Myrtle Katherine Hayes

Myrtle Katherine Hayes, age 87 of Lindsay died Tuesday, May 4, 2008 at Pauls Valley General Hospital.

She was born November 8, 1921 in Stratford, Oklahoma, the third of 14 children. Her parents were Walter Andrew Harmon and Dolly Mae Womack Harmon. She grew up on a farm and later married Ralph Taylor Hayes on December 28, 1938 in Maysville, Oklahoma. Together they raised two children. Ralph worked in construction and they moved to various locations following his construction jobs. In 1999, she moved from Blanket, Texas to the Oklahoma City area. Last month Myrtle moved to the Lindsay Manor to be close to her brothers and sisters. Throughout the years, Myrtle was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking. She especially liked making tacos, cobblers and cooking Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. She enjoyed the outdoors where she liked fishing and growing vegetables in her garden. Spending time with her family was important to her. She was of the Assembly of God faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Dolly Harmon; her husband Ralph Hayes; brother and sisters May, Ted, Homer, Sis, Buddy, Lloyd Ray and Betty Jane and infants Harold Gene and infant Nadine.

She is survived by teo daughters daughters, Betty Ruth Ballard and husband Eddie of Dibble and Mary Lou George of Lindsay; two brothers, Curly Harmon and wife Evelyn of Maysville; Junior Harmon and wife Dorothy of Lindsay; two sisters, Billie Weathers of Anadarko and Julie Don Rinehart of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday, May 9, 2008 at the Maysville Assembly of God Church with Rev. Billy Davenport officiating. Burial was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Pauls Valley. Pallbearers were Darrell Cumpton, Donnie Minick, Randall Minick, Randy McGrew, Scott Minick, Kim King, David McGrew, and Rodney Horn. Arrangements were under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mildred Lucille Stowe

Funeral service for Mildred Lucille Stowe, 95, of Owasso, Oklahoma was held on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at the Tuttle Church of Christ.

Mildred Lucille Stowe was born April 26, 1912 in Faxon, Oklahoma to Thomas and Catherine (Gordon) Long. Mildred went to be with Lord on April 21, 2008 just days prior to her 96th birthday.

In 1943, Mildred enlisted in the U.S. Army Women’s Auxiliary. After this she worked as a telephone switchboardoperator in Winslow, Arizona and Tuttle.

She was a clerk and ace soda fountain operator at the Tuttle Star Pharmacy during the ownership of the Gannaway family and then the Arganbright family.

Mildred was a long-time member of the Tuttle Church of Christ. She loved going to church and was a faithful involved member. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, attended Ladies Bible Class and was very active in all church events as well as assisted her husband, J.C. with custodial work at the church.

She was a member of the Rooker-Wallace Chapter of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, the Red Hat Society and Margenell’s Eat Dessert First-Dine Out Club.

In 1998, she moved to Tulsa, reluctantly. Fortunately, Margenell’s Eat Dessert First-Dine Out Club was established shortly after this move.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, J.C.; brothers: Gordon and Owen; sisters Alna, Jessie, Ina and Callie; In-laws Claude Haywood, Raymond and Lois Stowe; Ernest and Thelma Watson, Gladys Stowe, David and Helen Stowe, Lester and Dorothy Stowe.

She is survived by her daughter Susan Stowe; sisters Ruth Haywood and Polly Dodge; brother-in-law: Bob Christie; nephews Tom Haywood, Randy Stowe, Don Stowe and Bobie Chrisstie; nieces Claudette Reed and Davalene Stubbs, Cindy Pekrul, Alice Loaiza, Cynthia Canfield, Catherine Dodge and Susan Christie.

Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle.

Karen Ann Earlywine Beckmann

Funeral services for Karen Ann Earlywine Beckmann, 59, 0f Tuttle, were held on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Tuttle Christian Church.

Karen Ann Earlywine Beckmann was born Jan. 25, 1949 in Hiwatha, Kansas. She moved to Tuttle in February, 1976.

She and Royce Beckmann were married Jan. 1, 1972 in Horton, Kan.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Lewis Earlywine.

Survivors include husband Royce Beckmann of the home; two daughters, Tamela Cotton of Edmond and April Elliott of Mustang; one son, Gary Beckmann of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Lofton Cotton, Quinton Cotton and Shelby Elliott; and her mother-in-law Clara Beckmann of Kensington, Kan.

Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home of Tuttle.

Lu Ella Cole Brown

Lu Ella Cole Brown, age 85, of Chickasha, Oklahoma passed away at home from this life to join her Heavenly Father on May 16, 2008. She was born in Wynnewood, Oklahoma on July 28, 1922 to John and Ella Cole and graduated from Alex High School in 1941 and attended Draughonís Business School.

