Thelma Frances Shumaker

Thelma Frances Shumaker, age 91, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2004, at Grace Living Center in Altus,
Oklahoma.
Thelma was born November 10, 1912 in Eldorado, Oklahoma, to Frank and Kate Easley and graduated from
Midway High School. Thelma married Dillon H. Shumaker Jan 14, 1936 in Altus, Oklahoma. He preceded her in
death June 20, 1967.
Thelma was a member of the Eldorado Church of the Nazarene and the Eldorado Historical Society. She enjoyed
traveling, quilting, painting, music and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents and husband Dillon. She is lovely survived by one son Milton
Shumaker and wife Barbara of Eldorado, Oklahoma, one daughter, Yvonne Pepper and husband LaVere of
Johnson, Kansas, three grandchildren, Allyn Pepper and wife Karen of Yukon, Oklahoma, Raylon Shumaker and
wife Michelle of Eldorado, Oklahoma, Kristi Mikles and husband Kevin of Wiesbaden Germany, Six
great-grandchildren, Keil and Kendra Pepper of Yukon Oklahoma, Katelynn, Kriston, and Kelby Shumaker of
Eldorado, Oklahoma, and Amy Mikles of Wiesbaden, Germany. One sister Katherine Freeman of Altus, Oklahoma
and two brothers, Gordon Easley of Alma, Arkansas and Lawton Easley of Van Horn, Texas.
Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, 10:00 am, April 20, 2004 at the Eldorado Cemetery. Arrangements are
under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family will received friends Monday, April 19, 2004 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Eldorado Chapel.
Memorial can be made to the Gideons International or to your favorite charity.

Howard Wayne Shutt

Howard Wayne Shutt, age 86, of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Jackson
County Memorial Hospital in Altus.

He was born January 18, 1922, in Columbus, Kansas, to Zora Bell (Smith) Shutt and George Graham Shutt.

Howard lived in Columbus, Kansas, for many years before moving to Altus.

He had served his country with the Army Air Corp and was honorably discharged.

Howard and Mattie Harris were united in marriage May 10, 1974, in Altus, Oklahoma. Howard worked at
Altus Air Force Base with Civil Service where he was the Fire Chief for the base. He retired January 31, 1978.
Howard was a longtime member of the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge in Columbus, Kansas, and the
National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mattie, of the home in Altus, Oklahoma; two sons, George F. Shutt of
Ephrata, Washington, Wayne H. Shutt and wife Trudy of Graham, Washington, and one daughter, Sheryll Etheridge
and husband Mike of Edmond, Oklahoma. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and
many friends.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Graveside Services for Howard Wayne Shutt are scheduled for Sunday, May 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at
the Edgmand Cemetery in Columbus, Kansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

SIFFORD

Dorothy Irene Sifford, age 91 of Seiling, Oklahoma and formerly of Eldorado, passed away Wednesday afternoon,
September 28, 2006 at the Seiling Nursing Center.

Dorothy was born on May 21, 1915, at Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma to Jacob Bingham and Susie L. (King) Robnett. A
member of the First United Methodist Church of Eldorado, Dorothy was retired from Civil Service, a member of the
VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Eldorado Lions Club and a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club.
Moving from Lawton to Eldorado in 1925, she married Stults Holder on May 16, 1935, and he died on December
25, 1954. On November 6, 1959, she married Robert “Buck” Sifford and they had forty-five wonderful years
together before his death in 2005.

Preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Buford M. Robnett, Edward L. Robnett, Alfred Robnett and
Alvie A. Robnett, Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Nelda Sue Fagan of Seiling; two grandsons and four great-
grandchildren, Collin Fagan and wife Melissa, his son, Connor and step children, Jonathan Kronk and Victoria
Coleman of Taft, Texas and Brendan Fagan and wife Jenny and his son, Bradan of Elk City, Oklahoma along with
numerous nieces and nephews and their families and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Dorothy Irene Sifford will be Saturday, September 30, 2006, at 2 p.m. at the Eldorado First
Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Mitchell and Rev. Pete Wylie officiating. Interment will follow at the Eldorado
Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Eldorado.

