BATES — Jimmy Lee Sherrill, 54, of Bates died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, in his home. He was retired from Tyson Foods in Waldron and a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Weeks Church with burial at Weeks Cemetery near Bates under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
He is survived by his wife, Janis; a stepdaughter, Joyce Larkin of Poteau; a stepson, Christopher Landrum of Houston; two sisters, Mary Stafford and Mona Smallwood, both of Bates; a brother, Charles Sherrill of Bates; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Landrum, Aarron Duncan, Joe Stafford, Charley Abbott, James Kelley, Daniel and Caleb Free and Tommy Jo Burns.

Velma Ragsdale
Velma Ragsdale, 93, of Gore died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, in a Gore nursing home. She was a member of Van Buren First Baptist Church, a former resident of Van Buren and a retired cook at Van Buren School. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis “Bill” Ragsdale; a daughter, Naomi Weatherton; a son, John Robert Ragsdale; her parents, John and Sarah Cooper; and five sisters, Ann Hurst, Winnie Gillespie, Lois Davidson, Ines Ramey and Edna Grimes.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at New Hope Cemetery in Dardanelle under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by six grandchildren, Cindy Potts and her husband John Potts Jr. and Cheryl and Michael Weatherton, all of Sallisaw; Johnny Ragsdale of Pocola, Janis Gregory of Van Buren and James Ragsdale of Fort Smith; and eight great-grandchildren, Jason Gregory of Van Buren, Brandon Frits of Little Rock, Ashley Kopisckle, John H. Potts and Aaron Weatherton, all of Sallisaw, Jake Ragsdale of Plano, Texas, and Jody Ragsdale of Greenwood.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Hospice, 201 W. Okmulgee, Checotah, OK 74426.

Lewis Hardbarger
MARBLE CITY — Lewis W. “Sonnie” Hardbarger, 73, of Marble City died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, in Sallisaw. He was an Army veteran and received a Purple Heart.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Vision of Christ Church with burial at Flute Springs Cemetery in Marble City under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; two sisters, Nancy Locust of Sallisaw and Maxine Conley of Mountainburg; and three brothers, Dwain and George Hardbarger and Leo Buzzard, all of Marble City.
Pallbearers will be Koda Noisey, Michael, Russell, Joe and Little Joe Cheater, Michael Anderson and Derrick Vann.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Samuel Henry
MULDROW — Samuel E. Henry, 83, of Muldrow died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, in Fort Smith. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; five daughters, Brenda Muncy of Golden Valley, Ariz., Deborah Bell and Sandy Madlock, both of Sallisaw, Diane Bailey of Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif., and Karen Whale of Everett, Wash.; two sons, Mark Matlock of Wisconsin and Steve Matlock of Little Rock; 36 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dwane Springwater and Jack Steinnictc.(cq per FH)

Maurine Perry
KEOTA, Okla. — Maurine Perry, 76, of Keota died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was a retired bus driver for Keota Public Schools and the widow of Wolf Perry.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Keota First Baptist Church with burial at Perry Cemetery in Keota under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Keota.
She is survived by four daughters, Linda Scoggins of Keota, Nita Malone of Plano, Texas, Alice Ward of Sallisaw and Delia Sanchez of North Platte, Neb.; three sons, Daniel Hardy of Branson, Mo., and Steven and Kevin Hardy, both of Bradford, Pa.; a sister, Karen Jackson of Kingsdown, Kan.; two brothers, Kenneth Pritchett of Colorado and James Pritchett of Dodge City, Kan.; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Phillip and Jeff Jackson, Tim and Robert Pritchett and Steve and Doug English.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Billy Moore
MULDROW — Billy Wood Moore, 83, of Muldrow died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, in Fort Smith. He was born Aug. 29, 1921, in Sallisaw. He was a retired pharmaceutical salesman for Upjohn Pharmaceutical Co. in El Paso, Texas, where he worked from 1951 to 1982. He was a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in bacteriology and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Van Buren and the Men’s Club at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Fort Smith. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army from June 2, 1942, to Oct. 19, 1945. He fought in northern France, Rhineland, southern France, central Europe and Normandy. He was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds he received in action on Sept. 5, 1944, in France. He was a P.O.W. in Germany.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Fort Smith with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith with full military honors under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Mattie; two daughters, Cathryn Reinoehl of Atlanta and Susan Chesshire of Fort Smith; a son, Richard Moore of Muldrow; a sister, Rachael of Tulsa; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the residence at 505 Oak St. in Muldrow.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 382, Van Buren, AR 72957.

