SPIRO — Randy Michael Flaherty Massey, 32, of Spiro died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, in Spiro. He attended the Calvary Southern Baptist Church in Spiro.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday in Mallory Funeral Home Chapel of Spiro, with burial at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro.
He is survived by his wife, Brigette; one daughter, Shantel Massey of the home; his parents, Ruth Massey and Curtis Flaherty of Spiro; his grandmother, Ethel Flaherty of Spiro; one sister, Kathleen Flaherty of Spiro; and a brother, Tommy Flaherty of Spiro.

Kenneth Goines
PHILLIPSBURG, Mo. — Kenneth Eugene “Sonny” Goines, 57, of Phillipsburg, formerly of Panama, Okla., died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in Springfield, Mo. He retired from the Army.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories of Poteau, with burial at Greenhill Cemetery in Cameron.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela; two daughters, Rebecca Michalski of Lahabra, Calif., and Teresa Goines of Phillipsburg; one stepdaughter, Tiffany Locklear of the home; two sons, Kevin of the home and Robert of Berne, Ind.; one stepson, Gino Locklear of the home; his parents, Warren and Earline Carter of Chico, Calif.; one sister, Eddye Baker of Willows, Calif.; three brothers, Earl Wayne Goines of Pocola, Larry Goines of Cameron and Robert Goines of Poteau; two granddaughters, Adrianna and Brianna; and two grandsons, Casey and Jacob.
Pallbearers will be Keith and Clinton Darneal, Scott and Eddy Goines, Roger Claphan and Gary Sansoucie.

Jacelyn Ford
POTEAU – Jacelyn Rae Louise Ford, 1-month-old daughter of Lee and Blaire Ford of Poteau, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at home. She was born Nov. 30, 2004, in Oklahoma City.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Oakland Cemetery.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Cayden Ford of the home; her maternal grandparents, Rick and Terri Peters of Poteau; paternal grandfather, Eddie Ford of Poteau; maternal great-grandparents, Ozzie and Jackie Peters of Bartlesville, Okla.; paternal great-grandparents, Loreine and Ed Walker of Poteau; and maternal great-great-grandmother, Louise Summers of Claremore, Okla.

Harvey Painter
POCOLA — Harvey Painter, 65, of Pocola died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, in Pocola.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Shady Point Cemetery, weather permitting. If not, then a service will be held at Mallory Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro.
He is survived by four daughters, Brenda McCage of Shady Point, Linda Durant of Panama, Teresa Painter of Wayne, Okla., and Saundra Painter of San Bernardino, Calif.; a son, Harvey Painter Jr. of Panama; a sister, Wanda Lamb of Shady Point; a brother, Cledeth Painter of Harvest, Ala.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Don, J.R. and Lloyd Smith, Howard Perkins, Henry Blair Sr. and Henry Blair Jr.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Daniel Karl III
POCOLA — Daniel Dale Karl III, infant son of Rhanni Shelby of Cecil and Daniel Dale Karl Jr. of Charleston, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, in a Little Rock hospital.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandmother, Teresea Bowles of Charleston; and his maternal grandparents, Ronnie and Lisa Shelby of Cecil.

John Ross
POTEAU — John A. Ross, 85, of Poteau died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, in a Fayetteville hospital. He was born Nov. 27, 1919, in Nekona, N.D. He was a retired machinist, a member of Poteau Church of Christ and was the widower of his first wife, Gladys, and second wife, Willie.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Grace Evangel Chapel in Fayetteville under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by three sons, John Ross Jr. of Reno, Nev., Donald Ross of Sparks, Nev., and David Ross of Fayetteville; two stepdaughters, Jimmie Lou Smythe of Poteau and Christine Pedroza of Sun Valley, Nev.; three stepsons, Richard Woolsey of Coos Bay, Ore., William Woolsey of Granite Bay, Calif., and John Gaines of Garden Grove, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Claude Bennett
WISTER — Claude “Sam” Bennett, 83, of Wister died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, in Poteau. He was born Oct. 20, 1921, in Glendale, Okla. He was in the lumber and sawmill business, he attended Ellis Chapel Church and was the widower of Polly Bennett.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Ellis Chapel Church in Wister with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Velma; a daughter, Sherry Hayes of Poteau; two stepchildren, James Martindale and Dana Drury, both of Wister; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Benjamin Hinton
POTEAU — Benjamin C. Hinton, 80, of Poteau died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, in Poteau. He was born Aug. 2, 1924, in Bokoshe. He was a retired coal miner, a member of Keota Masonic Lodge No. 286 and the United Mine Workers of America.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Poteau with burial at Old Bokoshe Cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Glenna; three daughters, Sharon Horton of Broken Arrow, Okla., Susie McGehee and Cheryl Hughes, both of Poteau; a son, Gary Hinton of Bokoshe; two sisters, Leona Alkire and Neva Thomas, both of Manteka, Calif.; a brother, Gerald Hinton of Poteau; 14 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chris, Kendall and Joe Horton, Barry Hughes, David Hinton and Roy Vineyard.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Edna Slote
Edna Edith Slote, 90, of Van Buren, AR, formerly of Poteau, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, in Van Buren. She was born Sept. 24, 1914, in Hartford. She was a homemaker, a member of Cameron First Baptist Church and the widow of James T. Slote.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau.
She is survived by two daughters, Addie Collier of Poteau and Linda Burns of Van Buren; a son, James A. Slote of Hackett; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Araceli Nava
POTEAU — Araceli Martinez Nava, infant daughter of Pedro Rojo and Lilia Martinez of Poteau, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004. She was born Nov. 28, 2004, in Poteau.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today a Oakland Cemetery Pavilion in Poteau with burial at Oakland Cemetery (Babyland) under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Victor and Alex Nava; maternal grandparents, Ceferina Trejo and Ricardo Olguin; and paternal grandparents, Pompella Ramirez and Juan Saldana.