Ella Mae Sifford

Ella Mae (Burch) Carter Sifford, 98, passed away early Saturday morning, January 27, 2007, at the Colonial
Manor II Nursing Home in Hollis, Oklahoma.
Ella, the second of nine children, was born July 1, 1908, in Bromide, Oklahoma, to Benjamin Franklin and Ola
(Bates) Burch. During her childhood, she lived with her family in Roby, Texas, and in South Texas. In 1916, they
moved to Olustee, Oklahoma, and it was there that Ella spend most of her childhood with her seven brothers and
one sister. She helped in the home and with the field work. Ella attended school at both Olustee and Aaron, a
country school. In 1927, she won a string of pearls for being “most popular” with the community and friends.
Ella and Ray (Sailor) Carter were united in marriage in 1928 and to this union one child, Norma Sue Carter
Robinson, was born.
In 1933, Ella was converted and joined the Baptist Church in Olustee. She worked in the church in Ravia,
Oklahoma, by teaching both youth and adult Sunday School classes.
In 1936, the family moved to Hollis, but during World War II, they worked in defense plants in Michigan and
Borger, Texas. After the war, the family again lived in Hollis for several years before moving to Tishomingo,
Oklahoma, where they worked for 18 years on an Angus ranch owned by Ella’s brother, Clarence Burch.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1972. In 1974, Ella married Reverend Edward G. Sifford of Olustee. They
lived in Cheyenne, Waurika, and Erick, Oklahoma, until Ed’s retirement from the ministry in 1981, at which time
they moved to Hollis.
Ella joined the Methodist Church with her husband and had been a member of the First United Methodist Church
of Hollis since 1981.
Ella met everyone with a hug and a smile. She possessed a quick wit and an incredible sense of humor. She
embraced life with zeal and enthusiasm and her generosity and compassion touched many.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Sifford; son-in-law, Carl Robinson; sister, Pearl Royal;
brothers, Clarence Burch, Arthur Burch, Jess Burch, Dave Burch, and Bennie Burch.
Ella is survived by her daughter, Sue Robinson of Hollis; three grandsons, Gary and wife Judy, Roger and wife
Kathy, all of Hollis, and Ed and wife Janna of Yukon; two step-daughters, Dana Zerger and Jessie Feather; two
step-sons, Eddie Sifford and Kenny Sifford; brothers A.W. “Buddy” Burch and wife Edith of Hollis, and Tom
Burch of Purcell; sister-in-law, Lula Mae Ridlehuber; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren;
and a host of nephews and nieces.

Funeral Services for Ella Sifford will be 10:30 am, Monday, January 29, 2007, at the First United Methodist
Church in Hollis with Reverend Sally Barber and Reverend George Isbell officiating. Interment will follow at the
Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis under the direction of our funeral home in Hollis, Patterson Greer Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 224 N. 2nd, Hollis, OK 73550 in
Memory of Ella Sifford.

SIFFORD

Martha Jean Simon

Martha Jean Simon, 84, Altus, Oklahoma, formerly of Oklahoma City, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2004, at
Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus. A celebration of her life will be held at 11am Wednesday, October 27,
2004, in the Hahn-Cook Street & Draper Funeral Home in Oklahoma City. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill
Cemetery.
Martha Jean Swickey was born to Margaret and Charles Arthur Swickey on November 10, 1919, in Smithton,
Pennsylvania. She moved to Colgate, Oklahoma, in 1928 and after high school graduation, Martha attended Hills
Business College in Oklahoma City. Matha met Richard Simon, they married, and raised four children, Margearet
Ann Worrell, Nancy Carol Hill, Richard R. Simon and Danny Carl Simon. For many years, Richard and Martha
owned and operated Simon’s Men & Boy’s Wear in Oklahoma City. Matha was a member of the St. Andrew’s
Presbyterian Church where she was head of the worship committee for several years and always baked a special
bread for communion. Martha enjoyed sewing, cooking, playing bridge, reading, working crossword puzzles,
walking and visiting with neighbors. Her family was always her main priority.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard of 59 years, and her beloved brother, Melvin
Swickey.
She is survived by children and spouses, Margaret & Harold Worrell, Altus; Nancy & Gary Hill, Oklahoma City;
Ricky & Terry Simon, Waco, Texas; and Danny & Connie Simon, Allen, Oklahoma; grandchildren Mitch & Lisa
Worrell, Mike Worrell, & former granddaughter-in-law, Suzanne Worrell Thornton, Tony Hill, Tina Hill, Jennifer &
Brain Houston, Jill Simon, Jonathan & Jessica Phillips, Jessica Simon, Jacob Simon, Jeanett Simon, Ead & Lana
Simon, Miya & Trent Miller, Dax & Gina Simon, Kale Simon & fiance, Timilyn Haller, and Keanon Simon; great
greatchildren Chance Worrell, Sidney Worrell, Jeffrey Worrell, Alyssa Worrell, Katy Hill, Rayna Houston, Cooper
Simon, Coby Simon, Camden Simon, Trenity Miller and Lex Simon.
Memorials can be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City or First Presbyterian Church in
Altus.
Mrs. Simon will lie in state Monday, October 25, 2004 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends at Hahn-Cook Street & Draper Funeral Home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from 6:00
to 7:30 pm Tuesday October 26, 2004.
Lowell-Tims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jearld (Jerry) Roy Simmons

