Fleta Lee McAlpine

Fleta Lee McAlpine, age 92, passed away August 17, 2005, at English Village Manor in Altus, Oklahoma.
She was born May 29, 1913, in Jackson County to Dovie and Jim Kizzar.
Fleta married Fred F. McAlpine on December 17, 1941 in Seguine, Texas. She retired as a fifth grade school
teacher.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Fleta is survived by her husband, Fred F. McAlpine of the home, one daughter Carol McAlpine.
Graveside service will be held Friday, August 19, 2005, at 10:00am at the Altus City Cemetery, under the
direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Fred F. McAlpine

Major (Ret.) Fred F. McAlpine, age 97, of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2008 to join
his dear wife in Heaven.

He was born December 5, 1910 on a farm near Altus, Oklahoma to John Alexander McAlpine and Minnie
May (Box) McAlpine.

On December 17, 1941 in Seguin, Texas Fred married Fleta Lee Kizziar. She preceded him death August
17,2005.

Fred entered the United States Army June 11,1928 as a private. He served ten years in lower grades and
was then commissioned to First Lieutenant and served in that grade for two years before being promoted to
Captain. He served in that grade during Worl War II, which he fought in Europe. He returned to United States
after that war was over, trained troops for three years, and was promoted to Major and was assigned to Korea.
After the Korean War he returned back to the United States, where he later retired having served over twenty
years. Fred received many awards during his military career including the Bronze Star Medal with “V” device,
Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-
Middle Eastern Campaign Medal (with three Bronze Service Stars), World War II Victory medal, Army of
Occupation Medla (Germany), National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations
Service Medal.

After retirement he and his family lived in Florida for several years, then moved to North Carolina and later
returned to Altus where he and his family made their home.

Fred was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge #62 in Altus, V.F.W. Post #4876 and the American
Legion; and the Highland Heights Methodist Church in Altus.

He is survived by one daughter; Carol F. McAlpine of Brookline, Massachusetts; three sisters, Mary
Worsham of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kathleen Massey of Lakewood, California, Gertrude Hickerson of West
Covina, California; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and his best friend Bobby Laws of Altus,
Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Graveside services for Major (Ret.) Fred F. McAlpine are scheduled for Monday, July 7, 2008 at 10:00 a.
m. at the Altus City Cemetery with Masonic Rites and Full Military Honors officiating will be Bobby Laws.
Arrangements are under the directions of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Neomia V. (Briscoe) McAskill

Neomia V. McAskill, age 88, passed away December 6, 2003 at English Village Manor. She was the
daughter of the late Dan & Mary Briscoe. Neomia was born April 20, 1915 at Doan’s, Texas in the old
adobe home that was later restored by the Texas Historical Society. She was five when the family
moved to the Hess Community where she attended school. She was proud of her scholastic
accomplishments and was a member of the Hess basketball team. After her graduation from Hess
High School, she played one year for the Oklahoma Redheads. Neomia was baptized in the North
Fork River at an early age.

Neomia married Carr (Sprout) McAskill Sept. 7, 1935 in Altus and he preceded her in death in 1977.
They made their First home three miles from Ozark, later buying a farm and moving south of Hess
where they lived until 1972 when they moved to Altus. She was an active member and Sunday School
Teacher at the Hess Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to the First Baptist Church of
Altus where she was a member of the Elizabeth Sunday School Class.

Neomia spent 34 years caring for her daughter Mary Beth who was a victim of Polio from age six.
She dedicated her life to making Mary’s life as full as possible. She never complained and treasured
being a nurse to her daughter.

Neomia was a Godly, courageous, and wise woman who will be missed by all those who knew her.
She loved to study the Bible and share what she learned with others.

Survivors include:

8 Grandchildren: 11 Great-grandchildren

A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Mary Beth McAskill in 1989, two
Brothers, Danny and Guy Briscoe, two sisters, Thressia Easley and Nettie Downing.

Funeral Services for Neomia McAskill are scheduled for 10 AM Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003 at the Lowell-
Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow at the Hess Cemetery.

The family will greet friends, Monday, Dec. 8, 2003 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from 7PM-9PM

Memorials in honor of Neomia McAskill may be made to the Alzheimer’s Research in care of the
Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.

