Minnie Callaway
KINTA, Okla. — Minnie Callaway, 83, of Kinta died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, in Stigler, Okla.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Palestine Church with burial at Palestine Cemetery in Quinton, Okla. under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home in Quinton.
She is survived by her husband, Travis; a daughter, Rose Clawser of Kinta; four sons, John Callaway of Hodgen, Thomas Callaway of Denver, Robert Callaway of Kinta, and Randall Callaway of Auburn, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brian, Scott, Sean and Sam Callaway, Philip Hawthorne and Jerry Davison.
The body may be viewed from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at the funeral home.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Goldie Martin
Goldie Leah Ogden Sisco Martin, 97, of Fort Smith, AR died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, in a Fort Smith hospital.
She was born Nov. 29, 1907, in Quinton, Okla.
She had retired as a retail sales person from Froug’s Department Store in Fort Smith.
She had also worked at the Boston Store, Hunt’s, The Marietta Shop and S & Q Clothiers.
She and her husband Dave owned and managed two grocery stores in the 1940s on the south side of Fort Smith.
She was also the owner of the Southern Candy Vendors, one of the first vending machine businesses in Fort Smith in the 1950s.
In 1955, she joined Goddard United Methodist Church, where she sang in the Chancel Choir.
She was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Harvesters/Crusaders Sunday school class, the Goddard Quilters and a past president of the Gladys Hassler Guild.
Previously, she was a member of the St. Luke’s Methodist Church, now known as Wesley, and a past president of the Women’s Society of Christian Service.
Before that, her husband Dave was a Methodist circuit preacher in the 1940s and 1950s, and she attended churches in Bonanza, Arkoma, Bokoshe, Moffett, Red Oak, Panama and Pocola.
She was also a past president of the Southside Elementary School PTA.
On her 90th birthday, she received a key to the city of Fort Smith from the mayor and a letter of congratulations from President Bill Clinton at a party in her honor held at Goddard.
She was the widow of Carl Martin.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Goddard United Methodist Church in Fort Smith, with burial at Forest Park Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by three daughters, Helen Wilson of Fort Smith, Virginia Wright of Hot Springs and Mary Rush of El Dorado and Fajardo, Puerto Rico; two sisters, Pansy Whitehead of Lancaster, Texas, and Rita Bailey of Duncanville, Texas; a brother, Rudolph Ogden of Quinton, Okla.; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Alfred and Scott Wright, Clifton and Joel Rush and Earle and Houston Hunt.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Harvesters/Crusaders Sunday school class and the Goddard Quilters.
Memorial contributions may be made to Goddard United Methodist Church, 1922 Dodson Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Mildred Brewton
LAVACA, AR — Mildred L. “Millie” Brewton, 62, of Lavaca, AR died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, in a local nursing home. She was born June 3, 1942, in Muldrow. She was a former Realtor for Ron Calhoun and Associates and a member of Union Baptist Church.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Roland City Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; a daughter, Julie Griffith of Greenwood; a stepson, Dana Brewton of Barling; three sisters, Lagusta Fiehl of Fort Smith, Katherine Ogren of Grants Pass, Ore., and Judy Jones of Muldrow; a brother, Leonard Russell of Van Buren; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Tony Griffith, Roy Wilson, Eugene Clearwater, Larry Brewton, Tommy Mauer and Nathan Robison.
The will be no public viewing.

Ewell Hershel Hardin
Ewell Hershel Hardin, 97, of Muldrow and a longtime resident of Fort Smith passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, in Fort Smith. He is a member of the Protestant faith, former Master Mason of Belle Point Lodge No. 20, World War II veteran and a retired barber from the Olde Town Barbershop in Fort Smith. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruby; and one son, Paul Hardin.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at Fentress Mortuary Chapel with burial at Muldrow Memory Gardens under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.
Mr. Hardin is survived by one sister, Juanita Roberts of Russellville; one brother, T.J. Hardin of Russellville; one grandchild, Dino Hardin; two stepgrandchildren, Kelly Carroll Sypert and Kim Carroll Van Buren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Dwight and Zeak Newcomb, Russell, Chad and Alex Hardin and Tim Chilcott.

