DRAKE

Katherine Laura Drake, age 86, of Altus, passed away Friday, April 7, 2006, at English Village Nursing Home in Altus.

Mrs. Drake was born on October 15, 1919, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Samuel G. and Cora Jane (Taber) Wisdom and married Glen Drake, Sr. on November 30, 1937, in Lawton. Mrs. Drake spent most of her life as a homemaker, raising her children and caring for her husband, whom she dearly loved. She moved from Burkburnett, Texas, to Altus in 1993, and was a member of the Assembly of God Church and the Order of Eastern Star.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glen Drake, Sr., her daughter-in-law, Karen Drake, a grandson, Glen H. Drake III, five brothers and four sisters, she is survived by two sons, Bennie Drake and wife Joan of Blair and Glen H. Drake, Jr. and wife, Mary Sue of Burkburnett, Texas; grandchildren, Valynda Hall and husband Derl of Lawton, Kathleen Mason of St. Louis, Missouri, and Laura Harrelson and husband Dirk of Lake Charles, Louisiana; one sister, Leta Faye Terry of Wichita Falls, Texas, along with a host of other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Katherine Drake will be Monday, April 10 at 2 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Richard Ventonis officiating. Internment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

The family of Katherine Drake will greet friends at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, April 9, 2006, from 6 until 8 p.m.

Jack Draper

Jack Draper, age 87, a long-time resident of Blair, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2008 in Altus.

Jack was born in Reed, Oklahoma on February 21, 1921 to Robert Lee and Bertha Irene (McAlister) Draper. In 1942 he joined the United States Navy and on November 9, 1943 he married Ethel Louise Craig in Vallejo, California and they were married for over 57 years before Ethel passed away in 2000. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy,

Jack worked as a painter for the Civil Service for 27 years in Garden Grove, California and then moved back home to Blair. He enjoyed gardening, working with his pecan trees and farming, and he loved dancing and going to local musicals. Jack really enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and his grandkids, especially his 11 great granddaughters. Jack loved his church and his family and he will be missed very much.

Preceded in death by his wife Ethel; one son Ken Draper; one brother, Thomas Draper; and one sister, Bessie Brewster; Jack is survived by two daughters, Vicki Witter of Blair; Janet Ferguson and her husband John of Altus; Six grandchildren, Steven Witter of Blair; Robert Draper and his wife Julie of California; John Draper and his wife Karen of Blair; Brian Draper of California; Aaron Ferguson and his wife Beth of Altus; Aimee Ferguson of Altus; eleven great granddaughters, Brenna, Amanda, Alysa, Cassadi, Sara, Brooke, Cherish, Kadee, Emma, Hanna, Kayla; and numerous other relatives and many friends.

Services for Jack Draper will be on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Blair with Reverend George Lupton officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims funeral Home.

Donnie Ray Duley

Donnie Ray Duley, age 64, passed away Friday, December 9, 2005 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.

He was born February 8, 1941, to Walter Duley and Addie Nation in Altus, Oklahoma.

Donnie served in the United States Navy, he was an Altus Fireman and a Construction work and a handy man. He loved to hang out at the Friendship Inn to have coffee and to visit with his friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bobby and Jerry Duley.

Donnie is survived by two daughters, Johanna Rae Duley of Yukon, Oklahoma and Jamey Dawn Duley of Altus, Oklahoma and one granddaughter, Riley Ray Ruiz of Altus, Oklahoma.

Memorial Service will be held Thursday, December 15, 2005 at 2:00pm at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating.

Drury

Eva B Drury, 88, of Olustee, passed away at her home Wednesday, December 27, 2006. Eva was born October 10, 1918, to Newt and Essie Hestand in Chico, Texas. Her family moved to Jackson County in 1920 and they settled in the Harmony area. Eva married Lester H. Drury September 28, 1940, in Olustee, where they lived and worked together on the family farm. She also worked in sales at Gibson’s, Pride’s Meat Processing, and other local businesses. Eva was a member of the Elmer Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lester, her parents, Newt and Essie, three sisters, Ora, Maude, and Elmetta, three brothers, Charlie, Howard, and Vergil, and an infant great-grandson.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Charlyn Sue and Carlos Carrell of Olustee; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Wayne and Jan Drury of Altus; grandchildren, Cindy and Carlos Moellering of Olustee, Cheryl and David Harrod of Duke, Cary and Lynda Carrell of Olustee, and Jason Drury, also of Olustee; great-grandchildren, Amber Carrell of Olustee, Chesiree Sheehan and Brandon Puckett, Altus, and Cara Carrell, also of Altus; step-great-grandchildren, Samantha and Jason Card, Altus, Tommy Moellering, Alex Motheral, Kelli and Nicholas Wright, all of Olustee; one great-great-grandson, Anthony Basaldua, and two great-great-granddaughters, Rylee Puckett, and upon arrival, baby Makilynn Puckett; two step great-great-grandchildren, J.J. and Lily Card; one sister, Mable Barrow, and one brother, Leonard Hestand, both of Altus, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Olustee Cemetery Fund, c/o Faye Moody, 304 E. 6th, Olustee, OK 73560.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 30, 2006, at the Olustee Cemetery in Olustee, Oklahoma.

Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Drury

Hazel Drury, 81, of Altus, passed away suddenly Saturday, September 13, 2008, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.
Hazel was born October 5, 1926, in Mountain View, Oklahoma, to Almer and Willie (Jones) Colmer. She grew up in Mountain View, where she helped on the family farm. She graduated high school in Mountain View from a class of seven students and later graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford where she received her certificate for teaching in elementary education. Hazel married Francis L. Drury November 12, 1949, in Texas.
She taught school only a few years and then resigned so she could raise her four children. When her children were grown, she helped her husband in his real estate office in Altus. She was a faithful wife who nursed her husband through several illnesses, including cancer, heart disease, and strokes. He preceded her in death July 22, 1983.
Through the years, she and her family lived in Wichita Falls, Texas, Amarillo, Texas, Lake Charles, Louisiana, Little Rock, Arkansas, Del City, Oklahoma, Santa Rosa, California, and then settled in Altus in 1969. She was a faithful member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Altus.
She is survived by her children, Donna Williams and husband Carl of North Richland Hills, Texas, Michael Drury and wife Toni of Guadalupe, Arizona, Francis L. Drury, Jr. of Moore, Oklahoma, and Lucille Gwinn and husband John of Altus; thirteen grandchildren, Angela, Teresa, Katie, Melanie, Maria, Alicia, Jennifer, Ana, Teresa, Sara, Amanda, Jonathan, and Teddie Jo, and seven great-grandchildren, Aaron, Jennifer, Hugh, Samantha, Justin, Lily, and Michaela.
Her parents, husband, two sisters, and one brother preceded Hazel in death.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Prince of Peace Catholic Church or the charity of your choice.

A Vigil and Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 17 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church.

The Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2008, at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Altus. Interment will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Janie Bell Drury

Janie Bell (Dickerson) Drury age 86, of Olustee, passed away on December 13, 2004 in Altus, Oklahoma, Graveside services will be conducted at Boggy Cemetery, South of Olustee, Thursday, December 16, 2004 at 2:00 pm Under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Mrs. Drury was born January 22, 1918 to the late George and Leola (Robertson) Dickerson in Strewder (north of Gould) in Harmon County and attended school in McQueen.
Janie was a homemaker, she loved to sew but her passion was cooking, she cooked professionally for the Olustee Public School System, Jackson County Memorial Hospital and Furrs Cafeteria.
Janie was preceded in death by her husband Jasper Blane Drury, September 25, 2000, two daughters Peggy Ann Holly, April 21, 2003, Callie Studer, October 5, 2003, eight brothers: Claude, Pete, Zearl, Harris, Jesse, Bennie, George, Archie and three sister; Edna, Mary and Artie.
She is survived by two sons; Homer Cloyce Johnson of Wichita Falls, Texas, Blane Don and Laura Drury of Iowa Park, Texas and three daughters; Cecile Hogue and Bobby of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Hope Meyer and Mike of Sulphur, Oklahoma, Elaine Prater and Charles of Edmond, Oklahoma, fourteen grand children and fifteen great grand children, one sister, Inez Neely of Altus, Oklahoma, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Janie was a loving wife and a devoted mother and grandmother.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Alzheimer’s Research, C/O Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation 825 N.E. 13th St. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73104 in memory of Janie Bell Drury.

Elizabeth Rebecca Duck

Elizabeth Rebecca Duck, 77, of Altus, passed away Friday, November 14, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.

Becky was born November 13, 1926, in Pawnee, Oklahoma, to John Franklin and Alma May (Stearman) Owen.

Her family moved to the Roff Community near Ada in the early 1930’s. She was the oldest of nine children.

She moved to the Ozark Community in Jackson County in 1943 where she met and married Wilbur Bud Duck. She and her husband opened a gas station and grocery store east of Altus in 1952 which became known in later years as Duck’s Corner. She was also involved in farming for over 30 years. Becky was an active member of the Ozark Home Demonstration Club for many years. She was also a charter member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Altus.

Becky is survived by two sons, Jerry Duck and his wife Mary of Altus, and Lonnie Duck of Iowa Park, Texas; two sisters, Janice Clinton and her husband Larry, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Rose Gross of Amarillo, TX; four grandchildren, Peggy Clay of Altus, Jerry Wayne Duck of Oklahoma City, Toby Duck of Oxnard, California, and Mai Wilson of Sherman, Texas, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bud Duck in 1977, five brothers, Ralph Owen, Johnny Owen, Howard Owen, Leroy Owen, and Harold Owen, and one sister, Opal.

Jerry Keith Duke, Sr

Jerry Keith Duke, Sr., age 59, formerly of Altus, passed away Monday, August 25 at his home in Oklahoma City.

