Irmgard Maria Loftis

Irmgard Maria Loftis, 83, of Altus, passed away
Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at the Plantation
Village Nursing Home in Altus.

Irmgard was born June 17, 1928, in Karf,
Oberschlesien, Germany, to Heinricht and
Anna Plasa. She married J.L. Loftis August 12,
1959, in Baumholder, Germany, while he was
serving his country in the United States Army.
Irmgard was very proud to be the wife of an
honorable soldier, and she considered her
husband a true American hero. She became
an American citizen on April 2, 1963, of which
she was so proud. Her wonderful husband
preceded her in death on February 24, 2000.

Irmgard worked at the Base Exchange as a
store clerk at the Altus Air Force Base for
several years. She loved to read, watch old
movies, and take care of her precious dogs.
Irmgard constantly walked with her dogs and
treated them as her "babies."

Preceded in death by her parents, Heinricht
and Anna Plasa, her husband, J.L. Loftis, one
brother, Josef Plasa, and her sister-in-law,
Wanda Kirkland, Irmgard is survived by two
brothers, Hans Plasa of Germany, and Horst
Plasa and wife Helga, also of Germany; her
brother-in-law, George Kirkland of Altus;
nieces in Oklahoma: Kay Callen and Pam
Smith and her husband, Danny, all of Altus;
great-nieces, Jennifer Lechuga and her
children Brooke and Andrew of Altus, Jaclyn
Kendall and husband Jeremy and their children
Jayli and J.J. of Mangum, Oklahoma, Emily
Jones and husband Chris and their children,
Abigail and Jozie of Perry, Oklahoma, and
several nieces and nephews in Germany,
along with other relatives and many friends.

Memorial Services for Irmgard Loftis will be
held 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2012, at
Lowell-Tims Chapel with Reverend Joseph
Sundar Pudota officiating. Inurnment of
Cremains will be held later at Altus City
Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home.

Jerry Luther Brown

Jerry Luther Brown, age 68, of Altus, passed from this life on
Friday, June 8, 2012 in Oklahoma City, OK.

He was born on May 27, 1944, to Luther and Edith Brown in
Comanche, OK.

Jerry attended and graduated Waurika High School in 1962.
He later attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University and
East Central University. Jerry joined the United States Navy in
November of 1965, serving in Vietnam through 1968.
He married Betty Gowin on June 13, 1964 in Waurika, OK. They
had one son and one daughter. Jerry moved to Altus in 1968 to
join the family business, Brown’s Appliance Center, later named
Brown’s Appliance & Furniture. Subsequently Jerry became
involved in Real Estate and Property Management. He was a
member of Southside Baptist Church for many years. Jerry also
had an avid interest in politics, serving on the campaign committee
of Gov. David Walters and the Oklahoma State Bond Commission.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Brown, on
January 28, 1999 and Edith Brown on October, 9, 2010. He is
survived by his daughter, Barbara Littlejohn of San Antonio, TX
and son, Jerry Lynn Brown, of Edmond, OK; brother, Donald P.
Brown, of Yorba Linda, CA, and sister, Peggy (Brown) Pena, of
Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Ethan and Emily Littlejohn and a
number of nieces and nephews.
A viewing for family and friends will be held at Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home on Thursday, June 14th from 6-8pm. Funeral
Services will be held at Southside Baptist Church on Friday, June
15th at 2pm.

Joseph Eldridge Caskey Jr.

Joseph Eldridge Caskey Jr., 69, of Altus, passed away Tuesday evening,
Nov. 9, 2010, at his home.

Mr. Caskey was born on Aug. 12, 1941, in Borger, Texas, to Joseph
Eldridge Sr. and Vera Agnes (Williamson) Caskey. After graduating from
Borger High School, he later joined the United States Army. While stationed
at Ft. Riley, Kansas, he met and married Carolyn Killman, the love of his
life, on Aug. 18, 1968, at Clay Center, Kansas, after six weeks of courtship.
Shortly after their marriage, Joe left for Vietnam in October 1968. After his
return to the States in October 1969, the family was stationed at Ft. Hood,
Texas, Vileck Germany, Ft. Hood, Texas, Baumholder Germany, Ft. Knox,
Kentucky and Kirch Goens Germany where he retired in October 1989.
After retirement he began working at Altus Air Force Base as a site manager
for a cleaning contractor, retiring in 2001. Joe enjoyed fishing, being with
his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Billy Wayne
Caskey.

