STOUT

Thelma Faye Stout, age 95 of Altus, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Baptist Medical Center in
Oklahoma City.

Mrs. Stout was born on July 22, 1911 in Carnegie, Oklahoma to Thomas Francis and Ida May (Blundell) Vaughn.
Moving to Southwest Oklahoma from California in the late 1940’s, she and her husband, Glen, began farming with
his dad. After Glen’s death in 1984, Thelma continued the farming operation for several years. An active member
of the First United Methodist Church, Thelma enjoyed playing Canasta at any opportunity, was president of her
flower club, learned the game of golf at age fifty and was very good at the game and was a longtime member of the
Elks Golf and County Club of Altus.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Barbara Jean Sanders in 1997, one sister and three
brothers, she is survived by three grandchildren, Stephanie Sanders of San Rafael, California, Kimberly
McCullough of Charlottesville, Virginia and Derek Sanders and wife Michelle of New York City, New York; two
great grandchildren, Madison Faye McCullough of Charlottesville, Virginia and Vaughn Derek Sanders of New
York City, New York; a son-in-law, Marvin Sanders of Charlottesville, Virginia and many other relatives and
friends.

Funeral services for Thelma Faye Stout will be Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the First United
Methodist Church in Altus with Rev. David Player officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery under the
direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

The family of Thelma Faye Stout will greet friends from 6 until 7 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home on Tuesday,
August 29, 2006.

Lionel Dwayne Stowers

Lionel Dwayne Stowers, age 75, a lifelong resident of Retrop, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2007 in Norman.

Lionel was born on November 12, 1931 in Retrop to Wallace and Tama (Davis) Stowers. On February 25, 1953
Lionel married Phyllis Lynn Cothran in Stillwater and they were married 54 years before his death. Lionel graduated
form Oklahoma A&M University was a Farmer and Rancher in Retrop. He was a member of the United Methodist
Church of Sentinel. In his younger years he was a great handyman, he could fix the farm equipment and anything around
the house. Lionel had a great sense of humor and he really enjoyed working and taking care of his cattle. He loved his
family and looked forward to family gatherings. Lionel was a great husband, father, and friend and will be missed very
much.

Preceding Lionel in death were his parents, Wallace and Tama Stowers; one brother, Aubrey Stowers; and one sister
Oretta Kennemer.

Lionel is survived by his wife Phyllis of the home; three children, Michael Dwayne Stowers and wife Cindy of Cordell;
Jen Anne Kemp and husband Steve of McKinney, Texas; Vicki Lynn Anderson and husband Jeff of Syracuse, New
York; one brother, Lendell Stowers and wife Jean of Retrop; nine grandchildren, Matt Stowers and wife Lori, Mindy,
and Mark Stowers; Lynley, Haley, and Landry Kemp; Harrison, Austin, and Jacob Anderson; and numerous other
relatives and many friends.

Services for Lionel Dwayne Stowers will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at the United Methodist
Church of Sentinel with Reverend Norman Wasson officiating. Interment will follow at Sentinel Cemetery in Sentinel
under the direction of our funeral home in Sentinel, McClure Funeral Home of Sentinel. Memorial donations may be
made on behalf of Lionel Stowers to the Parkinson’s Foundation of the Heartland, 1000 W. Wilshire, Ste. 364,
Oklahoma City, Ok 73116, or organization of your choice.

STOTZER

Charlotte Irene Stotzer, age 59 of Altus, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2007.

Charlotte was born on February 10, 1947, to John and Ida Mae (Folley) Jewell in Altus. On August 13, 1966, she
married Robert Stotzer and they moved to New Jersey shortly after their marriage. After her husband’s retirement,
they moved back to Altus in 1999, where they made their home. Playing dominoes, bingo and spending time with
her family and friends were the things Charlotte enjoyed most of all in life.

Preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Ericka Urrutia in 2006, she is survived by her husband, Bob, of
the home; one daughter, Eileen Warnock and husband Pat of Union, New Jersey; a son-in-law, Diego Urrutia of
Hillsborough, New Jersey; four grandchildren, Casey, Paige, Jake and Marcus and many other family members and
friends.

Funeral services for Charlotte Irene Stotzer will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home Chapel with Brian O’Hair, elder of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, officiating. A private family
inurnment will be held at a later date at the Altus City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home of Altus.

The family of Charlotte Stotzer will greet friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday, January 8, 2007, at Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Jackson County Memorial Hospital Hospice at 1104 N.
Spurgeon, Altus, OK 73521 in memory of Charlotte Stotzer.

