Maude Marie Russell

Maude Marie Russell, of Stillwater and formerly a resident of Altus for many years, was born September 20, 1912
in Missouri to Daniel Jefferson Scott and Maude Ethel (Paden) Scott and died May 6, 2005 at Renaissance
Assisted Living Center, Stillwater, Oklahoma at the age of 92, 7 months and 16 days.
She married Clyde Gillespie Russell on June 1, 1933 in Ironton, MO. They were married by Maude Marie’s father
Rev. D.J. Scott in the Scott home. On June 1, 1983 Maude Marie and Clyde celebrated their Golden Wedding
Anniversary together at the BSU in Altus.
Maude Marie and Clyde me at Southwestern Missouri Baptist College at Bolivar, MO. The following year she went
to school at Hannibal, MO and attended 2 summer terms in the State Teachers College at Warrensburg, MO She
was 19 when she started teaching and taught at Higginsville, MO for 3 years in a one room school house. She
had 40 pupils-37 boys and 3 girls. She boarded with a German family and walked 1 1/4 miles to school every day,
rain or snow.
Maude Marie was always very active in the First Baptist Church of Altus serving on many committee’s, active in the
Prayer Room Ministry, worked with the Singles group and she started the Coffee House on South Main which
evolved into the BSU at the Jr. College. She was chosen All Church Sweetheart. She was a member of Erolethian
Club and was instrumental in helping bring the artist DeGrazia to Altus for a fund raiser that was quite a success.
Maude Marie and Clyde enjoyed traveling. They attended The National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C.
where the Rev. Billy Graham gave the opening prayer and Bishop Fulton Sheen delivered the message followed
with an address by President Carter. They were especially interested in welcoming newcomers to church and
Altus opening their home for entertaining often; both truly loved people and were gracious hosts.
Maude Marie and Clyde were selected as Mr. and Mrs. Western Trails in Altus and were always wonderful
ambassadors for Altus.
Maude Marie is survived by two sons, Dr. Clyde Scott Russell and wife Maggie of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Dr. Rex
Daniel Russell and wife Judy of Ft. Smith AR; one sister, Catherine Brent of Klamath Falls, OR, three sister-in-
laws, Betty Scott of Mesquite, TX, Elizabeth Clay of Booneville, MO and Hilda Russell of N.Y.; four grandchildren,
Megan Moody and husband G.T., Kristen Josey and husband Kenny, all from Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Rodney
Russell and wife Rae of Fayetteville, AR.., and Randy Russell of Nashville, TN.; four great-grandchildren, Daireth
Holleymand, Ryan Scott Josey and Kiley Josey, all of Stillwater and Reagan Russel of Tulsa, Oklahoma; nieces,
Chloe Hopkins of Klamath Falls, OR ., and Lynn Brendlen of Saratoga, CA.; nephews, Jeff Brent of Portland, OR.,
Thomas Scott Russell of N.Y., Dr. Stephen Russell of CA., Stephen Clay of Carthage, MO., and Stanley Clay of
Columbia, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. D.J. Scott, her husband, Dr. C.G. Russell, an infant
brother and brother, Ross Scott as well as one niece Kathy Scott Krajea.
Services will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Wiginton
officiating. Under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The First Baptist Church of Altus, the Altus library or the OSU
Foundation or to the Charity of your choice..
A family visitation will be held from 6:30 until 8:00 pm on Monday, May 9, 2005 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Bruce Rutherford

Bruce Rutherford, 46, passed away suddenly at his home in Oklahoma, on December 11, 2007.

Bruce was born March 12, 1961, in Wright County, Iowa, to Lloyd Rutherford and Joan (Hollinger) Thome Snow.
He married Lisa Edgell and they had many happy years together before her death on July 30, 2006.

Bruce served his country in the United States Air Force for twenty years before his retirement in 2002. He then
began his career in Civil Service at the Altus Air Force Base where he was currently employed.

