Troy grew up in the very intimate town of Blair. He greatly enjoyed his sports, loved playing baseball and was known to be one of fastest runners around. When not in school, playing sports, or working, he participated in the current favorite past-time was cruising the Altus square with his friends, James Ladd and Bill Glazner just to name a couple. Troy graduated from Blair High School in 1948. He married Margie Kirby in January of 1948 in Altus, Ok. and to this union three children were born.

Troy ventured out to California in 1948. Once in California he started out his apprenticeship in Ukiah, as a boilermaker for steam locomotives and later changed his apprenticeship to machinist, as the future was clearly changing over to diesel-powered trains. He eventually purchased that division which he and his wife, Nancy, ran together through mid-2005. After Nancy’s passing, he continued the business for a short time and then sold out his inventory by the end of 2006 and joined the ranks of retired gentlemen.

In his early 30’s he became a black belt in Judo performing exhibitions all over California perfecting his skill until he broke his clavicle and retired. Also, in his free time, aside from family, his greatest joy was horseback riding and cattle round-ups. He continued to be an avid sports fan and knew the current scores of ALL the games and team rankings. It was not uncommon for him to watch the TV and listen to another game on the radio. He was a member of the local Sheriff’s Posse and enjoyed their group activities.

Troy’s great mischievous smile and laugh will be greatly missed. Happy Trails until we meet again-