Anna Glenn
POTEAU — Anna Mae Glenn, 93, of Poteau died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, in Poteau. She was born Sept. 23, 1911, in Hill Community, Okla. She was a retired teacher after 43 years, and taught at Shady Point, Liberty, Fanshawe, and Howe Elementary schools. She, was interim music teacher at elementary schools in LeFlore County, was a past member of Oklahoma Education Association, National Education Association, a longtime member of Alpha Delta Kappa, a member of LeFlore County Retired Teachers Association and a lifelong member of Community of Christ Church. She was the widow of John Glenn Sr.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Howe Cemetery in Howe.
She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Vandever of Tulsa; four sons, John Glenn Jr. and Thomas Glenn, both of Poteau, Warren Glenn of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jim Glenn of Van Buren; a sister, Lavisa Hicks of Poteau; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Lockhart, Gordon Semore, Eddie Glenn, J. Hicks, Frank Howery and Jerry McAlester.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Guy Clay Jr.
STIGLER — Guy Allen Clay Jr., 89, of Stigler died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, in Stigler. He worked for more than 35 years at the Stigler News Sentinel. He was a charter member of Haskell County Recreation Club, a 32nd degree Mason, a 56-year member of Stigler Masonic Lodge, and a charter member of the Masonic Rainbow for Girls as a Rainbow Dad.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Stigler City Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Stigler.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; two daughters, Isla Burge and Judy Clay, both of Stigler; two sons, James Clay of Baltimore and David Clay of Stigler; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Nelson Heflin, Bill Cox, Sam Box, Chuck Crase, James Love and Jerry Garland.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Mary Davis
CAMERON — Mary R. Davis, 22, of Cameron died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was born Aug. 22, 1982, in Poteau. She was a CASC student.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Evans and Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Greenhill Cemetery in Cameron.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Mary and Jack Stewart of Semmes, Ala., and her father, Billy Davis of Cameron; two brothers, Christopher Meeder of Fort Smith and Billy J. Davis of Semmes, Ala.; her paternal grandmother, Anna Davis of Spiro; and her maternal grandmother, Aline Cody of Cameron.
Pallbearers will be Don Becker, Steven Barber, Tony Neace, Marty Turner, Joseph Cody and Joe Petit.

Johnny Kitchens
WISTER — Johnny Glen Kitchens, 74, of Wister died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, in Poteau. He was born May 8, 1930, in LeFlore. He was librarian for Fanshawe and Monroe schools, a retired teacher who had served as county superintendent of LeFlore County Schools, an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, a member of Red Oak Masonic Lodge and a Baptist.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by a daughter, Lori Black of Hackett; two sons, Doyle and Lewis Kitchens, both of Wister; a sister, Mary McElroy of Banning, Calif.; five brothers, Neil Kitchens of Arkoma, Clyde Kitchens of Red Oak, Douglas Kitchens of Weatherford, Okla., Kenneth Kitchens of Sallisaw and Carroll Kitchens of Newport News, Va.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Norma Semple
AMARILLO, Texas — Norma Gault Semple, 88, of Amarillo, formerly of Poteau, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, in Amarillo. She was born Nov. 15, 1916, in Beltrami, Minn. She had lived in Amarillo for 15 months but she formerly was a resident of Poteau for 30 years. She was born Norma Geneva Menke. She was a bookeeper and the widow of Wallace Gault.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by her husband, Elmer Semple of Haywood, Wis.; and two brothers, Clarence Menke of Hackett and Norman Menke of Wisconsin.
