Mary Jo “Jody” Lucas

Mary Jo “Jody” Lucas, 80, of Altus, OK. died Sunday, July 23rd, 2006 at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2006 at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Duree officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

“Jody” Lucas was born November 10, 1925 in Vernon, TX. to Ed and Hattie (Killough) Stephens. She attended school at Elmer and Southside, and was a member of the Southside Baptist Church of Altus. She married George Crouch on April 15th, 1942. He preceded her in death in 1972. On September 1st, 1972 she married Chester Jones of Altus, who preceded her in death in October of 1998. She married Roy Lucas, also of Altus, February 28th, 2004. She worked as a sales representative, for Avon, for 39 ½ years and her hobbies included cooking, canning, sewing and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands George Crouch and Chester Jones, a brother Ross Stephens, and an infant daughter Starla Jean Crouch. She is survived by her husband, Roy Lucas of the home; two daughters, Barbara Belshe of Irving, Texas; Janet Fowler and husband Jerry of Poulan, Georgia; three sons, Floyd Crouch and wife Lois of Denver, Co; Stephen Crouch and wife Lorrie of Pt. Charlotte, Fl; Jerry Lucas and wife Eva Letha of Elmer, Ok; three sisters, Alyne Claiborne of Altus, Ok; Christine Heaton of San Diego, Ca; Ruth Dirks and husband John of Derby, Ks; brother, Ray Stephens and wife Linda of Denton, Tx; brother-in-law Harold Crouch and wife Jean of Elmer, OK.; a sister-in-law Nedra Mitchell and her husband Basil of Hereford, Tx.; twelve grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and many friends. The family will greet visitors Wednesday evening, July 26th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Kincannon Memorial chapel.

Roy James Lucas

Roy James Lucas, 90, Elmer, long time area farmer, died Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the Southside Baptist Church. Burial will follow services at the Hess Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Roy was born on August 7, 1917, in Wade, Oklahoma to Thomas Leonard and Lula Hale (Adams) Lucas. He married Elizabeth, “Bessie” Holder on October 30, 1937. He married Mary Jo, “Jody” Jones on February 28, 2004.

He attended school at Eldorado, Oklahoma. He farmed wheat, milo, cotton, and ran cattle. He was in the custom combine business for several years making his way from the Texas panhandle to Nebraska. Work was his hobby. Roy is a member of Southside Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth, “Bessie”, Lucas in 2000; he was preceded in death by wife, Jody Lucas, in 2006; his parents, a daughter, Roylyn in 1997, and one sister.

He is survived by one son, Jerry Lucas, and his wife, Eva Letha, of Elmer; and one son-in-law, Guy Tyra and wife, Laura, of Hudson Oaks, Tx.; five grandchildren, Timmy Tyra and wife, Jennifer, of Covington, Tx.; Tammy Haggard, and husband, Tim of Hudson Oaks, Tx.; Lisa and husband, Matt Coppock, of Elmer, Lori Sisson and husband, Carl, of Jacksonville, Fl.; and Greg Lucas of Elmer; ten great-grandchildren, Evan Coppock of Elmer; Blake Sisson and Lauren Sisson of Jacksonville, Fl; Dustin Lucas, Dylan Lucas, and Darren Lucas of Elmer; Cody Tyra, Ethan Tyra, Rachel Tyra, and Justin Tyra of Covington, Tx.; four step-children, Barbara Belshe of Irving, Tx; Janet Fowler and husband, Jerry, of Poulan, Ga.; Floyd Crouch and wife, Lois, of Denver, Co.; and Stephen Crouch and wife, Lorrie, of Pt. Charlotte, Fl.; and one sister, Nedra Mitchell and husband, Basil of Hereford, Tx.

Anthony Jacob Luera

Anthony Jacob Luera, infant son of Kayla Hartford and Matias Luera of Altus, died Thursday, February 3, 2005 in Oklahoma City. He was born on January 29, 2005 in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 7, 2005 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Rev. Buddy Dugan officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Anthony is survived by his parents, Kayla Hartford and Matias Luera of Altus; two brothers, Matias Junior Luera, II and Daylan Michael Luera of Altus; grandmother Caren Hartford of Altus; grandmother Elvia Luera of Altus; grandfather Rick Hartford of Colorado; grandfather Matias Esquivel of Altus; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members.

Ivan Charles Lewis

Ivan Charles Lewis, 87, of Blair, Oklahoma, went to be with Jesus Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at Plantation Village Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 4, 2008 at the Blair First Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at the Blair Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

He was born on February 6, 1921 in Lane County Kansas to Charlie and Stella (Williams) Lewis. He graduated high school at Dighton, Kansas. He married Jacqueline Wheeler on December 22, 1967 at Blair.

