Jones

Bertha E. Jones, 81, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at the Plantation Village Care Center in Altus,
Oklahoma.

Bertha was born May 14, 1915, in Sturgis, South Dakota, to Clyde and Ellzana (Mendenhall) Tipton. She
graduated from Sturgis High School. Bertha married Merle Edward Jones October 14, 1941, in Newcastle,
Wyoming. She was a homemaker and loved reading, gardening, and sewing. She and her husband to Altus in the
early 1970’s where they lived in retirement until her husband’s death in 1999. She was a member of the Baptist
Church.

Preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Wanda Davidson, one brother, one sister, and one great-
grandson, Bertha is survived by one son, Leroy Jones and his children Ellzana Jones and Remington Jones, all of
California; one daughter, Ruby Patterson of Texas, and her children, Duska Rohrbach of Washington State and Lisa
Beens of Texas; a son-in-law, William Davidson of Altus and his children William Davidson, also of Altus and Wayne
Davidson of Huntsville Alabama; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services for Bertha Jones were held 10:00 am, Monday, January 8, 2007, at the Altus City Cemetery
with Chaplain Erin Martinez officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

Billy Raymond “Rooster” Jones

Billy Raymond “Rooster” Jones was born on September 13, 1929. He was left on the door steps of Vera Holding
in Tipton, Oklahoma and adopted by Raymond “Doc” and Bessie (Wilhite) Jones of Hess, Oklahoma. He passed
away on April 19, 2008 at the Clinton Veterans Center at the age of 78.

He went to college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he played baseball and led all Bulldogs in
hitting and was in the top ten of all small college teams. He also received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at
SWOSU. He went on to play semi-pro baseball in 1949-1950 and professional baseball for the Giants and Dodgers
farm clubs.

Rooster was a long-time resident of Altus, Oklahoma where he owned and operated the Park Lane Nursing
Home. He was a long-time Basketball and Baseball coach at Arapaho, Arnett-Hollis, Duke, and Tipton High
Schools. His basketball teams compiled a record of 200-73; his baseball teams’ record was 195-102; and his Duke
team went 100-8 and twice reached the state tournament. In 1995 he was selected to coach the AA American
Legion Team at Altus and in that same year he was also inducted into the Jackson County Athletic Hall of Fame.
Rooster was one of the most loyal fans of the Altus High School athletic events. He was a member of the First Baptist
Church of Altus and the Altus Bass Association. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, and spending time with his
wife, children, and grand kids.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Sue who passed away in 2004. He is survived by five
children, Michale Marcy and her husband Keith of Clinton, Oklahoma; Nancy Richardson of Edmond, Oklahoma;
Tonia Duncan of Burns Flat, Oklahoma; Mike Weber of Oklahoma City; Mark Weber and his wife Jennifer of Tulsa,
Oklahoma; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; former wife Madonna Propps; numerous other relatives and
many friends.

Services for Billy Raymond “Rooster” Jones will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at the Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction
of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

Dina Kay Jones

Dina Kay Jones age 48, passed away September 20, 2005 at Southwestern Medical Center in Lawton.
She was born March 24, 1957 in Hondo, Texas to Merced Becerra and Josefina (Rodriguez).
As a young child Dina sang songs about Jesus. Less than 2 days prior to her death she sang these words to her long
time favorite hymn in a soft yet ‘on-pitch’ voice.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Merced and Josephina Becerra and a sister, Faith Ann Byrd.
Dina is survived by a daughter, Ericka and a son, Brian of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; brothers, Eddie Becerra and
wife Martha of Altus, Oklahoma, Abel Becerra and wife Hogla of Dallas, Texas, and Joel Becerra and wife Helga
of Albuquerque, New Mexico, sisters, Margaret Tingle and husband Tom of Elizabethtown, KY, and Josie Jones
of Dallas, Texas, brother in law David Byrd of San Antonio, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Friday, September 23, 2005 at 1:30 pm at the Altus City Cemetery with Dr. Jeff
Moore officiating, under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family will greet guest Thursday, September 22, 2005 from 6:30 until 8:00 pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Donald R. Jones

Donald R. Jones, age 71 passed Monday, January 10, 2005. Resident of Pasadena TX, for 42 years. Member of
First Baptist Church of Pasadena. Retired form ARMCO Steel Corp. and Texas Instruments. Graduated from Texas
Tech. University. Served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors by is loving wife Patricia Jones, daughter; Amy Jones, son; Jimmy Jones; sister; Shirley Sanders; Brothers;
Wayne Jones, Larry Jones; three grandchildren; Jonathan, Austin, Natalie.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at Colonial Funeral Home.
Funeral Service, Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 10:00am at the First Baptist Church of Pasadena, 7500 Fairmont,
Pasadena.
Graveside service will be Thursday, January 13, 2005 at 3:00pm at the Altus City Cemetery.