STROUD

Denise Stroud, age 86, formally of Eldorado, passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 19, 2005 in a Perryton,
Texas nursing home.

Denise was born on October 29, 1918 in Eldorado, Oklahoma to Thomas J. and Virgie (Goodall) Randolph. She
graduated from Eldorado High School in 1937. She attended Mangum Junior College and Southwestern Oklahoma
State University where she obtained her masters degree in education.

On October 22, 1940 she married J.C. “Jake” Stroud in Tarkio, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 7,
1996 after fifty-five wonderful years of marriage. In 1947, she was hired to teach 3rd grade. Along with the regular
curriculum she taught creative elementary art, writing and group singing. After five years she was transferred to the High
School Department of Commerce and Home Economics. She remained in high school for twenty-nine years with the
last twenty-one in the Vocational Home Economics Building. Through the FHA and Young Homemakers the Home Ec
Department was able to be involved in many community activities involving youth activities. Denise was also the
recipient of many awards and honors throughout her teaching career and during her retirement years that were well
deserved.

In 1972, the Eldorado Historical Society, sponsored by the Altus Historical Society, was organized and Denise served
as its first president as well as president for many more years. Denise attended the first organizational meeting of the
Quartz Mountain Arts Institute and continued to support the institution for many years.

Denise was active in many clubs and activities including; Business and Professional Women’s Organization, the Saddle
Club, Retired Teachers of Oklahoma, part owner of the Eldorado Courier and a faithful member of the United
Methodist Church along with being the Curator of the Eldorado Museum.

She was preceded in death by her mom and dad, two brothers, Manual and Joe, her husband, Jake, her son, Joe and a
grandson, Brad.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Avant of Perryton, Texas; one sister, Ann Wilson of Midwest City, Oklahoma;
four grandchildren, Pam Chisum and husband Jody of Perryton, Texas, Jamie Steffensen and husband Bentley of
Weatherford, Oklahoma, Cary Don Avant of Beaver, Oklahoma and Justin Stroud and wife Melissa of Amarillo,
Texas; eleven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many,
many friends.

Funeral Services for Denise Stroud will be Saturday, October 22, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Eldorado School Auditorium
with Rev. Elbert Shumaker officiating. Interment will follow at the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-
Tims Funeral Home. Mrs. Stroud will lie in state at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel in Eldorado until service
time on Saturday.

A visitation for friends will be held on Friday night from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel
in Eldorado.

Sturdevant

Henry Sturdevant, 58, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2010, at his home in Headrick, Oklahoma.
He was born January 21, 1952, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Harvey P. and Ollie (Nidell) Sturdevant. He married
Mary Ann Welsh March 26, 1971, in Youngstown, Ohio. He joined the military and served twenty-one years and
retired October 1, 1991, as TSgt, and then went to work in Civil Service as an Aircraft Mechanic. Henry and Mary
Ann moved from McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey to Jackson County, where they have lived for the past
thirty-two years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, sitting in his garage, riding four-wheelers, playing cards,
watching NASCAR, working on old cars, and collecting trains.
Preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Ollie Sturdevant and one sister-in-law, Julie, Henry is survived by his
wife, Mary Ann Sturdevant of the home in Headrick; his children, Lori of Norman, Oklahoma, Thomas and wife
Mitzi, Steven Sturdevant and Misty, all of Altus, Oklahoma, and Colleen and husband Kent Holland of Snyder,
Oklahoma; one brother, Harvey Page Sturdevant, Jr.; and grandchildren, Brian, Sarina, Sommer, Sabastian, Hayley,
Shyanne, Samantha, Tanner, and Hunter.

A Celebration of Henry’s life will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at the Headrick Community Center from 5:
00 to 8:00 p.m.

Arrangements are with Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.

Mildred Sumrow

Mildred Sumrow, a long time Altus resident, passed away at Grace Living Center Wednesday, May 12, 2004.

Mildred was born to Minnie and Doss Myers on July 25, 1917 in Dallas, Texas. Mildred married William Elbert
Sumrow on December 2, 1946 in Dallas, Texas and later moved to the Altus area. Mrs. Sumrow was a
beautician for several years after attending beauty school and retired at an early age due to health.

Mrs. Sumrow was preceded in death by her parents and husband of forty-two years. She is survived by a nephew,
Steve Myers, of Texas; a cousin, Erma Hadaway, of Runaway Bay, Texas and a host of friends.

Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2004 at Altus City Cemetery with Bill Osborne
officiating. Arrangements are with Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
