Mae Goss

Mae Goss, 92, Altus, died Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, 11 days following her 92nd birthday. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2005 at First Assembly of God with Rev. Richard Ventonis and Rev. J.V. Oden officating. Burial will follow services at th Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

She was born on January 29, 1913 in Eustace, Texas to William Jackson and Maudie Irene (Rolison) Ashton. She attended school in Eustace, Texas. She married J. W. Goss on February 1, 1928 in Anderson County, Texas. To this union one son and three daughters were born. They also adopted a son. The Goss family moved to Oklahoma in the 1940's where they settled on a farm near Elmer, Oklahoma. She worked tirelessly raising her children. She was a good mother, cook and farmers wife, helping with all phases of farm life. No one could bake a pie or make butter rolls any better. It was there her family learned to eat them with gusto. She helped her husband with rental property and worked at Kastner's Laundry for several years. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Altus for over 60 years. She was a crafter and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, ceramics and making stuffed animals. She was also very fond of her doll collection. She loved all types of craftwork and most of all helping with charities.

Even when she was busy with all her other activities she never missed a chance to go fishing. She could catch, clean, fry and eat more fish than anyone.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband J.W. in 1989; five brothers; four sisters; one son Billy; one daughter Levie; one grand daughter; one three grandsons and one great grandson. .

She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law; Carmie and Glen Allen of Altus; Maudie Keenan of Westminster, California; one son and daughter-in-law, William King and Ona Goss of Orange, California; a sister-in-law, Velma Ashton of Petrolia, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins; special friends, Olene Reeves and Thomas Holt and new friend Carleen. .

The Goss Family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Kincannon Funeral Home.

Tommie Ruth Williams Griffis

Funeral services for Tommie Ruth Williams Griffis, 89, Altus, are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 13, 2004 at the Elm & Hudson Church of Christ with Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at the Victory Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

On December 10, 2004 one of God's singers was called home. Tommie Ruth Williams Griffis was born January 15, 1915 to Tom E. and Ada (Coker) Willis near Shelbyville, Tennessee. The family moved to Oklahoma in December of 1929. Tommie married G. W. Williams on January 8, 1936 in Altus, Oklahoma. They were blessed with five children:: Marietta, T.E., Jane, Sue, and Judy.

Tommie was a faithful servant of our Lord and a member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ. She was retired fron Kellwood's and had worked as a cook at the hospital, Duke Schools, and Alberto's and Cattlemen's restaurants. Tommie had enjoyed working with the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion and had served as president for several years. Her hobbies included singing, gardening, canning, painting, crocheting, and knitting. She especially loved making quilts and had made a quilt for each child and grandchild. After her first husband died in 1978, Tommie married Walter Griffis in April 1981. They enjoyed 23 years together.

Tommie was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Edwin Willis and Dr. Glenn Willis; two sisters, Corrine Hunt and Dorothy Podmajersky; her first husband, G.W. Williams, one daughter, Judy Bennight; and one son-in-law C.D. Marsh.

Tommie is survived by her husband, Walter; two brothers, Park Willis and Jess Willis and wife Barbara; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Ann Willis; one brother-in-law Bion Hunt; three daughters, Marietta Montgomery and husband Dale, Jane Breeding and husband Bill, and Sue Marsh; one son Dr. T. E. Williams; and Oscar and Ina Bennight. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Mona McDow, Monty Montgomery, Donna Marsh, Janet DeHoogh, Dianna Jarvis, Keith Breeding, Angus Black, Lynn Bennight, and Dr. Bob Williams; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ellen Vernell Helf

Ellen Vernell Helf, 84, of Altus, died Nov. 16, 2004, at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Memorial services are 11 a.m. Saturday Nov. 20, 2004, at Kincannon Funeral Home Chapel.

Helf was born in Lipan, Texas, on Feb. 16, 1920, to Fred and Jessie Jones.

She graduated High School in Tipton and later attended Draughons Business College in Oklahoma City.

She married Fred Helf in Tipton on Sept. 3, 1936.

She was a longtime member of Thomas St. Church of Christ and taught Bible classes for 45 years in Altus, in Texas and in California.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank; son, Jon and her mother and father as well as two brothers, Ed and Philip Jones.

She is survived by three sisters, Marguerite and husband Leonard Gray of Tipton, Jo Leverett of Bakersfield, Calif., and Joy Gatz and husband Joe of Broken Arrow; a brother, Jerry Jones of Dallas; and a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Davis of California.

