James (Jimmie) A. Mitchell

James (Jimmie) A. Mitchell went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 16, 2007. He passed away at his son’s home in Edmond, Oklahoma with family members present by his side.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2006 at the First Assembly of God with Dr. Richard Ventonis officiating. Burial will follow services at the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

James was born into the family of James H. and Mamie (Braker) Mitchell on May 7, 1927. James grew up in Eldorado, Oklahoma where he attended school. He married Dorotha Marie Taylor on February 20, 1946 in Vernon, Texas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Tokyo, Japan. They started their family in Amarillo, Texas. In 1955, James and moved his family to Altus, Oklahoma. As a long time member of the First Assembly of God church, he serves as a deacon and head usher. He also served as Commander for the church’s Royal Rangers. He retired from 20 years of civil service at Altus Air Force Base.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Cecil James Mitchell. He is survived by his wife, Marie, and children Mary Mitchell and wife Miriam of Edmond, Oklahoma, Terry Mitchell and wife Darla of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Kathy Pierce of Altus, Oklahoma. He leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Michael Mitchell and wife, Samantha, Bryan Mitchell and wife, Danae, Scott Mitchell, Melissa Minter and husband Terry, and Christy Stewart and husband Richard; and 5 great-grandchildren, Savannah, Emili, Andrew, James and Shelby.

The Mitchell Family will greet friends Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Kincannon Funeral Home.

Madge Lee Mobbs

Madge Lee Mobbs, 89, went home to be with our precious Lord on Monday, February 14, 2005 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, February 17, 2005 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 P.M. at the Llano Cemetery in Amarillo, TX. Services are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Madge was born November 23, 1915 in Amarillo, TX to John and Madge (Brice) Parker. She married Thurman Lee Mobbs on December 1, 1939. To this union, two sons were born. She worked for Nolan Fried Pies, the Pinkney Meat Packing Plant and Levi Strauss Distribution Center in Amarillo. She also worked for Tulia Public Schools and as manager of Filmport of Altus, owned by her sons. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Altus. She began watching First Baptist Church TV after she could not attend church any longer. She loved the way Brother Jeff brings the children forward for the mystery box. She enjoyed fishing, shopping and being with her family. She loved her family and never hesitated to tell them so.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Mobbs; sisters, Joye Thomas, Roberta Witt, Flora Sanders, and Bessie Sanders; brothers, Johnny Parker and Marion Parker.

She is survived by her sons, Don Mobbs and wife Betty Ann of Oklahoma City and Eddy Mobbs and wife La Nell of Altus; grandchildren, Tina Myers and husband Darie Myers of Altus, Dena Lay of Altus, Carey Edmondson of Denton, Tx; Kyle Edmondson of Cedar Park, Tx; Corey Edmondson of Midland, Tx; Tara Gilbert and husband Brad of Altus, Krista Mobbs of Altus, Jonathon Mobbs of Altus and Kelsey Ann Mobbs of N. Richland Hills, TX; great grandchildren, Kendra and Kylie Myers of Altus; Jackson Gilbert of Altus; Julia, A.J.; Sam and Cassie Edmondson of Denton, Texas; Colton, Grant and Luke Edmondson, Midland, Texas; Nicholas, Joshua and Zackary Edmondson, Cedar Park, Texas and many friends and relatives. Lane Dustin Monday

Lane Dustin Monday, 6, of Altus, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2008 at his home. Funeral services are scheduled for 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at the Altus City Auditorium with Matt Springfield officiating. A private family burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Lane was born February 1, 2002 to Dustin Monday and Gena Shatswell at Lawton, OK. He attended kindergarten at Sunset School. He was a member of the Tamarack Road Church of Christ. He loved outdoor stuff, playing cowboys, pirates, football and Spiderman.

The Monday Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday evening, April 14th, at Kincannon Funeral Home.

