Ellen Mae Harris Marks

Ellen Mae Harris Marks passed from this life into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on December 17, 2006 at
Alliance Hospital in Odessa, TX. She was born on October 25, 1913 in Adel OK. to Willie David and Lillie Mae
Marsh. Ellen married Henry Harris in Antlers, OK. in 1938. They moved with their daughters, Bea and Lillie, to Altus,
OK. in 1945. Ellen was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. After the death of Henry Harris, she married Ed
Marks in Celina, TX. Ellen was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. At the time of her death, she was a member
of Sherwood Church of Christ in Odessa, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, four brothers, five sisters, and her grandsons Mitch Hullum and
Jason Sloniger. She is survived by daughters, Bea Hullum and husband Ronald of Odessa, TX., Lillie Sloniger and
husband Jimmie of Blackwell, TX., four grandchildren Rhonda Mullins and husband Lanny of Dallas, TX., Marnie
Putnam and husband Kenneth of Midland, TX., Monica Granath and Dana Maples of Clearfield, UT., and six great
grandchildren Christina Mullins, Ethan Neves, Kayla Sloniger, Kelsey Granath, Bradley and Nick Maples, and many
friends and relatives.
Funeral Services for Ellen Mae Harris Marks are scheduled for Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at
Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Lanny Mullins officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under
the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

MARQUART

Lillie Mae Marquart, age 94, of Lawton and formerly of Duke, passed away Friday evening, May 16, 2008, at The
Village on Lee in Lawton.

Mrs. Marquart was born on September 18, 1913, in Martins Mill, Texas to Lafayette and Rosa Lena (Green) Bass.
With her mother’s death at her birth, Lillie Mae moved to Tishomingo as a small child with her father. Later, moving to
Prairie Hill, she began school and graduated from Prairie Hill High School. After graduation, she and her father moved
to Weatherford, Oklahoma where she attended Southwestern College for two years before she returned to Prairie Hill
and married the love of her life, Gib Marquart, on November 16, 1934. Establishing a home on the farm, South of
Duke in the Prairie Hill Community, she and Gib were involved in farming and their work with the United Methodist
Church of Prairie Hill for many years. After Gib’s retirement in 1978, they moved to Duke and made their home until
his death on July 21, 1995, after sixty wonderful years of marriage. As a member of the United Methodist Women for
many years, Lillie Mae was very involved in her church activites and enjoyed quilting. She also loved spending time
with her family and friends. In March of 1999, Lillie Mae moved to Lawton, to The Village on Lee. On Novemer 16,
1986, Gib and Lillie Mae celebrated their fiftieth anniversary at the Duke United Methodist Church with their children,
family and many friends in attendance.

Mrs. Marquart was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Dura Burnside and three brothers, Earl
Bass, Fred Bass and Grady “Bud” Bass.

Survivors include three children, Wydon Warren and husband Troy of Lawton, Jerry Marquart and wife Karla of
Duke and Vida Hamar and husband Jerald of Hydro; six grandchildren, Michael Warren and finance` Susanne
Gillespie of Lawton and her daughter Cindy, Denise Howard and husband Kevin of Springfield, Missouri, Mitzi
Marquart of Cleburne, Texas, Kacy Marquart of Duke, Pendra Cook and husband Terry of Hydro and Lanny Hamar
of Yukon; three great grandchildren, Mitchell Howard and Garrett Howard of Springfield, Missouri and Kason Cook
of Hydro; one sister-in-law, Roverta Henderson of Moore; four nephews, Donald Bass, Nolan Bass, Roger Bass and
Elvin Burnside and two nieces, Helen McElvany and Freda Ratzlaff along with many friends.

Funeral services for Lillie Mae Marquart will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 19, 2008, at Lowell-Tims Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Elbert Schumaker officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairie Hill Cemetery under the
direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

The family will greet friends at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 until 5 p.m.

JULIANA MARQUEZ

Juliana Marquez, age 74 of Blair, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2004 at Jackson County Memorial
Hospital in Altus, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Marquez was born January 28,1930 at Benavides, Texas to Augustine Garza and Justa (Mireles) Garza.

On January 1, 1946, Juliana married Guadalupe (Lupe) Marquez in Benavides, Texas. In 1962 Juliana and Lupe
moved to Oklahoma, where Juliana was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her family and also
liked to dance.

Mrs. Marquez was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, four sisters, one brother, two children, Lupe Jr.
and Ruben and two grandchildren.

Juliana is survived by her husband, Lupe and nine children; Mary Marquez and fiancé, Victor Cobos of Altus, Ramiro
Marquez and wife Christy of Wichita Falls, Texas, Roel Marquez and wife Shirley of Frederick, Oklahoma, Juan
Marquez and wife Madge of Altus, Oklahoma, Josie Castillo and husband Sam of Cordell, Oklahoma, Francis Hartlein
and husband George of Vernon, Texas, Mario Marquez and wife Tonia of Cordell, Oklahoma, Rose Gray and
husband Bill of Blair, Oklahoma, and Luis Marquez and wife Maria of Altus, Oklahoma. She is also survived by one
brother, Juan Garza and his wife, Ester of Bowie, Texas, one sister, Maria Garza of Benavides, Texas, 19
grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews and many, many
friends.