Kathleen Mason

Kathleen Mason, 98, Altus, died Thursday, December 23, 2004 at English Village Manor. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2004 at the Altus City Cemetery with Bill Osborne officiating. Services are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

She was born June 4, 1906 to Mr. and Mrs. Brackeen in Texas. Her mother's maiden name was Couch. She attended school in Corsicana, Texas. She married Lee Mason in Altus, Oklahoma. She continued her education and became a Registered Nurse. She was Dr. Abernathy's nurse in Altus for about 25 years. She was a long time member of the Thomas Street Church of Christ. In her retirement years she enjoyed painting and helping others.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, David and Jimmy Mason and a special friend, Buddy Allen.

She is survived by her nephew, Bill Brackeen, of Corsicana, Texas; a cousin, Connie Brackeen of Kerrville, Texas and a special friend, Lois Allen of Borger, Texas.

Elsie McCaslan

Elsie McCaslan, long time Jackson County resident, died Thursday at Plantation Village Nursing Home. Graveside rites will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 11, 2004 at the Blair Cemetery with Pastor Dick Chapman officiating. Services are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Elsie was born in Tishomingo, OK to Hattan and Belle (Johnson) Allen and moved at an early age to Jackson County. She attended school at Ozark and was a graduate of Warren High School. She married Alva Hayes McCaslan in Vernon, TX in 1945 and two daughters were born to this union. Elsie was a homemaker most of her life. She was devoted to her family and was an excellent seamstress.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Herman Allen, Willard Allen and Dillard Allen, three sisters, Lona Inklebarger, Lucille Allen and Coleen Norton, and a great-grandson.

Survivors include her daughters Jo Ann Patterson and husband Mike of Altus, OK; Dixie Cummins and husband Gary of Altus, OK; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bill and Virginia McCaslan of Cushing, OK; a brother-in-law Lew Runion of Tuscon, AZ; three sisters-in-law, Oleta Allen and Myrtle Allen of Altus, OK and Othalene McCaslan of Tipton, CA; grandchildren, Chris Cummins, Tiffany Willis and Liz Tovar of Altus, Brad Patterson of Weatherford, OK and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. tonight at the funeral home.

Pamela Sue Conaway

Pamela Sue Conaway, 45, died Saturday, March 18, 2006 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Chuck Stillwell officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

She was born on October 12, 1960 at Self Ridge A.F.B. in Mt. Clements, Michigan to Kenneth Eugene and Joyce Francis (Rising) Fall. She graduated from Altus High School in 1979 and attended vocational technical school for one year to study medical transcription. She married Gerald 'Gee' Conaway on May 15, 1982 in Altus, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 1997. She worked at Wal-Mart for about six years and was also a back up customer service manager (CSM). She was proud of her work and appreciated her friends at work. She was a Christian, enjoyed bingo, crochet, card games and spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a twin brother at birth. She is survived by one daughter and one son, Rebecca and Dennis Conaway, both of the home in Altus; one brother Mike Fall and wife Dana of Oklahoma City, Ok; one sister Sherrie Thompson and husband Donnie of Waco, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Corey English, Albuquerque, N.M.; Nancy Hake of Imperial, Mo; and many friends.

The Conaway Family will greet friends Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kincannon Funeral Home.

Marvlynn Jordan

Marvlynn Jordan, 65, Lone Wolf, OK, died Saturday April 1, 2006 at the Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. Memorial Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 8, 2006 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Randy Mitchell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Marvlynn Winters was born August 21, 1940 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Marvin and Elizabeth Lucille (Door) Winters. She married Gary Jordan of April 16, 1989 in Denton, TX. Marvlynn loved animals, especially raising mini horses. She enjoyed flowers and gardening and growing roses.

Her parents, Marvin and Elizabeth Lucille, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Gary Jordan of Lone Wolf, OK; her daughter, Dawn Langham and husband Ron of Lone Wolf, OK; her son, Cliff Fennell of Hobart, OK; her brother, Jim Winters and wife Betty of Houston, TX; six grandchildren, April, Jason, Jesse, Elizabeth, Amanda and Daniel and three great grandchildren, Aerial, Gracie and Conner.

LaMoine M. Sager

LaMoine M. Sager, Altus, passed away Monday, May 1, 2006 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. A Vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 A.M. Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Joe Arledge officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

LaMoine Marvin Sager was born in Bellefonte, PA to Gilbert and Annabelle (Stere) Sager. He joined the United States Air Force, serving his country proudly in the Vietnam War before retiring at the rank of MSGT in 1978. He married Theresa Brosky and to this union, four children were born. He later managed the Altus City Pool until his retirement. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and playing golf. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Altus.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Beverly Hendershot. He is survived by his wife, Theresa, of the home; three daughters Debora Mrstik and husband David of Rosamond, CA, Coleen Alexander and husband Clark of Prattville, AL, Lezlie Parker and husband Scott of Castlerock, CO; one son Shawn Sager and wife Wendy of Hess, OK; six grandchildren, Kyle Alexander, Kasey Alexander, Brandon Parker, Lindsay Parker, Kaylyn Sager, and Kallie Sager.

