James Phinis Lee

James Phinis Lee, 81, passed away June 22, 2003 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Visitation
with the family will be Tuesday, June 24 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Services
will be held at 10:00 A.M., June 25, 2003 at the Lowell-Tims Chapel. Interment will follow at the Altus
City Cemetery.

Phinis was born May 25, 1922 to Charles “Sam” Elsie Lee and Alpha Omega (Cox) Lee. He was a
lifelong resident of Jackson County. During WWII, Phinis served his country in the Navy where he was
wounded. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Phinis was lovingly called a ‘character’ who
always had a funny story to tell. He was a tough man and hard on himself most of all, but he had a kind
and generous heart and was known for helping others.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Desta Lee Hardwicke. He is survived by his
daughters: Kathie Lee of Phoenix, Arizona and her son Erik, Shandra Tuggle, of Wichita Falls, Texas
and her children, Shahna and Sejin, and Vicki McClain of Edmond, Oklahoma and her sons, Jason and
Matthew and by his aunt and uncle, Grover and Martha Cox of Fort Worth, Texas. He was much loved
and will be greatly missed.

Loyd Lenard

Loyd Lenard age 57, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2005 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
He was born to W.T Lenard and Lee Aster (Wheaton) on January 31, 1947 in Tipton, Oklahoma.
Loyd was a life time resident of Altus, Oklahoma, he loved to fish and play dominoes.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Bobby Ray Liggins and one brother, JT Lenard.
Loyd is survived by his children, five daughters, Linda Lee Williams, of Lawton, Oklahoma, Christine Lenard, of
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Lea Esther Nimako, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Neicy Goodlow, of Lawton,
Oklahoma and Delois Crowder of Lawton, Oklahoma, one son, Jerome Jefferson of Altus, Oklahoma, twenty
grandchildren, three great grand children, five sisters, Ada Lee, Wilma Gene, Wanda Smith, Betha Ann,
Gerdean Lenard and five brothers, LJ Lenard, John Lenard, Ben Lenard, James Lenard, Roydean Lenard and
Uncle John Lenard.
Services will be held Thursday, April 28, 2005 at 10:00 am at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Interment to follow at
the Altus City Cemetery.

Annie Jewell Leverett

Annie Jewell Leverett went to be with her Lord on June 27, 2005, at the Plantation Village Nursing Home in
Altus, Oklahoma. Annie was the daughter of W.F. and Willie Alexander and was born October 13, 1909 at
Rhome, Texas. Annie moved with her family to Southwest Oklahoma at an early age and graduated from Duke
High School in 1931. She married Amos Leverett in Altus, Oklahoma August 1, 1931. They were married 61
years prior to his death in 1992. Amos and Annie had two sons, Darill and Lynn Leverett. Annie was a loving
mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. She worked for many
years as a cook for the Altus Public Schools. She enjoyed her past seven years at the Tamarack Retirement
Home. She will be lovingly missed by her family and friends who will never forget her bright smile and cheery
disposition.

Annie is survived by sons, Darill Leverett and his wife Janelle of Altus, Lynn Leverett and his wife Paula of
Amarillo, Texas. She is also survived by grandchildren, Joe Leverett and wife Kim; Brad Leverett and wife
Robin of Altus; Jay Leverett and wife Doris of Amarillo, Texas, Lisa Rhodes and husband Ed of Abilene, Texas;
and Chris Leverett and wife Kelly of Plano, Texas. She is also survived by great grandchildren Danelle
Leverett, Sarah Leverett, Carson Leverett, Austin Leverett, Dusty Rhodes, Colton Rhodes, Travis Leverett,
Alyssa Rhodes, Holly Leverett, and Cade Leverett. She is also survived by one sister, Edith Thompson of
Mangum, Oklahoma and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services for Mrs. Leverett will be held at the First Baptist church of Altus on Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at 4:00
pm. Interment will follow in the Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. In lieu of
flowers, the family would encourage contributions to the charity of your choice in Annie’s name. The family will
receive guests at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 pm.

LEWIS

Bernice Marie Lewis, age 77, of Lueders, Texas and formerly of Altus, passed away on Saturday, October 13,
2007, in the Abilene, Texas Regional Hospital.

Bernice was born on June 11, 1930, to Henry and Sally (Flannigan) Green in Marshall, Texas. After attending
school in Karens, Texas, she moved several places before moving to Altus in the early 1990’s. Shortly after her
move to Altus, she met and married Wallace Lewis. After his death in 2000, Bernice moved to Lueders, Texas
to be near her family. Fishing, sewing and cooking were things that she enjoyed, but worshiping God was the
most important thing in her life.

Preceded in death by her parents and husband, she is survived by two sisters, Ethel Armstrong of Altus and
Ruth Hill of Lueders, Texas; two brothers, Lawerence Elem of Lancaster, Texas and Nathaniel Lewis of Dallas,
Texas along with many nieces, nephews cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services for Bernice Lewis will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2007, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home
Chapel with Elder Richard Atkinson officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the
direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

Charlie Lewis

Charlie Herman Lewis, 94, of Hollis, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at the Harmon Memorial
Hospital in Hollis.

