Bonnie Opal Dalton

Bonnie Opal Dalton, age 97, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2006 at English Village Manor in Altus.

She was born April 13,1909 in Creelsboro, Kentucky to S.J. Williams and Alice (Hadley) Williams.

On March 20, 1942 in Altus, Oklahoma Bonnie and Chester Ray Dalton were united in marriage. He preceded
her in death March 11, 1982.

She was a homemaker and farming partner with her husband Ray for many years. Bonnie was a devoted
mother to her children and was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Altus.

She is survived by two sons, Don Dalton of Chipley, Florida and Doug Dalton and wife Earnesteen of Altus.
She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and eight brothers and sisters.

Graveside services for Bonnie Dalton are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at the Altus
City Cemetery with Rev. Jim Brown officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Darby

Hazel Inez Darby, 95, of Altus, passed away at her home Wednesday, December 10, 2008.

Hazel was born January 1, 1913, in Duke, Oklahoma, to Frank and Eula (Evins) Marshall. She graduated
from Duke High School in 1930 and later attended Southwestern State College for one year.

Hazel married H.R. “Tad” Darby September 2, 1934, in Hobart, Oklahoma. She worked as a bookkeeper at
Darby’s Furniture Store in Duke for over sixty years. She retired after the death of her husband Tad on July 19,
1996.

Hazel and Tad moved to Altus in the late 1960’s. She was the founding member of the Duke Wednesday
Club. Hazel was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Duke.

She is survived by one brother, Don Marshall of Altus; ten nephews, Matt Marshall, Luke Marshall, Frank
Marshall, Rex Marshall, Jon Darby, Robert “Bob” Darby, Ken Darby, Richard Darby, Gregory Glenn, and Mark
Glenn.

Her parents; her husband; one son, Steven Marshall Darby on March 1, 2001, and one brother, James
“Speedy” Marshall, preceded Hazel in death.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2008, at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Ralph Chapman
officiating. Interment will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in
Altus.

HOWARD DARBY

Howard Darby went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 12, 2007. A lifetime resident of Duke, he
was born to Benjamin E. Darby and Anna Olphelia (Presley) Darby on January 18, 1913. He was the oldest of
four children.

Howard was a graduate of Duke High School where he was the last member of the former Fighting Tigers
football team of 1931. He loved playing football and has spent many years being a spectator of the game. It gave
him much joy and pride when the revival of football came back to the school system several years ago.

After high school he attended Cameron University and Business School in Oklahoma City. He then met Mary
Alice Speck and on January 24, 1934, they eloped to Hobart, OK.

When first married, he worked for the State Highway Department and built many roads in the eastern part of
the state. They moved back to Duke and had a grocery store from 1940 to 1945. In 1945 Howard joined the
family business with his dad B.E. and his younger brother H.R. (Tad) Darby at Darby’s Big Furniture. He also
served as the county tag agent for many years. He enjoyed his family and loved working everyday with his parents,
brothers, son, grandsons and nephews over the years. He also enjoyed his cattle and farming operation.

Howard was life long member of First Baptist Church, Duke. He served on and off for 40 years as the music
minister. He was a Mason. He was a member of the Altus Elks Lodge and Country Club. He loved playing golf
and fellowship with his golfing buddies.

He liked to spend time with his grandkids. He was at all their sporting activities and loved to take them to
Dallas Cowboy football games.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one sister and brother-in-law, Lloyd and Vernone
Darby Glenn; two brothers, H.R. “Tad” Darby and Lloyd Blake Darby; and one nephew, Steven M. Darby.

He is survived by one son, Jon David Darby and wife Kathy of Duke; three grandchildren, Kristin Medders
and husband Darren, Blake Darby and wife Kathy, all of Altus, and David Darby of Norman; five great-
grandchildren, Darby and Raegan Medders and Katie Beth, Maggie, and Isabella Darby, all of Altus; four sisters-in-
law, Hazel Darby of Altus, Patsy Darby of Duke, Sylvia Vessels of Oklahoma City, and Dorris Johnson of Altus;
and by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 14, 2007, at First Baptist Church
of Duke with Reverend Ralph Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the
direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

The Family will receive guests from 6:00 until 8 pm on Tuesday evening at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Memorials can be make to First Baptist Church of Duke.

Mary Alice Darby
Mary Alice Darby passed away June 26, 2005 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Mary Alice Speck is the first of seven children of former State Senator Burr Speck and Flossie Kauffman Speck, born
October 6, 1913 in Rule, Texas.

She attended grade school in Prairie Hill and graduated from Altus. In school she was a member of Glee Club and
played for many school programs.

On January 24, 1934 Mary eloped with Howard Preston Darby of Duke. They have been in the business
community of Southwest Oklahoma since that time. They owned a grocery store, tag agency and joined the family
furniture business in 1948. Mary was a very accomplished musician and taught piano lessons for 25 years. For many
years, she judged preliminary pageants all around Oklahoma for the Miss America Organization. She was a Founding
Member of the Wednesday Club and Towne and Country Club. Mary loved to play bridge and was a member of
Vogets Bridge Club.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Duke where she played the piano and was organist for over
60 years.