Sam McAskill

Sam McAskill was born Dec. 4, 1911 in the Ozark Community. He was the son of the late Charles and
Katie Clinkscales McAskill. He died Feb. 18, 2004 in Altus.
Sam married Elizabeth Minor, March 11, 1940 in Altus. He served in the UNITED States Army
overseas during World War II and was honorably discharged. He was a life long resident of Jackson
County. He worked with the Bureau of Reclamation and participated on the lake Altus Lugart project.
He attended the First Baptist Church, a life member of the Elks Club, and was a very active member of
various farming organizations. He was a farmer and rancher for most of his life.

Memorials in honor of Sam McAskill may be made to Western Trails Historical Society, the Mac
Mollison Scholarship Fund, or to the First Baptist Youth Fund.

Raymond McBlain

Raymond McBlain, age 26, a resident of Altus since 1995, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday,
January 27, 2009 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.

Raymond was born in Bitburg, Germany on October 12, 1982 to Franklin A. and Ling Lih McBlain. Raymond
was a member of the Highland Heights United Methodist Church in Altus and he worked at Foxes Building
Supply in Farm and Ranch Supplies. On October 14, 2006 Raymond married Diana L. Boyce at the Oklahoma
City Fair Grounds during the Morgan Grand National Horse Show where their horse competed. He graduated
from Oklahoma State University in May of 2008 and earned his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Animal Science
with an emphasis in Ranch Operations. He was a member of the Oklahoma State University Alumni Association
and the American Quarter Horse Association. Raymond enjoyed working on the family farm and he loved
animals especially his horses, cows, cats, and dogs. Raymond loved his wife Diana and enjoyed being with her
and traveling together whenever they could. He liked target shooting and diesel trucks and being the all-
American cowboy. He will be missed very much.

Preceded in death by his grandmother Jennie Elizabeth McBlain; Raymond is survived by his wife Diana L.
McBlain of the home; his parents, Franklin A. and Ling Lih McBlain of Altus; one brother Shawn McBlain and his
wife Marie of Stillwater; one half-brother, Franklin McBlain and his wife Tracy of San Antonio, Texas; two half-
sisters, Beth Allyn Eberhart and her husband Mike of Salt Lake City, Utah; Wendy Cordell and her husband Joe
Joe of Elgin, Oklahoma; numerous other relatives and many friends.

Memorial Services will be at 2 pm, Saturday January 31, 2009 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with
Reverend Brett Thomasson and Reverend Charles Stewart officiating. Under the direction of Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home of Altus.

Alda Bea McCarver

Alda Bea McCarver, age 70 of Altus, passed away October 27, 2003 at Jackson County Memorial
Hospital. Services, under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus, are set for 10:30 A.M.,
Wednesday, October 29, 2003 at the Church of the Nazarene in Altus. The Rev. Gary Bohannan will
officiate and interment will follow at the Gould Cemetery.

Alda was born on September 4, 1933 at Gould, Oklahoma to her parents, the Rev. James Miranda and
Hattie Oakley Mathis Miranda. She attended area schools, and on June 1, 1951 was united in marriage
to JR McCarver at Hollis. They enjoyed many years of marriage. Alda was a member of the Church of
Nazarene in Altus, where she taught Sunday School and was on the Church Board. She was also a
volunteer with the Jackson County Election Board.

She was preceded in death by her husband, JR McCarver and her parents. Alda is survived by her
children, Pam McCarver of Altus and Bruce McCarver and wife, Sharon of Hollis; four brothers, Charles
Miranda and wife, Ann, of Conway, Arkansas, Odell Miranda and wife, Ada Lou, of Gould, Ernest
Miranda of Altus, Darrell Miranda of Chandler, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Derek McCarver of
Weatherford, Oklahoma and Carla McCarver of Hollis and a host of other relatives and friends

