Therese Orozco

Age 72, Lawton - Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday in the Highland Cemetery with Rev. James D.M. Stafford, Pastor, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, officiating.

Mrs. Orozco died Thursday at a local hospital.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.

She was born on January 12, 1935 in Weilheim, Germany. She worked at Fort Sill in the Dining Facility before she retired.

SSG (Retired) Rene David Mercier

Age 67, Cache - Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Monday at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mr. Herman Lawrence, deacon at Holy Family Catholic Church officiating.

Sgt. Mercier died Monday.

Burial with full military honors will be in Post Cemetery, Fort Sill.

He was born October 3, 1939 in Rumford, Maine to Sylvan and Lillian Eleanor (Lefebvre) Mercier. He married Liselotte L. Hertlein on December 20, 1960 in Basel, Switzerland. Sgt. Mercier served twenty years in the Army, retiring in 1977. He received the Expert Qualification Badge with M16 rifle, the Good Conduct Medal with 6th award, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife, of the home, four children and their spouses, Marion E. and Danny Holt, Lawton, Robert Lee and Sherry L. Mercier, Pensacola, Florida, Anthony Larry and Charla Mercier, Oklahoma City, and Sean Richard and Charitie A. Mercier, Dallas, Texas, nine grandchildren, Brittany L. Mercier, London R. Mercier, Nixon K. Mercier, Daniel Altimore, Krystal Burgan, Misty Lundsford, Anthony J. Mercier, Kira L. Mercier and Reed L. Mercier, and a niece Bobbi-Lyn Driscoll.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Larry Mercier and an aunt, “Barney” Smith.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1320 N.W. Homestead Drive, Suite D, Lawton, OK 73505.

Bonnie Lee Wyrick

Age 80, Lawton - Graveside service will be at 10:00 am Tuesday at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill with Rev. Don Howard, Pastor of Holy Cross Lutheran Church officiating.

Mrs. Wyrick died Saturday at her residence.

Burial will be under the direction of Becker Funeral Home.

She was born August 14, 1926 in Geneseo, KS to Clair and Marceline (Fergueson) Anderson. She married CPO (Retired) John J. Wyrick on September 2, 1944 in Newton, Kansas. He passed away on August 24, 2005. During their sixty one years of marriage, they lived in five states and traveled throughout Europe. They lived in Albuquerque, NM for thirty five years before moving to Lawton in 2001. She was a Red Cross Volunteer, an avid golfer, and loved fishing and camping. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughter Robyn J. Wyrick of Lawton, four grandchildren, Nathan Crowder and his wife Brandy, and Matthew Crowder all of New Mexico, Josh and Ronnie Wyrick, both of Gatesville, TX, a sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Robert Gibson of Lufkin, TX, her aunt Pauline Timmons of Hugoton, KS, Step-father A.A. Yost of Great Bend , KS, three special friends, Bernice Sandoval, Carmelita White and Robin Gardner, all of Lawton. She is also survived by a great granddaughter Rachel Crowder and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Roni Crowder and a son John Rick Wyrick.

Pauline Stradley Clearwater

Age 96, Snyder - Services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church, Snyder, with Rev. Steve Posey, pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Clearwater died Tuesday in Noble, Oklahoma.

Burial will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home of Snyder.

She was born September 16, 1910 in Manitou, Oklahoma, to Pope and Frances McDaniel Stradley. She was a graduate of Mountain Park High School. She married Lynn Isaac Clearwater on August 30, 1935 in Lawton. He preceded her in death. She was retired from the Bank of the Wichita’s on January 1, 1976.

She was very active in the First United Methodist Church in Snyder and had served as church secretary. She had a great affection for her many friends and relatives and will be missed.

She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Joyce F. Mullins

Age 67, Lawton - Funeral services will be at 7:00pm Tuesday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Mullins died Saturday at her home following a lengthy illness.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Becker Funeral Home.

A funeral in Clinton North Carolina will be at 11:00am Saturday in the Sharon Church, with burial to follow in the Grandview Memorial Park Cemetery in Clinton, North Carolina. The family will greet friends Friday evening from 7:00pm until 9:00pm at the Crumpler – Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton, North Carolina.

Joyce was born May 2, 1940 in Clinton, North Carolina to Relmon Lewis and Ila Jayne (Petersen) Fann. She was the second of three children and was raised in Clinton until 1958 when she attended Pineland College and graduated with a business certificate. Soon after she met Danny Mullins at Fort Bragg, NC, where she was an administrative assistant and he was a soldier. They married and had two wonderful children, Scott and Chris. Joyce later moved to Oklahoma where she worked at Fort Sill in civil service and retired in 1998. Upon retirement, she was given the prestigious Saint Barbara Award for outstanding civilian service. Joyce was a universally well respected individual at work and in her personal life. She was widely regarded as a person who always did the right thing and was trusted by many. She had a genuine smile that would light up the room and a laugh distinctive only to her. Known as a true Southern Belle, she was always said to be “ a lady with a lot of class” and with old fashioned, traditional values. She placed a strong emphasis on family and sacrificed greatly for them.