Ivan farmed the family farm for his mom during the war years. His love for combines began a life long career of harvesting that lasted 55 years. His venture was to load his combines on trucks and come south from Kansas to follow the wheat harvest back north all the way from Oklahoma to North Dakota. In the fall, he harvested milo in Texas. He loved to play dominos, cards and chess. He especially enjoyed playing games with the grandchildren. No matter who he played, he usually won, but he always let the grandkids win. Ivan was a member of Blair First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-son, Ronnie Wheeler; a grandson, Michael Engle; a great-granddaughter, Mary Katherine McNutt; one daughter-in-law, Billie Lewis; three sons-in-law, Ben Sirmons, Alan Wilcox and Dale Carrico; six brothers; and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife Jacqueline of Blair, OK; three daughters, Carla Carrico of Katy, TX, Cathy Bevers, and husband Donnie of Altus, Maxine Adams and husband, Ronnie, of Weatherford, OK; three sons, Curtis Lewis and wife, Kathy, of Scott City, KS, Quinton Lewis of Blair, and Craig Lewis of Hays, KS; four step-daughters, Roberta Graves and husband, Perry of Blair, Joy Hokett and husband, Darell, of Blair, Bonita Engle and husband, Mike of Altus, and Belinda Wilcox of Altus; one sister, Wanda Brence and husband, Fhilo of Hollister, MO; two brothers, Dales Lewis and wife, Mildred, of Hutchinson, KS; and Lyle Lewis and wife, Harriet of Dighton, KS; two sisters-in-law, Doris Lewis of Dighton, KS, and Dorothy Lewis of Dighton, KS; twenty grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren.

Linda Jane Little

Linda Jane Little, 60, of Altus, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Celebration of life services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Kincannon Funeral Chapel with her sister, Donna Glenn, and close family friend, Andy Ray Phillips, officiating. Burial will be at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Linda was born March 3, 1948 to Harry and June (Host) Baird at the Panama Canal Zone. She graduated high school in 1966 at Wichita, KS. She loved her computer and meeting new people via the internet, making friends all over the world. She loved classic rock music, cats, and writing poetry. In fact, Linda was a nationally published poet. She worked at Arby's, the bakery and the concession stand at the AAFB swimming pool.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by a brother, Greg Baird, and wife, Rita, of Reston VA, and one sister, Donna Glenn of Altus. Linda was recognized as family by the Virgina Phillips family.

Roy James Lucas

James Edwin “Jim” Lyons

James Edwin “Jim” Lyons, 72, Altus, died Saturday, February 7, 2009 at his home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Dr. Roy McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Jim Lyons was born on June 27, 1936 to Edwin J. and Marion (Hayward) Lyons, Jr. in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Pinkerton Military Academy, Londonderry, New Hampshire in 1954. He attained his Associate Degree from New York University. He entered the United States Air Force in 1956, stationed at Altus Air Force Base in 1957 and was honorably discharged as a SSgt. in 1960. He married Norma R. Howard on September 24, 1961 in Altus, Oklahoma. He worked for the Morris Knutson Contracting Co., which was building the area missile sites. He then worked for the Coca-Cola Company, with a delivery route in Southwest Oklahoma. He was the assistant manager at Dunlap’s Department Store, which was in the present day Penny’s, Altus Plaza Shopping Center. He then began work in civil service at Altus Air Force Base, retiring in 2004. He worked as service manager at Johnny Roberts Dodge for a short time before he began driving a school bus for the Altus Public School System in 2006. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Optimist Club, Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100 and Altus Masonic Lodge #62 as a 32nd Degree Mason. He enjoyed fishing, listening to weather scanner, playing and coaching softball, referee basketball games, working with dogs and spending time with friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin J. Lyons, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hayward, Sr.; mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Will A. Howard and many aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife Norma of the home in Altus, OK. and daughter Teki L. Lyons of Nashville, TN; and many friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. The Lyons Family will greet friends Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Kincannon Funeral Home.

Melissa Gayle Lambert

Melissa Gayle Lambert, 37, of Altus passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010 in Houston, Texas. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Altus with Rev. Madison Clinton and Rev. Keith Gillham officiating. Burial will follow at the Navajo Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Melissa was born May 17, 1972 in Altus, OK to Harvey and Helen (Taylor) Kendrix. She attended the Altus Public Schools and graduated from Altus High School in 1990. She received her BA in education from Cameron University. She married Daniel Lambert February 14, 1992 at the First Baptist Church in Altus. Melissa began her teaching career in Altus, but had been currently teaching at the Navajo School for many years until her death. She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. She loved her kids and enjoyed attending their various sports and activities. She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Kendrix. Melissa is survived by her husband, Dan, of the home; one daughter, Lindy Lambert; two sons, Caston Lambert, and Tucker Lambert; her father, Harvey Kendrix and wife, Carol of Altus; two brothers, Gerrid Kendrix and wife Cynthia of Altus, Randy Kendrix and wife Christy of Odessa, TX; and a host of family, friends and former students. The family will host a visitation for family and friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Kincannon Funeral Home. Betty Jean Lampkin