Rosella "Pete" Saker

Rosella “Pete” Saker, 85, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2008 in the Clinton VA Hospital. Services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 14 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Jude officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Rosella Peter Saker was born March 10, 1923 in Goshen, New York to Burtros R. and Alba (Peter) Saker. He attended and graduated from school in New York. He married Loretta Grace Denina in 1942 at New Orleans, Louisiana. He also joined the United States Air Force in July of that same year. He remained in the military until his retirement as a Chief Master Seargent in November of 1976. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He founded the Jesus, Mary and Joseph Aesthetic Society which was blessed by Pope John 23. He loved to pray, read, paint, draw, do metal work, and carve wood.

Pete is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Sherlock, and Anna Saker; one brother-in-law, Arthur Sherlock.

He is survived by five daughters; Dorothy Maram and husband Bob of Schaumburg, IL; Anna Deschino and husband Bob of Highland Ranch, CO; Cabrini Nolls and husband Jerry of Cheyenne, WY; Mary Cox of Northport, FL; and Bernadette Howell and husband David of Altus, OK; seven sons, Richard Saker of Aurora, CO, Peter Saker and wife Linda of Lihue, HI, David Saker of Houston, TX, Russ Saker of Wichita, KS, Joseph Saker of Lakewood, WA, Louie Saker of Sarasota, FL, and Michael Saker of Wichita, KS; twenty seven grandchildren, David Maram, Elizabeth Maram, Peter Saker, Richelle Saker, Salvatore Deschino, Stephanie Morris, Antonette Leflar, Michel Deschino, Tina Ahlbreght, Amy, Paul, Matthew, Christopher, and Joseph Saker, Anthony Nolls, Araina Veneshell, Shawn Estell, Shannon Garcia, Shane Estell, Christina Slocum, Jason Cox, Tiffany Cox, Jissica Cox, Mica Saker, Brandon, Kala and Kirk Luebking; seventeen great grandchildren, Michael, Christian, Austin, Ryan, Owen, Claire Marie, Mariah, Salvatore, Madison, Mason, Max, Jesse, Dilan, Alec, Madi, Aspen, Cloe and many friends.

Raymond Salomon, Sr.

Raymond Salomon, Sr., Altus, died Thursday, December 28, 2006. Graveside services, under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the Altus Restlawn Cemetery with Frank Maldonado officiating.

He was born on August 25, 1946 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Sabas and Paula (Lopez) Salomon. He attended school in Altus. He married Maria Perez on November 22, 1965 in Frederick, Oklahoma. He had worked at the Martha Gin for several years. He was a member of the Fountain of Salvation Pentecostal Church. His hobbies included drawing, painting, craftwork, woodwork, fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father and three brothers, David, Cruz and Juan Salomon. He is survived by his mother, Paula Salomon; four daughters, Marie, Rebecca and Debbie Salomon, all of San Antonio, Texas and Crystal Salomon of Martha, Ok; three sons, Raymond Salomon, Jr. and wife Rita of Altus; Gilbert P. Salomon of San Antonio, Tx; Reynaldo Cruz Salomon of Martha, Ok; five sisters, Gloria Maldonado and husband Tony of Altus; Eloidia Revilla and Juanita Revilla of Altus; Eloisa Revilla and husband Isaias of Blair; Adelina Ybarra and husband Luis of Duke; three brothers, Victor Salomon and wife Francis of Martha; Joe Salomon of Altus; Paul Salomon and wife Rosalinda of Altus; sixteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many friends.

Elsa Shears Sanchez

Elsa Shears Sanchez, 46, Wellington, TX and formerly of Altus, OK, died Tuesday May 23, 2006 in Amarillo, TX. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 27, 2006 at the Altus City Cemetery with Brother Robert Forks officiating. Services are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Elsa Shears was born October 28, 1959 in Toledo, OH to Joe and Carolina (Corona) Shears. She attended Altus Public Schools. She married Luis Sanchez in Vernon, TX. Elsa worked as homemaker and especially enjoyed story telling and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling. She was of the Catholic faith.

She was preceded in death by her father, a sister, Carolina and a brother, Ruben. She is survived by her husband Luis; her mother, Carolina; one daughter, Roberta Alcorta of Lawton, OK; two sons, Albert Alcorta of Lawton, OK and Ramon Herrera III of Wellington, TX; three sisters, Janie Raper and husband David of Red Oak, TX, Julie Hill and husband Richard of Frederick, OK and Virginia White of Oklahoma City, OK; two brothers, Gasper Shears and wife Philadelphia of Altus, OK and Joe Shears III of Altus, OK; four grandchildren, Jewel, Cameron, Angelica and Donnie III and a host of friends. Viewing and visitation will be available Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Kincannon Funeral Home.