He is survived by his wife Carol of the home; four children, Joe Blair
Caskey and wife Pam of Dumas, Texas, Don Maria and husband Gene Bell
of Amarillo, Texas, Curtis Wayne Caskey and wife Catherine of York,
Penn., and Ron Joseph Caskey and Nikki Pendergraph of Gould; six
grandchildren, Kristen Caskey, Joe Blair Caskey II and wife Katie, Mariah
Blue and husband Ty McKenney, Jacob Paul Caskey, Catherine Kennedy
Caskey and Graf Carius Caskey; three great-grandchildren, Josslyn, Piper,
and Joey; two sisters, Paula Landers and husband Bob of Granite, and Julie
McMahan and husband James of Houston, Texas; along with many nieces,
nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at the Altus City Cemetery with
Pastor Kevin Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Altus City Cemetery
under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

Gladys Marie Simpson

Gladys Marie Simpson, 77, lifelong resident of Altus and Jackson County,
passed away Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010, at the Plantation Village
Nursing Home.

She was born Feb. 12, 1933, in Olton, TX to William Cornelius and Sarah
Inez (Austin) Love. She moved to Altus at a very young age. She
graduated from Victory High School where she played basketball. She
worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for a while. She married Daniel
Roberts Simpson February 6, 1954 in Lawton, Oklahoma. After the birth
of her first child, she quit work to become a full time mother and helpmate
for her husband. She took great pride in caring for her family and helping
her husband on the farm. She was an exceptional cook and created
beautiful quilts and clothing for her family and friends. She was a devoted
member of the First Baptist Church.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Daniel in 1997;
her daughter, Danette in 2004; and by three brothers, Everett Love,
Edward Love and Billy Love.

She is lovingly survived by two sons, Ernest Simpson and wife Vicki and
Todd Simpson, of Altus; five grandchildren, Shon Romines, Devon
Simpson, Brandi McKenzie, Loran Mayes, and Trey Latham; four
great-grandchildren, Sophie McKenzie, Breanna Marriott, Tyler Long and
Tanner Long; one brother, Bruce Love and wife Marie of Pink, OK; and
by two sisters, Loraine Cross of Lovington, NM and Dorothy DaMitz and
husband Jack of Macks Creek, MO.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 pm, Friday, November 5,
2010 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating.
Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of
Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Oklahoma Medical
Research Foundation or the charity of your choice.

Mary Lark Abernathy

Mary Lark Abernathy was born on April 23, 1925 in Altus, Oklahoma to
Guy and Ella Hudson. She passed away Monday, June 4, 2012 in her
home with her family by her side. She graduated from Ozark High
School in Jackson County. She married Charles Abernathy in August of
1943. Just ten days after they were wed, Charles enlisted in the U.S.
Army and Mary found herself an Army Wife. They moved to Oregon
where he trained and she stayed until his deployment. She remained in
Oregon and worked to earn money so she could a train home in Altus.
She waited two years for Charles to return and their only communication
was through letters.
After the war, Charles returned home to his wife and they made their
home east of Altus and began farming. Mary served as a busy farm wife
and mother to their children, Crystal and Clint.
Mary earned her teaching degree from SWOSU and taught school in
Blair, Oklahoma for several years. She served as the 4-H leader while
teaching. She was a member of the Literary Club in Altus. She was an
active member of the Gideon’s for years where she ministered to women
and handed out Bibles in the local jail. Mary and Charles looked forward
to their Gideon banquets and fellow ship with their friends. Mary was an
active member of the First United Methodist Church for years where she
taught Sunday school class. She was a member of United Methodist
Women Circle I. She served as the United Methodist Women President,
Chairman of the Methodist Women cookbook and she helped with the
annual Country Kitchen Christmas Bazaar.
Mary and Charles loved to travel and visited many places learning about
and sharing God’s word. They also enjoyed attending meetings around
the country related to Charles’ work in the cotton industry. Mary loved
to cook and hosted many family reunions in their home.
She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and took great
delight in visiting with them. She enjoyed watching old movies on
television and was a fan of the NBA and NFL.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Charles
Abernathy; parents, brothers, Hilton and Earl Hudson, and her daughter
Crystal Abernathy Simpson.
Mary is survived by her son, Clint and wife, Kim; two grandsons Justin
and wife, Amy; Jarod and wife Jill and one granddaughter, Jordan
Coppock and husband, Evan; four great-grandchildren; Kason Charles,
Kenzie Cae, Cade Jarod and Drake John; and one brother Guy Hudson
and wife Sandra of Altus.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers; Amy,
Brittiney and Amber.

A visitation will be held at Lowell-Tims on Wednesday evening from
6:00 to 7:30

Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Thursday,
June 7, 2012 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to
the Gideon’s International and ACA.