A Rosary will be held for Juliana Marquez on Tuesday, December 28th at 7:00 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Chapel and
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at 2:00 pm. at Lowell-Tims Chapel with interment at
the Blair Cemetery. Deacon Ray Wallace with the Catholic Church will be officiating. Arrangements are under the
direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

MARSH

Lela Marsh, age 92, of Altus, passed away April 28, 2009 at English Village Nursing Home.

Lela was born in Kiowa County, on the family farm, to George and Nevada Barlow Newton on April 18, 1917.
She married Melvin Marsh on May 2, 1933 and they had 69 wonderful years together before he passed away on
Oct. 18, 2002.

She was a lifelong resident of Southwest Oklahoma. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Southside
Baptist Church for many years. She was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother.

Lela is lovingly survived by her three daughters, Nita Ledbetter of Oklahoma City, Patsy Kuchar of Altus, and Rita
Pantalena of Guilford, CT; seven grandchildren, Brenda Daniel, Carl Gaver, Robin Leonard, Ronald Pantalena Jr.,
Davin Ledbetter, Frank Marsh Pantalena and Daniel Pantalena; 24 greatgrandchildren and 1
great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin; her son, Lavon Marsh; her parents; five sisters, Gertrude
Newton, Minnie Burrows, Ruby Hubbard, Fern Boyd and Opal Hunter; and by four brothers, Brownlow, Chester,
Frank and Jessie Newton.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home
Chapel with Chaplain Erin Martinez officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of
Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

James F. (Speedy) Marshall

James F. (Speedy) Marshall, age 87, passed away Monday evening July 5, 2004 at Jackson County Memorial
Hospital. Speedy was born on June 4, 1917, to Frank and Eula (Evins) Marshall on their farm northwest of Duke.
He graduated from Duke School and continued his education at Central State University in Edmond. Speedy later
served his country as an instructor in the Army Air Corps during the Korean War and retired as a rural mail carrier in
the Duke community after many years of service.

A former member of the Altus City Council for many years, Speedy chose not to run in 2002, but served the last few
years as the Vice-Mayor of Altus. A kind and gentle man, Speedy faithfully served as a volunteer with the Salvation
Army Soup Kitchen for many years. He was also a member of the Elks Golf and Country Club, a Mason and a
faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Altus.

On December 31, 1949 Speedy married the love of his life, Jo Jackson. She preceded him in death in 1996, after he
cared for her during failing health for many years. Speedy is survived by two sons; Matt Marshall of Duke,
Oklahoma and Luke Marshall of Tishomingo; one brother Don Marshall and wife Vernie of Altus and one sister
Hazel Darby of Altus, Oklahoma. Speedy is also survived by three grandchildren who he dearly loved; Laramie,
Landon, and Laina Marshall of Tishomingo.

Committal services will be held at the Altus City Cemetery on Friday, July 9, 2004 at 10:00 am with Reverend
Eugene Foreman officiating. A celebration of life services for James F. (Speedy) Marshall will follow at 11:00 a.m. at
First United Methodist Church with Reverend Doug Burr officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of
Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

NORMA JEAN MARSHALL

Norma Jean Marshall went to be with her Lord and Savior after a ten year courageous battle with cancer on Friday,
May 27, 2005. Norma was born on August 27, 1940 at Morning Sun, Iowa to Raymond and Mildred (Meeker)
Long. On May 20, 1962, Norma and Phillip W. Marshall, Jr., were united in marriage at Winfield, Iowa.

Norma and Phillip moved to Altus in 1986 where she became deeply involved in the Intercessory Prayer Ministry at the
First Baptist Church and the Lighthouse Sunday School Class. Norma was very devoted to her church and family. She
was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Leland Long, and her beloved aunt, Lois (Meeker) Gipple.

Norma is survived by her loving husband of forty-three years, Phillip W. Marshall, Jr., of the home in Altus, Oklahoma;
three children, Dr. Brian Marshall and wife Dr. Tina (Landry) Marshall of East Haven, Connecticut, Phillip W. Marshall
III and wife Dawn (Dibell) Marshall of Keller, Texas and Laura (Marshall) Gorman and husband Carl of Arlington,
Texas; her parents, Raymond and Mildred (Meeker) Long of Winfield, Iowa; one sister, Marjorie (Long) Wuerker of
Buffalo, Wyoming and one brother Gary Long of Winfield, Iowa. She is also lovingly survived by her three
grandchildren; Jessica, Christopher and Jacob, and a host of many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Norma Marshall are scheduled for Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church
in Altus with Rod Smith officiating. Interment will follow on Friday, June 3, 2005 at Winfield, Iowa.

The family of Norma Marshall will greet friends at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May
30, 2005.

Memorials may be made to the Intercessory Prayer Ministry at the First Baptist Church in Altus, Oklahoma in memory
of Norma Jean Marshall.

Clifford Lavern Martin

Clifford Lavern Martin was born September 30, 1918 in Duke, Oklahoma.
He was the son of the late Charlie Lee and Leila Amanda (Smith) Martin. He died
March 6, 2013 at his home in Duke, Oklahoma.

