Nettie Jane Adams
Nettie Jane Adams, 84, of Norman,
Oklahoma, died Saturday, July 10, 2004 in
Norman, Oklahoma. Graveside Services will be
held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at St.
Joseph Catholic Cemetery with Leon Dennis
officiating. Pallbearers are Scott Henderson,
Stephen Henderson, Jay Adams, Kevin Cox, Bob
Cox, Jr., and Scott Rothschild. Honorary
pallbearers will be the Westside Church of Christ
Ladies’ Bible Class. Services are under the
direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
Nettie Jane Adams (maiden name Ledbetter), born July 24, 1919 in
Huntsville, Arkansas to Lemon & Oleva Ledbetter (maiden name
Dennis). She was raised in Bristow, OK where she graduated from
high school and began her career with Southwestern Bell Telephone
Company as an operator in 1936 and retired in 1981 from
Southwestern Bell as a manager in Oklahoma City. She was baptized
in the Church of Christ as a teenager in Bristow. Her family moved
to New Mexico from Bristow and she met and married John Wood
Adams in 1940. They returned to Oklahoma and eventually made
their home in Norman in 1960. Her children and grandchildren were
the highlight of her life. She loved cooking for her family, especially
Thanksgiving and Christmas, working in her garden, and doing the
daily crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Bristow Historical
Society and the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Westside
Church of Christ in Norman.
Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and
oldest son, Jerry Adams. She is survived by a son, Paul Adams of the
home, daughter and husband, Dianne and Jerry Henderson of
Norman, daughter-in-law Pat Adams of Norman, grandsons Scott and
Stephen Henderson and Jay Adams of Norman, granddaughter Kelly
McBride of Norman, two great-grandchildren Kelsey and Mark
McBride, two sisters, Gaye Cox of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Edna
Rothschild Champeau of Norman, many nieces, nephews, and friends
from Southwestern Bell and Westside Church of Christ.

Melvin Aspley Cook
Melvin Aspley Cook, 97, of Lexington, Oklahoma, died at
9:45 AM, Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at home. Funeral Services will
be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, July 30, 2004, at Havenbrook Funeral
Home Chapel with Bill Cook officiating. Interment will follow at
the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Services are under
the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
Melvin was born September 29, 1906, in Poolville,
Oklahoma, to Maurice and Leona Cook. He was a high school
graduate. He married Inez Patterson on August 28, 1929 in Fox,
Oklahoma. They had three children, Lois, Billy and Don. Melvin
was a longtime member of the Baptist Church. He was ordained as
a Deacon in 1945 in Ashley, Illinois, and also served in churches in
Okemah, Hennessey, and the N.W. Baptist church in Oklahoma City.
Melvin worked for Texaco for over forty years in Illinois and
Oklahoma. He received several awards from Texaco as a safety
instructor. After retirement he and Ines moved to Oklahoma City
where he worked as a security guard for the Dillard Department Store.
Melvin was preceded in death by son, Lois; his wife, Inez;
three sisters, Edith, Lettie and Burnice; three brothers, Edwin,
Woodroe and Wilton. Survivors include two sons, Billy of Norman
and Don of Houston, TX; two brothers, Judson of Oklahoma City
and Roy of Wichita, Kansas; five grandchildren, Dale, Steven, Scott,
Renee and DeAnna; seven great-grandchildren, Nathan, Brandon,
Amanda, Shawna, BayLee, Aiden, and Gabriel; and a host of cousins,
nieces, nephews and friends.

