Ernestine Thompson

Ernestine Thompson was born July 19, 1917 near Martha, Oklahoma to Ernest Wright Warren and Iva Mae
Howard Warren. She married Garland Thompson on March 10, 1939.
Ernestine graduated from Martha High School in 1935, attended Altus Junior College, and Central State
Teachers College in Edmond. She graduated from Weatherford State Teacher’s College in Weatherford,
Oklahoma. She taught 3rd grade and music classes at Porter High School for five years, then taught 3rd grade
at Robert E. Lee in Altus for twenty-three years. When Robert E. Lee closed, she was transferred to Rivers
where she taught 3rd grade for ten years.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Excelsior Sunday school Class, Circle I, Retired Teachers
of Jackson County, and Altus Literary Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Winfred, and husband Garland.
She is survived by daughter Judy Dodson and husband Keith, Grandchildren Debbie Cox and husband Robert;
Mark Dodson and wife Lisa; and Scott Dodson and wife Amy. Great Grandchildren are Carly Cox, Allison Cox
and Chloe Cox , Marissa Dodson, Lauren Dodson and Cooper Dodson. Sisters in law are Ella Mae Thompson
and Ernestine Thompson of Mangum, and a nephew Joe Thompson and wife Gerry, nieces; Sherri Banister and
Ginger Renslow.
Special friends are Ignacio and Josephine Martinez, Juanita, Junior, Bessie and Angel and their families. Very
Special Caregivers were Mary Willeford, Erma Fortenberry and Erica Pantoja.
Services will be Thursday at 2:00pm at United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Dave Player and Pastor
Jan Oden.
Visitation will be Wednesday Sept. 14, 2005 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from 7-8 pm, where the family will
greet friends. Memorials in honor of Ernestine Thompson may be sent to the Family Life Center at First United
Methodist Church or the organization or charity of your choice

Mary Madalene Spradlin Thompson

Mary Madalene Spradlin Thompson went home to meet her Lord on November 6, 2005 in Altus, Oklahoma.
Madalene was born on Sept. 25, 1912 to James Rhett (Rister) and Catherine Louisa Fellers Spradlin at their
home ¼ mile east of Corinth Baptist Church in Harmon County, Oklahoma. She married Lester LeRoy
Thompson on July 5,1933 in Hollis, Oklahoma and to this union was born four sons, Donald Gene, Lester
LeRoy, Leslie Dwayne, and Buddy James
Madalene was saved and baptized into Corinth Baptist Church at age 14 continuing her active membership
there until February of 1976, when she and Lester built their home in Eldorado and they joined the First Baptist
Church. During her years of dedicated church work, she served as a Sunday School teacher and Training Union
Leader and played the piano for Corinth Baptist Church for a few years. She served as secretary for Vacation
Bible School at the First Baptist Church and was an active and faithful member of the Ladies Sunday School
Class while a member of both churches.

Madalene was a member of the Lincoln Extension Club for 56 years, serving as president and secretary for
several years. She graduated as Salutatorian from Lincoln High School, west of Eldorado, in 1930, and after
marrying her life long friend, helped him with farming while being a devoted wife, homemaker and mother.

She is survived by sons Dwayne Thompson and wife Shirley of Lewisville, Texas, Buddy Thompson and wife
Dianna of Eldorado, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Eric Thompson, Lynn Thompson-Tuell, Brian Thompson and wife
Monica, Pamela Houston and husband Jerry, and Mark Thompson and wife Alisha, Seth Thompson and Leslie
Thompson; Seven “adored” great grandchildren: Kale, Bray, Randi, Ty, Taylor, Rylee, and Trae. Sisters Bonnie
White of Altus, and Olene King of Grandfield and brother Wayne Spradlin and wife Mae of Pueblo, Colo. also
survive her.

Madalene was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, two sons (Donald and LeRoy in 1966),
and brothers, Aubrey, Leslie, Carter, J.R. Jr. and E.J.

Funeral Services for Mary Madalene Spradlin Thompson will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at 2:00 pm
at the Eldorado First Baptist Church with Rev. Pete Wylie officiating. Interment will be at the Eldorado Cemetery
under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Eldorado.

Michael Don Thompson, Sr

Michael Don Thompson, Sr., age 54 of Altus, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2005 as the result of a motor
vehicle accident north of Altus.

He was born March 31, 1951 in Altus, Oklahoma to Donald and Joy (Hall) Thompson. Mike had lived in the
Altus community all of his life and was a graduate of Altus High School. He owned and operated a saddle shop
for several years. When he wasn’t busy making a saddle for many of the cowboys in the community he enjoyed
spending time with his family and friends, and he always enjoyed watching his son rope and cowboy.

