Jeanne Walker

Life Celebration services will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel. Celebration services and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Jeanne Elaine Butler was born to Tom and Judy (Gilbertson) Butler on July 18, 1962, in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She graduated from Altus High School in 1980, and attended two years at Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma, now known as UCO. She and Tim Walker were married on August 14, 1982 in Altus, Oklahoma. She worked at Aladdin Beauty College as Director of Financial Aid for twelve years. She then went on to Putnam Toyota where she worked in the business office for two years. She spent the last ten years enjoying her home at Hicks Mountain and spending time with family and friends. Jeanne loved to read, cook, do crossword puzzles and watch murder mystery tv shows. She really enjoyed sitting on her porch and taking in the day.

At 49, Jeanne’s spirit outgrew her body ahead of its time. To know Jeanne was to know caring, to know love. She effortlessly cooked seven course dinners, housed endless friends of friends, giggled amid clatter in the kitchen, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. Hers was a quiet life, an important life. Jeanne was the glue that cements us all; she walked the walk.

Family was her center, her heartstring. Jeanne’s eyes sparkled at the sight of Timmy, her lifetime love, her partner in an unscripted journey. She adored Cody and Carly and stood taller because of them. At holidays, she single-handedly united her Norwegian-Irish extended family over the promise of mouth-watering bread, lefse and krumkakas. A kind word, a good book, an open heart, and always food! (Now she is feasting on a banquet in heaven; I hope St. Peter is really hungry there.)

We ache for her loss but find solace knowing there is a new star over Lone Wolf tonight, a light on the lake, showing the way.

Jeanne is preceded in death by her father, Tom; brother-in-law, Jeff Walker; and mother-in- law and father-in-law, Dr. John and Ayleen Walker.

She is survived by her husband Tim of the home at Hicks Mountain; one daughter, Carly Walker and one son Cody Walker, both of Hicks Mountain, Lone Wolf, OK; her mother, Judy Butler of OKC, OK; sisters, Joni Breakbill of OKC, OK, Jackie Hopkins and husband Mark of Coppell, TX; two brothers, Johnny Butler of Grand Forks, ND; Jerry Butler and wife Kathy of Gainesville, FL; brothers-in-law, Mike Walker and wife Charlene of Edmond, OK; David Walker and wife Tonya of San Antonio, TX; John Walker and wife Cheryl of Altus, OK; as well a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorials may be made in Jeanne Walker’s name at Red River Federal Credit Union to offset medical expenses.
