Youngblood

Erna Kurz Youngblood, 77 of Amarillo, Texas, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2004 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Rev. Danny Lucas of Lighthouse Baptist Church officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2004 at Reed Cemetery in Reed with Joe Lane officiating.

Erna was born in Odessa, Russia and was a survivor of the Holocaust. She was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Billy Youngblood and one daughter, Mary Lou Buttram and husband, Lee, all of Amarillo, Texas; five grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Odis Youngblood in 1983 and by one son, Jerry Youngblood in 1960.

Family suggest memorials be made to the Lighthouse Baptist Church building fund.

Local arrangements are with Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.

Smith

Hazel Fern Smith, 91, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.

Smith was born August 8, 1913, in Collingsworth County, Texas, to Homer and Dela Sewell. She attended school at Twitty, Texas. She married Robert Vernon Smith on Sept. 23, 1933, and the lived their entire married life near Shamrock, Texas. She loved to crochet, play dominoes and bingo.

Smith is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 64 years Robert Smith, one son Robert Smith, Jr. and a granddaughter.

She is survived by four children and their spouses: Millard and Diane Smith of Warren; James and Patti Smith of Pampa, Texas; Atha and Kenneth Wright of Warren and Rita and Clois Richardson of Elk City; 19 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; 20 great-great grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Faith Smith of New Waverly, Texas.

Services for Fern Smith are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the 11th Street Baptist Church in Shamrock, Texas, with the Revs. Gene Lancaster and Joel Stafford officiating. Burial will follow at the Shamrock Cemetery under the direction of Wright's Funeral Home of Shamrock.

Clark

Funeral services for Otis E. Clark, age 68 of Cache, will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004 at the Cache First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Cache Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick.

Clark died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004 at the Commanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton.

Otis E. Clark was born Dec. 21, 1936 in Kellerton, Iowa to Jack and Elberta (Dorsett) Clark. On Oct. 4, 1953, he and Patricia L. Conley were united in marriage at Mt. Ayr, Iowa. The Clark's came to Cache in 1967, where they operated Clark's Tree Service, Pat's Lawnmower Repair, Hamburger Inn and Clark's Used Car and Auction. Mr. Clark was CLETE certified in law enforcement. He was formerly employed by the Cache Police Department, Mangum Police Department and the Beckham County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cache.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Clark, of the home; one daughter, Cindy Jackson and her husband, Gary, of Cache; two grandchildren, Scott Jackson and his wife, Tish, of Marlow and Karla Ornelas and her husband, Raul, of Altus; two great-grandchildren, Bailey Don Clark Jackson and Harliegh Jackson Maile; three brothers, Jackie Clark and his wife, Joyce, and Keith Clark and his wife, Jill, all of Creston, Iowa, and Dale Clark and his wife, Debbie, of Cache; one sister, Lucille Shields of Cache; five sisters-in-law, Alvena Clark, Peggy Kester, Elaine Bailey, Irene Bailey and Thelma Conley; special friends, J.R. and Loni Rainer, Theresa and Duane Piearson and Katy Born; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Daniel Clark and three brothers-in-law, Jack Shield, George Bailey and William Conley.

Higgs

Sharron Higgs, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004 in Oklahoma City.

She is survived by: her husband, Gary Higgs of the home; her father, L.P. Roberts and the late Germa Lee Brinkman; sons, Kevin and Kyle, and one grandson; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Winston Higgs of Altus.

Services are pending with Bodel Smith and Sons Funeral Home of Oklahoma City.

Hatfield

Eldora "Sandy" Hatfield, 81 of Altus, was born May 10, 1923, and died Dec. 2, 2004.

Sandy lived in Altus most of her adult life caring for her mother. She enjoyed bowling and visiting with friends. She had a great sense of humor and loved life. Anyone who ever meet her could never forget her. She was a good basketball player in her early years. She was a loving person and will be missed by all who knew her.

Sandy is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and was preceded in death by 22 brothers and sisters.

Graveside service are at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Roosevelt Cemetery in Roosevelt. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday at the Tabernacle Baptist Church located at 321 N. Lee in Altus. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel.

Watson

James Marshall Watson, 86 of Altus, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004 at Elm and Hudson Church of Christ in Altus with Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

He was born Jan. 18, 1918 in Altus to Jim W. and Eula R. (Kelly) Watson. He graduated from Altus High School in 1937. He began work for the Civilian Conservation Corps in the late 1930's in Wyoming and then back to Southwest Oklahoma in the Gould area. He served in the United States Army in Abilene, Texas, in the early 1940's. Following his military assignment, he was a Dr. Pepper distributor in Altus and then worked for the Altus-Lugert Irrigation District. He farmed the remainder of his working career in Friendship area until his retirement in 1993.

He married Clara Francis McCormack on March 29, 1941 in Odell, Texas and to this union were born two children - Dwight Watson and Barbara Sweatt. Clara preceded him in death in 1984. He married Shirley Watts on Aug. 1, 1989 in Vernon, Texas. He was a member of the Thomas Street Church of Christ in Altus. He enjoyed playing pool and playing his violin. He often played at the nursing home for his friends. He loved visiting and talking with all of his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Clara, and two brothers, William Howard Watson and Willard Eugene Watson.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Kenneth Sweatt of Altus; a son and daughter-in-law, Dwight and Margie Watson of Friendship; five grandchildren, Jamie Turner and wife, Gayla of Mangum, Staci Wilson and husband, Rodney, of Friendship, Tara Watson of Avon, Colo., Michael Turner and wife, Crystal, of Altus, Misti Watson of Friendship; 12 great-grandchildren and many friends.

Haws

Lillian M. Haws, 84, of Rogers, Ark., died Nov. 23 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born in Oakdale on March 27, 1920, to D.F. Foust and Dorthy Sharrock. Lillian married Jesse Leon Haws on May 11, 1940, in Clinton. They moved to the area in 1977 from Lavale, Mary.

Lillian was a homemaker and she loved traveling, quilting, playing bridge and doing community service.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rogers.

Lillian is survived by her mother, one brother, Virgil Foust and wife Betty Jo of Rogers, Ark.; two sisters, Norma Morris of Thayer, Kan., Nancy Martin and husband George of Altus; one sister-in-law, Deon Foust of LaRue, Ark.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lillian was preceded in death by her father; husband; two brothers, Curtis Foust and Rex Foust; and one sister, Mona Alexander.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at the First Presbyterian Church of Rogers with Dr. Jerry Rice officiating. There is to be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 1305 West Pine, Rogers, AR 72756.

Arrangements are under the direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Service of Rogers, Ark.
