Renah S. Amore

Renah S. Amore, 72, Altus, died Monday, September 24, 2007 at her home. Funeral services will 10 a.m. Thursday, September 27, 2007 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

She was born on January 18, 1935 in Fort Worth, Texas to Finis M. and Eva (Coburn) Beard. She graduated from High School in Fort Worth, Texas. She had also attended school at Western Oklahoma State College in Altus. She married Carmine Amore III in Fort Worth, Texas in 1953. She and her husband owned and operated the Diamond Horseshoe, Mama Mia’s, and the Continental Club. She worked with children and adolescents at Vernon State Hospital. She belonged to the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She was of the Methodist Faith and loved to swim and write poems. She also loved her Chicago Clubs. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Beverly Douglas and former spouse Carmine Amore III. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Delores and Jim Schmidt of Wilmington, N.C.; three sons Carmine Amore IV and wife Dawn of Moore, Ok; Michael Amore and wife Sandie of Altus, Ok; Joseph Amore of Altus, Ok; sister Wanda Woodhouse and husband “Woody” of Springfield, Mo.; fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

The Amore Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at Kincannon Funeral Home.

Frank Anderson, Jr.

Frank Anderson, Jr., 64, Blair, died Saturday, October 6, 2007 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Major Connie Morris officiating. Burial will follow services at the Blair Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

He was born on January 11, 1943 in Gadsdon, Alabama to Thomas F. and Thelma J. (Uptain) Anderson. He graduated from Altus High School in 1962 and had attended electronics school in Oklahoma City. He married Lavern Gallant on November 7, 1964 in Altus, Oklahoma. He owned A-1 Transmission on East Broadway in the late 60’s. He was a partner in Flyboy’s TV and CB Repair behind Troy’s Grocery on West Walnut in the early 70’s. and hauled grain for E.B. Kittrell in Tipton in the late 70’s. He trucked automotive parts for Celadon from Laredo, Texas to Detroit, Michigan fro several years until his retirement in 1989 due to poor health. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a member of the “43 Club” in Altus, comprised of people born in 1943. The club would meet once a year to celebrate. He enjoyed playing pool in leagues; cars and racing; going to flea markets and garage sales and mainly just visiting with friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Robert Wayne Anderson and a brother William D. Anderson.

He is survived by his wife Lavern of Blair; daughter Shannon Grimes and husband William of Altus, Ok; one son Thomas F. Anderson III of Austin, Tx; two sisters Thalia Koehler of Juliet, Illinois; Judy Handren and husband Bill of Dwight,Illinois; ten grandchildren, Kelly Nation of Paris, Tx; Tommy Wayne Jones of Little Rock, Ark; Samantha Dubuque of Denver, Co; Tasha Dubuque of Altus, Ok; Breanna Dubuque of Altus, Ok; Robbie Anderson of Granite, Ok; Victoria Anderson of Austin, Tx; Kyrstin and Rebecca Grimes of Altus, Ok; Thomas Anderson of Austin, Tx; six great grandchildren and many friends.

The Anderson Family will greet friends Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Kincannon Funeral Home.

Ruth Virginia (O’Brien) Andrew

Ruth Virginia (O’Brien) Andrew, 85, passed away, Saturday, June 14, 2008 at her home. Graveside services will be held at the Altus City Cemetery, Tuesday, June 17th, at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Ruth was born in Kansas City, MO. on November 11, 1922 to Frank and Belle O’Brien. She married Charles Leslie Andrew in September, 1937. After Charles’ service with the Army in World War II, they made their home in the Kansas City area and then in Olathe, Kansas where their sons finished high school, and then in Lawrence, Kansas.

Ruth was a mother and homemaker, while Charles worked in many different skills, retiring from Civil Service and then, again, from the staff at the University of Kansas at the age of 70. Ruth and Charles later moved to San Antonio to be near their son, Larry and his wife, Brenda, in December, 2006.

