Florence Rozelle Rochelle

Florence Rozelle Rochelle, 94, of Altus, died early Thursday morning at Plantation Village. Her services are pending with Bonita Springs Funeral Home of Bonita Springs, FL. Kincannon Funeral Home of Altus is handling all local arrangements.

Rozelle Rochelle was born January 16, 1913 in Weakley County, TN to Clarence and Emma (Simmons) Jenkins. She married Hilliard T. Rochelle in Bradford, TN on January 21, 1935 and obeyed her Lord in baptism in 1939. The couple moved to Pontiac, MI in 1950 and was very active in the church there. She became a lifetime member of the Ladies Association of Michigan Christian Colleges of Rochester, MI. The couple was longtime members of the Church of Christ while in Michigan. After her husband’s death in 1990, she moved to Bonita Springs, FL where she lived for most of the remainder of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence, three sisters: Cora Swindel, of TN; Eddie Mae Golden, of Pontiac, MI; and Pauline Jenkins of Greenfield, TN; two brothers: Odell Jenkins of Greenfield, TN and Fred Jenkins of Louisville, KY, one daughter-in-law, Delphene Rochelle, and one grandson, Ricky Rochelle.

She is survived by two sons: Jerry Rochelle and wife Ann of Altus, OK, and Larry Rochelle and wife Marla of Hillsville, VA, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, many friends in Altus, Tennessee, and Michigan.

Maria E. Rodriguez

Maria E. “Queta” Rodriguez, 77, Altus, died Thursday, February 16, 2006. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2006 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with close family friend Pastor Joe Tovar officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

She was born on July 15, 1928 in Kingsville, Texas to Juan and Catalina (Robles) Cervantes. She attended school in Kingsville, Texas. She married Fabian Rodriguez, Sr. on September 1, 1947 in Edinburg, Texas. She was a member of the Sinai Assemblea de Dios. She liked dancing, Mexican Soap Operas, tinkering around the house and spending time with family and friends.

Her parents; her husband Fabian Rodriguez, Sr.; two sons Amado Riojas and Tomas Rodriguez and her brother Benito Cervantes preceded her in death. She is survived by five daughters, Kathleen Rodriguez of San Antonio, Texas; Irene Casias of Altus; Maria E. Garcia and husband Elias of Pflugerville, Texas; Lorenza Garcia and husband Candy of Altus; Janie Izquierdo of Fort Worth, Texas; two sons, Fabian Rodriguez, Jr. and wife Karen of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; Pedro Rodriguez of Altus; twenty one grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren and many friends.

The family will be hosting friends as well Sunday evening, February 19, at 6pm at the Iglesia primero Bautista in Altus. Additional parking for the Rodriguez service is available behind Kincannon Funeral Home.

Corbin Gavin Rollins

Corbin Gavin Rollins, infant son of Neal and Jacquelynn Rollins of Altus, died Monday, October 17, 2005 in Oklahoma City, OK. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at the Altus City Cemetery with Rev. Brett Thomasson officiating. Services are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Corbin was born on October 5, 2005 at Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City to Neal and Jacquelynn (Hall) Rollins. He died Monday, October 17, 2005. He was preceded in death by his great grandfathers Bill Jolley and Robert Donald Goode.

He is survived by his parents Neal and Jacquelynn of Altus; grandparents, Barbara and Lyman Hall of Altus; Kim and Gary Rollins of Altus; Xona Jolley of Altus; Leon and Louise Dollins of Altus; Peggy Goode of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two aunts, Elizabeth Schrimage and husband Donnie of Altus; Charlotte Hall of Altus; two uncles Carl and Timmothy Hall both of Altus; Godfather Nick Blaise of Altus and numerous great aunts, uncles and cousins.