Virginia Wall McCall, (Mrs. O. T. McCall)
Virginia Wall McCall, 82, of
Norman, Oklahoma died Saturday, July 17,
2004, in Norman. Funeral Services will be
held at 2:00 P. M., Tuesday, July 20, 2004,
at the First Baptist Church of Norman,
Oklahoma with Dr. Lavonn Brown
officiating, Interment will follow at the
Norman I. O. O. F. Cemetery in Norman.
Services are under the direction of
Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman.
Mrs. McCall was born in Petersburg,
Virginia on December 31, 1921, to Charles
and Neva Shrum Wall. She married Lt. O. T. McCall on September
18, 1942, in Prince George County, Virginia. She left her beloved
State of Virginia and her family and friends to move to Norman when
her husband went overseas in 1944. She lived in Norman for sixty
years. In a couple of months, she and her husband, O. T. would have
been married sixty two years.
Mrs. McCall was a member of First Baptist Church of
Norman, PEO, Junior League, AJL Club, her sewing club, University
of Oklahoma Alumni Association, Hospital Auxiliary and numerous
other activities. She was a member of First Baptist Church Choir for
over 30 years and taught a Sunday School class of teenage girls, as
well as, being a member of women’s open Sunday School class. She
was a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. McCall was preceded in death by her parents; two
brothers, Charles Wall, Jr. and Harold Wall and two infant twin
daughters. She is survived by her husband, O. T., of the home; two
daughters, Gail Schwabe and husband, Dennis and Julie McCall, both
of Norman: four grandchildren, Grant Schwabe, Chase Schwabe,
Summer Schwabe and Bevin Edwards; and two great-grandchildren;
a sister-in-law and nieces and nephews from Virginia.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church,
Music Department.

PATRICK ALAN MORSE
PATRICK ALAN MORSE, 48, of
Norman, Oklahoma passed away on July 15,
2004, after a 19-month struggle with pancreatic
cancer. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m.,
Monday, July 19 at The First Christian Church
in Norman with Rev. David Spain
officiating.(Childcare will be available at the
church). A graveside service will be held at the
Resthaven Cemetery in Ponca City, OK at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of
Norman, Oklahoma.
Pat was born on May 8, 1956, in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
After residing for four years in Lake Charles, LA, Pat returned to
Ponca City where he remained until graduating from high school
in 1974. During high school, Pat participated in a number of
activities including playing on the 1973 and 1974 Oklahoma State
Championship Volleyball teams.
Pat attended the University of Oklahoma, graduating with a
Bachelor Degree in Business Administration-Accounting in 1979.
Subsequently he attended the University of Oklahoma Law School,
receiving his Juris Doctor Degree in 1982. Pat worked for the
Oklahoma City law firms of Bright & Nichols and Crowe &
Dunlevy until 1989 when he joined the Norman law firm of
Pitchlynn & Morse, where he worked until his death.
He lived in Norman from 1974 until he passed away. He
enjoyed his family, reading, playing basketball at the YMCA and
golf. He was an avid OU fan, a football and basketball season
ticket holder and enjoyed traveling to away games.
Pat and his family would like to acknowledge the
compassion and support for Pat shown by the Rev. David Spain,
First Christian Church, Norman, Oklahoma; physicians and staff
associated with OU Medical Center and particularly Rise, Teresa,
Sherri and Michelle of the Cade Cancer Center; Jeff of Option
Care; Hospice of Oklahoma County; and Harold and Stacy
Roberts, Tuttle, OK, during his illness.
Pat is survived by his wife of almost 11 years, Marilyn
Young, and their two children, Kyle Joseph Morse (4) and Valerie
Gene Morse (2). Additional family survivors include his parents,
Alpha Jay and Irma Gene Perryman Morse of Ponca City, OK; two
sisters, Rebecca Morse, Oklahoma City, OK, and Laura Morse,
Los Angeles, CA; father- and mother-in-law, Joseph and Ruth Ann
Young, Chandler, OK, formerly of Woodward; brother-in-law,
Tommy Young, Enid, OK; brother-in-law, Robert, his wife, Kenna
and their children, Kahle, Kade and McKenzie, Shattuck, OK.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
the Heart of Oklahoma Chapter of the American Red Cross, 1205
Halley Ave, Norman, OK 73069 where Pat served on its Board of
Directors or the First Christian Church, 220 South Webster,
Norman, OK 73069.