Ruth was very fond of chocolate and mystery novels by Anne Perry and Lillian Jackson Braun. She also enjoyed visiting with family and reminiscing about the days when she and Charles and their boys visited the Kansas farm owned by his brother.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, her daughter, Charlotte Ruth Wright, and her brother, Frank O’Brien, Jr.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Harlan Andrew of Trinidad, CO., and Larry Andrew and wife, Brenda of Altus; two sisters, Meribeth Singleton of Irving, TX; and Patricia Cummings, and husband, Eugene, of San Diego, CA.; one brother, LeRoy O’Brien of Gardner, KS.; eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends are welcome to visit the family at the Kincannon Funeral Home on Monday, June 16th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Eluid Armendariz

Eluid Armendariz, 44, Queen Creek, Ariziona, formerly of Eldorado, OK, died Monday, January 14, 2008 in Hill County, Texas. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Arizona. Local arrangements are with Kincannon Funeral Home in Altus, OK.

Eluid was born August 18, 1963 to Angel and Eva (Hernandez) Armendariz in San Benito, Texas. He attended schools in Eldorado and graduated from high school in 1981. He joined the United States Marines and was honorably discharged in 1985 as a Lance Corporal. He worked at a Youth Ranch at Mount Lemon, Arizona for several years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all types of sports.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frankie Armendariz and Joe Armendariz; and one sister, Rachael Armendariz. Eluid is survived by one daughter, Ashley Armendariz of Phoenix, AZ; one son, Christopher Armendariz of Chandler, AZ; one grandson, Jacob Clark of Phoenix, AZ; four sisters, Mary Alice Morelas of Texas, Janie Maldonado of Eldorado, OK, Maria Benitez and husband Frank of Waco, TX, Marta Armemdariz of Tempe, AZ; four brothers, Nick Armendariz and wife Vicki of Eldorado, OK, Lionel Armendariz and wife Connie of Eldorado, OK, Sergio Armendariz of Texas, Lino Armendariz of Port Arthur, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.

San Martin Francisco Armendariz

San Martin Francisco “Frankie” Armendariz, 37, of Mesquite, TX, formerly of Eldorado, OK died Saturday, July 22nd, 2006 in Mesquite TX. Memorial services are pending with Kincannon Funeral Home.

Frankie Armendariz was born October 22nd, 1968, in Altus, OK to Angel and Eva (Hernandez) Armendariz. He attended and graduated from Eldorado High School in 1986, and while in school he participated in the Eldorado Future Farmers of America program. Of the Baptist Faith, Frankie also enjoyed fishing and music.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Angel Armendariz and Eva (Hernandez); one brother Jose Antonio Armendariz, and one sister Rachel. Frankie is survived by two daughters; Destinea Ranea Armendariz of Altus, OK, Danielle Hope Armendariz of Altus, OK; five brothers; Lionel Armendariz and wife Connie of Eldorado, OK, Sergio Armendariz of Waco, TX, Nick Armendariz and daughter Vicki of Eldorado, OK, and Lino Armendariz of Port Arthur, TX; four sisters; Mary Alice Morales of Alvin, TX, Janie Maldonado of Waco, TX, Maria Benetiz and husband Frank of Waco, TX and Marta Armendariz of Tempe, AZ; two special nieces; Norma Ciniceros and husband Frank of Altus, OK ; Rebecca Armendariz of Texas and a many nieces and nephews.

Cyrus Gilbert "Gib" Armstrong

Cyrus Gilbert "Gib" Armstrong, 84, Altus, OK, died Sunday, February 27, 2005 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday March 3, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Union City, OK with Rev. Eric Stock officiating. Burial will follow at the Union City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Gib was born April 30, 1920 at Cogar, OK to Iva Bowen and Charles Adrain Armstrong. He grew up on a farm. He served in the Army for two years. He lived in Union City most of his life. He was a retired carpenter. He married Johanna Marie Schroeder at Okarche, OK in 1945. She died in 1976. They had four children, Meredith Wayne, Roberta Kay, Thomas Dean and Patrick Larry. Thomas Dean died a few days after birth and Meredith died in 1998. He moved to Altus in 2001. He attended Grace New Life Fellowship in Altus.