Mary was preceeded in death by her parents; two brothers, Morris and Burton Speck; two sisters, Lucille Speck
and Mildred Ludrick Benson; brothers-in-law, Bill Warner, Jack Ludrick, Lloyd Darby and Tad Darby; and
sister-in-law, Verone Darby Glenn.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Howard Darby of the home; one son, Jon David Darby and wife
Kathy of Duke; granddaughter, Kristi Medders and husband Darren of Altus; grandsons, Blake Darby and wife Kathy,
also of Altus and David Darby of Norman; five great-granddaughters, Darby Allyson and Raegan Katherine Medders,
Katie Beth, Mary Margaret (Maggie), and Isabella Grace Darby, all of Altus; two sisters, Sylvia Vessels of Oklahoma
City and Doris Johnson of Altus; three sisters-in-law, Lamoin Speck and Hazel Darby of Altus and Patsy Darby of
Duke; and by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins and friends. Everyone whose lives she touched will miss her
deeply.

DARDEN

Shann Michael Darden, age 33, of Mangum, passed away late Monday evening, June 18, 2009, at Jackson
County Memorial Hospital after a hard battle with cancer.

Shann was born on June 5, 1976, in Boise, Idaho to Freddie Ray and Virginia Ann (Sampson) Darden.
Moving to Mangum at the age of four, he loved fishing, playing videos and anything to do with Star Wars.

Preceded in death by his great grandfathers, Toney Johnson and Cliff Willis; great grandmother, Vera Johnson;
grandmother, Dorothy McNutt Beal; grandfathers, Bill McNutt and Cecil C. Sampson, he is survived by his
wife, Amy (Beal) Darden; two daughters, Stormie Shanelle Darden and Mysteria Jewel Darden of Mangum;
his mother, Virginia Sampson of Mesquite, Texas; his step-father, Bill Brown and wife Marie of Tulsa; one
sister, Shawna Malone of Mesquite, Texas; one brother, Tony Gilley and wife Doreen of Oklahoma City;
grandparents, Sam and Janice Brown of Mangum; his mother and father-in-law, Jr. and Ruth Beal of Mangum
along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.

A memorial service for Shann Michael Darden will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2009, at The Church
Triumphant with Rev. Tom McNutt and Pastor Shawn Johnson officiating. Cremation arrangements are under
the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.

Horace William Dark

Horace William Dark, age 92, of Altus, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2003 at English Village Manor in Altus.
Services are set for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev.
Kevin George will officiate and interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery.
Horace was born to W.A. and Lela Dark on February 6, 1911 at Hennypen, Oklahoma, in Garvin County. He was
united in marriage to Opal Blanscet on December 31, 1933 at Hobart, Oklahoma. He farmed for many years north of
Hobart. Horace also did some building and selling of real estate in the Hobart area. For several years, Horace and
Opal lived in Oklahoma City, but after retirement moved to Altus. He was affiliated with the Baptist Faith for many
years. Horace was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; two sisters; and one son, Jerry. He is survived by
his devoted wife, Opal of 69 years, two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Bowen and Dwane of Altus; Cleda
Strehlow and Louis of Alba, Texas; three brothers, Howard of Oklahoma City, Orbie of Hobart, Lloyd of Ft. Worth,
Texas; seven grandsons; thirteen great grandchildren; one great great grandson and many other relatives and friends

Opal Mae Dark

Opal Mae Dark, age 92, of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at English Village Manor.
She was born January 19, 1916 in Hex, Oklahoma in Beckham County to John S. Blanscet and Rosa (Ford)
Blanscet.
On December 31, 1933 in Hobart, Oklahoma Opal and Horace Dark were united in marriage. To this union three
children were born. Horace preceded Opal in death on February 8, 2003. For several years Opal and Horace
lived in Oklahoma City, but after retirement they moved back to Altus.
She was a wonderful mother and homemaker. Opal loved cooking, sewing, vegetable gardening and tending to her
beautiful flower gardens.
She was affiliated with the Baptist faith.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law; Mary and Duane Bowen of Altus, Oklahoma, Cleda and Louis
Strehlow of Alba,Texas; three sisters Rozelle Wale of Amarillo, Texas,Joy Lou Long of Pueblo, Colorado, and
Imogene Glasscock of Moscow,Idaho. She is also survived by six grandsons, thirteen great-grandchildren and three
great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Jerry Dark, one brother, one half sister, and a
grandson Terry Bowen.
Celebration of Life Service for Opal Mae Dark is scheduled for Friday, June 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the
Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Louis Strehlow officiating.
The family of Opal Mae Dark will greet friends Thursday evening June 26, 2008 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at
Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

PATRISHA RENAE DAUGHERTY

Patrisha Renae Daugherty, age 55, passed away Monday, November 29, 2004 at Jackson County Memorial
Hospital. Patricia was born December 1, 1948, at Hollis Oklahoma to Sam and Ora Mae (Johnson) Hopkins.