Lu Ella and Roger Brown were married on September 8, 1962, in Oklahoma City. She worked at the Blanchard Bank from 1950 to 1956, then moved to Oklahoma City in 1957 and was employed by May Avenue Bank, now Union Bank. She retired in 1971 and moved to Lewisville, Texas and was a member of the Highland Village Baptist Church. At the time of her death she was a resident of Chickasha.

She is survived by her husband Roger of Chickasha, OK, sister and brother-in-law Louise and Bill Byers of OKC, two grandsons, Keith Freeman, Chris Freeman and his wife Lisa of Blanchard, OK, five great grandkids, Jamie, Kristi, Lindsey, Ryan, and Tanner, two step grandsons, Chris and Ryan Weekes, five great-great grandkids, Quintin, Payton, Brooke, Stevie, and Adrianne, and several nephews, nieces, and cousins. Preceding her in death were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John (Ella) Cole, daughter LaRue and husband Del Ray Freeman, brothers Elmer, Jewel, Roland, and Pete Cole.

Funeral services were under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home in Blanchard on May 19, 2008 at 2:00 P.M., Monday at the Eisenhour Chapel in Blanchard with Pastor Vaughn Wand officiating. She was laid to rest at Blanchard Cemetery.

ASA JULIAN “A.J.” MASSEY

Funeral Services for Asa “A.J.” Massey, 83, of Chickasha , will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2008, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel.

Asa Massey was born May 4, 1925 in Chickasha the son of Asa Massey Jr. and Vivian F. Elgin Massey. He died May 17, 2008 in Oklahoma City .

Asa grew up in Chickasha graduating from Chickasha High School in 1943, where he was active in FFA and football. After high school he enlisted in the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Belleau Woods during World War II.

After returning home from the war he met Louella G. Vogel. They were united in marriage on May 28, 1948 in Chickasha .

Asa’s work in the oilfield took him and Louella many places nationally and internationally. After forty two years in the oil field he retired from Chevron in 1990.

After retirement he enjoyed his time farming, working cattle and most of all the Bar B Q cook outs with his family. He was a member of the Masons, American Legion and the 1st Christian Church.

Asa is preceded in death by both parents, and wife Louella.

Survivors include sons and daughter-in-laws: Kenneth and Jane Massey of Weatherford and Ralph and Cindy Massey, of Edmond ; Sister Gwen Eisenhour, of Tucson , AZ ; granddaughters and spouses: Azurde` and Robert Jump, of Duncan , Kendra and Terry Wyatt, of Duncan, Jennifer, Jessica, and Cassidy Massey, all of Edmond ; Great-grandchildren: Colton and Hunter Jump and Kenneth Blake Wyatt, all of Duncan .

Family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday night from 5 to 7 p.m..

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

Cyrus Dewey “Cy” Shaw

Cyrus Dewey “Cy” Shaw passed on to be with his Lord on April 26, 2008. Cy was born on Oct. 17, 1932 to Noah Wilber Shaw and Mary Ellen Blanton Shaw in Chickasha. Cy graduated high school from Tuttle in 1952. He was drafted into the army and married his high school sweetheart Norma Jean Wood. Cy and Norma have one son Michael David Shaw, born in 1954 in El Paso, Texas. Cy went on to a career as a trucker for 35 years and over one million accident-free miles. Cy was dedicated to his family. He spent his early years as a member of the Tuttle Nazarene Church and as a teenager, joined the Methodist Church where he served as long as he was able.

Cy was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mary June French, and brother James Shaw. He is survived by his wife Norma Shaw, son Mike Shaw, two grandchildren, Tonya Michelle and Thomas John Shaw, and two great grandchildren, Summer Celeste and Esteven Michael Shaw, all of the home.

He is also survived by one brother, Wilbur Shaw of Chickasha and one sister, Pearl McClain of Blanchard, plus a host of nieces and nephews and cousins.

Aubrey Ewing

Aubrey Ewing, 72, of Perryton, Texas, formerly of Cement, died May 3, 2008. Services were held May 7, 2008 in Perryton, Texas. Burial was with Boxwell Brothers of Perryton, Texas.

He was a member of Ochiltree Lodge No. 910 AF and AM, the Lubbock Scottish Rite and Khiva Shrine.

Ewing was born May 21, 1935 in Tuttle and moved to Cement as a young boy. He was preceded in death by his parents Alva and Juanita Ewing and brother Jerry Ewing.

Survivors include his wife Linda; two daughters, Connie Millet of California and Karla Davis of Elk City; a son, Jim Ewing of Claremore; a sister Wanda Brown of Chickasha; a stepson Gaylord Dean Irvin of Borger, Texas; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and three step grandchildren, Devin, Megan and Garret Irvin of Borger, Texas.

