in Liberal with the Reverend Perry Odell presiding.

Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Liberal.

Friends may call at Miller Mortuary until 8 p.m. Friday.

The family suggests that memorials be sent to the Tipton Children's Home in care of Miller Mortuary.

VIRGINIA MAY CANTRELL

HOOKER, Okla. ญญ Virgina May Cantrell, 81, Hooker, Okla., died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon, Okla.

The only child of Alfred D. and Leda M. Brown, (nee Floyd), Virginia May Brown was born Nov. 8, 1921, in the Floyd family home at 501 Jeut Ave. (now "C" Ave.) in Beaver, Okla. Virginia served in the United States Navy during World War 2 with service in Asiatic-Pacific Theater.

Immediately following WW2, Virginia married Donald D. Cantrell in 1948. The couple made their home south of Turpin until moving to Hooker in the early 1950's.

Upon the death of her husband, Donald, in July of 1964, Virginia received a presidential appointment as "Postmaster" for Hooker, Okla. Virginia continued to serve as "Postmaster" until her retirement in 1982. From and since herr retirement from the United States Post Office Department, Virginia M. Cantrell resided in Hooker, Okla.

A past member of the Order of Eastern Star, P.O.E., Traveler's Club, Garden Club and the American Legion; Virginia was also a communicate of the United Methodist Church of Hooker.

Predeceased by two sons, Donald D. Cantrell Jr., in 1950 and Alfred Charles (Chuck) Cantrell in 1991.

Virginia is survived by her son, Mark Lea Cantrell and his wife Phyllis Cantrell of Canadian County, Okla.; grandsons, Zachary LaMarr Hines and fiance Melissa DeVane of Oklahoma City, Okla., Jeffery C. and Heidi Hines of Pensacola, Florida, Donald L.P.E. Cantrell of Canadian County, Okla.; grandaughter, S. Houston Gunn Cantrell of Canadian County, Okla.; cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Levertt Floyd of Beaver, Okla.; Mr. Robert Floyd and family of Hugoton; nephews, Leslie J. Lynch and wife, Jenny of Turpin, Okla.; great nieces Sarah and Rebecca Lynch of Turpin, Okla.; nieces, Jennifer L. Lynch of Rolla, Mo., Adriene Ann Boeck of Portland, Ore., Angela Beth Clerk and husband Taylor Clerk; great-nephew, George Clerk and great-neice, Maigread Clark of Seattle, Wash.; great-neice, Anna Boeck and fiance, Tyrone Wagner of Seattle, Wash.; brother-in-law, Clefton Lynch of Guymon, Okla. Virginia M. Cantrell is survived as well by her friend Miss Cornelia Maynard of Hooker, Okla.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at the United Methodist Church in Hooker, Okla. with the Reverend Rick Trobaugh officiating.

Interment will be at the Pioneer Cemetery, Beaver, Okla.

Those wishing to, may give memorials to the Olive Warner Memorial Library, leaving them at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, OK, 73945.

LOIS H. BAKER

HOOKER, Okla. -- Lois H. Baker, 95 of Hooker, Okla., died Tuesday in Pioneer Manor in Hugoton.

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced later by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker.

GEORGE KRUG

GROVE, Okla ญญ George Krug, 74, died Saturday, August 23, 2003, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo.

He was born Nov. 25, 1928, to Charles Krug and Clara Moyer Krug in Atlanta, Ga.

He married Ann Thomas March 19, 1955, in Newirk, Okla. She survives.

He graduated from Atlanta High School in Atlanta, Ga., and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for Cities Service Gas Company for over 36 years in their communications department.

He was an honorary lifetime member of the Elks Lodge, a member of the American Legion, Moose Club and Hooker United Methodist Church.

Other survivors include, one son,Gregg Krugg and his wife, Karen, Skiatook, Okla.; one daughter, Debbie Butler and her husband, Charlie, Hooker, Okla.; grandchildren, Angela Yarbrough and her husband Eric, Austin Krug, Cristin Butler, and Chandler Krug; step-grandchildren, Kerri Parker and her husband, Jeremy, Brenda McMichael and her husband, Rick, Shanon Butler and his wife Natalie; four great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Bud Thomas, Bernice, Okla.; sister-in-law, Jean Kay Ogden, Wichita; cousins, Martha Lovell, Tulsa, Okla. and Bonnie Stramel, Wichita.

Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Cayuga Mission Church of Grove in Grove, Okla. with Dana Calef presiding.

Memorials are suggested to the Alias Santa or the Cayuga Mission Church in care of Parker Mortuary, 1502 S. Joplin, MO 64804.