Gib's parents preceded him in death; also all his brothers and sisters, Karl, Adrain, Garland, Harland, Neva Garrett, Violet Converse and Ellen Morgan. He is survived by son Patrick of Plano, TX and his children Tiffany and John; daughter Roberta Weeks and husband Perry of Altus and their children Benji and Ashley Collins and her husband Steve along with their children, Theresa, Jasmine and Mercedes. He is also survived by three sister-in-law's, Thelma Armstrong, Lois Armstrong and Betty Mattheau; many nieces and nephews and friends.

Cheryl Lynn Avant

Cheryl Lynn Avant, 43, Altus, OK died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at her home. Memorial services are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Reverend Boyd Whitehead and Zane Newton officiating.

Cheryl Lynn Avant was born October 24, 1963 to Donald and Marita (Dodge) Martin in Versailles, MO. She attended schools in Altus. Upon receiving her diploma, Cheryl began working as a Police Department Dispatcher in Frederick, Oklahoma. She also worked as a dispatcher for the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, for Republic Gypsum, for SOAARR, at the AAFB Commissary Deli Dept. as Assistant Manager and at Bar-S Foods in Altus. Cheryl enjoyed gardening, her pet dogs, and all types of music, but she especially loved her son, Jeremy, and spending time with him.

She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law Debbie Martin. Cheryl is survived by her son, Jeremy Avant; her parents, Donald and Rita Martin all of Altus; one brother David Martin of Enid, Oklahoma; three aunts Dixie German of Columbia, MO, Donna Lawrence of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Darlene Poague and husband Benny of Illinois; and numerous cousins and special friends.

Wanda Joye Avery

Wanda Joye Avery, 76, formerly of Altus, died at her home in Plano, Texas Thursday, November 2, 2006. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 6, 2006 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Dennis Osborn officiating. Burial will follow services at the Riverside Cemetery in Mangum, Oklahoma under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

She was born on May 2, 1930 in Vinson, Oklahoma to Amon and Winnie Laura Reynolds. She attended school in Vinson, Oklahoma. She married Robert Doyle Avery in 1951 in Mangum, Oklahoma. She had been a long time resident of Altus before moving to Plano, Texas upon retiring from the Jackson County Soil Conservation District following 40 plus years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Warren, Oklahoma. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Gene Reynolds. She is survived by her son Robert Kent Avery and wife Cathy of Plano, Tx; one sister, Ruth Losacco of Laguna Hills, Ca; two brothers, Carl Reynolds and wife Sandra of Oklahoma City, Ok; Marion Reynolds and wife June of Tuttle, Ok; two grandchildren, Kelsey and Katelyn Avery of Plano, Texas and many friends.

The Avery Family will greet friends Sunday afternoon from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Kincannon Funeral Home.

Augustina “Tina” Avila

Augustina “Tina” Avila, age 49, of Altus, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2008, at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Her Vigil Service with Rosary will be at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2008. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at the Prince of Peach Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 29, 2008. Father Joe Alridge and Toma’s Avila Sr. will be officiating at both services. Inurnment will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery. Cremation services were provided by Kincannon Funeral Home.

Tina was born July 13, 1958 in Mission, Texas to Reyes Cardona and Ascencion Gonzales. She married Juan Avila on June 27, 2006.

Tina attended the Snyder Public Schools through the eighth grade. She had worked at the Plantation Village Nursing Home for about the last five years. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Her hobbies were playing bingo, NFL, sports, and watching western movies.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Macario Cardona, and a baby sister, Irma Cardona. She is survived by her spouse, Juan, of the home in Altus, four daughters Nicole, Teresa, Marie and Audrey, five brothers, Joe and his wife, Angie, Cardona, Celso and his wife, Ruth, Cardona, of Snyder, Thomas and his wife, Susie, Cardona of Altus, Johnny Cardona of Snyder, and Manuel Cardona of Altus, four sisters, Paula Herfel of Chickasha, Dominga and husband, Mike, Aguirri of Snyder, Irma and her husband, Alfredo, Duarte of Snyder, and Lorenza and her husband, George, Thompson of Lawton, and five grandchildren Brittany, Jeremy, McKayla, Dakota, and Andrew.