He is sirvived by twin sons, Andrew and Alec Rutherford, of the home in Altus; his parents, Lloyd Rutherford of
Maplewood, Minnesota, and Joan Thome Snow of Yuma, Arizona; one brother, Robert Wood of Little Canada,
Minnesota; one sister, Julie Morrison and husband Arthur of Quincy, Michigan; two nieces, Amanda and Kelsey
Wood, both of Angola, Indiana; two nephews, Arthur Carl Morrison and John William Morrison, both of Quincy,
Michigan; mother-in-law, Sandy and Willie Shaw of Altus; and seven step-brothers and step-sisters.

Funeral Services for Bruce Rutherford will be 2:00 pm Saturday, Dec 15, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Chapel under
the directions of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Lisa Michelle Rutherford

Lisa Michelle Edgell Rutherford, age 39, passed from this life Sunday, July 30, 2006, following a brief illness.

She was born February 7, 1967, to Ray Edgell and Sandra Edgell in Houston, Texas.

Lisa would do anything for anyone, she loved being with her family and friends.

She survived by her husband, Bruce Rutherford and twin sons, Alec and Andrew of the home; her parents, Sandra and Willie Shaw of Altus, and Ray and Shirley Edgell of Houston, her brothers and sisters, Raymond Edgell, Kim and Sheila Edgell, and Michael, Michelle and Kelly Edgell; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of loving friends.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2006 at 10:00 am at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

The family will greet guest Tuesday, August 2, 2006 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Marble Ruth Rutledge

Mable Ruth Rutledge age, 78, passed away November 21, 2004 at Norman Regional Hospital.
She was born December 21 1925 to Joseph Laffated and Ida Mae (Ward) Beauckamp in Clarksville, Texas.
Mable married Reginald e. Rutledge he preceded her in death July 3, 1988
Mable enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her family.
She is survived by three sons; Johnnie Rutledge and wife Jackie of Altus, Oklahoma, Joe Rutledge of Norman,
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Gary Rutledge of Edmond, Oklahoma, three sister; Ruby Omealy of Ozark,
Alabama, Zona Farmer of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Odessa Mills of Altus, Oklahoma, several grandchildren
and great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, Reginald E. Rutledge, three brothers.
Graveside service will be held Friday, November 26, 2004 at 2:00pm at the Altus City Cemetery. Under the
direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

SAINDON

Mary Saindon, age 70, passed away Friday, December 9, 2005, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus,
Oklahoma.

Mary was born on April 28, 1935 in El Paso, Texas to Edward and Francisca Day. She married Donald Saindon on
August 12, 1950 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Mary was an active member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church
where she was involved in several ministries. Mary was a Red Cross Volunteer, a former den mother to both the Boy
and Girl Scouts and taught religious education at Prince of Peace. Mary was also one of the first volunteers for the
ACME House when it was opened in Altus. She was the Regent for the local chapter of the Catholic Daughters of
the Americas. There was nothing more important to Mary than her family, both the immediate and the extended
family. She loved children and welcomed all to her home. Her kindness and love flowed throughout all of Altus.
Mary was “Mom, Grandma, or Nana to all”.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, E.L. and Francisca Day, brothers, Raymond, Eddie and Bobby Day.
She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Saindon, of 54 years; two sons, Michael and wife Jeannie of Florissant,
Missouri, Pat and wife Dawn of Portage des Sioux, Missouri and two daughters; Frances Morris and husband John of
Swannanoa, North Caroliana, Debbie Brzozowski and husband Raymond of Altus; eleven grandchildren, Chris
Morris and wife Nikia, Susan Padgett and husband Nathan, Anna, Darlene and Travina Saindon, Stephanie and
Thomas Rady, Joel, Emily, Olivia and Evan Saindon; three great-grandchildren Chris Johnson-Morris, Jewlra Rady
and Alexa Padgett; one sister Helen Vellios and husband George of Palmdale, California.