Rafael Roman

Rafael Roman, 83, Altus, OK, died Thursday, May 31, 2007 at his home in Altus. Funeral service will be 11:00 Monday, June 4, 2007 at Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Colonel Donald Simpson officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sill Cemetery in Lawton, OK under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Rafael Roman was born July 28, 1923 to Ramon and Ricarda (Negron) Roman in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. He attended High School at Bayamon, Puerto Rico. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor at Hawaii, he volunteered for the U.S. Army. He was assigned to serve in the defense of the Panama Canal and later to the Asiatic Pacific Area. Upon the surrender and occupation of Japan, he returned to Puerto Rico and attended the Benedict Business College at San Juan, Puerto Rico where he received an Associates Degree in Business. In 1947, he reenlisted in the United States Army. While serving in the Panama Canal, he met and married Berta A. Barichovich Fernandez on March 8, 1952. During his years in the Army, Rafael received nineteen service medals, decorations, and badges. These included the Purple Heart Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Service Medal, Pacific Asiatic Service Medal, WWII Service Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Occupation Service Medal (Japan), National Defense Service Medal, Korean Campaign Service Medal with Battle Stars, Armed Forces Expeditionary Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean War Service Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, Armed Forces Service Medal with 3 Oak leaf clusters, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, and the Army Air Crew Badge. After twenty-one years of military services, he retired June 1, 1965 at Fort Hamilton, New York. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Lawton, OK, VFW Post 1193 of Lawton, OK, American Legion Post 29 of Lawton, OK, and the 1st Calvary Division of Copperas Cove, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Berta, three sons, Freddy Roman, Miguel Roman, Juan Roman; two daughters, Rachel Roman and Judith Roman.

He is survived by four daughters, Dahlys R. Hamilton of Atlanta, GA, Dolores R. Balliet of Warner Robbins, GA, Dilka R. Roman of Miami, FL, Darlene R. Roman, Columbus, OH; five sons, Irving A. Roman of Bronx, NY, Detzer R. Roman of Weatherford, TX, Danny R. Roman of Lawton, OK, Dezi R. Roman of Lawton, OK, and Dehny R. Roman of Altus, OK; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great grandchildren.

Ruth Marie Ross

Ruth Marie Ross, 73, Altus, passed away Saturday February 4, 2006 at her home. Memorial Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Tuesday February 7, 2006 at the Kincannon Funeral Home with Dr. Roy McDaniel officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Ruth Marie Bacon was born September 16, 1932 in Grandfield, OK to Sterling P. and Opal (Roan) Bacon. She was raised in Grandfield and attended school there. She married Claude Ross on November 12, 1948 in Los Angeles, CA. To this union, four children were born. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a dedicated homemaker staying busy with activities for her children and grandchildren. She was active in PTA, VFW Women's Auxiliary, and coached girls softball many years as well and enjoyed bowling. She loved koi fish and feeding birds and even built many birdhouses. She enjoyed taking care of her rose bushes and recently began making jewelry. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Altus, OK. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Scott Ross; two sisters, Genevieve Nease and Donna Bacon and two brothers, Dick and Jr. Bacon. She is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Claude of the home; her daughter, Lori Jean Sherman and husband Randy of Altus, OK; her sons, Steve Ross and wife Sherri of Altus, OK and Billy Ross and wife Terri of Chula Vista, CA; two sisters Laquita Sinclair of Bullhead City, AZ and Imogene McNally of Hemet, CA; twenty grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Rosalie Rowden

Rosalie Rowden age 76, of Duke, Oklahoma, died Sunday, April 3, 2005 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, in Altus, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 7, 2005 at the Duke Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Jaye officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Cemetery in Duke under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Rosalie Rowden was born May 28, 1928 to J. B. and Jewel (Richardson) Worley in Kelton, Texas. She attended Erick Schools. She married Henry C . Fikes on October 2, 1943 in Erick, Oklahoma and from this union four children were born. She was a member of the Duke First Baptist Church and was an interior decorator. She was also a restaurant owner and a Director of the Senior Meal Site in Duke. She later married Thomas Lee Rowden on September 10, 1970 in Oklahoma City. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, J. B. and Jewel Worley; two brothers, J. C. Worley and Denton Worley; two husbands, Henry C. Fikes and Thomas Rowden; one daughter, Linda Fern Reynolds, one son, Ewell Gean Fikes; a sister Glenda Taylor and three great-grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Rick Carter of Duke, Oklahoma; one son and daughter-in-law, Cleve J. and Charlotte Fikes of Hampton, Virginia; one sister Marie Dodson of Elk City, Oklahoma; many grandchildren and great grandchildren and loving neighbors and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Joseph Runividge

