Peggy Ann Davidson

Funeral services for Peggy Ann (Upton) Davidson of McAlester, who died Saturday, April 29, 2000, at her home, were today at 2 at Chaney's Chapel with the Rev. Kay Shock officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Chaney's Funeral Home of McAlester. She was 59.

She was a homemaker and had lived in McAlester since 1972.

Survivors include her sons, Gregg and Tammy Davidson, Paris, Texas, Michael Waldo of Hollis and Shawn Davidson of McAlester; two daughters, Dennyce and Rick Wallace, Lubbock, Texas and Sondra and Bill Cuzalina of Edmond; her mother, Dorothy Ford of McAlester.

Also, four brothers, Bill (Sonny) and Barbara Upton, Texarkana, Texas, Don Upton, Clarksville, Ark., Gary Upton of Warner and Jimmy and Christine Ford, Knoxville, Ark. And her five grandchildren, Tanner Davidson, Brittani Davidson, Courtney Cuzalina and Tosha Coale and Michelle Coale.

Jack Billy Turner

Jack Billy Turner, 47, of McAlester, died Friday, April 28, 2000, in McAlester.

Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bishop Chapel of Memories. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born Jan. 15, 1953, in Carlsbad, N.M., he was the son of Leon Francis and Wanda Doris Greene Turner. He graduated from Carlsbad Senior High School in the Class of 1971. While in school, he was a member of the Demolay's and became an Eagle Scout at the age of 13, which at that time was the youngest in Scouting history.

He married Sharon Wiles of McAlester on Dec. 25, 1976, in Carlsbad, N.M. and they lived in Roswell, N.M. for 11 years, moving to McAlester in 1986, where he worked at M.E.E.C.O. for 12 years.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Turner of the home; two sons, Harley Davidson Turner and James Leon Turner, all of the home; his parents, Leon and Doris Turner, Carlsbad, N.M. and a sister and brother-in-law, Jolene and Jim Salsman of Panama.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Bertha Green and a brother, Noel Francis Turner.

Gloria Jean Carter

Gloria Jean Carter, 54, of Talihina, died Thursday, May 4, 2000, in McAlester.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at New Talihina City Cemetery with the Rev. Otis Farris officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home - Talihina Chapel.

Born Nov. 1, 1945, in Duncan, she was the daughter of Bernard and Lena Ferguson Holmes. She married Edward Carter on Feb. 9, 1971, in Talihina and had worked as a cook. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Carter, of the home; two daughters, Tammy Carter, of the home and Sheila Murphy, Mena, Ark.; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild and an aunt, Lillian Ivy, Farmington, N.M.

Pallbearers will be Todd Baughman, John Wagner, Jon Bryant, David Curley, Michael McIntosh and Larry Kennedy.

She was preceded in death by her parents and Doris Burnett.

Cecile I. March

Cecile I. March, 94, of McAlester, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at a local nursing home.

Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 tonight at Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Wilburton City Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Wolf officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.

Born July 28, 1905, in Maquon, Ill., she was the daughter of Oscar and Mary Passmore Caselman. She grew up and went to school in Lyra, Texas and in 1922 her family moved to Oklahoma. She married George March in 1923 and was a homemaker.

She was of the Pentecostal faith and a former member of the Rebekah Lodge No. 54 of Hartshorne.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, George and Opal March, Fairborn, Ohio, Billy Jack and Clarice March of El Reno and Bob and Lottie March, Lexington Park, Md.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rita Ann and Charley Shank of Enterprise and Margaret and Walter Newson of Wilburton.

Also, 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Sam Caselman, Holtom City, Texas and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five sisters and a brother.

Robert C. Jewell

Robert C. Jewell, 74, of Duncan died Friday, May 19, 2000, in Oklahoma City.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the St. Pauls United Methodist Church with Randy Mitchell officiating.

Mr. Jewell was born April 3, 1926, in Tulsa to Alma and A.B. Jewell of Tulsa. He married La Junta Chastain on July 18, 1945, in Tulsa.

He was a 1943 graduate of Will Rogers and following his graduation in 1950 from OSU, he moved to Duncan where he resided for 50 years.