On November 9, 1985, Patrisha married Thomas Wayne Daugherty at the First Assembly of God Church in Altus.
Patrisha was a homemaker and was very active with her church, Glad Tidings Assembly of God, where she
participated in the missionary’s and women’s ministries.

Patrisha was preceded in death by her grandparents and a very special cousin, Jackie Hubbard. She is survived by
her husband, Tom of the home in Altus, Oklahoma; mother, Ora Mae Hopkins of Altus, Oklahoma; two daughters,
Sheila Ann Culbertson and husband Jeff of Windsor, Missouri and Tiara Taylor and husband Eugene Brown of
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and two grandsons; Jeff Culbertson and Taylor Scott Culbertson of Windsor, Missouri.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 2, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church with
Reverend John Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home.

Family will greet friends Wednesday evening, December 1, 2004 from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral
Home.

DAVIES

Claudia Ursula Elisabeth Davies, age 53, of Altus, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2007, at Comanche County
Memorial Hospital in Lawton.

Claudia was born on December 5, 1953, in Darmstadt, Germany to Daniel and Ursula (Fischinger) Davies. With her
dad being assigned to Altus Air Force Base, she moved to Altus at age sixteen and later graduated from Altus High
School. She continued her education at Cameron University where she graduated from nursing school and spent
several years working at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Being of the Episcopal faith, Claudia loved working
with and helping people. An avid OU Sooner fan, she was dedicated to her family and loved spending time with
them and most recently had worked with her sister, Jayne, who owns JC’s Grille in Hollis.

Preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Mark Elton Ware, she is survived by one daughter, Locklin
Davies of Altus; two sisters, Jayne Stover and husband Perry of Mangum and Tracy Rogers and husband Darrel of
Altus; one brother, Dan Davies and wife Raquel of San Diego, California; six special nieces and nephews, Jeff
Warren, Cassie Anderson-Stover, Chris Stover, Jason Stover, Morgan Rogers and Jackie Pido; seven great nieces
and nephews Aspen, Maci, Adison, Andrew, Brent, Traye, and Beau, along with many other relatives and a host of
friends who loved her dearly.

Funeral services for Claudia Ursula Elisabeth Davies will be held at 4 p.m., Monday, May 21, 2007, at Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Farr officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the
direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

The family will greet friends on Sunday, May 20, 2007 from 5 until 6 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to First State Bank in memory of Claudia Davies.

Charles Barry Davis

Barry Davis, age 63 of Blair, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at Jackson County Memorial
Hospital.

He was born September 28, 1941 in Hobart, Oklahoma to Charles W. and Opal (McElroy) Davis. Barry
graduated Blair High School in 1960. After graduating high school he entered the United States Army in 1966 where
he served a tour of duty in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1968. He worked in steel construction and
owned and operated a welding shop in Blair for several years.

Barry graduated from WOSC in 1976 and furthered his education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University
at Weatherford, Oklahoma. He received a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Arts Education in 1981 and later received
his Masters Degree from SWOSU.

On June 4, 1961 Barry and Mary Jo Butchee were united in marriage at the First Baptist Church in Blair,
Oklahoma. Where they have spent many wonderful years together.

He taught at Cashion Public Schools for one year before returning to Blair,Oklahoma. In 1982 he implemented
and taught the industrial education program at WOSC retiring in 2002. He took over the Rodeo program at WOSC
in the mid 1980’s, and was a coach and mentor to many students. Over the years he coached twenty-three
championships either students at WOSC or students that had been through the program. He served for six years as
Central Plains Regional Faculty Director. He served as National President for two terms and served as a National
Faculty Board Member for four years.

After retirement Barry had many hobbies he enjoyed including working at the farm, “ Rodeos” his family and
his special time with his grandchildren. He always put himself last so he could do first for others. Barry was a longtime
member of the First Baptist Church of Blair, Oklahoma.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Jo Davis of the home in Blair, Oklahoma, two daughters; Anita Lee
Martinez and her husband Adolfo of Blair, Oklahoma, Tara Jo Davis of Blair, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his
mother Opal Davis of Blair, Oklahoma; his grandchildren Morgan Danielle Martinez, Mitchell Chase Martinez, and
Ayden Davis Lee Stewart all of Blair; one brother Rick Davis and his wife Jan of Blair, Oklahoma, Brother-in-law
John Butchee and wife Linda of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, sister-in-law Iverna Kennedy and husband Pat of
Warren, Oklahoma; and a host of other relatives many, many friends and colleagues.

He is preceded in death by his father Charles William Davis, mother-in-law and father-in-law Charles and Anita
Butchee, brother-in-law Dee Butchee.

Funeral Service for Barry Davis is scheduled for Thursday, March 31,2005 at 3:00 P.M. at Lowell-Tims Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Mitchell and Dale Hirschman officiating. Interment will follow at the Warren
Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Western Oklahoma State College Rodeo Team Scholarship Fund or Blair First
Baptist Church Youth Group in memory of Barry Davis.