Joseph Louis Runividge, also known as “Wronowicz,” of Altus, Oklahoma , passed away Saturday, January 13, 2007 at the Kindred Hospital in Oklahoma City. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2007 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Altus. A vigil will be held Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m., also at the Prince of Peace Church. Burial will follow the services at the Hobart Rose Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home of Altus.

He was born April 15, 1919 in Waterbury, CT, to Antonina (Kosmoski) and Julian Wronowicz, also known as Runividge, who were both born in Poland. He graduated from Wilby High School, Waterbury, CT on June 21, 1937 and was well known as an outstanding athlete during his high school years. He was offered many college scholarships, which he had to turn down to help support his widowed mother and joined the semi – professional ranks of basketball and football. He was also hired by Scovill Manufacturing Company of Waterbury in 1939 and became supervisor of incoming and outgoing raw materials until May 23, 1944 when he enlisted in the US Navy to serve his country. He received his boot camp training at Simpson, NY and then reassigned to Camp Elliot, San Diego, CA and later to the Federal Building (COMWESSEAFRON) in San Francisco, CA. He was Honorably Discharged from the US Navy at Shumaker, AC on August 14, 1946 and was immediately accepted in the US Naval Reserves on the same day.

He married Lily Deen (Haley) Nash on April 21, 1946 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in San Francisco by Father James A. McGee. They moved to Waterbury for a short time and decided to move to Roosevelt, Oklahoma in April 1947 to go into partnership with his father-in-law (Dan Haley) to raise cattle and the farming business. Ha was hired in Civil Service at Ft. Sill in May 1955 to July 1955. He then tested for a job at AAFB which was much closer to his ranch. He was hired at AAFB in July 1955 and progressed rapidly to the position at the Air Force Stock Fund Management Specialist in September 1979 and held this position until his retirement on August 14, 1987. His total net service in the US Navy and US Naval Reserves accumulated to 14 years, 1 month, and 26 days. He was given an Honorable Discharge from the US Navel reserves on July 18, 1958 as requested by him in order to help the Southwest Oklahoma Survival Association (SOS) organization formed by citizens living in the proposed expansion area fighting the unnecessary land grab of Southwestern Oklahoma in the late 1950’s.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and their wives. He is survived by his wife, Lily Deen of the home; a daughter, Sheryl and her husband, John Ellis, Dallas, Texas; two grand daughters Meredith Ann Ellis and Emily Elizabeth Ellis, both of Los Angeles, CA; a sister, Mary (Kosmoski) Iorio, Waterbury, CT; three nieces, Jane (Iorio) True and husband John, of Plantsville, CT; Anna may Iorio and Rita (Kosmoski) Caron and husband Marcel, of Waterbury, CT; two nephews, Robert Iorio and Ronnie Kosmoski, Waterbury, CT; and a brother-in –law, Jack Haley, Roosevelt, OK; very close and dear friends, Sol and Rose Bernstein, Hollywood Beach, FL; several nieces and nephews.

