Wanda Lee Ketchum Holdridge

Wanda Lee Ketchum Holdridge passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 18th in Austin, Texas, at the
age of 85. A long time resident of Oklahoma City and Altus, Wanda had blessed her daughter and her family by
permanently moving to Austin in August 2003. Wanda was a loving mother, grandmother, and
great-grandmother who was an inspiration to all of us with her independent and resilient attitude toward life, her
sense of humor and her commitment to family.
Wanda was born October 23, 1920, in Altus, Oklahoma, to Gus and Ethyle Ketchum. She married Curtis James
Holdridge June 26, 1943, in Altus. Their joyful union during the turbulent days of WWII was another link among
the Ketchums, Youngbloods, Holdridges, and Schnorrenbergs, who were old community family friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Holdridge in 1968, her parents Gus and Ethyle Ketchum, and
her parents-in-law Ben and Anna Holdridge.
She is survived by her brother Roy and his wife Aurea Ketchum, of Venezuela and their three children and their
families Denise Briseno, Roy Ketchum, and John David Ketchum; and her sister and best friend, Marianne Prater,
of Bowie, Texas, and her children and their families, Pam Harmon and Wes Prater.
Wanda also leaves behind five loving children, Curt and Margaret Holdridge, Tulsa, OK, Don and Glenda
Holdridge, Sachse, TX, Marilee and Jeff Blackwelder, Austin, TX, Rick Holdridge, Fort Worth, TX, and Tom
Holdridge, Austin, TX; eleven grandchildren, Holly and Todd Adams, Eric Holdridge, Chuck and Lisa Holdridge,
Dewan and Cindy Holdridge, Kirk and Elaine Holdridge, Alison Ross, Megan and Ben Love, Elizabeth Blackwelder
and Logan Ross; twelve great grandchildren, Anna and Zachary Holdridge, Kevin Holdridge, Blake, Tara, Tyler,
Amber and Faith Holdridge, and Harper Alameda Love. She also leaves behind many beloved cousins, nieces,
and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held in Altus Friday, April 21, 2006 1:30 pm at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home with Rod
Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery.

Lou Fern Hollaway

Lou Fern Hollaway, age 88, passed away March 4, 2004 in Pell City, Alabama. Lou was born August 3, 1915 at
Blair Oklahoma, to Harve and Bertha (Isham) Rose. Lou and John Hollaway were united in marriage on February
25,1934 in Blair, Oklahoma.

Lou was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Blair, she taught primary class for many years. She
loved to garden and worked at Knox Hardware. She was a lifelong resident of Jackson County until moving to
Alabama to be near hear daughter two years ago.

Lou is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, 3 sisters.

She is survived by; two (2) sons, John Harvey Hollaway and his wife Janace of Sandy, Utah and Ewell Lynn
Hollaway of Tulsa, Oklahoma, one (1) daughter Arela Overton and her husband Tommy of Pell City, Alabama.
Thirteen (13) grandchildren, twenty-four (24) great grandchildren, and one (1) great-great grandchild.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Blair First Baptist Church officiated by Rev.
Randy Mitchell. Burial will follow at the Restlawn Cemetery. The Hollaway family will receive there friends at the
funeral home Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Arrangements are with Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Holley

Beulah B. Holley, 95, a retired secretary from First United Methodist Church in Altus, Oklahoma, left us on April 2,
2009, and is now dancing and seeing her Lord and Savior face to face.
Beulah was a native of Stonewall, Oklahoma, and moved to Tallahassee, Florida, in 1979 from Altus. She left
many "footprints" behind at the First United Methodist Church in Altus. Beulah joined the church staff as
secretary in 1950 and remained in that position for approximately twenty-five years. Her role expanded through
the years to include responsibilities of receptionist, librarian, church visitor greeter, minister's personal secretary,
membership secretary, and a co-editor of THE ALTUS METHODIST. As the workload of the church office
expanded, Beulah received secretarial help, and she took on the job of Secretary of Finance. In addition to the
responsibilities related to the church office, Beulah was active in the Wesleyan Service Guild, taught Church
School classes, helped with Bible School, and became the projectionist with the church audio-visual equipment.
In all these capacities, Beulah served as a dedicated Christian, devoted to full-time Christian service. Beulah
retired in 1979 from the church staff, but she continued to help when needed, especially each year with the
mechanics of the financial campaign of the church. She became involved in St. Paul United Methodist Church
after moving to Tallahassee and has touched many lives in the church and in her neighborhood.
Beulah was married to Elza Monroe Holley, who preceded her in death in 1977. “B.B.”, as her family knew her,
will be truly missed. Her survivors include her sons, Max D. Holley and wife, Lee of Huntsville, Alabama, and
Carter C. Holley and wife Janet of Tallahassee, Florida; sister, Billie White of Quanah, Texas; five grandchildren;
eight great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.
The family requests that donations be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL
32308.

