Gilley

Patsy Ruth Gilley, 66, Comanche, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2003 in the Memorial Chapel at Kincannon Funeral Home with Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will follow services at the Martha Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

She was born in Sopher on Dec. 20, 1936 to Jim and Lizza (Pritchard) Keck. She attended school in Martha. She married Bob Gilley on Nov. 26, 1952 in Altus. To this union four children were born. She was a homemaker taking care of the children and had worked as a cook at the Mountain Park School for some time. She was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed being outdoors, lawn work, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Cecil Keck and a sister, Mary Keck Kincannon.

She is survived by her husband Bob of the home in Comanche; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jerry Wilson, Mangum; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Linda Gilley, Duncan, Garry and Jo Ann Gilley, Altus and Jerry and Karen Gilley, Blair; twelve grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren and many friends.

McCurry

Funeral services for Eldo D. "Mac" McCurry, 86, Snyder, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Church of Christ, Snyder, with Mike Hinton, Minister, Church of Christ Snyder and Ardron Hinton, Minister, Church of Christ Roosevelt officiating.

McCurry died Friday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Burial will be in Mountain Park Cemetery under the direction of Becker Funeral Home of Snyder.

McCurry was born Oct. 13, 1917 in Lindale, Texas to Asa and Alice McCurry. He was one of thirteen children in the family. He graduated from Wapanucka High School in 1933 at the age of 16. He worked for the Federal government, the Corps of Engineers and the Bureau of Reclamation, from which he retired after 37 years of service. He had worked on twelve different projects. He married Joyce Chenault Archer on Aug. 7, 1969 in Las Vegas, Nev. They were married for 34 years. From 1988 to 1996, he owned and operated the Tom Steed Bait Shop. He was baptized into the Church of Christ on Oct. 17, 1993 in Crowder.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Denis; eight brothers, Curtis, Horace, Ellis, Watson, Lenis, Don, Daniel and Buford and two sisters, Lucy and Eunice.

Survivors include his wife Joyce of the home; children Jon McCurry and Brian McCurry, both of Davis, Tad McCurry of Reseville, Calif. and Linda La Pierre of Yerington, Nev.; step children Randy Archer of Mountain Park, Larry Archer of Lone Grove and Jacqueta Narviaz of Las Vegas, Nev.; two brothers, Odell McCurry of Wapanucka and Dewey McCurry of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Jason McCurry, Jodie Jennings, Byron McCurry, Aislinn McCurry and Jimmy Jackson; six step grandchildren, Amy Hill, Will Archer, Diedra Snyder, Brad Archer, Brian Archer and Kaye Winn; 14 great grandchildren, Jaylee, Jarod, Westin, Bryce, Maddie, Wyatt, Andrew, Dayton, Katelyn, Issaiah, Billy, Asja, Dakota and Colin.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Oklahoma Chapter, 6465 South Yale, suite 206 Tulsa, OK 74136, or to the Tipton Home, 1000 N. Broadway, Tipton, OK 73570.

Brookman

Opal Brookman, 98, died Nov. 21, 2003 at Colonial II nursing home in Hollis. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003 at Stewart Funeral Chapel, Hollis. David Manney and Bob Garton will be officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.

Hilda Opal Curb was born Sep. 9, 1905 in Harmon County to Edwin Andrew and Ethel Abercrombie Curb. She graduated from Vinson High School in 1924 and was a life long resident of Harmon County. She married Vanny M. Brookman Sep. 9, 1924 at Tea Cross, north of Hollis. She was a member of the Baptist Church and was a devoted housewife and mother and helped Vanny with the farming and ranching.

She is survived by one son, Darrell Brookman of Hollis; one grandson, Darin and wife Jeanette of Hollis; one granddaughter, Judy Messenger and husband Sam of Gradbery, Texas; four great grandchildren, Katy and Seth Brookman, Amy Coker and Josh Messenger. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 12, 1999; two brothers, Ralph and Olaf Curb and two sisters, Alma Putnam and Joyce Claxton.