Lloyd George Russell

Lloyd George Russell, 93, Altus, died Thursday, January 17, 2008, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2008 at Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Bro. Boyd Whitehead officiating. Burial will follow at Martha Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Lloyd G. Russell was born July 18, 1914 to George and Mae (Campbell) Russell in Peacock, Texas. He attended schools and graduated from Blackwell, Texas High School. He married Hazel L. Allen August 25, 1943 in Lovington, New Mexico. He was a farmer and worked for Roger Moreau for about forty years. He loved fishing, hunting, and camping.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mae Russell; two sisters, Opal Harrist and Iva Rotan. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Hazel, of the home; one daughter Brenda Shirley of Blair, OK; three sons, Odie Russell and wife Shirley of Hobbs, NM, Jackie Russell of Altus, OK, Donnie Russell and special friend Susie Kubieck of Vernon, TX; one sister, Doris Blair of Lander, TX; five grandchildren; Cathy Brooks and husband, Ray of Arizona; Rickey Russell and wife, Connie of San Angelo, TX; Sandra Fox and husband, Chad of Lubbock, TX; Sharon Smith; and Jackie Russell, Jr.; seven great-grandchildren, Justin Brooks of Blair; SPC Jennica Froelich of Arizona; Amanda Allison of Hobbs, NM; Robert Russell of Duncan, OK; Billy Fox of Hobbs, NM; Gary Fox of Alabama; and Nathan Fox of Lubbock, TX; and five great-great-grandchildren, Jaycent Wade Froelich, Sadie Rose Brooks, Mackinze Allison, Daniel Allison, and Amber Rose Fox.

The family will have a visitation for family and friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon, January 20, 2008 at Kincannon Funeral Home.

Beatrice Zinn

Beatrice Zinn, 87, of Altus, OK. died Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at Livingston Memorial Hospital in Livingston, TX. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am Friday, July 21st, 2006 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel, with Rod Smith and son-in-law Ted Savage officiating, assisted by J.V. Oden. Burial will follow the services, at Restlawn Cemetery in Altus, under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Beatrice (Bea) Zinn was born December 1st, 1918 in Humphreys, OK. to Arthur T. Brown and Burdette (Barnes) Brown of Texas. After the death of her mother she was adopted and raised by Worthy and Myrtie Summers. She attended the Humphries School and completed the 11th grade. On June 23rd, 1934 she married Raymond H. Zinn in Altus, OK. and to this union three children were born.

She was employed as a retail merchant and together Mr. and Mrs. Zinn owned and operated “Zinn Electric” in Altus for 30 years. She also taught Sunday School at the First Baptist Church for many years and worked for the election board as a precinct worker. She enjoyed many years of water exercise with her friends at WOSC. She was a minister in the prayer room at the First Baptist Church and chaplain of Southwest Oklahoma Republican Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond, and a daughter Hazel Ann White, one sister Twila Dobbs, and one brother Trilbus Summers. She is survived by two children, Verna Savage and husband Ted of Livingston, TX., and Joel Zinn and wife Georgene of Broken Arrow, OK.; two half-sisters, Henry Katherine Ford of Clovis, CA. and Lavita Trollander of Fresno, CA.; and one half-brother, Dwight Brown of Del City, OK.

Nine grandchildren; Mike Savage and wife Deanna of Teague, TX., Marla Turner and husband Don of Ft. Worth, TX, Michele Edlin and husband Kent of Pueblo, CO., Scott White and wife Joy Dee of Los Alamos, NM., Jill Tatum and husband Jeff of Grand Rapids, MI., Jennifer Brenner and husband Andrew of Sante Fe, NM., Brian Zinn and wife Tara of Norman, OK., Jillian Zinn of Broken Arrow, OK., and Jacob Zinn of Broken Arrow, OK.; 19 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. Debbie (Barker) Zuber

Debbie (Barker) Zuber, 59, died Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at her home in Franklin, Virginia. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at the Mt. Park Cemetery, Mt. Park, OK under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Debbie J. Barker was born July 1, 1946 in Hobart, OK to Roy and Burnidene (Wilder) Barker. She attended Southplains College and later received her B.S. at Northwest Texas Nursing School. She spent her life caring for others and most recently as Chief Nursing Officer at the South Hampton Memorial Hospital in Virginia. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her parents, Roy and Burnidene Barker, preceded her in death.