Dale E. "Papa" Montgomery

Dale E. "Papa" Montgomery, 68, Altus, died Wednesday January 5, 2005 at his home. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 8, 2005 at the Victory Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Dale was born February 16, 1936 in Mangum, Ok. to Ed and Ada Marie (Leonard) Montgomery. He married Marietta Williams on August 4, 1957 west of Altus at the homestead of Tom and Ada Willis. He worked in road construction for many years. On December 16, 1980, Dale and Marietta opened Altus Petal Pushers. They owned and operated the flower shop for twenty one years. He was an avid reader and frequented coffee shops. He took pride in his home and his business. He loved spending time with his family and his animals. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother Nathan Brent and a sister Patricia Mooneyham. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marietta of the home in Altus; his daughter and son-in-law, Mona and Randy McDow of Altus; one son Monty Montgomery of Pampa, Tx; one nephew Phil Mooneyham who was thought of as a son; two grandsons, Timothy McDow and his wife Patricia; Dale Glen Montgomery; one granddaughter, Brenna McDow; three brothers, Carroll Montgomery of Wichita Falls, Tx; Gary Montgomery of Altus and Neil Montgomery of Duke, Ok; two sisters, Phyllis Graumann of Big Spring, Tx. and Sherry Blackwell of Carson City, Nevada; two great grandsons, Austin and Waylin McDow; many nieces, nephews and friends; and two little puppies, Muff and Annie, which he loved dearly. Marla Morgan

Marla Morgan, 51, born October 28, 1956 in Odessa, TX, passed away February 1, 2008 in Farmers Branch, TX due to complications from pneumonia. She is survived by her daughter, Taylor D’Ann Morgan; brother, Steven Howard Hoeckendorf; niece, Melissa Maria Hoeckendorf; and step -father Clayton M. Nall. She is preceded in death by her husband, Danny Ray Morgan; father, Marvin Howard Hoeckendorf; mother Verna Joan Nall; and grandmother, Bonnie Osborne.

Marla graduated from Altus High School in 1974, where she was an athlete, cheerleader, and active student. She then attended college in Midwest City, OK and focused her career in the computer software and accounting fields. Marla was a caring and devoted mother, friend, and extremely personable to all whom she met. Many remember her creative, humorous, and independent personality.

Although faced with many obstacles in her short life she managed to stay headstrong and optimistic no matter what. An excellent cook and welcoming hostess, she was known for bringing laughter and good food to any occasion. Known as a mother and care giver to all that needed help, Marla was never afraid to make sure you were happy. Marla was always surrounded by love and shall be missed by countless family members and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Kincannon Funeral Home, in Altus, with Bill Osborne officiating. Inurnment will follow services at the Restlawn cemetery. Myrtle Lene Morgan

Myrtle Lene Morgan, 97, Altus, died Thursday, January 12, 2006 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Riverside Cemetery in Mangum, OK with Pastor Danny Atchley officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Myrtle was born July 9, 1908 in Greer County, Oklahoma to Rabe and Flora (Teague) Morgan. She graduated from Mangum High School. She began working in the accounting department for the United States Civil Service at Camp Hood, TX during W.W. II. She retired from Civil Service at Altus Air Force Base in 1965. She was an artist and especially enjoyed painting china. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Business and Professional Women Organization. She was a member of the Central Christian Church in Mangum, OK for many years. She was preceded in death by parents; her sister Elizabeth Morgan and her brother, Charles Morgan. Her brother, J. B. Hartsell Ray Morris

Hartsell Ray Morris, 76, of Altus died Thursday, January 17, 2008 at home. Funeral services will be at Kincannon Memorial Chapel 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2008 with Bill Osborne and Matt Springfield officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Hartsell R. Morris was born September 13, 1931 to A.V. and Carrie Ann (Hester) Morris in Jackson County near Olustee, Oklahoma. He was raised and lived all of his life in the Southwest Oklahoma area. He married Learldeen (Dee) Trammell September 15, 1956 in the home of Mr. and Mrs. O.B. McGee southeast of Hollis, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was self-employed as owner of Morris Service Center on West Broadway for 25 years and retired in 1986.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, and two sisters. Hartsell is survived by his wife, Dee, of the home; one daughter Lynna Wilmes and husband Scott; two granddaughters, Kinsey and Darbie Wilmes all of Altus; three sisters, Hoylene White of Oklahoma City, OK, Henrietta Houck of Oklahoma City, OK, and Hildred Jana of Fern Park, FL.

The family will host a visitation for family and friends from 3:30 to 5:0 0 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Kincannon Funeral Home. Online tributes may be made to www.kincannonfuneralhome.com.

Joseph Franklin Morris

Joseph Franklin Morris, 72, Olustee, passed away Friday, April 11, 2008 at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman. Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 15th at Kincannon Funeral Chapel with Bro. Doug Altom officiating under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Joe was born April 2, 1936 to John and Frankie Francis (Wright) Morris in Bakersfield, California. He married Alene Gibson in 1955 at Vernon, TX. Later, he married Pat Fawley in CA. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1964. He drove a truck for many years, hauling hay in Southwest Oklahoma. He was also a mechanic and a heavy equipment operator. Joe was of the Christian faith. He was a member of the B.I.A. and the VFW. He enjoyed fishing, working with his hands, reading, animals, and playing pool. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his family and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jack Morris and J.L. Morris, and one step-daughter, Tanya Pence.