Jessica Lynn Vaughan
Jessica Lynn Vaughan, 21, of Muldrow passed away Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was employed at Choctaw Gaming Center in Pocola.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. today at Roland Church of Christ with burial at Roland City Cemetery in Roland under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Hardbarger; mother and stepfather, Sandi and Carl Piersant of Howe; father, James Robert Vaughan of Muldrow; one sister, Megan Perkins of Howe; one brother, Joshua Perkins of Howe; maternal grandparents, Donnie and Jackie Woodard of Roland and Ruby and Carl Piersant of Howe; aunts and uncles, Kathy Luper and Jimmy Turner of Moffett, Kelly and Chad Bordelon of Roland, Gary Vaughan, Bridget and Glen Stephens of Louisiana, Timothy Bauer of Louisiana; stepgrandmother, Mary Magon of Louisiana.
Pallbearers will be Jamie McMillan, Scotty Nofire, Milton Perkins, David Bacon, Will Stiz, John Vincey, Carl Piersant Sr. and Richard Piersant.

Lois Gifford
Lois Margaret Gifford, 71, of Van Buren, AR, formerly of Roland, OK, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was born Aug. 30, 1933, in Muldrow. She was a homemaker, a Methodist and the widow of Donald Gifford.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Trinity United Methodist Church in Muldrow with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Agent Funeral home of Roland.
She is survived by a daughter, Tammy Cowan of Van Buren; a son, Danny Gifford of Portland, Maine; a brother, Ben Kirk of Fort Smith; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be family.

Donald Boyett
GROVE, Okla. — Donald Bates Boyett, 64, of Grove, Okla., died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, in his home. He was born Oct. 10, 1940, in Muldrow. He held a teaching degree from Oklahoma State University, taught at Southwest City, McDonald County and Grove, was a member of Elk River Baptist Church in Grove, served on the board of R.E.C. Round-up Club and the Cowskin Fire Department.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Grove with burial at Southwest City Cemetery in Southwest City, Mo., under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove, Okla.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; two daughters, Kathy Downing and Donnetta Kerr, both of Grove, Okla.; a son, Kelly Boyett of Grove, Okla.; two sisters, Linda Wight and Elizabeth Moffitt, both of Muldrow; a brother, John Boyett of Muldrow; a half brother, Bob Herron of Arcadia, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Grove.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Southwest City Building Fund; or Elk River Baptist Church Building Fund in care of funeral home.

Michael Lasiter
SPIRO — Michael David Lasiter, 52, of Spiro died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, in Fort Smith. He was a retired clerk.
No formal funeral service is scheduled. A family visitation will be at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel today from 3 to 5 p.m. Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park at a later date.
His is survived by his wife, Deborah; a daughter, Tabitha Lasiter of the home; a son, David Lasiter of the home; his father, Othel Lasiter of Mulberry; and three brothers, Wayne and Dennis Lasiter, both of Mulberry, and Bruce Lasiter of Fort Smith.

Joey Betnar
MULDROW — Joey D. Betnar, 40, of Muldrow died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, in Little Rock. He was born Aug. 2, 1964, in Clarksville. He was a parts manager for Crawford Country Ford in Van Buren and a Protestant.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Agent Funeral Home Chapel in Muldrow with burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Muldrow.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle; two sons, Dylan and Nathan Betnar, both of the home; a stepdaughter, Crissa Edwards of the home; his mother, Laquita Cowell of Hartman; a sister, Candi Hamilton of Hector; and a brother, Terry Betnar of Fort Smith.
The body may be viewed from 9 a.m. to noon today at the funeral home.

Samuel Mallin
CAMERON — Samuel Mallin, 97, of Cameron, formerly of Phoenix, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, in his home. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a partner in Mallin Brothers Foundry in Phoenix. He was a member of Bethel Temple in Phoenix and the widower of Estell Mallin.
Services pending with Sinai Mortuary of Arizona in Phoenix.
He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Gaither of Cameron; four grandchildren, Tracy Hardgrove, Jeremy Young, Ashley and Bridgette Gaither and one stepgrandson, Todd Bolton and three great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Temple, Phoenix, Ariz.

Andrew Kinsey
PANAMA — Andrew Jackson “Jack” Kinsey, 81, of Panama died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was Navy veteran of World War II and was a retired heavy equipment operator, a part time school bus driver for Panama School District and a member of Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and member of the Panama VFW. He was the widower of Coyle Kinsey.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in Panama Free Will Baptist Church with burial at Shady Point Cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
He is survived by a daughter, Diane Fain of Watts; a son, Carroll Kinsey of Panama; five grandchildren, Christi Gordon, Lundy and Dusty Taylor, Jason and Kelly Kinsey and nine great-grandchildren; two special friends, Leola Butler of Spiro and Opal Tanksley of Bokoshe.
Pallbearers will be Rick Fowler, Lundy and Dusty Taylor, Jason and Kelly Kinsey and Hal Gordon.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.