Survivors include her two sons, Scott Mullins of Norman, OK, Chris Mullins of Lawton, OK, two grandchildren, Danny James Mullins and Montana Lane both of Duncan, OK and a sister Barbara Stewart of Fayetteville, NC.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Futrell Fann.

Todd Hinton Schoonover

Age 43, League City, TX - Services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday in the First United Methodist Church, Snyder, with J. Stephen Posey, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Snyder, officiating.

Mr. Schoonover died Sunday at his home following a lengthy illness.

Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Snyder, under the direction of Becker Funeral Home of Snyder.

He was born July 12, 1964 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Vic H. and Elizabeth Anne (Burris) Schoonover. He received an associate degree from Western Oklahoma State College, and had attended Cameron University and the University of Oklahoma. He married Brenda Joy Flanagan on January 2, 1987 in Altus, Oklahoma.

He is survived by his wife Brenda of the home, four children, Matthew Todd, Julia Joy, Lauren Emalee and Bradon Scott, all of the home, his parents Vic and Elizabeth Schoonover of Snyder, OK, two brothers, Mark Justin Schoonover of Vernon, TX and Bruce Douglas Schoonover of Snyder, OK, two sisters-in-law, Maureen Flanagan of Portland, OR, Audrey Hodos of Allison, PA, and three nephews, Zane, Tucker and Conor Schoonover.

He was preceded in death by his son Weston Scott Schoonover.

Awilda "Terri" Grace

Age 50, Garland, Texas - Services will be 1:30 PM Monday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Blessing Yap, Pastor, First United Methodist Church, Elgin, officiating.

Mrs. Grace died Friday in Garland, Texas.

Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 – 6:00 PM Sunday at the Becker Funeral Home.

She was born on November 11, 1955 in Aibonito, Puerto Rico to Marcial and Felicita (Maldonado) Ortiz. She was a longtime Lawton resident and worked for civil service at the Fort Sill Army Education Center as a Test Control Officer for 19 years, before retiring.

Survivors include a son, Joseph Anthony Grace of Lawton; a daughter, Janet Lenay Grace of Idabel; three grandchildren, Levi Landon James Tabor, Ethan Grace and Teresa Grace; and six brothers and sisters, Nancy Ortiz of San Antonio, Texas, Eddie Ortiz of Garland, Texas, Edwin Ortiz of Denver, Colorado, Mildred Gibson of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Elizabeth Martin of Wichita Falls, Texas and Richard Ortiz of Lawton; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Her parents and a brother, Marcial Alberto Ortiz, preceded her in death.

Noah Franklin Whittington

Age 64, Lawton - Memorial services will be held at a later date in North Carolina.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Becker Funeral Home.

Mr. Whittington died Thursday in a Lawton hospital.

He was born March 19, 1942 in Wilkes County, North Carolina to Jesse Odell and Dellis Emily (Cleary) Whittington. Mr. Whittington was a retired truck driver.

Myrtle Mae Hulsey

Age 101, Cement - Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Cement Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. John Zwolle, pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Hulsey died Monday in Oklahoma City.

Burial will be in the Cement Cemetery under the direction of the Becker Cement Chapel (formerly Robbins Funeral Home).

She was born March 22, 1905 in Maxwell, Oklahoma, to William Francis and Hattie Sanders Lankister. She grew up in Tillman County and as a young girl moved to Cement where she attended school. She was primarily a homemaker but had worked as a caregiver for the elderly, as a café worker and at the drugstore in Cement. She married William Oscar Hulsey who preceded her in death in 1964.

She was an avid volunteer, loved to crochet, played the harmonica and was a charter member of the Cement Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She is survived by a son William Herbert Hulsey, Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, Eugene Hulsey, Cement, Roger and Martha Hulsey, Oklahoma City, Brenda and Johnny Hicks, Loco, Oklahoma, Janice and Kevin Dyer and Delbert and Maxine Hulsey of Oklahoma City; eleven great grandchildren, Rodney, Heather, Darla, Bridgett, J.R., Sharletha, Sabrina, Devon, Don Paul, Jr., Nicole, and Jeremy; 21 great grandchildren.

A daughter, Tincy Hulsey, two great grandchildren, Dana and Donnie Hulsey, and five brothers preceded her in death.