He served in the Navy and Army Reserves during World War II.

Mr. Jewell worked for Halliburton for 33 years.

Survivors include his wife, La Junta, of the home; his daughters, Sandra, Amanda and Barbara; a brother, James G. Jewell of Berwyn, Pa.; a niece; two nephews; and five grandsons and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jerry Lee Piercy

DAVIS - Service for Jerry Lee Piercy, 59, of Davis, who died Sunday, May 21, 2000, in Ardmore, was to be at 2 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church in Davis with the Rev. Willard McCartney Jr. officiating. Burial, under the direction of Fox Funeral Home in Davis, will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.

Ora Sullivan

Ora Sullivan, 90, of Comanche died Monday, May 22, 2000, at Duncan Regional Hospital.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Dixie Cemetery with Dow Pannell officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sullivan was born Feb. 3, 1910, in Pine Lake, Okla., to John H. and Edith (Harrison) Gallop. She was affiliated with the Comanche Church of Christ.

She married Jim Sullivan in 1950. He preceded her in death in 1970. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Oral "Bud" H. Gallop; a sister, Loma Harville; a granddaughter, Mary Lynn Ward; a nephew, Melvin L. Gallop; and a dear friend, Bessie Silvey.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Price and Pat Ward of Comanche; a granddaughter, Teresa and her husband, Jerry Jones of Comanche; three great-grandchildren and their spouses, Dana and Tom Kostel of Huron, S.D., Darren and Melissa Jones of Cache, and Denise and Ian Cain of Comanche; and great-grandchidlren, Megan and Clay Kostel of Huron, Briley Jones of Cache and Allison Cain of Comanche.

Vera M. Scott

MARLOW - Vera M. Scott, 84, of Marlow died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at Duncan Regional Hospital.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Roselawn Cemetery in Okeene under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.

William Wayne Raasch

William Wayne Raasch, 36, of Norman, died Sunday, May 21, 2000, in Norman. Private family services will be held in Colorado. Havenbrook Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

He was born Oct. 7, 1963, in Denver, the son of Alvin Fred and Elizabeth Catherine Leonard Raasch. He graduated from high school in 1982 in Yuma, Colo. He came to Norman in 1984 from Yuma. He was the assistant kitchen manager at The Mont restaurant.

He was preceded in the death by his father, Alvin Fred Raasch.

He is survived by his mother Elizabeth Catherine Smith and her husband Jerry, of Yuma, Colo.; a son, Cecil Wayne Raasch of the home in Norman; two sisters, Catherine Raasch of Evergreen, Colo., and Dani Jo Bernard and her husband Kenny, of Kanopolis, Kan.

Doyal Lee Trammell

Doyal Lee Trammell, 80, of McAlester, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at McAlester Regional Health Center.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Chaney's Chapel with the Rev. Rick Stout from the Northgate Baptist Church. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Chaney's Funeral Home of McAlester.

Born Feb. 12, 1920, in Ward Springs, he was the son of Andy Washington Trammell and Gussie Hogue Trammell. He lived in McAlester and Pittsburg County all his life and graduated from Kiowa High School in 1940.

He began his carpentry career shortly after graduation. In 1957 he started his home building company and also had worked part time for Chaney's Funeral Home for several years. After he retired, he enjoyed working on John Deere mowers and reselling them.

Survivors include his nephew and several nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gale E. Trammell.

Ruth Beatrice Jones

Graveside service for Ruth Beatrice Jones, 82, who died Thursday, May 18, 2000, in Duncan Regional Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Duncan with Sam Broughton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.

Grace Valley Smith

Service for Grace V. Smith who passed away Thursday, May 18, 2000, in Wilkins Nursing Home will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Carter-Smart Funeral Home Chapel with Randy Southerland officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Smith was born Jan. 28, 1906, in Byars to William Ben and Hattie Richards. The married Lin Smith on Aug. 4, 1934, in Oklahoma City. He preceded her in death in 1982.

She was a homemaker and longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Biffle and Linda "Cookie" McCullough of Duncan; a son, Richard F. Smith of Duncan; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Chisholm Trail Hospice.