Cozart

Funeral service for Joe Cozart, 86, of Manitou, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at the First United Methodist Church in Manitou with the Rev. Bonnie Strong officiating.

Cozart passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, in Frederick. Burial will be at the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home in Frederick.

Joe was born on Nov. 27, 1916 to Hugh and Myrtle (Shelton) Cozart in Cordell. He attended school in Mountain Park. He was united in marriage to Helen Bandy on Aug. 22, 1942 in Hobart. During the depression he worked in a Civilian Conservation Camp that built Lake Lugert and Dam. He worked for the Frisco Railroad in Tillman County as a heavy equipment operator for 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Lucille Nestell and Maggie McPhail; a baby brother, Clarence Cozart, and grandson, Timothy Sargent.

He is survived by his wife, Helen, of the home; two sons, Eddie Cozart, and his wife, Maurine, of Frederick and Rick Cozart and his wife, Sue, of Pueblo, Colo.; brother, Ernest Cozart and his wife, Bernice, of Frederick; six grandchildren, Cheryl Sargent and her husband, Gary; Carla Keller, Lance Crook and his wife, Melisa, Dede Stone, Heather Hunt and her husband, Charlie and Deeann Cozart and 17 great grandchildren, Alex, Lealah, Morgan, Baylee, Holly, Skylor, Lulu, Clayton, Jeremy, Chelsea, Stephanie, Victoria, Katherine, Elizabeth, Nathaniel, Abigail, and Brandon.

Memorial contributions may be made to Manitou Methodist Church, Box 25, Manitou, OK 73555 in memory of Joe Cozart.

Torres

San Juana Torres, 82, of Lexington died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003.

Torres was born at Guanajato, Mexico on March 27, 1921 to Guillermemo Estrada and Maria Estrada. She married Joes Santos Torres on May 26, 1954. They lived in the Russell community, working and raising a family. Torres was a loving wife and mother who faithfully cared for her family. Jose Santos preceded her in death on June 11, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her son, John Torres and wife, Martha; their children John Michael and Christina Torres; daughter, Isabel Torres and Mary Faris and her husband, Kevin; their children, Angela and Kahn Nirschl, Rebecca and Alex Faris; daughter, Aurora Torres and her huband, Douglas Mach; their children Bernadette, Rachel and David Antonio Mach.

A service for San Juana Torres will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday, Nov. 24, 2003 at 1 p.m. Officiating will be Father Hoa Nguyen. Interment will be in Russell Cemetery.

Arrangements are with Greer Funeral Home in Mangum.

Gilley

Patsy Gilley, 66, of Lawton died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton.

Funeral services are pending with Kincannon Funeral Home.

Ford

Heather R. Ford, 21, of Olustee died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services pending with Kincannon Funeral Home.

Saenz

Funeral service for Joe Ella (Hicks) Saenz, 54, of Frederick, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at the Gray Gish Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Tim Billy, officiating, youth pastor, of the First Baptist Church, Walters.

Saenz died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital, in Lawton. Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home in Frederick.

A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2003 at the Gray Gish Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Sylvester Amos, of Hobart, officiating.

Joe Ella was born on January 6, 1949, to Jefferson G. and Lorancie (LeFlore) Hicks, in Watson. She lived in Watson, until moving to Frederick at the age of five. She attended Frederick schools. She married Benny Leyja. Two children were born to this union. She later married Jerry Henry, Sr, and four children were born to this union. She worked as a seamstress for over 30 years. Some of the places she worked include Frybrant, Central Leather Goods and Show String Embroidery. Sewing was not only her occupation, but her passion. She also enjoyed traveling. She was a member of the Apostalic Faith Church most all of her life, which her father helped build.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Joe Ray Hicks, Sr., and sister, Pearlene Osborn.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Klippstein, her husband Perry of Houston; Ann Leyja of Frederick and Cindy Burleson her husband Joe of Frederick; three sons, Jerry Henry, Jr. his wife Lesley of Newport News, Virginia; Joe Allen Henry of Frederick, Oklahoma and Houston, Texas; and Randell Wayne Henry of Seminole; a special friend and companion, Mercy Flores of Frederick; brother, Eddie Joel Hicks of Frederick; two sisters, Vera Hudson and her husband Cordell, and Ann Fobb, both of Frederick; 11 grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Renal Care Group East, 4516 SE Lee Blvd. Ste. 108, Lawton, OK 73501, in memory of Joe Ella Saenz.