Reba Wilson
STIGLER — Reba A. Wilson, 83, of Stigler died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, in Stigler. She was a hairdresser, a member of the First Baptist Church and the widow of Jack Wilson.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at R.E. Shearwood Memorial Chapel in Stigler with burial at Antioch Cemetery in Stigler under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
She is survived by a son, Bill Wilson of Houston; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The body may be viewed from noon to 8:30 p.m. today.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Prayer Room, 208 N. Broadway, Stigler, OK 74462.

Oma Reynolds
ARKOMA — Oma Lee Metzker Reynolds, 78, of Arkoma died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was born Sept. 11, 1926, in Poteau. She was a homemaker.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Oakland Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, A.J.; six daughters, Shirley Young of Pocola, Karol Traw, Connie Keith, Patsy Johnson and Vickie Lane, all of Arkoma, and Barbara Dunn of Idabel, Okla.; four sons, John Metzker of Heavener, Mike Metzker of Checotah, Okla., and Eddie and Danny Metzker, both of Arkoma; three siblings, Sonny Ward of Fort Gibson, Okla., Wynema Francis of Shady Point and Betty Campbell of Joplin, Mo.; 24 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Daniel, Clay, Alan and Kevin Metzker, Jody Akers, Ryan Dunn, David Graham, Alan Lane, Scott Williams and Tyson Traw.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Joey Betnar
MULDROW — Joey D. Betnar, 40, of Muldrow died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, in Little Rock. He was born Aug. 2, 1964, in Clarksville. He was a parts manager for Crawford Country Ford in Van Buren and a Protestant.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Agent Funeral Home Chapel in Muldrow with burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Muldrow.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle; two sons, Dylan and Nathan Betnar, both of the home; a stepdaughter, Crissa Edwards of the home; her mother, Laquita Cowell of Hartman; a sister, Candi Hamilton of Hector; and a brother, Terry Betnar of Fort Smith.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday.

Bill Couch
POTEAU — Bill Couch, 73, of Poteau died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, in Fort Smith. He was born Oct. 9, 1931, in Poteau.
Funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Oakland Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Nettie; four daughters, Marilyn Oakes, Linda Himes, Tammy Duncan and Peggy Bell, all of Poteau; a son, Terry Couch of Poteau; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Terry Couch, Marty Duncan, Tom and Randy Oakes, Dustin and Oscar Bell, and Stubs and Raymond Thompson.

Howard Laymon
CLARKSVILLE — Howard Doyle “Tincy” Laymon, 65, of Clarksville died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, in Clarksville. He was born June 4, 1939, in Moyers, Okla. He was a truck driver and an Army veteran.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Old Bokoshe Cemetery in Bokoshe under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by a sister, Roberta Pearson of Lavaca; and two brothers, Thomas and Larry Laymon, both of Bokoshe.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Bobby A. Duty
Bobby A. Duty, 39, of Spiro died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, in Spiro. He was born July 30, 1965, in Fort Smith. He was a fork lift operator for Ashley Chemical and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Duty.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Belinda of the home; a stepson, Jeremy and wife Candice Russell of Fort Smith; his mother, Helen Duty of Van Buren; three brothers, Dickie and wife Thelma Duty of Van Buren, Rick Duty of Sallisaw and Roger and wife Catherine Duty of Van Buren; two nieces and nephews; and two grandchildren, Hayden and Kaylee Russell.
The family will visit with friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Clarance D. King
Clarance D. King, 74, of Pocola passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, in a local hospital. He was the owner of Clarance King Trailer Sales, a licensed electrician with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the state of Arkansas, a graduate of Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science and a private pilot. He was a member of Oak Cliff Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Sebastian Lodge No. 706 F&AM and Western Arkansas Consistory, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a 32nd degree Mason.
Funeral service will be noon Monday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Bertha King; a sister, Patricia Ann King; and a brother, D.L. “Don” King.
He is survived by three daughters, Shirley Douglas and husband Bob of Van Buren, Debbie Boyd of Fort Smith, and Teresa Ludlow and husband Brian of Hackett; six brothers, Johnny King and Carol of Portales, N.M., Elvoy King and Glenda of Apollo Beach, Fla., Ronnie King and Naoma of Cedarville, Terry King and Cathy of Port Lavaca, Texas, R.A. King and Kathy of Lavaca, and Gary King and Delana of Denton, Texas; sister-in-law, Linda King of Lavaca; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and Maria Silguero and her children, Jose Garcia, Erika Garcia and Leslie Silguero.
Pallbearers will be Ray Foster, Bill Chandler, Gordon Brown, Bill Watts, Kurtis Douglas and Jason Moorman.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