Jearld (Jerry) Roy Simmons went to be with the Lord on May 1, 2004. Born June 5, 1938 in Princeton, IN to Hazel
Pauley Simmons and Herschel Roy Simmons, he had no brothers or sisters. He graduated from Princeton High
School in 1957. While in school he played in the band and often talked of the year the band marched and played at
Mardi Gras in Louisiana. As a child and young adult he was active in the Nazarene Church.
Jerry is survived by his wife Alene, one son Jason R. Simmons of Oklahoma City, one daughter, Joy R. Finch and
her family, husband Jason L. Finch and their children Cheyanne R. Finch, Kaycee L. Finch, and Kayla C. Hill all of
Charleston, SC; also, his step brother and his wife David & Marilyn Niehaus, and their family, Andy, Greta, and
Matt, all of Bellvue, WA. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, father, and step-father Leonard (Jack) Niehaus.
After 2 years of college in Evansville, IN, Jerry joined the Air Force in 1959 retiring in 1984. He was stationed in
Blytheville AFB, AR, Eglin AFB, FL, Ellsworth AFB, SD, Kadena AFB, Okinawa, and Altus AFB, OK.
He met his wife, Alene, while stationed at Blytheville, AR. They were married March 31, 1963 at Beacon Baptist
Church.
He was an avid model railroader, he helped establish the model railroad club at Ft. Buckner Okinawa and was very
proud of his HO gauge collection.
He was a member of Headrick Baptist Church and was music director for several years. Upon retirement from the
Air Force he worked on a construction crew for the railroad and also was proud of the fact that he help turn highway
62 into a 4 lane highway. He drove the school bus for Navajo School District and the activity bus for WOSC for
several years. He was part owner and technician for D&J’s Computer Hospital.
Jerry was very concerned for the town of Headrick. During the 30 years he lived there he was a volunteer fireman,
read the water meters, acted on the town council and served as both the town clerk and mayor. He was a Mason
and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Funeral Services for Jerry Simmons are scheduled for Thursday, May 6, 2004 at 3:00 P.M. in the Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tyler McDowell officiating. Interment will follow at the Headrick Cemetery under
the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family of Jerry Simmons will greet friends Wednesday evening May 5, 2004 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Lowell-
Tims Funeral Home.

Simpson

Crystal Rose Simpson, age 57, of Oklahoma City and formerly of Altus, passed away at her home, in Oklahoma
City, on Saturday, June 27, 2009.

Born in Altus on July 20, 1951, to Charles and Mary (Hudson) Abernathy, Crystal graduated from Altus High
School in 1969. After graduation, she attended Oklahoma University and Southwestern Oklahoma State
University before moving to Phoenix, Arizona where she worked as a legal assistant. After moving back to Altus
in the late 70’s, she completed her degree at Cameron University, in Lawton, and met the love of her life, Pat
Simpson. They were married on March 13, 1982, in Altus, and spent the next twenty-seven wonderful years
together before her death. After their marriage, Crystal and Pat owned and operated the Crystal Rose Restaurant
and Crystal’s Restaurant, in the Ramada Inn. Crystal later worked at Western Oklahoma State College and
owned the Diet Center in Altus before moving to Charleston, South Carolina in 1994. In November 2006, Crystal
and Pat moved to Oklahoma City where they made their home until her death. Crystal loved watching Law and
Order, reading and spending time with her family and friends.

Crystal is survived by her husband, Pat, of the home; her parents, Charles and Mary Abernathy of Altus; one
brother, Clint Abernathy and wife Kim of Altus; two step-children, Zack Simpson and wife Jasmine of Sachse,
Texas and Tricia Johnson and husband Kai of Carrollton, Texas; three step-grandchildren, Jaxon Simpson of
Sachse, Texas, Jake Johnson and Dane Johnson of Carrollton, Texas along with many nieces, nephews, cousins,
other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Crystal Rose Simpson will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Lowell-Tims Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. David Player officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the
direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

The family will greet friends on Tuesday morning from 9 until 10 a.m., just before the service.