Graveside services will be at the Altus Cemetery June 26th at 10:30 a.m. under the direction of Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home.

Roy A. Holsey

Roy A. Holsey, age 94 of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2007 at English Village Manor.
He was born July 24, 1913, in Mt. Park, Oklahoma to Minnie (Wilson) Holsey and Wiliam Holsey.

Roy and Lucille Chester were united in marriage May 11,1953, in Roswell, New Mexico. They shared fifty-four
wonderful years together.

Roy farmed in the Jackson County area for many years. He was never shy about telling anyone that “he loved
the land.” When he wasn’t busy on the farm, he enjoyed watching sports on TV and spending time with family and
friends. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Altus.

He is survived by his loving wife Lucille of the home in Altus; one son Wayne Holsey and his wife Mary of Duke,
Oklahoma; one daughter Sue Vaughan and her husband Wendal of Stillwater, Oklahoma; two sisters-in-law Irene
Holsey of Altus, Oklahoma, and Mary Jane Holsey of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by three grandsons,
Heath and Jennifer Holsey of Altus, Chad Braker of Guthrie, Texas, Grant Braker of Altus, Oklahoma; three
granddaughters, Lauren Holsey of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Tammy and Mike Lamb of Salina, Kansas, Jennifer and
John Earls of Duke, Oklahoma; four great-grandchildren, Kreighton Holsey of Altus, Oklahoma, Garrett Earls of
Duke, Oklahoma, Kristian Lamb and Hannah Lamb of Salina, Kansas; and a host of other relatives and many
friends.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, four brothers Clarence, Elmer, Ralph and Ray.

Funeral Services for Roy A. Holsey are scheduled for Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the
Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery
under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Memorial may be made in honorary of Roy Holsey to the First Baptist Pray Ministry Altus Oklahoma.

The family will greet friends Tuesday evening December 11, 2007 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home.

HOLT

Delbert Winfred Holt, age 85 of Blair, passed away Sunday afternoon, September 24, 2006 at Mercy Hospital in
Oklahoma City.

Delbert was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on September 13, 1921, to Claude C. and Zulmee (Leonard) Holt.
Graduating from Shawnee High School in 1939, he obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of
Oklahoma where he was a four-year letterman in baseball. He received his master’s degree from Southwestern
Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. From September of 1942 until October of 1945, Delbert spent time
serving his country in the United States Army earning the American Theater Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal
and European African Middle Eastern Service Medal. During this time he was involved in the Battle of the Bulge
and other campaigns and battles in Central Europe and the Rhineland. In 1950, he found his way to Blair and
coached for thirteen seasons and was named the Coach of the Decade in the 1950’s. Virtually all of his thirty-two
years in education was spent in Blair except for three short years as the high school principal at Anadarko. In
1965, he was named superintendent of Blair School and retired from that position in 1982. On May 27, 1956,
Delbert married Oma Gean Capps in Blair. A deacon of the Blair First Baptist Church, Delbert enjoyed playing
dominoes, anything connected with the University of Oklahoma and especially OU Athletics. He was a member of
the Jackson County Health Board for forty years, the American Legion, a 32nd Degree Mason, Blair Cemetery
Board member, a member of the Jackson County Retired Teachers Association and was enshrined in the
Jackson County Sports Hall of Fame and the Oklahoma Girls’ Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.

Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leonard Holt and Cecil Holt and one sister, Marie McMahan,
Delbert is survived by his wife, Oma Gean, of fifty years; two children, Cindy Jo Rieger and husband Sid of
Blanchard and Hal Dean Holt and wife Marla of Sentinel; four grandchildren, Christa Jo Geary and Raymond Dale
Rieger, both of Blanchard and Alyssa Jean Holt and Bryan Dean Holt, both of Sentinel along with many other
relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Delbert Holt will be Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Randy Mitchell and Rev. Marshall Howard officiating. Internment will follow at the Blair Cemetery
under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

The family of Delbert Holt will greet friends at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 from 6
until 7 p.m.