Jerry was born June 11, 1944, in Altus to Johnnie and Pearlenne (Neel) Duke. He married Kay Cowart February 19, 1971, in Altus. He was a diesel mechanic for over twenty years at the Ready Mix Concrete in Dallas, Texas. He also worked for Southwest Metal in Altus for eighteen years.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Kay Duke, of Oklahoma City; his mother, Pearlenne Duke, of Blair, Oklahoma; three children, Jerry Duke, Jr. and his wife Susan of Granbury, Texas, Kimberly McElhany and her husband Dan of Crockett, Texas, and Jeff Duke and his wife Toni of Oklahoma City; three brothers, Johnny Duke, Jr., Darrell Duke, and David Duke, all of Blair; one sister, Iola Earlenne Duke, also of Blair; five grandchildren, Jacob Duke and Emily Duke, both of Granbury, Texas, Zachery McElhany, Jarvis McElhany, and Christina McElhany, all of Crockett, Texas.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Duke, Sr., one brother, Kenneth Barnes, and one sister, Mary Katherine Duke.

THERE WILL BE A FAMILY VISITATION THURSDAY, AUGUST 28, FROM 6:00 TO 8:00 PM AT LOWELL-TIMS FUNERAL HOME. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 10:00 AM FRIDAY, AUGUST 29, AT THE VICTORY BAPTIST CHURCH IN ALTUS WITH REVEREND T.J. WILLINGHAM OFFICIATING. INTERMENT WILL FOLLOW AT WARREN Cemetery, WARREN, OKLAHOMA, EAST OF BLAIR UNDER THE DIRECTION OF LOWELL-TIMS FUNERAL HOME.

Twyla Maria Duke

Twyla Maria Duke, 37 of Olustee, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012, after a short illness.

Maria, as she was known to family and friends, was born July 21, 1974, in Oklahoma City to Doyle And Twyla (McVey) Sharp. She married Delbert Ray Duke, Jr. February 29, 2008, in Olustee.

Maria graduated from Harrah High School in 1993 and attended Platt College in Oklahoma City where she earned her Associate's Degree in Computer Technology.

She served four years in the National Guard, and for the past five years worked at Bar-S in Altus. Maria was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Harrah most of her life.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ray Duke, of the home in Olustee; four step-children, Misty Ford of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Michael Duke and wife D.J., Donald Duke and fiancée Kathy Graverholt, and Diana Duke and fiancé Brett Benivamondez, all of Altus; one brother, Virgil Sharp of Midwest City; step-grandchildren, Gary, Chelsea, Adriana, Abigail, Michael, Jr., Krista, Lilly, Bailey, Jade, Donald, Jr., Anna, and R.J.; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.

The family will hold a Memorial Service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012, at the home of Maria's Step daughter, Diana Duke, 812 N. Willard, Altus, Oklahoma, with Chaplain Mike Suiter officiating.

JAMES DUNCAN

James William Duncan, age 85 of Lawton and formerly of Altus, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton.

Mr. Duncan was born October 31, 1919 at Paris, Texas to Neal and Allie Campbell Duncan. James graduated from Porter High School, south of Altus, and attended OU for three years before entering the U.S. Army. After his discharge, James entered the work force with the Civil Service Corps of Engineers. After retiring from Civil Service, James began a ten year period of work with The Benham Group of Engineers in Oklahoma City.

On March 17, 1945, James married Geraldine (Gerry) Martha Gilbranson in Madison, Wisconson and she preceded him in death on June 15, 1992.

James enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Square Toppers and Square Dance Club where he served as president of the Lawton, Oklahoma group.

Mr. Duncan was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, James Allen Duncan and one sister, Jo Gregg.

James is survived by two daughters; Earlene Hubert and husband Leroy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Nancy Flowers and husband Ronnie of Lawton, Oklahoma; two sons, Ronnie Duncan and wife Susi of Anthony, Kansas and David Duncan of Dallas, Texas. He is also survived by one aunt, Stella Duncan of Altus, Oklahoma, ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Services will be held for James William Duncan on Sunday, December 26, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Chapel.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Nona Dyas

Nona Dyas, age 93 of Altus, passed away December 16, 2003 at the English Village Manor Nursing Home.
Graveside services, under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus, are set for Monday, December 22, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the Altus City Cemetery. The Rev. Bennie Alexander will officiate.

Nona was born May 5, 1910 at Houston, Texas. She was united in marriage to James Austin and they enjoyed many years of marriage. In 1997 Nona moved to Altus, to be closer to family. Nona was a member of the Baptist Denomination and enjoyed people. She also loved to clean and was an avid collector of dolls.

Nona was preceded in death by her husband, James Austin, her parents; one son, James Austin Sr. and one grandson, James Austin Jr. She is survived by one son, of Huntsville, Texas; three grandchildren, Paula Kennedy of Altus, Donna Scott of Oklahoma City, Marietta Josewki of Germany, twelve great grandchildren, thirteen great-great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