A Prayer Vigil will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday, December 11, 2005 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Altus. A
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, December 12, 2005 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father
Joe Arledge officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral
Home of Altus.

The family of Mary Saindon will greet friends at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from 2 until 4 p.m., Sunday, December
11, 2005.

The family has asked that memorials be made to the Catholic Daughters of the Americas in memory of Mary Saindon.

Beverly Jean Salaiz

Beverly Jean Salaiz, 60, of Altus died Saturday morning, Nov. 4, 2006 at Intergis Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City.
She was born Dec. 9, 1945, at Silver City N.M. to John William Thayer and Lyndia Dean (Pascoe) Norvell. She
moved to Altus in 1988 and was a faithful member of the Thomas Street Church of Christ where she was involved im
many ministries. She enjoyed working with puzzles and cooking, but most of all she loved spending time with her
family and friends.
She was prececed in death by her parents; and one son, Michael Salaiz, in 1966.
She is survived by three children, Lydia Salaiz, of Altus, Brian Norvell of Altus and Erik Salaiz of Tennesse; one
brother, J.W. Norvell and wife Karel of Silver City; four sisters, Fay Stinson of Tennessse, Sylvia Flores and husband
Henry of Anaheim, Calif. Bonnie Bodmer and husband Charles of Steward, Ill. and Eunice Norvell of Silver City’ Two
special families, Steve and Barbie Blake and Blair Rowland, and Steve and Sherri Ross and family ; along with many
nieces, nephews cousins and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Thomas Street Church of Christ with Matt Springfield
officiating. Arrangments are with Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.

Tony Sanchez

Antonio “Tony” M. Sanchez, age 74, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 7, 2011, at
Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.

Tony was born May 10, 1936, in McAllen, Texas, to José and Paulina (Montalvo) Sanchez. On April
21, 1954, he married the love of his life, Criselda Canales in Rio Grande, Texas. To this union, they
had ten children. After moving to Altus, Tony worked as a mechanic. Tony enjoyed spending time
with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, working in the yard, watching football, and loved
listening to music.

Tony was preceded in death by his father, José Sanchez, his mother, Paulina Sanchez, two brothers,
Juan Sanchez and Esteban Sanchez, and one sister, Delia Estraca.

He is survived by his wife, Criselda Sanchez of Altus; four sons, Bernie Sanchez of Altus, Jessie
Sanchez and Linda of Altus, Tony “B” Sanchez, Jr. and wife Yamel of Altus, and Ronnie Sanchez
and wife Wendy of Moore, Oklahoma; three daughters, Melba Cerda and husband Chris of Altus,
Linda “Mattie” Lopez and husband Elias of Olustee, and Lori Dehtan and husband Buddy of
Eldorado; four brothers, José Sanchez, Tino Sanchez, Pete Sanchez, and Thomas Sanchez; four
sisters, Amelia Guerra, Blanche Flores, Maria Hinojosa, and Janie Kimble; twenty-four grandchildren,
Christina, Leo, Kendra, Mitzi, Jennifer, Joe, Jacob, Priscilla, Adriana, Vanessa, Robert Ray, Shabrail,
Mariah, Landon, Nathan, Lyndsey, Jonathan, Tyler, Jessica, Shyanne, Dylan, Rylee, Brookelyn, and
Brodie; twenty-nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Cancer Society, the
American Heart Association, of the charity of one's choice.