Dorothy Georgene Fariss Jones

Dorothy Georgene Fariss, daughter of Ira Milton, Sr., and Ethel (Fields) Fariss was born September 26, 1915
at the home of her maternal grandparents, Monroe and Martha Fields, in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma, and died
February 7,2005 at Altus, Oklahoma. Dorothy grew to womanhood on the family farm on the Trail Flat, north of
Leedey, Oklahoma. An accomplished seamstress and possessing expert culinary skills, she had the responsibility of
cooking for the family ranch hands before the age of 10. Dorothy attended both Trail and Leedey schools,
graduating from Trail High School in 1933.

On December 15,1939 she was united in marriage to Wendell Jones at the Methodist Parsonage in Clinton,
Oklahoma. They established a home on their farm moving into a new house they built prior to marriage. To this
union were born two children, a son, Gail P. and a daughter, Helen A. After 35 years on the farm, Wendell and
Dorothy retired to a new home in Elk City. Wendell died April 6, 2004, at which time Dorothy moved to Altus to be
near her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

An active member and supporter of both the Leedey and Elk City First Baptist Church where she participated
in numerous activities, Dorothy was a humble woman with a devout faith in her Creator. Her family brought her great
joy and she reveled in their happiness and accomplishments. She gave to them an unconditional love that will endure
through time.

Although the Parkinson’s syndrome ravaged her body for more that 20 years, never complaining, Dorothy
maintained her charming wit, beautiful smile and courage, leaving behind a legacy of strength, courage, wisdom and
love.

Predeceased by her parents and a sister, Georgie Fariss, Dorothy is survived by her son and his wife, Gail and
Sandra Jones, Duncan, Oklahoma; a daughter and her husband Helen and Jimmy King of Altus,
Oklahoma; grandchildren, Shellie and Curtis Thornton, Altus, Oklahoma and Shawn Whorton, Decatur, Alabama.
Three great-grandsons: Hunter Whorton, Collin and Garrett Thornton and her brother, Ira Milton, Jr. and his wife,
Fencil and their family of Leedey, Oklahoma.

Graveside Service for Dorothy Georgene Fariss Jones is scheduled for Thursday, February 10, 2005 at
11:00 a.m. at the Trail Cemetery at Leedey, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Jones will lie in state Wednesday, February 9,2005 at noon at Shaw Funeral Home in Leedey, Oklahoma.
Memorials may be made to the Trail Cemetery Fund c/o Wesley Metzler Rt. 1 Box 77 Leedey, Oklahoma
73654 in memory of Dorothy Jones.

Emmett C. (E.C.) Jones

Emmett C. Jones (E.C.), a 60-year resident of Borger, Texas, went to the Lord on the first day of spring, March 21,
2007, at the Memphis Convalescence Center (Hospice). Born in 1921 in Cleburn, Texas, to Cliff and Lucy Jones, he
attended Gould High School and served in World War II in the Army Air Corps, Signal Corps, in North Africa and
Europe. Anna Lois Smith of Hollis, Oklahoma, became his bride in December 1946. A baseball player in his youth,
he remained an avid baseball fan and taught his children and grandchildren to appreciate the sport; he also enjoyed
watching college football and basketball. When he retired from Plains Plant, Phillips Petroleum Company (37 years),
he was able to devote full time to his true vocation of farming in Hansford County. He was President Emeritus of
Union AFL-CIO #351 where members still call him a “giant” and remember and honor him for his integrity; Phillips
Petroleum officials respected him for his negotiation abilities.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Anna Lois Jones; daughters Anna Earlene Caspersen and husband
Roland of Los Alamos, New Mexico; Paula Teuton and husband James of Borger; Lisa Ridling and husband Jerry of
Houston; grandchildren Julie Marsh of Los Angeles, California; Holly Riley and husband Ford of Glendale, California;
David Teuton of Borger; John Ridling of Houston; great-grandchildren Fiona and Quinn Riley of Glendale, California;
brothers, Glenn Jones and Sterling Jones and wife Glenna of Hollis, Oklahoma; Cecil Jones and wife Evelyn of
Aberdeen, South Dakota; sister, Joyce Harris of Gould, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 am, Monday, March 26, 2007, at the Patterson Greer Chapel in Hollis with
Reverend Richard Manning of the Corinth Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at the
Gould Cemetery in Gould, Oklahoma, under the direction of our funeral home in Hollis,Patterson Greer Funeral Home.

Honorary spiritual pallbearers are co-workers from Plains Plant, AFL-CIO #351 members and his many friends from
Hansford County. A memorial service at the Bunavista Baptist Church in Borger where he was a member will be held
at a later date. Friends are encouraged to make contributions in his memory to the American Cancer Society.