Memorials were made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Galveston, Texas.

HAROLD LEYMOND CHILDERS

Funeral service for Harold Leymond Childers, age 76, of Duncan will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, June 6, 2008, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel.

Harold was born the son of Jess Childers and Esther Voss Childers on September 24, 1931, in Hector, Arkansas. He died on June 2, 2008, in Duncan, Oklahoma.

Harold entered the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. After the war, he came to Chickasha where he met his wife, Anne Blacksher. They were married on June 2, 1956, in Wichita Falls, Texas. While in Chickasha, Harold worked as an electrician for various contractors before starting his own electrician business. Harold lived in Chickasha for many years and moved to Duncan in 1998.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and his wife, Anne Childers.

Survivors include:

Son & Wife: Ronnie Childers & Regina of Blanchard, Oklahoma

Daughter & Husband: Debbie Unwin & Alfred of Salem, Oregon

Daughter: Donna Childers of Duncan, Oklahoma.Son: Bruce Childers of Chickasha, Oklahoma

Step-son: Ricky Malone of Ringling, Oklahoma. Brothers: Leon and Bob

Sisters: Maggie and Mabeline

Thirteen Grandchildren

Twelve Great Grandchildren

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.

BETTY I. CAVES

Betty I. Caves, age 76, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Odyssey House after a short illness. She was born October 22, 1931 at Bridgecreek, to John and Tressie (Eades) McKinney and grew up in the Bridgecreek/Tuttle communites. She and Bill Caves were married on June 22, 1948 in Tuttle, where they lived and raised their family. She was presently a resident of Arbor House in Mustang.

Betty loved to fish, read and spend time with her family. Betty was a recent member of Tuttle Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, one granddaughter Shelly, one sister Wanda and one brother Kenneth. Survivors include one son Billy W. Caves and wife Vicki of Tuttle, two daughters Peggy Smith and husband Jess of Oklahoma City and Cristi Vela and husband Tray of Yukon, six grandchildren, Stacey, Kimberly and husband Kolby, Lindsay and husband Paul, Jennifer, Candace and Zachary, seven great grandchildren Jordan, Madison, Morgan, Paighton, Savannah, Kamryn, Haleigh and Baby Kaleb, due any day. Also by two brothers Don McKinney and Claude, Dan McKinney and wife Billie both of Tuttle, two sisters LaNorma Canary of Newcastle and JoAnn Wakefield and husband L.G. of Tuttle and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family extends a very special thank you to Odyssey House and staff for their loving and personal care during Betty’s stay there. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2008 at Tuttle Christian Church with interment following in Fairview Cemetery, under the direction of McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service, Mustang, Oklahoma.

HAROLD LEYMOND CHILDERS

Funeral services for Harold Leymond Childers, age 76, of Duncan were held on Friday, June 6, 2008, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment was in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Services were under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.

Duane Wigley

Funeral services for Duane Wigley, 74, of Chickasha, Oklahoma were held Tuesday, June 10, 2008 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.

Duane Wigley was born February 15, 1934 in Mulberry, Arkansas the son of William Jennings and Gladys (Albright) Wigley and died June 6, 2008 in Chickasha.

Duane moved to Tuttle from Lookeba as a teenager and attended school at Tuttle. He and Shirlene Wood were married June 28,1952 in Chickasha. After moving to Chickasha, Duane worked with his father-in-law, LaRoy Wood, doing carpenter and construction work. He later owned and operated Wigley Construction Company.

He was a member of the Parkview Christian Church and served as a deacon and worked with different youth groups in church and on special trips. Duane

worked with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and Chickasha Little League. He was secretary of the Local Carpenters Union, board member of Norge Water Board and was a charter member and president of the Chickasha Swinging Chicks Square Dance Club.

He was associated with Winnebago-Itasca Travel and served as a coordinator.

Duane was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey Lynn Wigley on November 22, 1977 and Martin Duane Wigley on November 9, 1992; a great grandson, Logan Wigley; and his parents.

Survivors include his wife Shirlene Wigley of the home; two sons, Randy Wigley of Cement and Steve Wigley and wife, Cheryl, of Amber; two sisters, Doris Marie McElhaney of Tuttle and Barbara Jo DeGiusti of Tuttle; one brother, Jimmy Don Wigley of Tuttle; grandchildren Allison Wigley, Amy McCracken, Jason Wigley, Brittney Wigley and Tisha Wigley; one great grandchild, Shylah Wigley; foster daughter Dee Marrin; and many friends.

Interment was in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