Angelica Balladares

Angelica Balladares, infant daughter of Angel Balladares and Reyna Aguirre, was stillborn, Friday, May 18, 2007, in Jackson County Memorial Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Francisca Ayala, grandfather, Agustin Aguirre, and one cousin, Manuel Valladares, Jr.

Angelica is survived by her parents, maternal grandmother, Paula Gomez, five half sisters, Alma Cortez, Brenda Balladares, Maria Luisa Cortez, Marisol Gloria, and Angela Balladares; four half brothers, Angel Balladares, Jr., Felipe Cortez, Angel Osoria, and Adan Aguirre.

Graveside services and burial are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Monday 21, at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Charles E. "Ed" Ballard

Charles E. “Ed” Ballard, 77, Altus, died Monday, June 19, 2006 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Thursday, June 22, 2006 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Charles Edward Ballard was born June 5, 1929 in Pettitt, OK to Charley and Etta (Terrell) Ballard. He attended school in Pettitt, Cookson and Keyes, OK. He married Reva Chance on November 21, 1951 in Wellington, TX. Charles worked in road construction with earthmovers. He worked for KP Construction from 1959 until retiring in 1964. He loved fishing, watching game shows and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed garage sales, thrift stores and cutting coupons out of the Sunday paper. He was an avid sports fan and loved his OU Sooners and Atlanta Braves. He was a member of the Ridgecrest Church of Christ in Altus where he was baptized in the late 1970’s.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Patricia Ann Ballard; a sister, Fran Ballard Johns; three brothers, Carl, Gene and Howard Ballard; a sister in law, Juanita Brewer; his mother in law, Mattie Chance and a brother in law, J.D. Poling.

He is survived by his wife, Reva of the home; his daughter, Eddie Stapp and husband Tommy of Altus, OK; four sons, Kenneth Ballard and wife Kristie of Altus, OK, Jimmy Ballard and wife Rene of Hattiesburg, MS, Harold Ballard and wife Charla of OKC, OK and Billy Ballard and wife Rita of Altus, OK; his brother, Sam Ballard and wife Siccola of Altus, OK; his sisters, Ima Poling of Altus, OK, Kate Horton and husband Ed of Borger, TX, Faye Dill and husband Clint of Bedford, TX, Sharon Clendennen and husband Ed of Altus, OK and Karen Newell and husband Johnny of Springer, OK; grandkids, Cari Stapp of Oklahoma City, OK, Kristie Ganaway and husband Mark of Hobart, OK, Joey Dawson and wife Shannon of Hobart, OK, Jason Ballard and wife Paula of Steele, AL, Nathan Ballard and Christopher Ballard, both of Hattiesburg, MS, Justin and Casey Ballard of Victory, OK, Matthew Ballard of OKC, OK, Amber Smith and husband Tracy of Cache, OK, Heather Sadler of Arlington, TX and Bradley Ballard of Lubbock, TX; great grandchildren, Carley, Isiaha, Joey, Bradley, Caleb, Caroline, and Brodie; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Sam Houston Ballard

Sam Houston Ballard, 77, Altus, died Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Friday, September 28, 2007 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

He was born on August 24, 1930 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Charlie Ballard and Etta Terrell. He attended school in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He married Siccola Vick on July 14, 1953. He worked in Pipeline Construction. He was a long time member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ. He was a “Die Hard” OU Sooner Fan. He enjoyed cookouts at the lake. He enjoyed time with his dogs. He never met a stranger and loved time with his friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Francis Johns; four brothers, Ed, Carl, Howard, and Tuxie. He is survived by his wife, Siccola; two daughters, Beverly Ballard and Gene Norris of Oklahoma City; Ronda Jones and husband Stanley of Oklahoma City; three sons, Sam Ballard, Jr. of Altus; Rick Ballard of Oklahoma City; and Douglas Ballard and wife Josie of Altus; three sisters, Ima Ray Poling of Altus; Mary Kate Horton and husband Ed of Borger, Texas; and Etta Faye Dill and husband Clint of Bedford, Texas. He had sixteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