Etta Mae Jones

Etta Mae Jones, age 96 of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away May 10, 2003 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Services are set for 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 12, 2003 at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will
follow at the Carter Cemetery.
Etta was born December 4, 1906 at Prairie Hill, Oklahoma to parents John Barton Evans and Eula Byrd Evans. She
was united in marriage to Lee Chadwick who preceded her in death in 1938. Etta later remarried to Lester Jones and
they moved the family to Altus in 1952. In Altus, she started her own Day Care business. Etta was a charter member
of the Grace United Methodist Church where she took care of the nursery. She enjoyed working in the yard and
loved her flowers.
Etta was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by three
sons, Lee “Ted” Chadwick of Altus, Ronnie Chadwick of Davidson, Oklahoma, Larry Jones of Stratford, Oklahoma;
one daughter, Clare Neer of Idaho ; one sister, Nanna Lou Sanders of Sayre, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, twenty
six great grandchildren, eighteen great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Harold W. Jones

Harold W. Jones, age 87 died Monday, January 10, 2005 at Tamarack Retirement Center. Burial with full military
honors including a Marine Corps Honor Guard will be held at the Altus City Cemetery on Saturday, January 15, 2005
following Funeral Mass at Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Falcon Road at 12:30 P.M. with The Reverend Joe
H. Arledge officiating under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Jones was born March 16,1917 in Altus to John Isaac and Georgia Irene Jones. Harold served in the U.S. Marine
Corps with the “Banana Fleet Marines” prior to WWII. During WWII he was wounded at Iwo Jima. After the war he
became co-owner of Jones Pawn Shop with his father, J.I. Jones, and his brother, Gravis Jones, until Harold retired at
age 62.

Jones was soon recognized for his talent of rock-laying as he built a huge rock wall on his North Lee property. He
then rocked his own home in the country east of Blair and rocked the Knights of Columbus building north of Altus. He
did most of the last two after retiring from the Jones Pawn Shop. He was a kind, considerate, intelligent, hard-
working, generous, patriotic person who cared very much for his family and his country. Harold was known for his
fairness to all people regardless of race, color, creed, or national origin.

Jones was a lifetime member of the VFW, the American Legion, the NRA, the Disabled American Veterans, the
Purple Hearts Association, and the Knights of Columbus, 3rd and 4th Degree.

Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.

Jones is survived by three children, a twin son, Patrick L. Jones and his wife Barbara, of Bellevue, Nebraska, a twin
daughter, Patricia L. Blackman and her husband Don of Altus, and a son, H. Bob Jones of San Antonio,Texas. He is
also survived by six grandchildren, Craig, Debby, and Deanna Dickerson, John and Rick Jones, and Kelly Allen, and
three great-grandchildren, David, Joseph, and Shelly Jones. He is also survived by two nieces, Karen Knox and
Shirley Updegraf, and one nephew, Gary Jones.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Laura Margaret Sperlazza Jones, October 13, 1992, his brothers,
Gravis B. and Bobby S., his sister, Pearl, and both parents.

A visitation will be held at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

A Wake to celebrate Harold’s life will be held at the Parish Hall of Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Friday,
January 14, 2005 at 7:00 P.M. the day prior to the funeral mass services and his many friends are invited to attend the
celebration.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his honor may be made to St. Vincent DePaul in care of Ron or Betty Ray.

John Leslie Jones

John Leslie Jones, 73, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2008, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He and wife Ida had been
residing there for six years. John, the youngest of four children, was born on January 6, 1935 in Roxton, Texas, to
JB Jones and Mary Louise Allen-Jones and he spent his childhood and youth in Altus, Oklahoma, where many
relatives still reside. John has been married to Ida M. Mitchell for 38 years. During his first marriage to Shirley E.
Neal, a daughter, Anita L. Jones was born.
John graduated Lincoln High School in Altus, Oklahoma. After 4 years in the Navy, he lived in Los Angeles, CA for
20 years. He received a Bachelor’s degree from California State University, Long Beach and achieved his Master’s
degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California before moving to Denver, CO.
Most of his career, John worked in Law Enforcement, as a police officer, U.S. Marshall, and Investigative Officer for
the State of Colorado. He was appointed by the Mayor as Assistant Commissioner of Denver’s Anti-Crime
Council. John was a man of infinite wisdom, a strong community advocate and a volunteer school counselor. He
worked tirelessly for safe neighborhoods, upholding the law, and especially the empowerment and education of
young men. He was a member of the youth support groups Rite of Passage in Denver, Colorado and the Committed
100 Black Men in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He is preceded in death by his brother JB Jones Jr.; father, JB Jones Sr.; mother, Mary Louise Allen Jones-Martin;
and stepfather, James Martin. He is survived by his wife, Ida M. Jones; daughter, Anita L. Jones; grandson, John
Ryan Peters; sisters, Eunna Faye McMillan; Betty Paul Phillips; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Services will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, June 29, at 4:00 pm at Palm Mortuary, and in Altus,
Oklahoma on Saturday, July 5, at 10:00 am at Lowell-Tims Chapel. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery
under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to fund established in memory of John L. Jones to
recognize the accomplishments of young men associated with the Committed 100 Men, Las Vegas, Nevada
organization. Deposits can either be made in person at any Washington Mutual Bank nationwide or checks made
payable to John Ryan Peters-Custodial Account number 437696956-0 and mailed to Washington Mutual Bank
(WAMU), Grand Canyon Parkway, 9701 West Flamingo Rd. Suite 3, Las Vegas Nevada-89147.

The family of John L. Jones will receive friends between 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, on Friday, July 4, 2008 at Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home.