He is survived by four daughters, Dorinda Vantz, and husband, Bill, of Howenwald, TN; Cynthia Morris of Howenwald, TN; Cassandra Tutten and husband, Tim of Cordell, OK; and Francie Medford, and husband, Mark of Blair; two sons, Jim Morris of TN, and Jack Morris of TN, two step-daughters, Nickie Jenkins of Albquerque, NM, Kelley Hamm and husband, Richie, of Whiteoak, TX, two step-sons, Brett Moore and wife, Lisa, of Durant, OK, and Scott Moore and wife, Ritha, of Atoka, OK; a sister-in-law, Faye Morris of Apache, OK; a neice, Winona Morris of Apache, OK; a nephew, Jeffery Morris, and wife, Jill, of Apache, OK; a special friend, Cherie Morris of Mangum, OK; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Billy John Motheral

Billy John Motheral, 78, of Altus, died early Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at English Village Nursing Home. He was born December 8, 1928 in Wilson, Texas to Ralph and Agnes (Vernon) Motheral. He attended all twelve years of school in Abernathy, Texas, graduating in 1946. He worked as a welder until he entered in the army in November of 1950. He served for two years in Colorado and Alaska.

In 1955 he moved to the Motheral farm between Olustee and Elmer, Oklahoma to help his father with the farming. He was also a Civil Engineer Service Worker at the Altus Air Force Base from 1955 to 1987. He was the foreman and supervisor for the sheet metal and welding shop for many years. He later was a planner and cost estimate expert.

He married Glenda Goode of Mangum, OK in 1960 and had two children. They enjoyed 46 years of marriage. After retirement in 1987, he did carpentry work and remodeled several houses. He was the manager of the Elks Club for several years. He also served as Exalted Ruler of the Elks Club for several years and held many other offices.

He enjoyed playing golf, watching football, golf, and high school wrestling. He also enjoyed restoring old cars and doing woodworking. He was a “Jack of all trades” and could fix almost anything. He loved helping people. He especially enjoyed playing with and being with his only grandchild, Alex Motheral.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Agnes Motheral; sister and brother-in-law, Imogene and Berney Shires; sister and brother-in-law, Wynelle and Leslie Pope; and brothers-in-law, Harold Kelly and Houston Adams. He is survived by his wife, Glenda; son, Scott Motheral of Altus; daughter, Debra Ware of Grand Prairie, Texas; and granddaughter, Alex Motheral, of Olustee; sister, Wilma and C.J. Pope of Abernathy, Texas; two brothers and their wives, R.K. and P.J. Motheral of Palestine, Texas and Don and Billie Fern Motheral of Kress, Texas, and a brother, Lawrence Motheral of Palestine, Texas. On his wife’s side of the family he is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Wanda Goode of Borger, Texas, Dodie Adams of Tulsa, OK, Mary and John White of Temple, Texas, Billie Faye Kelly of Mesa, Arizona, Ned and Betty Goode of Mangum, OK., and Pat and Jack Halford also of Mangum, OK. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Graveside services for Bill Motheral will be Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 2PM at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. The family will greet friends and family Friday, January 26, from 5-7 PM at Kincannon Funeral Home.

Don Allen Mullikin

Don Allen Mullikin, 53, Altus, OK, died Saturday April 9, 2005 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Memorial Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday April 16, 2005 at the Second Baptist Church, Tutt Chapel, 309 E. Franklin, Liberty, MO, 64068 with Rev. Chris Combs officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Don Allen Mullikin was born October 14, 1951 in Kansas City, MO to Cecil E. and Mildred H. (Allen) Mullikin. He graduated from Liberty High School in 1969. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in January of 1971. He served for seven years as a Fireman and an EMT and then worked in flight simulation for ten years before joining Hughes Aircraft in 1989. During his seventeen year career, he achieved the rank of TECH SGT with numerous other Service and professional awards. He was a gun enthusiast and an avid photographer. He traveled all over the United States in the course of both Military and Civilian assignments. During his sixteen year civilian career in Flight Simulation, he achieved a high level of expertise and was sought after for his high level of problem solving ability.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Mullikin. He is survived by his mother, Mildred H. Mullikin of Lee's Summit, MO; his brother and sister-in-law Kirk and Terri Mullikin of Lee's Summit, MO and his beloved "Little Dog"; his niece and her husband, Sandi and Kris Stewart of Topeka, KS and numerous loving relatives and dear friends who cared for and supported him so faithfully.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the American Brain Tumor Association @ 2720 River Road, Suite 146, Des Plaines, IL, 60018-4110.