Private Memorial Services for Clifford Lavern Martin are planned for a later date.

He married his wife Christina August 3, 1946 in Vernon, Texas. He served during
World War II in the United States Navy and later transferred to the Seabees.
Lavern was wounded in the Philippines and received the Purple Heart. He was
honorably discharged in November, of 1945. Lavern returned to Duke, Oklahoma
following the War. He was a carpenter by trade, and faithful hard working
husband.

Survivors include his wife Christina of the home in Duke, two children, Phyllis
Vickers and husband, Steve, of Maryland; Craig Martin and wife, Kathy, of
Payson, Arizona; Paul Davis his life long friend of Duke, Oklahoma; four
grandchildren, Todd Hedge, Torrie Bradfield, Christin Wade; Chad Martin; five
great grandchildren.

Lavern was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Milton, Gordon,
Garvis and Byrl Martin.

Debbie Donn Martin

Debbie Donn Martin of Enid, Oklahoma, formerly of Altus, Oklahoma, and Mason City, Iowa, passed away early
Sunday morning, November 27, 2005. Debbie was in Altus, Oklahoma, visiting friends and family when she died of
complications of an ongoing medical condition.
Debbie was born on May 26, 1965, to Don and Kathy Wendel in Mason City, Iowa. She attended schools in Mason
City, Iowa through the 11th grade and graduated from high school in Fort Dodge, Iowa. John Perrott and Debbie
were married in March of 1987. Two sons, Brandon and Jeremy were born to them. Debbie moved to Oklahoma
and later married David Martin on June 29, 1996. Debbie along with her husband and two sons have made their home
in Enid, Oklahoma, for several years. Debbie’s life was most fulfilling for her when she was with her husband and
sons, and when family and friends were gathered for holidays and birthdays. Debbie enjoyed excitement and found
that in playing bingo, shopping and playing table games with family and friends. She always made these events fun for
everyone with her infectious smile, laugh and good humor. Debbie also enjoyed her travels to meet family in Las
Vegas and to spend time with Grandma Groh in Texas.
In her youth, Debbie was an outstanding and highly ranked gymnast. Her dreams of a career as a gymnast were
suddenly brought to an end when she was struck by an automobile while riding a moped with a friend at age fourteen.
The effects of this injury plagued her throughout her life.
Debbie is preceded in death by her father Donald Wendel who died suddenly of a heart condition on Thanksgiving eve
when Debbie was eighteen years old. She is also preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Willard and Bernice
Wendel, her maternal grandfather Karl Groh, her step-mother, Blanche Janssen and uncle, Ken Alert.
Debbie is survived by her husband David Martin, sons Brandon and Jeremy Perrott of Enid, Oklahoma, her mother
Katharine and stepfather Clyde Janssen of Clear Lake, Iowa; three sisters and their husbands and families Lynn and
Jason Wise of Mason City, Iowa, Diana and Eric Tate of Altus, Oklahoma, and Kimber and Jim Cuthbertson of
Aurora, Illinois, maternal grandmother Doris Groh, Mason City Iowa. Stepsisters, Kay and Scott Grein, Clear Lake,
Iowa, Annette and Mike Thompson, Des Moines, Iowa, and stepbrother, Dave and Teresa Janssen; her mother-in-
law and father-in-law, Don and Rita Martin, and sister-in-law Cheryl Avant and nephew, Jeremy of Altus, Oklahoma.
Debbie also has numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who adore her because of her ability to relate with them on
their terms. Also, a special friend, Ladonna Robertson and her family, of Altus, Oklahoma.

Funeral Services for Debbie Martin are Tuesday , November 29,2005 at 10:00 a. m. at Grace United Methodist
Church in Altus, Oklahoma. Pastor George Lupton will be officiating, under the directions of Lowell-Tims funeral
home.

There will be Funeral Services at 10:00 a. m. December 2nd 2005 at Messiah Luthern Church in Mason City, Iowa.
Interment will at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City, Iowa.

Juanita Chisum Martin

Juanita Chisum Martin, age 76 of Wylie, Texas passed away December 22, 2004. She was born April 12, 1928 in
Altus, Oklahoma to John Andrew Chisum and Mary Ellen (Long) Chisum.

She had lived in Wylie, Texas for the last two years, prior to living in Wylie she spent many years in
Hugo,Oklahoma and Elk City, Oklahoma.

Juanita had several hobbies she enjoyed especially needle point and gardening. She was a member of Rose
Assembly in Mangum, Oklahoma.

She is survived by three daughters Barbara Sharp of Hugo, Oklahoma, Brenda Carpender of Wylie, Texas,
Karen Bohnert of Mustang, Oklahoma, four sons, Charles Harris of Hollis, Oklahoma, Michael Harris of Pensacola,
Florida, Larry Webb of Hooks, Texas, Raymond Russell of East, Texas. She is also survived by one sister Lillie
Duvall of Arkansas, sixteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, ten brothers and sisters.
Memorial service for Juanita Chisum Martin is scheduled for Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Gary Usher officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the
direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