Charlie was born April 21, 1912, in Harmon County to Robert Henry and Fannie Mae (Cansler) Lewis.
He attended school at Red Top north of Hollis, which was one of the many little country schools in Harmon
County at the time.

Charlie married Tinnie Baker in 1934 in Altus, Oklahoma. He was a lifetime resident of Harmon County
where he farmed cotton and wheat most of his adult life. After retiring from farming, he and Tinnie moved
into town and enjoyed their retirement by traveling across the United States and Europe. Charlie was a
member of the Church of Christ in Hollis.

He is survived by his only son, Jack Lewis and wife Dona, of Amarillo, Texas; two grandchildren, Candy
Marshall and husband Steve, and Craig Lewis and wife Kristy; four great-grandchildren, Grant Lewis,
Caroline Lewis, Mollie Marshall, and Jenny Marshall, all of Amarillo, and many nieces and nephews.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Tinnie on February 11, 2001, and nine brothers
and sisters.

Funeral Services for Charlie Lewis will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 10, 2007, at Patterson Greer
Chapel in Hollis with Reverend Jim Fishback officiating. Interment will follow at Dryden Cemetery east of
Hollis under the direction of our funeral home in Hollis, Patterson Greer Funeral Home.

Glenda Lewis

Glenda Lewis, 67, of Hollis, passed away at her home Thursday, June 28, 2007.

Glenda was born July 27, 1939, in Mountainair, New Mexico, to Clifton and Ara Dell (Cook) Osborn.

She graduated from Hollis High School in 1957 and was an excellent basketball player. She attended
college later in life at WOSC in Altus and SWOSU in Weatherford. Glenda married Reggie Lewis in 1989 and
they enjoyed 10 happy years together before his death in 1999.

Glenda worked at many places throughout her adult life. She started working at the Neighborhood Youth
Corp in Hollis in the late 1960’s. She then took a job as a bookkeeper for Jim Darnell, an accountant in Hollis
at the time. She also worked for Cable One, Jackson Aerial Spraying, and Anson Oil Drilling Company in
Weatherford. For the past twelve years, Glenda was a dedicated employee at Colonial Manor I Nursing Home
in Hollis, where she was currently employed.

She is survived by her three children, Kenny Jackson and wife Kris of Abilene, Texas, Karen Coomes and
husband Tom of Hollis, and Kathryn Rath and husband Larry of Fort Smith, Arkansas; five grandchildren,
Justin Jackson of Enid, Oklahoma, Jaci Jackson of Abilene, Texas, Ryan Coomes of Hollis, David Rath and
Allyson Rath, both of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two brothers, W.C. (Clyde) Osborn and wife Dorothy of Oklahoma
City, and Ravanol (Pete) Osborn and wife Carolyn of Brooksville, Florida; her mother-in-law, Rosedell Lewis of
Hollis; a very special friend, Dalton Webster and his family; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Ara Osborn, and her husband, Reggie
Lewis.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 30, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Hollis with
Reverend Richard Manning officiating. Interment will follow at Cave Creek Cemetery in Vinson. Arrangements
are under the direction of Patterson Greer Funeral Home in Hollis.

LEWIS

Patsy Carolyn Lewis, age 75, of Fort Worth and formerly of Altus, passed away at her home on Saturday,
March 8, 2008.

Patsy was born on May 24, 1932, in Friendship, Oklahoma to Roy and Ollie (Thompson) Brake. At an early
age she moved to Altus and later married Alfred Thomas Lewis Jr., at Pampa, Texas in 1948. Patsy and her
family lived in many places while her husband worked in the oil field business. After Tommy retired they moved
to the Quartz Mountain area where they lived until his death. A short time later, Patsy moved to the Fort
Worth, Texas area to be near her children. Patsy loved spending time with her family, doing church work and
serving others. She even made a mission trip to China with some of her friends to help others.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Wade Brake; two sisters, Twana Thomason and
Clois Walker, she is survived by three children, Debbi Heidenreich and husband Richie of Ft. Worth, Texas,
Mike Lewis of Royse City, Texas and Tim Lewis of Ft. Worth, Texas; eight grandchildren, Trey Heidenreich,
Tiffany Heidenreich, Tyler Heidenreich, Ronnie Lewis, Joshua Lewis, Aaron Lewis, Gabriel Lewis and Nikole
Lewis; one sister, Maxine Hogan of Mangum; one sister-in-law, Louise Hayes of Jacksboro, Texas and many
other relatives and friends.

Memorial services for Patsy Carolyn Lewis will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Lowell-Tims Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Mitchell officiating.