Betty Lampkin, formerly of Altus passed away Sunday, July 26, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Thursday July 30, 2009 at Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Reverend Robert Bostic officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Betty Jean Hill was born October 3, 1931 to John Henry and Ruby Alma (King) Hill in Altus, Oklahoma. Her father, John Hill, was the first black policeman on the City of Altus police force, and the first Altus police officer killed in the line of duty. Betty was the youngest of four children. She graduated in 1951 from Lincoln High School in Altus, Oklahoma. She married Eddie Madden in 1951, in Altus, Oklahoma. She was a nurse, working at Park Lane Manor and Jackson County Memorial Hospital. She married Samuel R. Lampkin in 1970 in Altus, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1975. Betty was a member of the Eastern Star, Daughter of ISIS, and St. John’s Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and visiting with friends.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Samuel Lampkin; and a sister, Martha Paul.

She is survived by Eddie Madden of Lawton, OK; one daughter, Wilber Kay Madden, of Lawton, OK; two sons, Larry Madden of Altus, OK; Steven Madden of Stringtown, OK; two brothers, John Raleigh Hill and wife Jean of Wichita Falls, TX; Norris Henry Hill and wife Lena of Kansas City, MO; niece Phyllis Williams of Altus; nephews, Clarence Paul, Byron Paul, Larry Hill and Harold Jefferson; five grandchildren, Christopher, Eric, Patrice, Stephanie, and Crystal; five great-grandchildren; special friend Betty Madden of Altus, OK; and many friends.

Lillie Mae Lane

Lillie Mae Lane, 92, Altus, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, January 9, 2010. No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Lillie Mae Lane was born July 23, 1917 in Jackson County, Oklahoma to John and Antonia Zeman. She married Haskel Paul Lane on April 5, 1941. She loved to cook and collected many recipes. One of her favorite things to do was making cherry pies. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She also served as member of the American Legion Auxiliary #44, of which she was President for 18 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Sharon Schmidt, her parents, four brothers and two sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Martha Lane of Altus, Oklahoma; a grandson, Kevin McCarty of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a great granddaughter, Erika McCarty of Boston, Massachusetts; a niece, Andrea Santee of Altus, Oklahoma; a nephew, Mike Zeman of Reno, Nevada; three great nephews, Christian, Eric, and David; and a great niece, Noel. Helen Lorrayne Levick

Helen Lorrayne Levick, 84, Altus, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2009 at her home. A private graveside service was held 2:00 PM Friday, September 18, 2009, at the Blair Cemetery. Burial was under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Ms. Levick was born on August 18, 1925 in Blair, Oklahoma to Homer Carl and Lenora (Eaker) Levick. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years before retiring. Survivors include her brother, Jack Levick of Headrick, and many other relatives and friends. Elizabeth Lewis Lidy

Elizabeth Lewis Lidy of Altus, Oklahoma departed this life on March 17, 2010 in her home. A Homegoing Celebration will be 2:00 PM Saturday in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Joseph Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Elizabeth Lewis Lidy was born on March 26, 1938 to Earl, Sr. and Ophia (Hilliard) Williams. Elizabeth was married to Roy Glen Lidy. Mrs. Lidy worked in the laundry for English Village Nursing Home. Elizabeth loved to spend time with her family, cooking, and going fishing. Her parents, a son, Landon Lewis, her second husband, L.W. High, three brothers, LaCurtis, Bernel, and Floyd Williams, and a sister, Mae Williams, precede her in death. She is survived by her ex-husband and father of her children, William Lewis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sons and daughters-in-law, Aubrey Lewis and Rolanda of Altus, and Otis Lewis, Sr. and Felicia of Moore, Oklahoma; six daughters, Linda Lewis and Cecil Adamson of Wellington, Texas, Theresa McKnight of Altus and her ex-husband, Junior McKnight of Little Rock, Arkansas, Angel Lewis of Altus, Jackie Lindsey of Ardmore, Rita Lewis and Floyd Copeland of Altus, and Donna Lee and husband, Sonda, of Deatsville, Alabama; 25 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, two sisters, Laretha Moody of Hugo, Oklahoma and Bernice Thornton of Lawton, Oklahoma; three brothers, Earl Williams, Jr. of Boswell, Oklahoma, Richard Hartman of Hugo, Oklahoma, and Lee Roy Williams of Houston, Texas; her ex-husband, Roy Glen Lidy of Pampa, Texas; and a good friend, Charles Weaver.
