Vanessa C. “Susie” Albertson

Age 48, Lawton - Graveside service will be 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, with Mike Murray, pastor of Lawton Heights Church of the Nazarene, officiating.

Mrs. Albertson died Sunday in Lawton.

She was born in Oklahoma City on January 2, 1958 to Cecil and Mary (Adams) Hutson. She married Jack A. Albertson in Wichita Falls, TX, on August 5, 1993. She was the manager of Grandy’s for eleven years. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Lawton Heights Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Tony Smith of Checotah; a grandson, Trey Garrett; 3 sisters, Glenda, Cathy and Aretta; a brother, Buster Brown; stepfather Albert Adams; 2 stepbrothers, Herschell and Odell; a special cousin, Teri; and special friends, the Bailey family and Micky and Natalie Caudle.

She is preceded in death by her parents; an aunt Jody; and a brother Johnny Joe.

Dee Ann Whitehead

Age 55, Apache - Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church, Apache, Oklahoma with Bro. Leon Shade, Pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Whitehead died Thursday in Apache.

Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Apache, under the direction of Becker Funeral Home of Fletcher (Formerly Robbins Funeral Home).

She was born May 27, 1951 in Anadarko, Oklahoma, to Glade and Joyce Gill Chesney. She grew up in Apache where she graduated high school. She married James Whitehead on August 22, 1969 in Hugo, Oklahoma. She lived in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, from 1969 until 1971 and returned to live in Broken Bow in 1992 following her husband’s retirement from the military. She moved to Apache in 1995. She had worked at Reynolds Army Community Hospital from 1988 until 1992 as a health care finder but was primarily a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, of the home; a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Whitehead, Walters, Oklahoma; her mother, Joyce Hix, Apache; a grandson, Tyler James Freeman; a sister, Terry Wilcox, Apache; three brothers, Rob Chesney, Apache, Tony Chesney, Odessa, Texas, and Steve Chesney, Coleman, Texas; a special family friend, Tobi McCauley; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her daughter, Shannon Rene' Freeman, and her father preceded her in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Comanche County Unit of the American Cancer Society, 1320 NW Homestead Drive, Lawton OK 73505 or to the Cleo Craig Memorial Cancer Research Foundation, 5002 SW Lee Blvd, Lawton OK 73502.

Billy W. Welch

Age 83, Lawton - Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Welch died Tuesday in Norman, Oklahoma.

Inurnment will be in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum, Sunset Memorial Gardens, under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home. Friends may view from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.

He was born May 8, 1923 in Lawton to David Jackson and Ruth Evelyn Trimble Welch. He grew up in Lawton and was a graduate of Lawton High School. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp during World War II and was discharged in 1944. Following his discharge he returned to Lawton and, together with his brothers, operated Welch Oil Company. He married Marcine V. Clardy on December 6, 1945 in Lawton, Oklahoma. She died on December 25, 2001. He retired in 1998. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner.

He is survived by a daughter and son in law, Karen and Mike Mireles; a son and daughter in law, David and Leslie Welch, Lawton; eight grandchildren, Dr. Audra Scearce and husband Joe, David Welch, II and wife Helena, Billy Schroeder, Jamie White, Amber Vaez & husband Carlos, Kimberly and Kaci Mireles, and Brandon Sellers; 11 great grandchildren, William & Alexandra Scearce, Stormie & Savanna Schroeder, Harley & Hailey White, Tristan Rounds, Amber & Scott Williams, Gabrielle Vaez & Baby Schroeder in November; a sister, Margie Welch, Lawton; a brother Paul Welch, Wichita Falls, Texas.

A sister, Betty Hamm, and two brothers, Gene and Jessie Welch, preceded him in death.

MSG (Retired) Michael F. Mustitch

Age 81, Lawton - Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Timothy Fuller, Pastor, officiating.

Sergeant Mustitch died Tuesday in Lawton.

Burial with full military honors will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.

A rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

He was born February 23, 1925 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Pennsylvania and enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 19, 1943 at Norristown, Pennsylvania. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam and retired at Fort Hood, Texas, on November 1, 1973. He married Ila M. Clarke on July 8, 1952 at Wichita Falls, Texas. She died January 20, 1997. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church

He is survived by a daughter and son in law, Theresa M. and Steve Conwell, Alvarado, Texas; a son and daughter in law, Wayne Eugene and Jolie Mustitch, Port Angeles, Washington; three sisters, Eve Pfluger, Pottsville, Pennsylvania, Helen Hanratty, Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, and Betty Fields, Norristown, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Jennifer Lopez, Kathy Evans, Rebecca Burks and Matthew Mustitch; a great grandson, Richard Michael Evans; a nephew, John Mustitch, Phoenix, Arizona; a sister in law, Eva Clarke, Marlow.

Jimmy Dale “Jim” Wright

Age 62, Lawton - Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday at First Baptist East with Rev. Dan Palesano officiating.

Mr. Wright died Friday at his home.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Becker Funeral Home.

Jimmy Dale “Jim” Wright was born on April 28, 1944 in Lawton, Oklahoma. He attended Roosevelt Elementary and graduated from Lawton High School in 1962. After graduation, Jim was selected to attend General Motors School in Oklahoma City where he learned auto mechanics. After completing his training, he worked for Norton Kitchens Buick Cadillac which later was bought and sold becoming Cecil Lawson Buick Cadillac. In 1970, Jim and Zeke Carter opened their own business, C & W Auto Salvage. Together, they ran the business for 27 years until selling it and retiring. Jim was a member of AMBUCS for many years. He also was a member of many RV Clubs.