Helen Irene McClure

Helen Irene McClure, age 91 of Altus, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2006, at Jackson County
Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. McClure was born on November 24, 1915, to A. V. and Carrie Ann (Hester) Morris. Coming to the Victory,
Oklahoma area in 1917, she lived most of her life in that community, west of Altus. She married Claud Ivan
McClure on December 24, 1937, and he preceded her in death on October 5, 1980. A long-time member of
the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ, Mrs. McClure enjoyed embroidering and quilting, but most of all she
enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six brothers, one sister, two children, Melvin Lee McClure and
Clynell Key, she is survived by three children, Clayton McClure of Lufkin, Texas, Dewayne McClure of Moore,
Oklahoma and Darla McClure of Grand Prairie, Texas; one brother, Hartsell Morris and wife Dee of Altus,
Hildred Jana of Florida, Henrietta Houck of Oklahoma City and Hoylene White of Oklahoma City; nine
grandchildren; three step grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; seven
step great-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Helen Irene McClure will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2006, at the Victory
Cemetery with Tom Bailey officiating. Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus is in charge of arrangements.

McCLURE

Cora Mae E. McClure, age 94 of Altus, passed away late Friday evening, November 17, 2006, at Jackson
County Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. McClure was born on August 4, 1912, in Johnson City, Tennessee to William W. and Lilah (Bowers)
Elswick. She married Fred McClure on October 10, 1952, in Lake Charles, Louisiana and he passed away on
December 30, 1986.

A member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Mrs. McClure worked in the nursery for over
thirty years. Shopping, going to church and spending time with her family and friends were her favorite
pastimes.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; one grandson, Philip Land in 1999; two sisters, Helen
Arrowood and Martha Roberts and two brothers, George D. Elswick and Billy Joe Elswick, she is survived by one
daughter, Delorese Land and husband Bobby of Altus, Oklahoma; one grandson, Bobby Gregory Land of
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one great granddaughter, Marielle Land Howard of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one
great grandson, Christopher Paul Land of Lexington, Oklahoma; two step granddaughters, Melissa Chism and
husband David of North Carolina and Linda Hoffpauir of Lake Charles, Louisiana along with many other
relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Cora McClure will be held on Monday, November 20, 2006, at 2 p.m. at the Altus City
Cemetery with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Services are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the American Alzheimer Association.

McCLUSKY

Estella Ann McClusky, age 76, of Blair, passed away late Thursday evening, June 12, 2008, at her home East of
Blair.

Stella was born on March 1, 1932, in Great Falls, Montana, to Jesse W. and Helen G. (Miley) Coady and lived in
Ft. Benton, Montana for several years with her parents while she attended school. Shortly after graduation, she
married Lewis Raymond McClusky, on October 28, 1950, at Ft. Benton, while he was stationed there in the U.S.
Air Force. In 1960, they moved to San Francisco where they lived until 1989, when they moved to Oklahoma to
be near their daughters and families and especially the grandchildren. After forty-four wonderful years of
marriage, Lewis passed away on May 13, 1995.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, James Coady; two infant daughters,
Debbie and Cindy McClusky; one son, John Gregory McClusky, one son-in-law, Eddie Garvin and two infant
grandchildren, John Winans and Emily Winans. She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Winans and husband
Mark of Kingfisher and Shelly Garvin of Blair; one son, Douglas McClusky of Memphis, Tennessee; ten
grandchildren, Rebecca Lambrecht of Enid, Brandi Lyn Parker and husband Neil of Kingfisher, Scott Garvin and
wife Rachel of Leavenworth, Kansas, Timothy Winans of Kingfisher, Ashley Winans of Kingfisher, Michelle
Downing and husband Justin of Blair, Melissa Fixico and husband Dustin of Yukon, Shawn Garvin of Norman,
Dustin McClusky of Oregon and Billie McClusky of Oregon; seven great grandchildren, Ava Lunsford of Enid,
Jude Lunsford of Enid, Kristopher Grant of Kingfisher, Kolby Gilbert of Kingfisher, Taylor Thompson of
Leavenworth, Kansas, Dawson Garvin of Leavenworth, Kansas and Allison Garvin of Leavenworth; one brother,
John Coady of Las Vegas, Nevada along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

The family will greet friends on Monday, June 16, 2008, from 6 until 7 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. A
rosary will be conducted at Prince of Peace Catholic Church at 7 p.m., Monday, June 16, 2008. A funeral mass
will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Joseph
Arledge officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in Ft. Benton, Montana. Services are under the direction
of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