Mike is survived by his mother Joy Thompson of Altus, Oklahoma; two children, Jennifer Williams and husband
Matt of Owasso, Oklahoma and Michael Thompson of Altus, Oklahoma, one sister Shelly O’Connor of Altus,
Oklahoma, a grandchild on the way, one nephew D.J. O’Connor; and a host of other relatives and many, many
friends.

He is preceded in death by his father Don Thompson, and grandparents.

Graveside service for Michael Don Thompson, Sr. is scheduled for Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at
the Altus City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

The family of Michael Don Thompson, Sr. will greet friends Monday evening August 15, 2005 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Wilma Earlene Thompson

Wilma Thompson was born March 26, 1920 in Jackson County, Okla. She was the daughter of the late J.E.
and Rosa (West) Alexander. She died July 27, 2004 in Altus, Okla.
Wilma attended school at Porter High. She married Harmon Thompson, Jan. 30, 1937 in Humphrey, Okla. He
preceded her in death, April 17, 1992.
Wilma worked at the 1st National Bank for 38 years before retiring as a Vice President in 1985. She was a
charter member of the Southside Baptist Church. She had been selected as the Kiwanis Mother of the Year.
At the Southside Baptist Church, Wilma taught Sunday School and served as Church Treasurer. She
especially loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include:
1 son Joe Thompson & Gerry Altus
1 Grandaughter LaDaun Leverett & Steve Arlington, Tex
2 Greatgrandsons Jordon Paul and Dylan Kyle Leverett of Arlington, Tex.
1 Brother J.E. Alexander,Jr. & Anna Mae of Altus
1 sister Betty Alexander of Clarksville, Tenn.
A special family friend, Orenta Thompson of Altus
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Alpha Rape.
Services for Wilma Thompson are scheduled for 10 AM Thursday, July 29, 2004 at the Southside Baptist
Church with Rev. Jason Duree officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus Cemetery under the direction of
Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family of Wilma Thompson will greet friends, Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from
6:30PM-8:00PM

THORNBROUGH

Andee Kay Thornbrough, infant daughter of Monty and Kaylee Thornbrough, passed into the arms of Jesus on
Thursday evening, February 21, 2008, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.

Andee Kay was wanted and loved so by her parents and grandparents. Many friends and family members were
also anxiously awaiting the safe arrival of her. But God had a different plan for our little Andee Kay. She has
forever left immeasurable memories on the hearts of those who have already grown to love her. Andee will
forever be “0ur precious little angel.”

Her loving family includes her daddy and mommy, Monty and Kaylee Thornbrough of Altus; two uncles, Matt
Thornbrough and Mark Thornbrough of Sayre; one aunt, Kenna Anderson of Norman; her grandparents, Kenny
and Cheryl Anderson of Altus and Roy and Sandy Thornbrough of Sayre; great grandparents, Dale and Ann Lou
Caid of Granite, Sarah Thornbrough and the late Leaford Thornbrough of Sayre, Karl and Vivian Klick of
Oklahoma City, Bob and Jane Stephenson of Altus and Veda Anderson and the late Frank (Andy) Anderson of
Altus along with many other relatives and family friends.

Funeral services for Andee Kay Thornbrough will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, February 25, 2008 at the First
Baptist Church in Altus with Dr. Jeff Moore and Pastor David Player officiating. Interment will follow at the Sayre
City Cemetery with Rev. Gary Baird officiating. Services are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of
Altus.

Tidwell

Rev. Claude Alfred (Pete) Tidwell, 91, formerly of Altus, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004 in a Midwest City hospital.
Rev. Tidwell was born Dec. 30, 1912 in Point, Texas. He was the son of the late John and Maggie (Taylor)
Tidwell. Pete moved to the Altus area in 1927 with his parents. He retired from the Altus School System and
also pastored several churches in the area. He served his country during World War II in the Engineer Corps of
the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He married Ruby Goolsby and was married for 65 years
before Ruby preceded him in death in 1995.
Survivors include :

Baptist Church with Rev. David Chittenden officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus Cemetery.

