LOY E. KELLAR

TYRONE, Okla. ­ Loy E. Kellar, Sr., 55, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at his home in Tyrone, Okla., following an extended illness.

He was born Jan. 23, 1949, to Loy E. and Elizabeth McCaully Kellar in Fayetteville, Ark.

He married Sue Thomas on April 4, 1966, in Stilwell, Okla. She survives.

He began a life career in heating and air conditioning in Kansas City, Mo. He moved to Liberal in 1969 and started working at Smith & Edwards. He started Four Seasons Plumbing and Heating in 1980, which he operated until the present.

He was a member of the Fargo Lodge No. 300, Wichita Consistory and the Shrine, and was a Boy Scout Leader for many years in Tyrone.

Other survivors include two sons, Loy E. Kellar, Jr. and wife Maria, Tyrone, Okla. and Jacob Kellar, Tyrone, Okla.; three daughters, Tammy Roesner and husband Darrin, Tulsa, Okla., LeAnn Wariner, Tecumseh, Okla., and Angela Parada and husband Manuel, Tulsa, Okla.; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Bill Kellar and wife Dorothy, Kansas City, Mo.; and two sisters, Betty Drake, Harrison, Ark., and Royce George, Hot Springs, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Miller Chapel with Dr. Ollie Kinser presiding.

Friends may call from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday and from 8 a.m. until service time Friday at Miller Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to the Loy E. Kellar Memorial Fund in care of the Community Bank or Miller Mortuary.

J.M. GAMBLE

ELK CITY, Okla. ­ J.M. Gamble, 89, died July 25, 2004, in Elk City, Okla.

He was born Sept. 27, 1914, to Lela Ellen and John Emory Gamble in Sunny Point, Okla.

He married Eunice Males May14, 1938, in Weatherford, Okla. She preceded him in death.

He graduated from Sweetwater. He continued his education at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Okla.

He taught and coached for 10 years at New Liberty and Bulo and then concentrated on farming and ranching, which he also did while teaching.

He was a member of the Erick, Okla., First Baptist Church, where he served for 50 years as the Sunday school director and also served many years as a deacon.

J.M. and Eunice were recognized as Farm Bureau Family of the Year in 1986. In 1987, he received the Golden Eagle Award for recognition as Oklahoma Farm Bureau's top volunteer membership recruiter.

He also served on the board of directors of the Beckham County Farm Bureau.

In 1995, he was recognized by the directors and employees of the First American Bank of Erick for 20 years of service to the bank and surrounding community.

He was also an honorary chapter farmer of the Erick FFA and a life member of the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Alumni Association.

Survivors include one son, Marvin Gamble and wife Marlene, Tyrone, Okla.; one daughter, Mary Ellen Driscoll, Idalou, Texas; six grandchildren, Terry Driscoll, Susan Hess, Paul Driscoll, John Gamble, Danyelle Gamble-Noland and Andrea Chapman; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Melvin Gamble, Erick, Okla.; and many other relatives.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.

Services were at 1 p.m., today at Erick First Baptist Church with Charlie Floyd presiding.

Burial will be at Erick Cemetery under the direction of Fatheree-Alber Funeral Home.

A memorial trust fund was set up for the Erick High School at First American Bank, Box 1228, Erick, OK 73645.

DOROTHY L. HARFORD

BEAVER, Okla. ­ Dorothy Louise Harford, 79, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at her residence in Beaver, Okla.

She was born Oct. 2, 1924, to Raleigh and Hazel Eva (Baird) Dailey in Wapello County, Iowa.

She married Kenneth Harford on Feb. 8, 1943. He died March 11, 1971.

She was a homemaker all her life.

Survivors include two daughters, Lou Ann Perkins, Owasso, Okla., and Shelley Cooper, Tyrone, Okla.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, James Dailey, Eldon, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday at Pioneer Cemetery with Kent Perkins presiding.

Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery.

LARRY C. MCATEE

LAVERNE, Okla. ­ Larry "Chris" McAtee, 49, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Western Regional Medical Complex in Dodge City.

He was born April 26, 1955, to Charles Everett and Betty Ann (Maphet) McAtee in Shattuck, Okla.

He married Gayla Jolene Griffin on Aug. 19, 1973, in Seiling, Okla. She survives.

He attended Rosston schools, then Laverne schools, graduating in 1973. He then went to Panhandle State College in Goodwell, Okla.

He was a former ANR employee at Laverne as a pipeline mechanic.

He was a member of United Methodist Church, Laverne.