Gilbert Z. Hopkins

Gilbert Hopkins was born at Lugert on August 29, 1921 and passed away on December 17, 2006 at the VA
Center in Lawton, Ok. His parents were Albert Hopkins and Lula Mae (Winters) Hopkins. He attended Mt. Tepee
School, earned a GED, Graduated from several industrial courses and earned college credits . He was a career
employee of Oklahoma Natural Gas, where he rose from manual laborer to become a Superintendent. He was a
32nd Degree Mason, post Master twice and a Rainbow Dad. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army stationed in
Europe (France, Germany, Belgium) during WWII. He received several medals during his military service and was
honorably discharged. He enjoyed fishing, raising cattle and being on his farm and was a devoted care-giver to
his beloved wife after she suffered a major stroke in 1996. He was a hard working, honest and gentle man, who
had a deep abiding faith in his Savior
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Laudise Mae (Starr), two sons; Gilbert Gene Hopkins and his wife Judi, Jerry
Wayne Hopkins and his wife, Linda; one daughter, Kathryn Childress and her husband, Jerry; five grandchildren
and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters and one
grandson.
Funeral Services for Gilbert Hopkins are scheduled for Thursday, December 21, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at the First
Baptist Church in Blair, Oklahoma with Rev .Randy Mitchell officiating . Interment will follow at the Warren
Cemetery, under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family of Gilbert Hopkins will greet friends on Wednesday, December 20, 2006, from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M.
at Lowell-Funeral Home.

Laudise Mae (Starr) Hopkins

Laudise Mae (Starr) Hopkins was born on September 8, 1922 in Humphrey, Oklahoma. She grew up in the
Jackson County area. Her elementary school years were interrupted so that she could work on her Dad’s farm
with her brothers and sisters.
She was married to Gilbert Z. Hopkins on September 9, 1939. She was barely 17. He was just 18. They were
married in the home of Gilbert’s uncle, a minister. She was a homemaker for most of her life. She loved making a
home and cooking for her family. She like to read, to fish, to sing and to take care of her beautiful flower beds.
She loved the Lord and served Him in many ways over her lifetime.
She was one of eleven children born to Alonzo Bell and Mattie Bell (Lillard) Starr. She is preceded in death by
her beloved husband, a precious grandson, her parents, two brothers, and one sister.
She is survived by three brothers Glenn (Fern) Starr, Doug (Donna) Starr and Bill Starr all of Bakersfield, CA;
four sisters Naomi Stanford of Blair, OK, Edna Adams of Altus, Ok, Joretta Blaylock of Santa Rosa, CA, and Cora
Tillet of Bakersfield, CA; her children: Gilbert Gene and Judi Hopkins of Tulsa, OK, Jerry Wayne and Linda
Hopkins of Coppell, TX, and Kathryn Ann and Jerry Childress of Livingston, TX; five grandchildren Cherie
(Childress Howell of Bloomington, IL,Jeff Childress of Allen, TX, Pam (Hopkins) Naugher of Broken Arrow, OK,
Michelle (Hopkins) Brooks of Jacksonville, FL, and Bryan Hopkins of Coppell, TX; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Laudise Mae (Starr) Hopkins are scheduled for Saturday, January 27, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at
the First Baptist Church in Blair, with Rev. Randy Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in the Warren Cemetery
under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family of Laudise Hopkins will greet friends Friday evening January 26, 2007 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Lowell-
Tims Funeral Home.

Ora Mae Hopkins

Ora Mae Hopkins, 84, former Altus resident, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2007, at the Harmon Memorial
Hospital in Hollis, Oklahoma.

She was born May 4, 1922, in Randall County, Texas, to J.W. and Pearl (Boggs) Johnson. She grew up in Hollis
and graduated from Westview High School west of Hollis. She moved to Altus, Oklahoma, where she resided until
after the death of her daughter, Patricia Renae Daugherty in 2004. Ora Mae’s health declined and she went back
to Hollis to reside at Colonial Manor I Nursing Home where she enjoyed playing dominoes and visiting with friends.
She also played the piano for the church services on Sunday mornings. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist
Church in Altus.