Nancy Wichita, KS

Bill Tidwell and Jody Newalla, OK

Oscar M. Tidwell

Oscar M. Tidwell, 85, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2005 at the Lawton-Fort Sill Veterans Center in
Lawton, Oklahoma.
Oscar was born on January 14, 1921 in Marrietta, Oklahoma to William John Tidwell and Mary Margaret (Taylor)
Tidwell.
He attended school at Ozark and Altus and then joined the United States Army. Oscar served as a member of
the 45th Division Thunderbirds 245th Tank Battalion; Combat Infantryman; and was a Sharpshooter. He served
in Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Southern France, Rome-Arno, Rhineland, Germany and Central Europe. Oscar
served with General Patton at the Battle of the Bulge during WWII and went on the serve in the Korean Conflict
also. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Ribbon, EAME Service Ribbon, Silver
Service Star and One Bronze Service Star. Following his discharge from active duty, Oscar served in the
National Guard.
Oscar returned to Altus in 1952 and went to work driving a truck for Lawrence-Kimbrough Company. He then
joined the Altus Police Department and worked there until he was hired on by the Civil Service at Altus Air Force
Base where he was the Material Facilities Supervisor until his retirement in 1979.
Oscar was a lifetime member of the American Legion where he served as Post Commander. He coached
American Legion baseball for many years and had numerous championship teams including the 1968
Southwest Oklahoma District Champions.
He married Helen Violet DeSpain on October, 16, 1941 in Altus, Oklahoma. They were married 53 years until
her death in January of 1995. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jack, William and Alfred (Pete)
and one sister, May.
Oscar later married Linda Hunt in August of 2003 in Altus, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife Linda, of the home; one son, Rodney Tidwell of Roosevelt, Oklahoma; one daughter,
Pat Rowland and husband Lynn of Altus; two step-sons, Troy Hunt of McKinney, Texas and O.C. Hunt of Altus,
Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Heather Irvin and husband Roger of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Shawn Tidwell of San
Diego, California, Rashell Johnson and husband Rhet of Duke, Oklahoma, Tyson Rowland of Edmond,
Oklahoma, Austin Hunt and Christopher Hunt of Altus, Oklahoma; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen
Bonds of Altus, Oklahoma and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Services for Oscar M. Tidwell will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at the Lowell-Tims Chapel with burial
following at the Altus Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 15, 2005 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at
Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

TIERNAN

James Lee Tiernan, 70, passed away Monday, March 16, 2009, at his home in Altus. He was born
September 25, 1938 in Potsdam, NY to William Mark and Iola Thystle (Clarke) Tiernan. He retired from
the Department of Corrections for the State of Hawaii after many years of service. He moved to Altus
in 2001 to be close to his daughter.

James loved model railroading. He was always working to improve his set up. He was a quite man
but was always thinking. Every day when his daughter would go to the house, he would greet her with a
new idea he had come up with.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James Robert; and one sister, Judy.

He is lovingly survived by his daughter, Wendy Mills of Altus; a granddaughter, Starla Mills of Altus; a
grandson, James Michael Tiernan of Lawton, Ok; and by three sisters, Linda Harriman and Janice
Monroe both of Norfork, NY and Sandra Faye of Messena, NY.

The family will arrange a private memorial service at a later date.

Hazel Anne Tigert

Hazel Anne Tigert, age 90, of Altus, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at Jackson County Memorial
Hospital.

Hazel Anne (Zumbro) Tigert was born to Maude and Claude Zumbro on December 17, 1917 in Denison, Texas.
Hazel moved to Altus with her family in 1921. They lived in the Ozark community where she attended the Ozark
school. She attended the Friendship Baptist Church, along with her family, and at the of 18 years accepted the
Lord as her personal Savior. She was baptized at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Altus.

In 1942 she married Carroll Tigert. They made their home in Altus and had 3 children,
Ronnie Gene, Linda Renee and Erma Gay Tigert. Carroll and Hazel owned and operated the Altus Linen Supply.
Hazel worked with Carroll in this business. She later worked at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in the Laundry
Department, retiring in 1983.

Hazel is preceded in death by her husband Carroll Tigert in December 19, 1973; baby girl Erma Gay in June19,
1948; son Ronnie Gene in June 6, 1985: mother and father Maude and Claude Zumbro; two brothers, Ray and
Roy Zumbro; one sister Ople Maye Lasko.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Cox and husband Johnny of Altus, one sister Cleo Beaver Barnett of
Altus, grandchildren Tonya Gay Tigert of Oklahoma City, Gary Tigert, of Oklahoma City, Christine Ward and
husband Cody of Cabot, Arkansas, Randy Montgomery and wife Cindy of Vernon Texas, Shelly Morren and
husband Jim,
of Blair Oklahoma, Carolyn Richardson and husband Richy, of Mangum, Oklahoma, and Brandi Cox-Welch, of
Altus, Oklahoma, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-greatgrandson.

Graveside services for Hazel Anne Tigert will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 14, 2008, at the Altus
City Cemetery with Brother Jason Duree officiating. Lowell-
Tims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