Other survivors include three sons, Dustin McAtee and wife Amber, Laverne, Brant McAtee and wife Earin, Laverne, and Cory McAtee, Laverne; one grandson, Jarrett Wade; his mother, Betty Lively, Rosston, Okla.; his grandfather, Everett Maphet, Rosston; and two sisters, Janet Bowen and husband Larry, Woodward, Okla., and Vicki Hecox and husband Steve, Liberal.

He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents and stepfather, L. B. Lively.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday at First Baptist Church in Laverne with the Rev. Gaylon Cox and the Rev. Larry Bowen presiding.

Burial will be at Gate Cemetery in Gate, Okla.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m., today and Thursday at Myatt-Seeger Funeral Home in Laverne.

Memorials are suggested to the Chris McAtee Memorial Fund in care of Myatt-Seeger Funeral Home, P.O. Box 909, Laverne, OK, 73848.

LEOTA MAE STRICKLAND

FORGAN, Okla. ­ Leota Mae Strickland passed away August 6, 2004 at the age of 73. She was born on Nov. 11, 1930 in Forgan, Okla., to parents Leo Edgar Neaville and Lonnie Victoria (Hodges) Neaville. Leota was married to Glenn Dale Strickland and together raised a happy family. In her spare time, she loved to play games and was an excellent crotchetier. Leota was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed but never forgotten. She is preceded in death by her husband Glenn and her parents. Leota leaves lasting memories with her sons Randy Joe Strickland, Eddie Leo Strickland; step-son, Charles Glenn Strickland; daughter, Vickie Blaylock; brothers, William Neaville & Bryce Neaville; sister, Rita Ogilvie; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

PAUL D. HENDRICK

LAVERNE, Okla. ­ Paul Dean Hendrick, 59, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at his home north of Laverne, Okla.

He was born March 26, 1945, to Asa and Gladys (Williams) Hendrick in Woodward, Okla.

He married Peggy Ann Hall on July 25, 1965, in Perryton, Texas. She survives.

He graduated from Laverne High School in 1963 and later graduated with a carpenter degree from Okmulgee Technical College.

He was a farmer and stockman. He worked for C.I.G. Gas Company and for Keiser-Francis Gas Company.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 until 1972.

He was a member of Shattuck Church of Christ and the Laverne American Legion.

Other survivors include one son, Mikel Hendrick and wife Pam, Amarillo, Texas; one daughter, Misty Miller and husband Ronnie, Laverne, Okla.; three grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; two brothers, Rex Hendrick and wife Luz, Laverne, Okla., and Ray Hendrick and wife Margarett, Laverne, Okla.; and one sister, Carol Hoch and husband Roy, Laverne, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Laverne, with ministers Wayland Whitlow and Harold Gardner presiding.

Burial will be at Cline Cemetery, northwest of Laverne. Military graveside rites will be held by the Laverne/Buffalo, Okla., American Legion.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesday at Myatt-Seeger Funeral Home in Laverne.

Memorials are suggested to the Paul Hendrick Memorial Fund, the Shattuck Church of Christ or the Laverne American Legion in care of Myatt-Seeger Funeral Home, P.O. Box 909, Laverne, OK, 73848.

EDGAR H. NEWBY

GATE, Okla. ­ Edgar Herbert Newby, 76, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at his home near Gate, Okla.

He was born Aug. 17, 1927, to Emra Lee and Martha Elizabeth (Harvey) Newby near Gate.

He married Ruby Iva Bowers on Aug. 13, 1950, at Gate. She survives.

He graduated from Gate Schools in 1946 and later attended college at Friends University in Wichita.

He was a farmer/rancher.

He was a member of Gate Friends Church, Gate Fire Department and the American Quarter Horse Association.

Other survivors include three sons, Jimmy Lee Newby and wife Linda, Edmond, Okla., Danny Ray Newby and wife Earlene, Gate, Okla., and Tommy Lynn Newby and wife Robin, Enid, Okla.; one son-in-law, Max Elwood, Mooreland, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, Ronald Newby, Arvada, Colo., Gary Newby, Beaver, Okla., Bruce Newby, Oklahoma City, and Roger Newby, Oklahoma City; and five sisters, Vivian Fleming, Wichita, Evelyn Bell, Jerseyville, Ill., Helen Gray, Graham, Texas, Carolyn Barnett, Erie, Colo., and Marilyn Sulak, Guigon, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Linda Jo Elwood, two brothers, Cecil Newby and Max Newby, and one sister, Pearl Pruitt.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. today at Gate Friends Church with the Rev. Lyle Whiteman and the Rev. Bruce Newby presiding.

Burial was in Gate Cemetery..