Memorial Services for Tony Sanchez will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 11, 2011, at the
Emmanuel Baptist Church in Altus with Reverend Boyd Whitehead officiating. Arrangements are
under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Phillippia Chanel Sanders-Harris

Phillippia Chanel Sanders-Harris, age 24 passed away September 6, 2005, in Evans, GA.
She was born August 10, 1981, in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky to Phillip Sanders and Barbara Sanders.
Chanel had lived in Evans, Georgia for the last 3 1/2 years. She graduated from Eisenhower High School in
Lawton, Oklahoma, and attended Cameron University. Her life enjoyment was raising her son Marquise. She had
several hobbies she enjoyed especially reading, fishing, all kinds of animals, especially dogs .Having been saved and
baptized at an early age, she attended Tabernacle Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia and Friendship Baptist
Church in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Chanel is survived by her son, Marquise L. Harris; mother and step-father, Barbara and Ronnie Lofton, Sr. of
Evans, Georgia; Father Phillip Sanders, of Altus, Oklahoma; one sister, Jasmine Britton, of Evans Georgia; one
step-sister, Teeleth Link, of Alaska; four step-brothers, Craig Lofton of California, Ronnie Lofton, Jr. of Green
Bay, Wisconsin, Terrence Lofton, of Indiana, Christopher Lofton, of Duncan, Oklahoma; Maternal grandparents,
Willie and Sherry Dykes of Altus, Oklahoma, Robert Williams of Vernon, Texas; Paternal grandfather Charles
Sanders of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and many
friends. Chanel is preceded in death by her Pa-Pa. Rev. Theron Booker, Corine Fields, Dempy Fields and Johnny
Williams, Charles Sanders Jr.
Funeral Service for Phillippia “Chanel” Sanders Harris is scheduled for Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at 1:00 P.M.
at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor LeRoy Adams, Jr. and Rev. Robert Bostic officiating. Interment
will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Maria Nieves Sarabia

Maria Nieves Sarabia went to be with her lord on Sunday, January 4, 2004 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
She was born August 4, 1940 in Hondo, Texas to Cecil and Senona (Lara) Sarabia. Maria had lived in the Altus and
Jackson County area since 1958.
Maria worked for over twenty years as a cook at the Eldorado Public Schools until she retired. She was a member of
the Trinity Baptist Church in Altus. After retirement Maria enjoyed spending time with her daughter and
granddaughter. They especially enjoyed going to the movies and shopping. Maria passed her love and knowledge of
crocheting and sewing to her granddaughter as well. She will be loved and missed as the wonderful mother and
grandmother that she was.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Senona Sanchez in 1984; her father Cecil Sarabia in 1993; her
step-father, Jose Sanches, Sr. in 1994; two grandsons, Jonathan Paul Sarabia in 1990 and Thomas Lynn Sarabia in
1994.
Maria is lovingly survived by a daughter, Rachel Lorene Sarabia of Altus, Oklahoma; a granddaughter, Gina Sarabia
of Altus; two brothers, Paul Sanchez and Jose Sanchez and wife, Angie, of Altus; two sisters, Anita Armstrong and
husband, Mike, of Altus; and Maria Greshay and husband, Jim of Virginia; and by several nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
Services have been scheduled for 2:00 pm, Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. C.W.
Parker and Rev. Boyd Whitehead officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of
Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The Family will be receiving guests Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.

Sawyer

James Christopher Sawyer, age 38, of Lawton, Oklahoma, passed away January 13, 2009 in Lawton.
James was born May 21, 1970 in Altus, Oklahoma. He was the son of Janice Thomas and James D. Sawyer. He
was a veteran having proudly served during Desert Storm with the United States Army. After his release from the
military, he was studying to become a Graphic Designer. He was currently working in the construction field in Lawton
where he could be close to his son.
Mr. Sawyer was preceded in death by his younger brother, Tracy Lee Sawyer.
He is lovingly survived by his mother, Janice Thomas of Somersworth, New Hampshire; his father, James D. Sawyer
of Florida; one son, James David “J.D.” Sawyer of Lawton, Oklahoma; one daughter, Francesca Sawyer of Maine;
two sisters, Barbara Ellen Sawyer of Tampa, Florida and Jennifer Linn Somersworth, New Hampshire; and by many
aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 2009, at Lowell-Tims Chapel with David Stewart
officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