Her daughters, Deana Riddle and Dawna Walton and husband Jim, and her son, Todd Zuber and wife Perry; survive her; two sisters, Kathy Nolan and Grace Reeves and a brother, Tony Barker; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Betty Jo Allen

Betty Jo Allen, 76, died Saturday morning, May 20, 2006. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

She was born on March 30, 1930 at Hobart, Oklahoma to Walter and Vera Taylor. She attended school at Hobart, Oklahoma. She worked in the family business, Altus Tire Shop from 1971 to 1986. She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking, traveling, music and her church work. She attended the Apostolic Church.

Her parents, her husbands, Walter Banker and Alvin Allen and two sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by one son Richard Banker and his wife Anita of Altus, one daughter, Beverly Chapman, and her husband Bob of Jacksonville, Florida; five grandchildren, Lindsey, Kerri, Kevin, Kristi, and Karen and many friends.

Coy Dan Allen

Coy Dan Allen, 59, Altus, died Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at his home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2006 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at the Warren Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

He was born on May 24, 1947 in Blair, Oklahoma to Willard Coy and Oleta (Hardy) Allen. He graduated from Altus High School in 1965 and from Altus Jr. College in 1967.

He also attended Oklahoma University for two years. He served in the Oklahoma National Guard and retired as a Staff Sergeant following a 26 year career. He established Caring Hands Home Health in Blair and operated it for about three years. He then began driving for Jewett Scott Trucking in Mangum, Oklahoma. He has been the dispatcher for Maverick Transportation in Mangum for the past three years. He was of the Pentecostal Faith, enjoyed the outdoors, his pet dogs and spending time with his granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Allen, in 1985. He is survived by his mother Oleta; two sons, Coy Guy Allen of Providence, Rhode Island; John Daniel Allen of Altus, Ok; two sisters, Betty Collier and husband Mike of Altus; Joyce Atchley of Altus; one granddaughter Danielle Allen and several nieces, nephews and friends.

The Allen Family will greet friends Friday evening from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Kincannon Funeral Home.

Thelma E. Allen

Thelma E. Allen, 92, formerly of Altus, passed away Sept. 1, 2007, at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sept. 6, 2007, at Kincannon Funeral Home with Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at the Blair Cemetery, under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Thelma Ethel Rogers was born in Palo Pinto County, Texas, to George and May Rogers on November 12, 1914. In 1928, the family moved to Blair, Oklahoma, where she graduated in 1932. In 1933 she married Marvin R. Allen. For the next 50 plus years they operated a beauty salon together in Altus. She was the first president of the Altus Beautician Association. Thelma attended the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ in Altus for 66 years where she taught Sunday school classes for many years. Thelma started her second career and craft business, Sweet Yesterday, while in her early 70’s. She participated in craft shows during the next 15 years in Oklahoma, Kansas, Tennessee, N. Carolina, Kentucky, and Alabama, showing her handcrafted items and her four cookbooks. She was featured in Good Housekeeping magazine in an article about home-based businesses in 1993. Thelma appeared on the shopping TV channel, QVC, five times with her Recipes From Sweet Yesterday cookbooks. In 1998, she was a recipient of the Blue Cross/Blue Shield “Ageless Heroes” Award. Thelma moved to Oklahoma City in 1999 and attended the North MacArthur Church of Christ.

Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her father in 1953; her mother, a victim of the Blair tornado, in 1928; her brother, Charlie Rogers of Altus, in 1966; her husband Marvin in 1996; and her sister, Marie Rogers Mills of Altus, in 2004.

She is survived by her son, G. Michael Allen (Mike) of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, and daughter Sylvia Worcester and husband, Dr. Gary L. Worcester of Oklahoma City, and grandson Allen L. Worcester. She also has two nephews and their wives, Joe and Debbie Mills of Lexington, OK, and Bob and Rhonda Mills of Altus, OK.