Martha L. Murphy

Martha L. Murphy, 62, Altus, died Monday, May 23, 2005 at Plantation Village Care Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 27, 2005 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Pastor Charlene Walker and Apostle Victor West officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Martha was born in Elmore City, Oklahoma on August 8, 1942 to Raymond Prince and Mae Bell Franklin Hall. She lived in Tatums, Oklahoma and Ponca City, Oklahoma. She moved to Altus when she was in the 8th grade. She met and married Walter Booker while living in Altus. To this union eight children were born. Her life was devoted to cooking, singing, working word puzzles, and traveling. But most of all she loved reading her Bible and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the New Beginning Full Gospel Church. She married John Murphy in September 1995 in Altus.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter Booker; three sisters, Rosie M. Prince, Florene Burris, and Mae Goodlett; one brother, Earl Prince, and two children Kim Booker and James Booker.

She is survived by her husband, John Murphy of Hollis, Ok; four daughters, Angela Flemons and husband Ricky, Columbia, Maryland, Jacquelyn Curry and husband Ralph, Altus, OK, Janette Crowley and husband Carlett, Lubbock, TX, and Breggitta Evans, Abilene, TX; two sons, Walter Booker and wife Sheila of Bowie, Maryland, and Octavia Booker and wife Vilma, Catonsville, Maryland; nine sisters, Virgie Wade and husband James, Wichita, KS, Helen Roland, Ponca City, OK, Ella Franklin, Long Beach, CA, Evelyn Crayton, Wichita, KS, and Earlene Pruitt, also of Wichita, KS, Deloris Clasper of Harvey, IL, Sharon Grant of Hazlecrest, IL, Gail Hays Prince Robinson of Oklahoma City, OK and Kathleen Prince of Altus, OK; three brothers, Percy Prince and wife Ira, Mesa Grande, AZ, Ronnie Prince and wife Savannah, Markham, IL, and Raymond Prince, Altus, OK; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Rev. James Loyd Mahan

Rev. James Loyd Mahan, 80, Altus, went on to Glory on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at home with his family by his side. Graveside committal of his cremated remains will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2009 at the Altus City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. James Loyd Mahan was born November 6, 1929 in Quinlan, Oklahoma to James E. and Elizabeth M. (Robertson) Mahan. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1948. He attained a Bachelor of Science Degree from Oklahoma State University and a Master of Science Degree from Texas A&M University. He also attended The Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas. He married Shirley May Rakun February 17, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas and stated, "she was the best thing that ever happened to me." He served in the United States Army Reserves. He was an Anglican priest for many years, serving his first four years in Comfort, Texas and Fredricksburg, Texas. The Mahans moved to Altus in 1964 where Rev. Mahan served St. Paul’s Episcopal Church until 1982 and then nine years in Guymon, Oklahoma, before retiring in Altus in 1991. Rev. Mahan was a member of the Rotary Club, AARP and Associated Christian Ministries Inc.. He and his brother Maurice conceived and brought to fruition many programs and ministries functioning in Altus today. More recently, he was instrumental in the organization, fundraising and oversight of the construction of the Altus Centennial Memorial Chapel in the Altus City Cemetery, dedicated in November of 2007. He dedicated his life to his church, family and many friends, as “people” were his main interest. Rev. Mahan was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Timothy Mahan; a brother Maurice Mahan, and a sister Helen Freeman. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley; two daughters, Elizabeth Mahan Wallace and Brenda Mahan, both of Altus; two sons, James R. and Carla Bayless Mahan, and Thomas C. and Andrea Riojas Mahan, both of Lubbock Texas; a sister Lola Fritzler, a brother John F. Mahan and his wife Dorothy, both of Wichita, Kansas, a sister-in-law, Leatha Marie Mahan of Oklahoma City; 12 grandchildren, Katherine Spinhirne, Patrick Wallace, Martha Mahan, Andrea Wallace, James T. Wallace, Julian Lowell, Thomas R. Mahan, James S. Mahan, Grace Mahan, Jane Mahan, Elizabeth Jacome, and Melissa Smith; one great-grandchild Hadley Wallace.