Ruth I. Lewis

Ruth I. Lewis, the former Ruth Irene Ray, age 95, passed away February 12, 2005 in North Little Rock Ark. She
was born February 12, 1910, daughter of James Benton and Katie Mae Ray. She moved with her parents from
Grayson County, Texas, to Oklahoma in 1915, settling near Altus. She entered school at Old Frazier and, upon
consolidation with the Altus public schools, entered Washington school in the sixth grade. Graduating from Altus
High School in May 1928, she immediately entered Altus Business College, desiring to prepare herself for
secretarial work.
She married Frank Wesley Lewis of Mangum, Oklahoma, in August 1935. In 1940, their first child, Kay (now Kay
Lewis Woods) was born. Kay resides in Little Rock, Arkansas, and is Asst. Vice President of the American
Municipal Secs.; a son, James Preston was born in 1943, and he resides in Ridgecrest, California, where he has
been with Searles Valley Mineral since 1965 as Foreman, Instrumentation. Her husband died May 21, 1955, at
San Antonio, Texas.
Mrs. Lewis has been in the work force for many years, commencing immediately after graduation from Business
College, she accepted her first secretarial position with Stansell Whiteside, Sr., Attorney, continuing on in the
legal profession for 12-plus years, working for Judge W.C. Austin, Robert B. Harbison, and the firm of Walker
and Barnes in Hermiston, Oregon. After Mr. Whiteside’s untimely death in an automobile accident in 1935, she
moved to Mangum to accept position of Business Manager, Borger-McGregor Hospital, for seven years,
returning to Altus in 1942 to work for Judge Austin.
Mrs. Lewis husband being a Federal employee with the United States Corps of Engineers, she took the Civil
Service examination and in 1950 she entered Federal Service in the Walla Walla, Washington District and
McNary, Oregon where her husband was Paving Engineer with the US Corps of Engineers. Her first love, legal
secretary, was sacrificed so she would be in position to transfer with her husband as his jobs were completed.
Since 1950 to the present date, Mrs. Lewis has worked with the US Corps of Engineers and the US Air Force,
transferring with him to various installations; from Oregon to Kirtland AFB, New Mexico; Laughlin Air Force Base,
Texas; Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Following her husband’s untimely death from cancer while at San
Antonio, she transferred to Altus Air Force Base in June 1955, working in the 96th Bombardment Wing, later the
11th Strategic Aerospace Wing, 816th Air Division, and the 443rd Military Airlift Wing. She has been Secretary
to the Wing Comptroller since March 1966.
Mrs. Lewis received her first Outstanding and Sustained Superior Performance after arriving at Altus AFB in
1957, and was consistent in that pattern annually. She also received two Special Achievement Awards from the
Air Force Audit Agency, when the AFAA was stationed on Altus Air Force Base; numerous letters of
commendation/appreciation, and the recipient of the Air Force Meritorious Civilian Service Award for the period
27 March 1966 to 26 March 1981.
Mrs. Lewis was active in the First Baptist Church, serving as Librarian/Assistant Librarian since 1957. She was
a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, American Association of Retired People; Past Noble Grand, Altus
Rebekah Lodge No. 75, having been elected Secretary for more than 25 years.
Mrs. Lewis is survived by one daughter; Kay Woods and husband Bill of North Little Rock, Ark, one son; Jimmy
Lewis and wife Eldora of Ridgecrest, Ca, two nephews; Carlton Ray and wife Sue of Tipton, Oklahoma and
Phillip Ray and wife Sandy of Luthersville, Maryland, four nieces; Wilma Briscoe of Altus, Oklahoma, Jerry
Lankford and husband Bill of Lakewood, Co, Susan McGrady and husband Red of Pulaski, VA and Paula Carter
and husband Bill of Altus, Oklahoma, five grandchildren; Talanda Luis and husband Albert of Huntington Beach,
CA, Patricia Schneekluth and husband Erik of Huntington Beach, CA, Kristy Woods of Valley Village, CA, Bret
Woods of Little Rock, Ark, and Preston Lewis and wife Joyce of Ridgecrest, CA, and seven great grandchildren,
Vanessa, Alec, Chanel Luis, Kaylee and Cody Schneekluth, James and Keith Lewis.
Mrs. Lewis is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, two sisters; Zelma Harrison and Geneva Ray, four
brothers; Dean, Don, Doug and Howard Ray.
Services will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Moore
officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery. Under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends, Tuesday, February 15, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

LEWIS

Toy Ann Lewis, age 67, of Altus, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma
City.

Mrs. Lewis was born on February 18, 1940, to Harrison and Etoy (McKenzie) Thurmond at Altus. As a child,
she attended Ozark School and later graduated from Altus High School in 1958. After graduation she moved
to Texas for a short time before returning to Jackson County. On July 24, 1961, she married Kenneth Lewis in
Vernon, Texas and they spent forty-six wonderful years together before her death. Throughout her life, she
enjoyed mountain climbing, painting, working in her garden and yard, but most of all she enjoyed spending
time with her family and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents and a special aunt and uncle, Odell and Raliegh Wilson, she is survived by
her husband, Kenneth, of the home; two sons, Kenny Lewis of Altus and Chris Lewis of Norman; three
brothers, Keith Thurmond and wife Jane of Elmer, Harry (Butch) Thurmond and John Thurmond and wife Gail
of Elmer; a brother-in-law, Arlie Lewis and wife Thelma of Amarillo, Texas; a sister-in-law, Sharon Cain and
husband Jim of Morriston, Tennessee along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Toy Lewis will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 25, 2007, at Lowell-Tims Funeral
Home Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction
of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

The family will greet friends on Monday, September 24, 2007, from 6 until 7 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