Jackson

T.C. Jackson, 79, of Altus, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003 in the Memorial Chapel of Kincannon Funeral Home with Pastor L. B. Jackson and Pastor James Shelton officiating.

Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Jackson was born on Jan. 18, 1924 in Ferris, Texas to Bonner and Roberta (Jefferson) Jackson. He attended school in Ferris, Texas. He managed the Conoco service station on South Main Street in Altus for several years. He married Mae Thomas in Wichita Falls, Texas on May 8, 1961. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. In his retirement he enjoyed hunting and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Mae, of Altus; one son, Little T. Jackson, of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Marie Parker and Polly Ann Warren, both of Dallas and Ella Ruth Jackson of Los Angeles; five brothers, L.B., Odie, Nathaniel and Rommie Jackson, all of Dallas and James Jackson of Altus and a host of nieces and nephews.

Laseman

Viola Delila Laseman, 94, passed away on Nov. 13, 2003 in Amarillo, Texas. Graveside services were held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003 at Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis. Services were under the direction of Stewart Funeral Service, Hollis.

Laseman was born Jan. 11, 1909 in Erath County, Texas to Luther and Sarah Meffered. She married Heston L. Laseman in Sept. 1931, in Hollis.

She lived in Harmon County for more than 50 years, many of those in the Westview Community. She served 16 years as County Clerk of Harmon County, retiring in 1972. She move to Pampa, Texas in 1973 and then to Amarillo, Texas in 1995, returning to Hollis in Dec. of 2001.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Heston, in Feb. 1956; five sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by two daughters, Colleen and son-in-law Eugene Hamilton of Amarillo, Texas, Doris and son-in-law Rodney Wheeler of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren, Julie and husband Dale of Beaumont, Texas, Laura and husband Christopher Seals of Houston, Timmy Wheeler and wife Robin of San Antonio, Texas, Glenn Wheeler of San Antonio, Texas and three great-grandsons.

Duck

Elizabeth Rebecca Duck, 77, of Altus, passed away Friday, Nov. 14 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.

Becky was born Nov. 13, 1926, in Pawnee to John Franklin and Alma May (Stearman) Owen.

Her family moved to the Roff Community near Ada in the early 1930's. She was the oldest of nine children. She moved to the Ozark Community in Jackson County in 1943 where she met and married Wilbur Bud Duck. She and her husband opened a gas station and grocery store east of Altus in 1952 which became known in later years as Duck's Corner.

She was also involved in farming for over 30 years. Becky was an active member of the Ozark Home Demonstration Club for many years. She was also a charter member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Altus.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud Duck in 1977; five brothers, Ralph Owen, Johnny Owen, Howard Owen, Leroy Owen and Harold Owen and one sister, Opal. She is survived by two sons, Jerry Duck and his wife Mary of Altus and Lonnie Duck of Iowa Park, Texas; two sisters, Janice Clinton and her husband Larry of Ponca City and Rose Gross of Amarillo, Texas; four grandchildren, Peggy Clay of Altus, Jerry Wayne Duck of Oklahoma City, Toby Duck of Oxnard, Calif. and Mai Wilson of Sherman, Texas and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2003 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church with Reverend Boyd Whitehead officiating. Interment will follow at Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