Ora Mae is survived by her son-in-law, Tom Daugherty, of Oklahoma City; two granddaughters, Tiara Taylor of
Oklahoma City and Sheila Culbertson of Windsor, Missouri; two great-grandsons, Jeff and Taylor Culbertson of
Windsor, Missouri; one sister, Mary Boyett and husband John of Amarillo, Texas; three brothers, Sammy Johnson
and wife Loretta of Mt. Belvieu, Texas, James Johnson and wife Billie of Amarillo, Texas, and Charlie Johnson of
Lubbock, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Cloetta Johnson of Hollis.

Ora Mae was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Pearl Johnson; one daughter, Pat Daugherty; three
brothers, Arnold, Don, and Bill Johnson; one sister, Laura Fry; a brother-in-law, Travis Fry; and four sisters-in-law,
Helen Johnson Blewer, Zelma Johnson, Ruby Johnson, and Dovie Johnson.

Funeral Services will be 3:00 pm, Monday, March 19, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Altus with Reverend Boyd
Whitehead and Reverend Jerry Golden officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the
direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Charlie Leo Hoppe

Charlie Leo Hoppe age 103, (Papa Charlie to all those who loved and admired him) went to be with his and our
Lord, Sunday, March 19, 2006. He was born February 22, 1903, to Anthony and Ida Webb Hoppe in Weleetka
Oklahoma. Charlie loved people and people all loved Charlie. He loved and lived for his Lord and his family. He
was a truly a Christian mentor to his many friends and family members. His life was an example, a witness and
testimony of his love for his Lord to everyone who knew him.
On July 14, 1923, he married Virgie Pauline Patterson. They were married 67 years before her death in 1990.
They had four daughters which he fondly referred to as Charlie’s Angels. He was most proud of being a loving
father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Altus since 1948. He served as a Deacon for 58 years. Charlie
became a member of the Gideons International in 1980 and was involved in their Jail Ministry and Bible
placement. Charlie began working for Gulf Oil Company in 1926. After retiring from Gulf Oil Company he worked
with the Civil Service for 9 years at Altus Air Force Base, he then worked another 16 years at Kizziar Feed Lot in
Altus.
For the last four years he has been a resident at the Plantation Village Retirement home. Our deepest gratitude
goes to the caregivers at Plantation Village and to his very special friend, Lenora Gant and a special thanks to
the staff at JCMH, and to Dr. Joe Leverett.
He was preceded in death by his wife Virgie, six brothers, a son-in-law, Ralph Morgan and three grandchildren,
Chuck Stearman, Sharon Stearman and Robert Morgan.
Charlie is survived by his four daughters, Paulene (Polly) Morgan of Houston, Texas, Pat Stearman and husband
Al of Gillette, WY, Ruth Kizziar and husband Don of Altus, Oklahoma and Rieta Selberg and husband John of
Germantown, TN. Nine grandchildren; Jenny Head husband Jamie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Rieta Dennis
and husband Mike of Gillette, WY, Kathy Stearman of Gillette, WY, Kim Wilmes and husband Jeff of Altus,
Oklahoma, Steve Morgan and wife Annette of Houston, Texas, John Mark Selberg and wife Tina of Germantown,
TN, Jim Selberg and wife Melinda of Germantown, TN, Barbara Brown and husband Tripp of Chattanooga, TN
and David Selberg and wife Robin of Germantown, TN, and twenty one great- grandchildren, Teresa Stanfield,
Holly Morgan, Cheri Hugle and husband Jason, Joe Morgan, Jamie Neal and husband Jerry, Chad Adams and
wife Ellie, Kirk Wilmes, Sarah Dennis, Jesse Dennis, Katie Wilmes, Catherine Choate, Ashley Selberg, John
Connor Choate, Kelly Selberg, Lauren Morgan, John William Selberg, Davis Hoppe Selberg, Rachel Morgan, Ben
Selberg, Mary Ragna Selberg, Griffin Selberg and four great- great- grandchildren, Jeremiah Couchane, Devon
Tyler Stanfield, Jay Austin Hugle and Zada Morgan.
Our loss has made heaven just a little more beautiful.
Funeral Service for Charlie Hoppe will be held Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church
with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening March 22, 2006 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Memorial may be made to the TV Ministry of First Baptist Church of Altus or to the Gideon International Bible Society.