Jim married his high school sweetheart, Wynn Ann Moore on March 24, 1962. They were married for almost 45 years. They had two children, Deborah and Steven. Not only did Jim work hard, but he loved to play even harder. His family enjoyed many adventures together. Weekends were spent boating and skiing at Fort Cobb or Lawtonka, motorcycle riding in the mountains, or riding dune buggies at the Little Sahara.

After retiring, Jim became a pilot and had a great passion for flying, whether it was flying to Dallas for dinner or across the country. He and his wife sold their house, put their belongings in storage and bought a motor home to travel the United States. They made many new friends along the way and were able to see this beautiful country we live in. Jim and Wynn Ann would come home for the holidays or when it was time to cut the hay. He loved working in the fields planting and cutting the harvest. Then they would be off again.

Jim is survived by his wife, Wynn Ann, of the home, his daughter Deborah Green and her husband Rusty , his son Steven Wright and his wife Tami, his brother Kenneth and his wife Gloria, all of Lawton. Jim was blessed with six grandchildren, Kara and Krista Green, DeSiree’, Ashton, Caleb and Nathaniel Wright; and two great grandchildren, Baylee Green and Katelynn Adair.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Nell Wright.

Erma Louise Robertson

Age 66, Cement - Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Cement Assembly of God with Rev. Dillon Marsh, officiating.

Miss Robertson died Tuesday in an Oklahoma City hospital.

Burial will be in the Cement Cemetery under the direction of the Becker Cement Chapel. (Formerly Robbins Cement Chapel).

She was born January 29, 1941 in Cement to Walter Elmer and Trevah Kathryn Gilger Robertson. She grew up in Cement and attended school in Cyril. She had lived in Cement until 1995 when she moved to Hydro, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Assembly of God in Cement and enjoyed gospel music and jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors include two sisters and brothers in law, Mary and Dillon Marsh, Hydro, Oklahoma, and Kathy and Doyle Etheridge, Lawton, Oklahoma; a brother and sister in law, Walter and Cindy Robertson, Cyril, Oklahoma; Several nieces and nephews and great and great great nieces and nephews.

Two sisters, Ida and Geneva Robertson, and a brother, Martin Robertson, preceded her in death.

Memorial contributions may be the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 332 N. Lauderdale Street, Mailstop 505, Memphis, TN 38105.

Rev. Charles Baggett

Age 79, Lawton - Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday in Cameron Baptist Church with Rev. Monty Baggett, Rev. Mike Tompkins and Rev. Jimmy Lehew, officiating. Rev. Baggett died Thursday in Lawton.

Entombment will be in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.

Rev. Baggett was born May 5, 1928 in Hammon, Oklahoma, to Ted and Willie Pearl (Trent) Baggett. Charles trusted the Lord Jesus as his Saviour and was baptized in the First Baptist Church of Clinton, Oklahoma, as a nine year old boy in August of 1937.

He grew up in and attended school in Clinton until moving with his parents to Oklahoma City in 1941. The family then moved to the S&J Ranch near Wilburton, Oklahoma. He graduated from Wilburton High School in 1946. He was president of his senior class and editor of the WHS “Digger” School yearbook. He was voted by his classmates as “Most Likely to Succeed”. While at Wilburton he surrendered to God’s call to the Gospel Ministry and was licensed to preach the gospel by the First Baptist Church in Wilburton. He was later ordained to the Gospel Ministry by the First Baptist Church of Clinton in March of 1949.

Bro. Baggett attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1950. He then went on to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and graduated with a Master of Divinity Degree in 1954.

He was united in marriage to Ernestine May Robinson on July 20, 1952 in the First Baptist Church of Carmen, Oklahoma, and to this union five children were born. Rev. Baggett pastored eight Southern Baptist churches in Oklahoma and Kansas for almost 59 years. He pastored the Calvary Baptist Church in Lawton from 1963 until 1979 and at the time of his death was the pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in Lawton where he had served as pastor since February 2000.

He served as President of the Pastor’s Conference in the Kansas-Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists and was on the Board of Directors for the Baptist Foundation of KNCSB. He also served for nearly ten years on the Board of Directors for Southwestern Seminary.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; three sons and daughters in law, Michael and Kathy Baggett, Rowlett, Texas, Monty and Sheila Baggett, Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Mitchell and Jeannie Baggett, Lawton; two daughters and sons in law, Tana and Dan Voss, Ramsey, Illinois, and Kara and Mark Ross, Bowling Green, Kentucky; four brothers and sisters in law, Terry and Pat Baggett, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ronald and Annett Baggett, Linden, Texas, James and Lollie Baggett, Oklahoma City, and Trent and Linda Baggett, Sitka, Alaska; 17 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

His parents and a brother, William (Bill) Baggett, preceded him in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to your local home church or to Immanuel Baptist Church, 1314 SW 11th Street, Lawton OK 73501.

MSG (Retired) Robert F. Arvey, Jr.

Age 60, Lawton - Memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel.

Sergeant Arvey died Friday at his residence.

Inurnment with full military honors will be in the Post Cemetery, Fort Sill.

He was born November 26, 1946 in Salisbury, Maryland, to Robert F. and Mary Margaret Arvey, Sr. He grew up in Maryland and graduated high school. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in June of 1964 and was retired in 1990. He was a veteran of Vietnam having served two tours of duty. Following his retirement from the Army he was employed by Civil Service at Fort Sill as a mortuary officer and later worked for the Social Security Administration until his retirement in 2005.

He married Laurie Wheeler on November 18, 2005 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; a daughter and son in law, Dennell and Jay Davis, Nashville, Arkansas; a step son, Kramer Wheeler, Lawton; a grandson, Kolten McCracken; two brothers, Ronnie Arvey, Seattle, Washington, and Ricky Arvey, Boston, Massachusetts.

A brother, Roger, and a sister Robin, preceded him in death.
